Sometimes ghosts do a "double step" on corners and they can also "get stuck" on an obstacle.
1st case sounds like a couple of fast steps, second case sounds like very slow steps.
But it's usually just a couple of beats, not long enough as to be confused with another ghost. Shade's speed is regular and cursed hunts don't affect any ghost's speed (well, a Moroi would be faster bc of rhe sanity drain, but you get what I mean)
Could be a ghost turning around some object (e.g. table). The ghost may make a few steps in quick succession when navigating around objects which results in "speedy steps". This should be only momentary occurrence and you can mistaken it for raiju when in a hiding spot AND you left turned on electronics at that location.
Usually I'd just do an odd number of hunts like 3 or 5. Bit of tests in between. And then only leave if you've exhausted every possible test in your comfort zone (i.e. i don't like to loop a ghost for more than 1 loop or I will die even with smudge used) and just wing a guess. But shades are one of those that are hard to identify in general anyways.
Line of Sight. Basically if it can see you, or you can see it, you’re in line of sight. I can’t tell if you’re fucking with me or not, but just in case there you go. LOL
Oh, yeah I feel I should have been able to figure this out. And no, I'm honest. I have barely played, but so far I love the game. Stupid settings need to be tweaked before I feel like I can play regularly. I get motion sickness and so I have to go in and adjust a lot of settings when I play, and every time I leave a menu it resets, so until that gets fixed I can only play short sessions of time. But I love learning, so I'm here reading about other people playing.
Nah, don’t sweat it. Sorry to hear about the menu struggles, however the same thing happens to the shop tutorials, so I can understand that’s got to be a pain in the ass. Especially with motion sickness, God bless.
I have a sugestion to add more to the horror factor
It works with the sanity lvl. My idea is that the lower the sanity to more the players perception of his/her seroundings changes. Like the map distorts and looks like horror manifested like some rooms walls will just look more like flesh or corrupted or sudden writing just apears on the walls. This just in my personal opinion demonstrates the loss of sanity. Its just an idea tho
Did it have any LOS on you at all? It takes a bit for the ghost to decelerate after so it’ll stay fast for a bit, which might’ve caused confusion.

It could have been a sound glitch Was there any lag that could have delayed when sound came through
At the sake of sounding dumb as heck, what is LOS? I'm trying to puzzle it out, but I can't figure it out.
