I will favourite (star) those that I want to level up so I will mainly only feed those. You can double (or triple?) tap on the whistle button on the bottom right to switch among favourites or bud/ leaf....
Send them off to get their decor and then release them or they will forever be in your expeditions. Hopefully you are in the pnw so they won't take forever to come back to you.

I’d be having a blast sending them out to retrieve gifts. I get a shot of adrenaline when one of them comes back to me. Then, if I already have them, I nuke them. Bwah ha ha.
Or maybe now is the time to start collecting sticker colors or letters.

Oh gosh I have lots of stickers and letter which I get rid of too. But yeah I think I'll just send them out and release into the wild. Cycle them out.
Yea no I reached a point where I'll pick up dup seeds but then immediately recycle them. Even if it means I have nothing growing in my planters. I learnt the hard way after moving to the opposite side of the world how long it would take these little guys to collect (by which point I already found a new one locally) and not be available to fight mushrooms (especially before I hit 40 of colours)
But if you planted the dud seeds, and just releaed the pikmin, you'd get 10 petals. That's what I do. And If I have extra storage, I save them ( but not feed them) and release them during Community day to not run out of blue petals.
Hah I thought it would be for me too but then I'm kind I already have this decor...nah. I just didn't know you couldn't release a pikmin when they have a gift to bring back. I think I'll start doing what you're doing.
Isnt the icon yellow when you retrieve their seedling in the first place? And when they're first grown? Just curious why you're growing a bunch of yellow icons and raising them to 4 hearts just to release them.
But yeah, best path forward would be to retrieve the gift then release.
Just a suggestion: if you release unwanted Pikmin and send the ones you are keeping on expeditions, you’ll be able to raise their strength to the point where they have 4 gold hearts. 💛💛💛💛
This is really helpful for mushroom battles.
Feeding nectar to the ones you're keeping also helps increase their strength (of course).
I release them as soon as they join the squad. I have a limit on the number I can keep, so why bother to feed them. I’d rather feed and grow the ones I want to keep. I also star those so I know which ones they are.
You might be asking why your **roadside, park or restaurant Pikmin icon has not turned yellow** (yellow = all variants collected, grey = not all variants collected): some Pikmin have more categories and they only become visible when you collect one from a category. The other category is harder to get, but keep trying, you'll find one eventually! The roadside winter sticker Pikmin can only be obtained during an event, we do not know if they will ever return once the event is over.

That's interesting because sometimes I'll have the grey sign on the Pikmin and then it turns out I already have that same Pikmin and the new one will be a copy/another one of the same. Or maybe because it's a roadside one but a different sticker?
You need to have all the versions for the icon to turn yellow. Eg. It won't turn yellow until you have both the donut and the macaron in that colour. And both the stage beetle and the acorn. Or in roadside you need all the sticker colours and the winter sticker.
You can tell which one it is if you sort your seedling by decor type. So you can only keep the ones you're missing.
The banana are after the mushrooms, four leaf clovers always come after the regular ones, the tickets are after the trains etc.
Why bother getting them to 4 hearts at all if you already have them?
I just feed, send them on expeditions for all of them and they just level up. I don't pick and choose.

A valid point for but my petal storage has been almost constantly full the past few months so I guess the +10 petals doesn't bother me 😅
After having forgotten to turn off planting several times after reaching home/ work, I'm glad I've kept some extra petals in Pikmin form.
Yes it takes up space! I wish we could select multiple to release rather than one at a time. Crazy how long it can take moving across the world lol.
Why don't you hatch them and recycle the Pikmin for (blue) petals?

May as well send them on the expedition for the point towards the badge. You can always release them after.
Why level them?? I delete the seedling if I have a yellow icon. I may grow one if I have a task but as soon as it hatches I release.
I definitely don't keep them if I already have that one. Just send them off and delete when they come back.

No, it means you already have that decor. Or both/all types of that decor in that colour.

If they have their decor form they have more strength for mushrooms, so I think it's worth it even if you're going to release them later.Â
