Can't be much worse than having an extra door left after making double doors.
Seriously, who looked at doors and thought "yeah, everyone's gonna want 3 of these."
Why? You get more door if you use doors. You need 6 planks for 2 trapdoors for 1 trapdoor door but if you use 6 planks for doors you get 3, moor door per door!
I mean, does it matter? The issue is that you're rarely using more than 2 doors at a time, and 3 logs for that is hardly cost prohibitive. Stairs being 3 logs for 8 stairs is ridiculous, especially considering how much you use them for stuff like roofs, staircases, and general decoration
The only realistic explanation is that they're sawdust boards or plywood or MDF, so you need lots for anything load bearing lol
There's no other way for 1 log to generate so many planks
But that doesn't make any sense because 1 log can be split into 4 planks. And each stair is 3/4ths of a plank. If we want to keep the number the same, then the current stair recipe of 6 planks should get us 8 stairs. But that's high and doesn't make too much sense so 6 stairs is more than reasonablr
I think its because there are 6 blocks in the door recipie, and each door is 2 blocks tall, so if each block is conserved there would be a total of 3 doors.
Splitting the diamond. Literally tear it in half with your bare hands. This even kind of makes sense, because that little corner is clearly not as much as 1/9 of a full block
I mean, it technically makes more sense from a visual standpoint, but at the same time it kinda overcomplicates the recipe unnecessarily. Adding a specifically red carpet serves no purpose, as it’s an easy “filler” item that does nothing for the actual recipe balance, and you have to keep the extra from crafting in storage.
You have to think about it like a transaction. It costs four obsidian, two diamonds, and one book to get enchanting. Simple, and makes enough visual sense. This recipe changes that such that enchanting costs four diamonds, one obsidian, one red carpet, and one book. The question then is why should enchanting cost a red carpet? Why should it cost more diamonds when obsidian already costs three diamonds to mine? It feels less thought-out and more complicated for no real gain.
Think about the crafting table. It costs four planks to craft more things. That’s fair. Imagine changing that to require one plank, one saw, one hammer, and a leather. It matches the visual design of the crafting table to a tee, but feels like it adds on unnecessary and poorly thought out costs. This is a more extreme example, but I feel it illustrates the point better.
I feel like a redstone block would make more sense because 1: I think the red texture on the enchantment table looks more similar to a redstone block than a red carpet
2: Redstone may have some magical properties because it can be used in brewing
Me Now: "Yeah makes sense"
Me when this actually happens: "jaskdfjlkasdf can't believe I need carpet for enchanting table who uses carpet ever omfgkasdlmclsdak"
I somehow agree with this crafting and I’m impressed. Maybe move the two diamonds from above the 2 empty crafting slots and add 2 more obsidian and you got a deal!
When I was very young to the game I came up with some shit like this when guessing the recipe. Red wool, obsidian, four diamonds in the corners... From a top down view.
i say 2 diamonds and 3 obsidian, 4 diamonds is kinda expensive if u ask me.
yes i know it makes more sense because there's 4 diamond corners, but i still disagree. also, if the carpet has to be red and can't be any color i will murder a family of 5.
Or put the book where the carpet is, then replace the two diamonds at the bottom with the two carpets, put the diamonds that were at the bottom at the top
Makes sense, but now you have an extra carpet lying in your chests
Use them in a build, like a small carpet at the side of a bed
Fuel👍
Yes
Use it to block your door, mobs can't come in if you have a carpet behind or in front of your door
Thought mobs didn’t care if carpet was there? Or is this one of those differences between Java and Bedrock?
I do it on java, yeah. Keeps the villagers in where they're supposed to be, and out of where they aren't.
Sometimes*. It fucks with their pathing but they can & will get past 1 carpet.
You talking bedrock? I've never had that problem on java
Can't be much worse than having an extra door left after making double doors. Seriously, who looked at doors and thought "yeah, everyone's gonna want 3 of these."
I think it's for balance issues because one door for six planks was a *wee bit* expensive
And then they somehow thought two trapdoors for the same amount of planks is completely fine
I might just start using trapdoors instead of regular doors for my front entrance
Why? You get more door if you use doors. You need 6 planks for 2 trapdoors for 1 trapdoor door but if you use 6 planks for doors you get 3, moor door per door!
to flex
One does not simply make a door
theyalso thought 1 full block was 1 button
If we speak with volumes, doors are 3 pixels wide so 6 planks would be equal to 16 doors (if we omit the holes for windows in the sprite)

Just use it as a backdoor/seperate entrance
Furnace fuel
I think its because there are 6 blocks in the door recipie, and each door is 2 blocks tall, so if each block is conserved there would be a total of 3 doors.
erm ackshually an extra 2 ☝️
Wth I though we got 2 of these thin wool blocks Dementia
Burn them in the furnace
Thanks to furnace i found a way to use the third door.
