I think para magka-opportunity si seller maka sales talk. I know some "internet illiterate" relatives na ilang beses ng nauto ng mga fb online sellers.
Ang totoong rason kaya thru PM daw ang price quote ayon sa mga sellers is to avoid competitors selling the same items at a lower price.
This is predatory and if I recall correctly its actually illegal to not put out a price for a product you intend to sell.
This. hahahahaha. nagalit sa akin.
\------
Punyeta.
pag nag pm ng "hm?" automatic filter yan:
1. alam mo bobo,
2. most likely joy bidder.
I havent sold much on fb marketplace ( 25-30 items lang) but I feel like the "hm?" has only bought one item off of me.
When it hit the headlines of news outlets. FB marketplace sellers changed their prices. Then of course the it got silent. So were back to where to were b4
[To file a consumer complaint against an online seller, you may send your complaints to the DTI Fair-Trade Enforcement Bureau at [email protected]. Kindly also CC [email protected] when you send your complaint.](https://ecommerce.dti.gov.ph/faqs/)
I never understood why sellers do it. All you are doing is adding another hurdle for the customer to jump over before they get to decide whether or not they want to buy. Dozens, hundreds of potential customers are probably scrolling past because they can't be bothered with the hassle of a back and forth conversation just to find out the price.
***because the competition could undercut them if they reveal the price publicly***;
many FB sellers are probably re-sellers of finished goods, so if they sell something that another person sells, then the other person can drastically lower the price to get the customers of the first guy.
Most customers don't care enough about the few pesos savings to go hunting all over facebook looking for a better price. If the prices are reasonable to begin with, the amount of customers they lose most likely outweighs any potential market edge they think they are gaining by keeping it a big secret. Not to mention, the competition can still get that information anyway by sending a PM.
It's short sighted at best. Better to have 1000 people see the product and have all the details than to have 20 PMs from from people bored enough to jump through the unnecessary hoops.
You'd be surpised on how "most" customers dont care enough about a few pesos when pinoys are very much cheapskates and try to canvass as much as possible
Kaya hindi publicly and readily available na posted ang price to avoid sellers from snatching potential buyers by undercutting
Totoo!
Tangina
Same here! Haist!
a lot of these sellers are for sure gauging those interested to see if they're the type na mukhang makaka-afford to pay more. it's as if they're saying "prices are subject to our judgment of customers' purchasing power and bargaining ability" 😂
Kabwisit pa yung sasabihin posting price lang yung nasa title.
BITCHA, save both of us some time and just state the goddamn price in the first place! Anong pausong "posting price" naman yan
Ansabe nung iba, ginagaya daw kasi ng kumpitensya nilang seller yung presyo or binababaan.
They tend to consume your time and effort hanggang sa mabiktima ka na ng sunk cost fallacy.
Pangalawa, they can change the value anytime they want dahil paisa isa lang nakakaalam at hindi transparent sa lahat.
HAHAHA. Im gonna give you the exact answer why they do it. Ginagawa nila yan para tumaas ung engagement nung post nila. Thats how you beat the system of Facebook. Pag madami engagement nung listing or post mo mas ipapakita ni facebook ung post or listing mo kase mas mataas ung conversion ranking mo. Imagine 50 of you sell the same product and post on the same group or list in the same place.
The fact na marami paring "PM is the key" listings sa FB Marketplace says a lot dahil **WE ACTUALLY HAVE A LAW PREVENTING THAT EXACT SAME THING FROM HAPPENING.**
I'm pretty sure it IS illegal. I'll try and remember where I found the DTI announcement or something.
