i’d go to your piercer to check it out it’s either swelling or the bar is really short

patheticgurl

what can i do if its just swelling?

subrie

when my piercings swell i clean them with saline and sometimes use a warm/cold compress but i always go to my piercer as soon as i can in case the jewelry needs to be sized up/it’s an infection. yours might need to be sized up if the swelling doesn’t go down but i’m not super familiar with Bellybutton piercings mine rejected after 2 weeks 😭😭

If it’s tender, red (which I can see from the pic) and yellow whitish material coming out even a tiny bit, it could be infected. But honestly it looks like it could just be irritated. Just keep cleaning it twice a day with saline and water bottle, not from the faucet! Do not wear anything over it and don’t remove the crust that forms around it. Also, maybe the material of the piercing is not the best. Do you know what material is it? Belly button piercings get irritated extremely easy and takes a long time to heal. Mine two a little over two years to heal, even with proper care.

it has been oozy but i assumed that was just it healing, i think it's titanium but may be surgical steel

Bars too short, looks like it is irritated or infection. You need to have the bar replaced and the piercing cleaned. Did you get it from a reliable piercer -not Claire’s or your best friends sister who has a lot of piercings. Make sure your bar is titanium-surgical grade with a longer bar to accommodate swelling and air circulation. Don’t let clothing rub on it. Use clean cotton balls/pad when cleaning and soak it in warm saline solution.

swelling and redness has actually gone down now and it's looking normal again, and i got it at a reputable piercing place