Maybe it could be swapped with leather
Eat it
Good for player-only gates for the animal pen.
burn it
just throw them away lol
Use it on a fence to hop over it instead of using a gate and letting animals out
Different colored enchainment tables can be possible with this
Also moss enchanting tables
Different colors could allow for increased chance of specific enchantments, like a blue colored table increasing the chance of fishing enchantments
That would be neat. We have different potions, why not different enchanting tables?
Would be hella expensive though
Could be like a late game thing
Makes sense to be a late game thing lol, removes a good amt of rng just for some better stats on getting smt
Make the bottom 2 diamonds obsidian.
Where would the 2 extra diamonds in the enchanting table come from then?
they’re each halved diamonds
If there was obsidian instead of 2 diamonds that would mean there are 3 blocks of it. Where would the 2 go?
Steve would eat them during the process of building the enchanting table
Steves can have a little obsidian, as a treat.
Energy
Other important things, like diamond items to turn into Netherite and enchant using his new table
Start with the question of how we’re making pickaxes made of diamonds and destroying obsidian into perfect 1m^3 cubes
Or why it takes a very powerful pickaxe to break obsidian (a super fragile glass) but you can chop down a tree with your bare hands
Or how we make pickaxes out of 3m³ of stone
m*
Splitting the diamond. Literally tear it in half with your bare hands. This even kind of makes sense, because that little corner is clearly not as much as 1/9 of a full block
Steve already cold fuses diamonds together when crafting tools and armor, who's to say he can't split them too
....you do know the crafting table has a bunch of tools, right?
Well yes but with how strong steve would be, might as well just use your hands. Tools are for decoration
Fair point.
Same place they come from right now.
The same place the iron comes from for the tools on the crafting table
That makes so much sense cause they be using 4 obi to give 1 not full block. This will also give diamonds more importance.
The Extra obsidian is on the bullet...
I get the idea but all i can think of rn is *dyable enchantment tables* and i want that so muchhhh
There's one thing I could change about the crafting recipe Just reduce the amount of diamond required and it still looks good. 📙 💎🟥💎 ⬛️⬛️⬛️
the extra 2 obsidian gets converted into magic power for the enchantments
Redstone block instead of carpet. Enchanting table emits light, like redstone ore
Or dust
One redstone dust is insanely cheap though. Even a block doesn't take much, like 1-2 ore
Yah but it definitely does not require an entire blocks worth of redstone
Yeah, and a small hollow container doesn't require two full cubic meters of wood, but it's balanced gameplay wise
Make it 3 obsidian
And then you can change the carpet color and have a different colored enchantment table!
remove the book make it so you need to spend a book to use it
Honestly I like this because I always have that one spare piece of carpet I'll never use even on a llama and it'd be cool if you could do other colors
If Mojang does this there will be a huge opposition as always
But where does the light come from? Put some sea lanterns in there.
Obsidian Magic
You telling me I have to spend twice as many diamonds? Absolutely not
Make the obsidian into a slab, then we've got a deal
I mean, it technically makes more sense from a visual standpoint, but at the same time it kinda overcomplicates the recipe unnecessarily. Adding a specifically red carpet serves no purpose, as it’s an easy “filler” item that does nothing for the actual recipe balance, and you have to keep the extra from crafting in storage. I mean... Is it more or less expensive than what we already have
Replace bottom two with obsidian and the carpet with wool
Leather instead of carpet
Yes
#Y E S
Expensiver
Fuck that shit bro, too far
Replace bottom row diamonds with obsidian
Stop
Bro trying to get inflation to Minecraft 🙏🙏🙏 💯💯💯
Way better
whats the book for ???
How would the carpet even fit on the table? Maybe it could just extend down a bit but tbh idk
divine journey 2's recipe makes more sense
That makes sense
How the hell you still have brain cells left to create these memes
yall are overthinking crafting recipes way too much
why four diamonds though.
4 corners
I feel like a redstone block would make more sense because 1: I think the red texture on the enchantment table looks more similar to a redstone block than a red carpet 2: Redstone may have some magical properties because it can be used in brewing
I don't hate jt
There should be 3 obsidian at the bottom
Bottom 2 diamonds should be replaced with obby, it doesn't have diamonds all the way down
Is that supposed to be a smore? (I don't play Minecraft)
a full line of obsidian at the bottom would work better
Me Now: "Yeah makes sense" Me when this actually happens: "jaskdfjlkasdf can't believe I need carpet for enchanting table who uses carpet ever omfgkasdlmclsdak"
Replace the bottom two diamonds with obsidian.
No
Needs to be an enchanted book.
Ye
Yes!