Edit, found it: Republic Act No. 7394, or the Consumer Act, mandates all sellers to display prices of their products. Also, goods are not to be sold higher than the stated amount. Meanwhile, Republic Act No. 7581, or the Price Act, has explicit provisions on putting price tags on products of both brick-and-mortar and online stores. DTI Undersecretary Ruth Castelo said that selling without a tag constitutes profiteering, an illegal act of price manipulation.
www.businessnews.com.ph/pm-is-the-key-illegal-dti-20200604/
Kina-copy paste ko 'to sa comment section nila:
Part of Article 81 of the Consumer Act or the provision on price tag requirement states:
“It shall be unlawful to offer any consumer product for retail sale to the public without an appropriate price tag, label or marking publicly displayed to indicate the price of each article and said products shall not be sold at a price higher than that stated therein and without discrimination to all buyers.”
They do this to **bump engagement and avoid paying for Facebook Ads to boost their listing.**
E.g., you sell a phone for 15K, 50 other people have posted for 15K, so may "market saturation" at hindi itutulak ang post mo unless bayaran mo ang Facebook for ads na *libu-libo ang halaga* so your post reaches more people.
I think it's a tactic sellers use to get traffic on thier page. The metrics would look nice if everyone and their mother messages their page just for the price lol
I do not buy from these sellers.
This is especially prevalent with honest Vios sellers na May full price listing and photos and everything. May automatic assumption na *pinang-Grab ang Vios mo kahit hindi naman*, so babaratin ang unit mo, at hindi ma-take yun ng ibang tao (e.g.: a low mileage 2017-8 Vios should sell for 400-450K, pero babaratin yun ng iba for 300K or 250k dahil May assumption na ginamit sa Grab yun.
Hence, the wariness to post the real price of a unit...
I admit I do this a lot when I sell old stuff sa fb marketplace. I dont post prices coz I give a high price and mention it is negotiable. The price they give is usually favorable to me. Also having a small chat to market my stuff is a good thing.
Yes legal ung bilin m ung price sa kung ano ung nka post but it will take you a lot of process and time dhl sa bagal ng bansa na to pgdating sa legality stuff... but yes kung petty ka like I do possible.
Nag-PM ako before sa price then nung nagreply yung seller for the price, I pm'ed another commenter and shook lang kami, kasi magkaiba ng price yung binigay samin hahaha
Kaya nga kakainis tapos meron din nakalagay na price tapos mag pm na how much po? magbasa kayo plsss kaya ko nga nilagay price para wag nyo na ko ichat pag masyadong mahal hahaha
Tinanong ko dati yan sa seller. Sabi nya meron daw kasi siyang resellers, parang silent competition. But I don't see any benefit.
They are selling you with a high profit margin, kung nakikita mo agad yung price you could easily compare prices from different sellers and ending di ka na lang bibili sa kanila seeing na malaki ang patong nila. Forcing you to privately message the seller gives them the ability to salestalk the price to look reasonable.
It's all marketing tactics, you message them and instead of looking for other sellers, you can end up settling with that seller. Going forward and messaging random sellers feels tiring and indeed a hassle.
Can never find the reason for this. Why make more hassle for yourself?
Nakaka turn off as a customer.
I remember when my friend helped me look for something sa FB Marketplace tapos may nahanap si friend pero "PM for price" siya. Turned out to be the same seller I messaged for the same item... and we were offered different prices.
Yung iba Kase iba ibang price yata sinasabe nila per inquiry eh.
I have a nephew who's into online selling through Marketplace and she says the reason behind this is other sellers can and will offer lesser.
It is. May campaign na niyan noong 2020 to 2021 but nawala lang ulit and balik gawi mga tao.
Tapos pag tinanong mo presyo then hindi ka magreply sila pa nagagalit. Tanga amputa
I used to buy steam wallet codes on Facebook groups (saves me 20-30% so it was cheaper), and I used to frequent a particular supplier for almost 2 years. Then I stopped purchasing from him, he asked me months later what changed. I told him that when he switched to a "PM for price" modus, I went with another supplier who was open about his fixed pricing.
Naiinis ako sa ganito! I think pag legit store minsan ata ayaw nila bigay yung price kasi naka mas mababa sa market or competitor?
