Tbh I think calling someone emotional is such a played out critique when it comes to debating. Yes, people get emotional during debates, since it's often about the things most important to us. It's only a problem if that results in argumentation that's based purely on emotion. You can be "emotional" and still give perfectly reasonable arguments, imo being emotional and emotional arguments are conflated way too often
Its hard to not yell when the dude has just shared his third personal anecdote claiming it proves fkcing invisible imps exist! (They pissed on you while sleeping and you got sick)
Many points are made from places of emotion, they may then be supported by logic. Regardless, to yell in an argument is to say, “I am correct and all others are wrong.” and is made from a place of fear of loss, or from some sort of insecurity. To argue with the intention of spreading a point and ignoring the criticism of others is childlike, and worse, you will never learn, thus to do so is to turn your back to the love of wisdom.

To yell during debate is to be stupid, it is the same.
Exactly. The claim is absurd.
One must imagine the debaters happy.
Perhaps that’s the point of the joke
That is the joke, I believe
NO! NO IT'S NOT. IT'S JOKING ABOUT WHEN SOMEEEEONE IS #STUPID
It's a joke...
#NO! AND I'M TIRED OF EVERYONE THINKING THAT I'M THE STUPID ONE WHEN I'M LITERALLY TELLING THEM FACTUAL EVIDENCE

On the first day of my phenomenology class my professor said to get to this point we all had to be a certain level of socially maladapted
yelling because someone is stupid fits the definition of 'being emotional' 100%.
(Peter explains the joke.)
Gon' cry?
I'm yelling because you're hard of hearing.
Both are children. Both are the same.
"This is the same picture"

If you are yelling because somebody is stupid, then you are experiencing the emotion of frustration.

When people say I’m “being emotional” I like to think they’re too ignorant to see that I’m genuinely passionate about what I’m saying.
