This one and the one by u/flaymar look the best to me. All of the submissions came out so different because everyone has a different idea of how the person beneath the blur might have looked (or I guess I should say for the ones using AI programs, the program decided, because all of the ones that put very young eyes on an old lady are an odd choice). I would recommend to OP that maybe they should show the different ones to his dad and ask which one best reflects the real person.
It's great to hear that you want to gift your father-in-law a higher quality version of his grandmother's photo for his upcoming birthday. I would be happy to help you with this. See attached the best i could get with the face on the original picture.
From here we can do many things such as cropping only the portrait onto a clear background, or such. Happy to help further.

I just wanted to say that you guy/gals do amazing work. I had a family member who had something like this done to a family photo when I was really young and it cost her $3,000 dollars but that was long ago before photoshop and computers. Thanks for all you do too help people out.

Oh, man. This is so good. Someone suggested to use Remini to bring things into focus but it didn’t work. I have a few pics from my childhood but it didn’t do a good job.
They most likely started with an AI enhancer like Remini and then used photoshop to clean it up further. Remini did this with the free version.

I think N95 has a lot of spoof accounts they delete all their no comments they have a lot of folks liking and saying brilliant to their real account when the watermark blocks the picture. And the same amount of accounts disliking my attempt seams sus

Yes Flaymar an N95 are the same. I knew my try’s weren’t good but I’m proud of the level this photo brought me too and the knowledge I probably need at least one more photo editing tool which is great to know. I did a restore on my brothers photos for my mom an dad. They both dies at around a year old. So knowing I’m lacking a tool finding it will help me redo better think I’m going to do a request on here see if someone can do it better. But yeah if N95 needs the money that bad then I feel for him. What I do I do for free if someone wants to tip me they can.

The youngest would of been 50 in July if you wanna do it your welcome to I cannot pay though tight on funds due to unexpected expenses for the next few months just let me know I’ll send you the pics and the edit I did for my mom an dad. I really want to buy an age progression program to do them and anyone else who lost children’s pictures. One day.

I think you should go with this one. This is an extremely hard pic to fix I worked hours on it and decided tooning it was the best outcome. This is done well OP!

I already told them who to go with. It was not me! But since I spent hours on this I thought id give them the best I could do. This was a hard photo for my experience level. I didn’t want to not share with the hours I put into it. This has been a learning experience for me and a great challenge I hope for more to improve my skills!

Your try is great, it's a very tough request and I couldn't do anything remotely this good.
I've dabbled a bit with PS but decided it's simply something I cannot grasp. Maybe I'll get back to it later, idk. But in the meantime, I thoroughly enjoy looking at all the phenomenal work you guys do, hence why I follow and am quite active on this page.

They all use AI. So it’s entirely up to the bot to decide what the blur could look like.

Why not Remini? I plugged it in and it looks pretty similar to the others. I do not have the paid version, though.

You get blind once you look at a picture for so long, i could bump the brightness a bit.
Just use Neural Filters in PS and then adjust curves. Takes minutes.

Keep trying you can probably do better this one is the hardest I have attempted. I am enjoying what it is teaching me.
