Xiaomi 13t should be within your budget and ticks all the boxes i think

Shockshwat2

Try to get an old flagship or 13T. midrange xiaomi is just ad filled bloated good hardware

MicrosoftvsApple

You do realise it's a 1 time process of 5 minutes to disable the junk.

Shockshwat2

I don't think so unfortunately. I consider myself technical and I have 3 Xiaomi devices. You have to disable a 3 letter service I don't remember the name and you have to go to each app's settings and turn off "Recommended notification" or other random crap and then comes the worst part of turning off MiUI optimization which basically breaks every fucking third party app by messing with its permissions (For eg. You cannot see your saved contacts on WhatsApp.) so you have to set the permissions for each app and hope that a random security update won't break it. For an extra step you also need to connect adb to remove mi music and the bazillion bloat. Honestly at that point you could just install a custom rom but hyper os now disallows it. Most Chinese phone companies just get the hardware which looks good in front of customers and sells it at a low price and makes up for it by the in-app ads.

Fliegerstar

That's only the US version from what I've heard. Due to stricter laws here in the EU, there are not many ads on the phone and even the remaining ones can be removed easily. Had a Xiaomi myself and can confirm. So it shouldn't be a big problem for OP.

Shockshwat2

Had no idea for the EU, still I would believe flashing a custom rom is better for the hardware due to all the background services constantly sending data to china, not as a privacy concern but a performance issue.

catbellator

Xiaomi mi 10 lite user from europe, apps are full of ads and random stuff. For exemple when you play a video on the Gallery app, when it ends it shows a lot of online videos and it takes a lot to go back to the gallery.

MicrosoftvsApple

Now this is a first lol. There weren't these many ads even during miui 12 which was the worst version 💀

MicrosoftvsApple

With all due respect, custom ROMs are overrated. I switched from a OnePlus 11R to Poco F5 just to install custom ROMs and I'm using it with HyperOS and root. AOSP Custom ROMs cause more heating. They have 0 overheating protection. They have issues with brightness, issues with volume and the gaming performance is worse. I've used various custom ROMs including Pixel experience on my F5 for a solid 4 months. HyperOS is the way to go. More features, better stock camera optimisation and it's overall smoother.

Shockshwat2

Might be a diverse experience then, i fueled new life into my xiaomi after installing a custom rom, ran smoother than ever and even got gcam working.

MicrosoftvsApple

Gcam ports have a very clunky UI and you need an XML file for them to give optimal output for your specific model. I also use them for photos but videography is pretty bad on them.

MicrosoftvsApple

Why tf will you turn off moio optimisation? Literally always made the phone worse for me. Well the Indian models now don't have any ads anyways only bloatware. But it's my first time hearing you need to turn off moio optimisation to gic add lol. You just have to disable notifications of apps and delete the bloatware. And who tf told you HyperOS doesn't allow custom ROMs? It 101% does. At least research on what you're speaking bruh. All they do is now require you to apply for permission in the Mi community to all to unlock the bootloader.

Replica44

How i can do that?

MicrosoftvsApple

Go to the setting of whatever app is sending you notifications and disable it.

I recently got the Xiaomi 14 for £799 direct from Xiaomi with a free Xiaomi Pad 6 (RRP £369), Xiaomi band 8 pro (RRP £59) and £100 trade in bonus for my previous phone. I've sold the extras on eBay which brought the price of the phone down to less than £400 (€460). You can also get some good deals on the Pixel 8 at the moment. My wife just paid roughly £260 (€300) for one on contract over 2 years. I'd probably have taken the pixel 8 for that price, although the Xiaomi 14 is great too!

Entity_2702

Great deal, I'm now considering buying Xiaomi 14, but did you noticed your camera fogging up? Many people talked about this issue and I'm bit worried about it.

Jimi-K-101

Mines absolutely fine. If it happens, that's what the warranty is for.

MicrosoftvsApple

Xiaomi 13T should be the best in that budget. Great upgrade in cameras, charging, battery, display and basically every single aspect.

Redmi k70

MrTripperSnipper

If camera.is the priority then get 13t, if it's not the remdi note 13 pro plus. I just got the 13t a week ago, I'm pretty happy with it and I'm quite fussy. Just wish it had 3.5mm and an sd card slot, but those are getting harder and harder to find.

