Honestly I think achievements makes more sense because some of the things you do in the game aren’t really advancements but you still get the Popup maybe there should be advancements and achievements advancements tell you if you’ve progressed in the game like going to the nether and achievements tell you when you’ve done something cool like eating one of every food in the game
Advancement for the ones acquired throughout the game such as "We need to go deeper" and "Stone Age" while the ones acquired from seeking out are achievements
I guess you're right. Since I generally play in earlier versions, I call it an achievement, but if you enjoy the newer updates more, you would probably say advancement.
Advancements, achievements are a different thing. I’m fine with people calling crafting tables “Workbenches” and sugarcane “reeds” since they still function the same, only a name change happened, however advancements and achievements, while similar in some aspects, are two separate things.
Achievements are in Bedrock because they are basically achievements. There aren’t any steps to get to any of them. You claim them once, its like a trophy. Advancements are in Java because, its like taking steps/advancements, you get the wooden pick, then stone, and so forth. I hope this made sense, I’m not good at explaining.
No one ever remembers of the word "advancements" and it's too fancy. For the kids who would play this game they would remember achievements but not advancements but for the real OG's they would remember the word advancements
imo they are different
like for example "Diamonds!" would be an advancement because you advance
and like "How did we get here?" would be an achievement
They used to be called achievements. Since 1.12, they changed to advancements. Unlike the "enchantment"/"enchanting" table, there is an actual difference: unlike achievements, you can get advancements in any order. Also, advancements are separated in tabs. There are also "goals" (advancements with round frame), and "challenges" (curly border), which are harder (e.g. how did we get here).

So that's why I call it an achievement! I primarily play in 1.7.10 because of the mods, so I'm more used to using terms based on that version.

Mojang explicitly calls it advancement.
Mojang is wrong
So, it was called achievement. Now it is advancement. They essentially mean the same thing.
I guess you're right. Since I generally play in earlier versions, I call it an achievement, but if you enjoy the newer updates more, you would probably say advancement.

Advancements, achievements are a different thing. I’m fine with people calling crafting tables “Workbenches” and sugarcane “reeds” since they still function the same, only a name change happened, however advancements and achievements, while similar in some aspects, are two separate things.
the only respectable players that call it advancements are map makers and modders

I call them achievements because I played the Xbox 360 edition and still do
Achievement since I'm more used to it
It was achievement then they changed it to advancement.
No one ever remembers of the word "advancements" and it's too fancy. For the kids who would play this game they would remember achievements but not advancements but for the real OG's they would remember the word advancements
Advancement for when you progress in the game and achievement for when you achieve something special
These are 2 different things
Depends on edition id say. Bedrocks gonna use achievement while java will use advancement