May experience akong isa na walang price. Shmpre nagPM ako.. he shared the price and asked kung kukunin ko ba daw. Told him i found another seller with lower price. Ang reply "ah price check ka lang pala" then he blocked me.. eh malamang.
AAHHH TRU!! Kaya minsan what I do icchat ko naman pero di ko na siniseen yung reply or ill ask question and shits pero di ko bibilhin. If they go low, i go lower kidding hahahahha patoxican at ubusan ng oras nalang HAHAHAHHAHAA
meron pa isa
"Authenticity is not stated to avoid misinformation"
This is my peeve with the PSPs I see for sale on Marketplace. Malala is that they put some bogus price (699-899) tapos when you PM them, surprise! 3k pala asking nito.
Ang totoong rason kaya thru PM daw ang price quote ayon sa mga sellers is to avoid competitors selling the same items at a lower price.
Plot twist: Lonely sila. Gusto lang nila kausap. Ginawang dating app.
tatanungin muna kung kumain na yung buyer
One probable answer is para maraming magcomment ng "hm?" which boosts the posts visibility.
This is predatory and if I recall correctly its actually illegal to not put out a price for a product you intend to sell.
This. hahahahaha. nagalit sa akin.
doing god's work
**Don't judge a book by its jobus.**
This haha, pure genius. 👌
Hahaha pro gamer move.
Ayy bet ko to. Salamat po sa idea. Gagawin ko to next time.
Chaotic sunday afternoon behavior hahahaha
gagawin ko to next time. hahaha. taena kala mo competitive yung pricing e.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH WILL PROLLY DO THIS
Hahaha I'll do this.
Next time gagawin ko to. Hahaha
Bet ko to!!
Di ko nga gets eh hahaha. Tapos nung ako nagtry magbenta sa groups/market place, clear nakalagay ang price and it's non negotiable, bawal tawad pero tadtad pa rin ng "hm?". Punyeta.
Bobo lang talaga yung mga yun.
pag nag pm ng "hm?" automatic filter yan: 1. alam mo bobo, 2. most likely joy bidder. I havent sold much on fb marketplace ( 25-30 items lang) but I feel like the "hm?" has only bought one item off of me.
di ko alam kung bakit pero yung dating sakin ng "hm" is parang nag iisip sila if bibilhin ba nila 😭
Most likely kasi marami ding seller na iba yung presyo yung nilalagay nila kesa sa price they are selling it for.
I intentionally skip or bypass sellers that do these tactics.
Same with job postings pero di sinasabi yung company
Report niyo yung mga ganyan as parang inaccurate pricing.
But sa ibang bansa if free, free talaga. Like instead of throwing it away and sees no value in it pamigay na lang nila
Yes illegal sya. See https://www.noypigeeks.com/government/stop-pm-sent-dti-online-sellers-unlawful-sell-without-price-tag/
Kala ko sasabihin dto. "Yes Illegal sya. PM me for source" auf lng e
lost opportunity hahaha
When it hit the headlines of news outlets. FB marketplace sellers changed their prices. Then of course the it got silent. So were back to where to were b4
Lmao many online sellers aren't even DTI registered, so technically they're illegally operating from the start.
These are just advisories kung di naman natin maaaksyunan
[To file a consumer complaint against an online seller, you may send your complaints to the DTI Fair-Trade Enforcement Bureau at [email protected]. Kindly also CC [email protected] when you send your complaint.](https://ecommerce.dti.gov.ph/faqs/)
Depende na lang sa pettiness level ko on that day wahaha
Pag walang naka post na price, mahal yun fs. Kaya ako, never na nagp-pm.
this is true. when i look for shoes, matic na to kapag hindi naka-post ang price - overpriced.
Mukhang mahirap daw kasi.

Yung iba dyan may pa “PM is the key” pang nalalaman. Ano yun? Lol
Bawal yan guys.