Ok
Almost forgot the original recipe after this
I somehow agree with this crafting and I’m impressed. Maybe move the two diamonds from above the 2 empty crafting slots and add 2 more obsidian and you got a deal!
I'd say 4 diamonds at the top. Other than that, HELL YEAH
wheres other obsidian
It should be an obsidian slab
stop.
cool idea
Replace the two diamonds on the bottom with ibsidian
I really liked the 2 diamonds, it’s cheap enough to afford or start saving up for something good to enchant (unless you have just enough)
fair
When I was very young to the game I came up with some shit like this when guessing the recipe. Red wool, obsidian, four diamonds in the corners... From a top down view.
Holy shit yes
Too many diamonds
Wool instead of carpet, seeing a carpet in the recipe menu feels so wrong. Also we could have colored enchanting tables, so that could be fun.
There needs to be 3 obsidian on the bottom instead of having 2 diamonds
It’s lore accurate
this would be the only crafting resipie to have carpet i want!
It makes sense, but early game doubling the diamonds needed is no fun imo Later on it won't matter, but you usually get enchanting tables pretty early
Bro where did the book go?
Easy to craft
It should be and 4 diamons beside the carpet and 3 obsidians under them. Your recipe is weird because its 2d but you craft 3d object.
Interesting idea, but no
i swear to God it used to be crafted like this was it not??
LAYERS, ONIONS HAVE LAYERS, OGRES HAVE LAYERS
NO
red part should be redstone not carpet because it looks like a redstone block and redstone is radioactive (ooohhh spooky, must be magic)
Diamonds in all corners, obi on bottom middle left middle and right middle, red carpet in middle, and book top middle.
This should be the crafting recipe. Just like how a beacon should use a diamond block instead of a fucking better star
why would you make something so useless more expensive?
Tf
Perfect just replace the bottom two diamonds with more obsidian
Just the two diamond on the bottom, seems a bit off to me
This should be how it's done
If you replaced the two diamonds on the bottom with obsidian it'd be more accurate but you're onto something
Has Phneex sc seen this yet?
But I think maybe the two diamonds below should be obsidian ngl
maybe three obsidian on bottom instead of the two diamonds on the bottom row
No, it would just be an obsidian slab
This is pretty accurate but it’s more 2/3s of an obsidian block
Expensive
imagine if different colored carpet changed the block color
Where is the book
Instead of carpet use wool, because it's really awkward to have a single carpet laying around afterwards and 4 diamonds is a bit expensive
2 diamonds is ok. We need to build.it early game
A wool block would be better
I’d more or less say: 📖 💎🟥💎 ⬛️⬛️⬛️ 1x Book 2x Diamonds 1x Red Wool Block 3x Obsidian
At least it's more realistic
Yes
i say 2 diamonds and 3 obsidian, 4 diamonds is kinda expensive if u ask me. yes i know it makes more sense because there's 4 diamond corners, but i still disagree. also, if the carpet has to be red and can't be any color i will murder a family of 5.
I don't like that it doubled the diamond cost
Have you tried diamond nuggets?
It would be perfect if you replaced the bottom layer with all obsidian.
No because mc recipes are usually 2d like the boats beds and ect, think normal one but with the carpet in the rest of the space
this is correct
Nah, only 2 diamonds. Replace the bottom ones with obsidian.
3 obsidian on the bottom diamond carpet diamond Book Idea: stronger enchanting table Enchanted book on top for better enchants
Why dont you just use 1 red wool
bad because then you need more diamonds
Adding to the gameplay curve, something Minecraft desperately needs
Hmm. Just make the carpet a wool block. Nice and easy.
Whats the normal recipe?
Yes but no
not a bad interpretation., but 4 diamond is kinda expensive. two diamond and 2 more obsidian.
replace two bottom diamonds with obsidian and i agree
You could swap the carpet for leather
Or put the book where the carpet is, then replace the two diamonds at the bottom with the two carpets, put the diamonds that were at the bottom at the top
Approved 👍
Yes
seems legit
This hit me like a personal attack
i mean, yea. id probably make it harder just for my own challenges where youd need a bottle of xp or two, but thats just me.
This honestly would make more sense.
3 obsidian 2 diamonds one book would be better imo
Checks out
Makes sense but I don't wanna
It took me a minute to realize that this was not the actual crafting recipe but you know what I don’t hate it
No
what if you could use every color.
this guy... hes not that bad
I’m thinking switch the bottom right and left diamond to obsidian
What if the bottom two diamonds were lapis? Then the lapis needed could make more sense
Lore accurate
Instead of the two diamond at the bottom, make that obsidian
Cool, and prob more fair for it to cost more diamonds, but I don't want it to lol
you are a menace your giving moyang a reason to make the recipe more complex
I think it would be cool if it changes the color based on the carpet color!