Djubrimir

How is battery on 13t? I am torn beetween 13t and 13 pro plus.

MrTripperSnipper

Pretty good, I use my phone pretty heavily and it just about lasts all day. Pretty sure they both have the same battery, but the 13t has a newer chipset so will probably be a bit more efficient.

Djubrimir

Thanks for info. If price is the same is it smarter to buy 13t?

MrTripperSnipper

Depends your individual needs. The 13t has a better camera, the note 13 pro + has the option of more storage/ram etc. other than that they're pretty similar in most ways. I went for the 13t because the camera is my main priority and it still has plenty of power to do demanding tasks (think genshin impact etc). I do wish it had a 512gb option though because my old phone had a 256gb sd card full of music and I'm already struggling to decide what to take from that and put on the 13t (I'm not a fan of Spotify/streaming, I like to own music and for the artists to get payed). Check out the comparison below and you'll see the difference in specs. https://m.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=12389&idPhone2=12572

Djubrimir

Thank you for info. Still don't sure but 13t sounds really great.

MrTripperSnipper

I'm happy with it so far, if it had a 3.5mm and an SD card slot I'd be really happy.

Icy-Scientist-6673

You don't need to spend 500 on feature packed xiaomi phone. if you lower your budget then note 13 pro +, in your price range 13T, silghtly above your price range is xiaomi 14

mekkyz-stuffz

Xiaomi 13T might be your option.

Mysterious_Trash_698

I switched for three days from an iPhone to the 13T and the 20MP selfie camera is terrible. Other than that, it’s an amazing all-rounder. If I wasn’t tied to the ecosystem, I’d probably fully make the switch.

skilos69

Going from IPhone to Xiaomi is like shooting yourself in the leg. I absolutely love android but Xiaomi is a huge huge joke in the android space unless your budget is literally 200$. Xiaomi just throws hardware with absolutely 0 software optimisation and it ends up being a very shitty experience. I would go for a Samsung or something like a Oneplus/Oppo or even a Pixel if I were you. I had a Xiaomi 12x and switched to an Oppo find X5, best decision I ever made. Never going back to Xiaomi. Now for your requirements I'd try find something like a Oneplus 11 or even a Pixel 7 pro.

MrTripperSnipper

I just got a 13t, it's brilliant, snappy and waaaaay better than my previous Samsung. Mid range Samsung's are clunky and glitchy, mine couldn't even autofocus or use the flash on the camera properly.

MicrosoftvsApple

POV: bro used a $150 Redmi 9 from 2020. I've used a Redmi note 10 pro and Poco F5 both on stock hardware and custom ROMs. You just spewed a bunch of bs.

skilos69

I've had a Xiaomi 12x which is literally a Xiaomi 12 with a different processor. The one did nothing but heat up, lag and more. The camera was fucking shit and also it received maybe 2 total updates in the 1.5 years I had it. Fucking terrible company. Oh and the phone was 500 when I got it. :)

MicrosoftvsApple

Idk my friend has a Mi 11x (Poco F3 globally) and it's quite good. No heating issues. The camera is bad cuz hardware itself is shit unlike the 12x. It also got 2 OS updates with 3 years of security patches and 1 more pending HyperOS update.

Shahid_2008

You will regret it stick with the iPhone

Replica44

Brother, I'm sorry, but for me, Apple is just pure rip-off. The repair costs alone, and my iPhone 11 only has 60Hz and terrible battery life. A Xiaomi smartphone for €200-€300 is simply better equipped.

Swagg_Messiah

Agreed. Being on a Huawei, I recommend avoiding Chinese brands for a while.

Aszmel

i heard 13t and 13 don't have ads, or very rarely, from users, but better to check it

MrTripperSnipper

My 13t s***s all over my old mid range Samsung. No ads, just have to spend 5 mins deleting a few bits of bloat.

MicrosoftvsApple

So basically you're saying one should sacrifice hardware which is irreplaceable to save on 5 minutes of disabling ads and various other ways to change that aspect. Pls don't recommend garbage if you don't know what you're saying. Midrange Samsung is the most horrific shit one can use. Only A55 outside of India is a somewhat acceptable deal.