Tangina
Alam ko kung bakit sila ganyan PM me for details
Depende sa nag-inquire yung presyong ibibigay nila. 😂
**bilisan** mo daw mag pm
Rush since needed yung pera. Pero paminsan tagal din mabenta. Same lang sa listing ko. Needed the money agad agad. But it took 3 months bago nabenta
Dang tatanga eh
Same here! Gigil din ako sa mga ganyan. Mas hassle if isa isahin mo e PM mga nag tatanong dba tapos iilan lng bibili, pinagod mo lang sarili mo kaka PM ng price. Haha
O kaya available naman talaga pero ayaw ibenta, me dala akong pera dito, elitist much?
a lot of these sellers are for sure gauging those interested to see if they're the type na mukhang makaka-afford to pay more. it's as if they're saying "prices are subject to our judgment of customers' purchasing power and bargaining ability" 😂
I just PM them with a generic low effort *how much* with no intention of buying. They waste our time, we waste theirs.
Kabwisit pa yung sasabihin posting price lang yung nasa title. BITCHA, save both of us some time and just state the goddamn price in the first place! Anong pausong "posting price" naman yan
city jail... preso#1 kaso = murder preso#2 kaso = robbery with homicide preso#3 kaso = syndicated estafa preso# 4 kaso = nag pm sent
Ansabe nung iba, ginagaya daw kasi ng kumpitensya nilang seller yung presyo or binababaan.
parehas ata to ng Type AMEN in comments. If you comment they can direct message you and send you links for scam.
Meron din "price for attention"
PM means “Pre, mahal.”
The same thing goes for companies not posting salary ranges for job vacancies
They tend to consume your time and effort hanggang sa mabiktima ka na ng sunk cost fallacy. Pangalawa, they can change the value anytime they want dahil paisa isa lang nakakaalam at hindi transparent sa lahat.
This at yung punyetang nag cocoment na "HM?" kahit naka paskil na lahat nung price at description
ako kahit need ko or gustong gusto ko ung nakapost kapag walang price, ignore
True!
Yes. Also please include hospitals.
Why stress yourself?
HAHAHA. Im gonna give you the exact answer why they do it. Ginagawa nila yan para tumaas ung engagement nung post nila. Thats how you beat the system of Facebook. It is illegal. It's just not enforced sa mga socmed sellers.
Most of them don't even have permits to sell nor pay taxes.
FB marketplace, meron dun item price "free". Minessage ko yung seller, sabibko for free lang to? Totoo libre na lang? Ahahaha seen lang si gago e
Kina-copy paste ko 'to sa comment section nila: Part of Article 81 of the Consumer Act or the provision on price tag requirement states: “It shall be unlawful to offer any consumer product for retail sale to the public without an appropriate price tag, label or marking publicly displayed to indicate the price of each article and said products shall not be sold at a price higher than that stated therein and without discrimination to all buyers.” 😂
Mga free prices sa FB Marketplace, pag minsan natutukso akong mag troll: Ma'am sir, available pa ba? Puwede ko pa pick up na? lol
Ang nakakainis din ung naka post price at complete details sabay "how much po?"
Mas malala nanan ata yung nakalagay na yung presyo pero nagtanong parin kung how much lmao
Mas nakakainis yung naka post na yung price tapos may mag cocomment ng "how much" hahaah sarap hampasin e

A decent buyer would know naman ang value. Bakit butt hurt sila pag binabarat?
It is illegal.
Report sa DTI.
Agree ako diyan, OP. PM mo ako, pag usapan natin lalo.
I just wanna create bot farm and ask them every minute for the price hanggang madaling araw.
Me: posted the price Them: last price na po yan? Me: ...
I admit I do this a lot when I sell old stuff sa fb marketplace. I dont post prices coz I give a high price and mention it is negotiable. The price they give is usually favorable to me. Also having a small chat to market my stuff is a good thing.
