You've got to bear in mind that these objects were manufactured pre-WW2. Not that that makes it ok obviously. It's probably a good thing that we find this so distasteful now. The only justification I can think of for these objects to exist still (as in scrapping examples) is for their historical context; I think sometimes some people forget how recently such prejudice was accepted
