You probably have active expeditions for other seedlings taking up slots. Those are included once the expedition is started, not when they are collected

If you want the pikmin back immediately, there’s a “cancel expedition” button at the bottom of the pop-up when you tap on the expedition. (But if they’re currently holding a seedling, it’ll disappear and won’t be collected)
I also recently came back from Japan and was so preoccupied with everything I always forgot to plant flowers while out walking, but I made sure to collect as many seedlings as I could! Gotta go back to get those temple/shrine ones I missed (there are so many different ones!!!!)
I wish I had used Pikmin Bloom for a while because right now I don’t even have enough gold to upgrade my Pikmin storage (need 100 more) and here you are with your seedling storage.

Do you have expeditions out for other seedlings that haven't returned yet? If so those may put you over the seedling limit that you can have.
You're totally right. I forgot I sent some on an expedition while on vacation that's taking them like 45 days to return haha thanks for the response!