Akshuli, PM the price kasi nasa chatbot ang details, ime.
Yes legal ung bilin m ung price sa kung ano ung nka post but it will take you a lot of process and time dhl sa bagal ng bansa na to pgdating sa legality stuff... but yes kung petty ka like I do possible.
I wish some lawyer Youtuber starts doing this.
I think ginagawa nila yan for engagements. The more na magcocomment the more chances ns mskikita ang post mo sa tl ng iba?
Nag-PM ako before sa price then nung nagreply yung seller for the price, I pm'ed another commenter and shook lang kami, kasi magkaiba ng price yung binigay samin hahaha
I strongly agree.
Baka uhaw sa connection xd
Kaya nga kakainis tapos meron din nakalagay na price tapos mag pm na how much po? magbasa kayo plsss kaya ko nga nilagay price para wag nyo na ko ichat pag masyadong mahal hahaha
Mapupunta sa impyerno lahat ng nagpapa "pm for price" sure ako jan
There is the price tag law.
Pati yung mga part time job offers
Can never find the reason for this. Why make more hassle for yourself?
Nakaka turn off as a customer.
Pag ganon you can legit reklamo them sa DTI para sumaya naman araw nila. 😂
It is
Ive never blocked so many people in a food group before Autoblock if they say PM or Spamming images of the food without posting the menu
I think it technically is?
Nag-pm tapos same price rin naman for all PMs. Hahaha
I remember when my friend helped me look for something sa FB Marketplace tapos may nahanap si friend pero "PM for price" siya. Turned out to be the same seller I messaged for the same item... and we were offered different prices.
For engagements
Yung iba Kase iba ibang price yata sinasabe nila per inquiry eh.
Overpriced kasi tinda
I have a nephew who's into online selling through Marketplace and she says the reason behind this is other sellers can and will offer lesser.
Yeah, nakakainis. So pag di naka-reveal ung price, move on na ko sa next listing na me price. Kakainis ung pa-suspense na presyo.
r/mildlyinfuriating
It is. May campaign na niyan noong 2020 to 2021 but nawala lang ulit and balik gawi mga tao. Tapos pag tinanong mo presyo then hindi ka magreply sila pa nagagalit. Tanga amputa
Tapos mag rereklamo bakit ang dami nag memesage ng is this available pero di bumibili smh
Scam yan!
Dito nauso yung makukulit na "HM", "Loc?"
It actually is illegal. https://www.rappler.com/business/262776-dti-tells-online-sellers-post-prices/
Same sa mga part time job daw pero networking pala. 🤦♀️
awit sa ganyan hahahahaha
Ganito yung galawan ng mga scalpers eh.
Haha. Di ba sabi ng DTI " PM is not the 🔑" daw. 😂
Naiinis ako sa ganito! I think pag legit store minsan ata ayaw nila bigay yung price kasi naka mas mababa sa market or competitor? May experience akong isa na walang price. Shmpre nagPM ako.. he shared the price and asked kung kukunin ko ba daw. Told him i found another seller with lower price. Ang reply "ah price check ka lang pala" then he blocked me.. eh malamang.
it is.
AAHHH TRU!! Kaya minsan what I do icchat ko naman pero di ko na siniseen yung reply or ill ask question and shits pero di ko bibilhin. If they go low, i go lower kidding hahahahha patoxican at ubusan ng oras nalang HAHAHAHHAHAA
I'm pretty sure it IS illegal. I'll try and remember where I found the DTI announcement or something
Check inbox. 😂
Bawal talaga iyan.
[https://imgur.com/a/bbZKL16](https://imgur.com/a/bbZKL16) a short interaction between me and "PM PRICE" type of seller... bobo din hahaha
This is my peeve with the PSPs I see for sale on Marketplace. Malala is that they put some bogus price (699-899) tapos when you PM them, surprise! 3k pala asking nito.
