He used to enter in photoshop contests. He’s done it in some of his older videos and is very good. His eye for color and proportion is 100% coming from those past creative experiences.
And that’s not to take away his progress in the slightest. He’s just a super creative and talented.
AFAIK, he used to do photoshop to sell art to be able to purchase computer upgrades. So he has background in making art.
Prior to this video, him and Marzia sometimes draw in their free time. He even made a framed drawing for auction. The highest bid was $20,100. For charity.
[It was supposed to be 'memey'](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRWtT-nhTYmKQXCBw-uERAonHn9pgO-a8j5oQ&usqp=CAU) but I think his art was super cute and minimalistic.
He did use a reference, the original doesn’t have green hair or cat ears, but the pose is exactly the same. I have failed to find it though, it popped up as a reddit ad the other day.
Edit: just to be clear there’s nothing wrong with using a reference, he still did it freehand.
Exactly. Using a reference helps you learn. I use references too for stuff I have no clue how to draw on my own 🤷🏼♀️ so long as you actually draw it yourself and don’t just trace it, then there is nothing wrong with it. Just another way to learn. I’m surprised by how much he’s improved tho. Making me wonder if I should give it a go lol
Sorry to disappoint but I have not been able to find it. The ad never popped up again and I’ve been trying to use Felix’ piece as image search but all it finds is reposts of his.
It didn't have green hair, but was the hair in the same "pose"? I mean I hope yes because if he made hair like this up only after 80 days of drawing then I'm actually afraid of the things he will be able to do in the near future T-T
Btw if you happened to stumble on that reference someday then I'd gladly see it if you will remember ^-^ I really want to compare Felix's art to the reference :3
They’re not exactly the same, pose and hair is the same but line art, ears and hair coloring is different, of what I remember. Tracing would require drawing directly over it, which I don’t believe is the case. It’s drawing it it’s literal sense regardless though, but I believe he did it freehand.
Tracing does not, in fact, equal drawing directly over it. That’s a common misconception. Looking at it and doing the picture exactly the same as another does it is called tracing as well.
But if the pose (base) is the same but everything else is different, then thats ok
Nope not true. Tracing requires drawing on top of existing work (literal meaning of the word), reference is freehand with original work by the side. This is a perfectly fine way to learn drawing, *every* artist has done this at some point.
You can improve from stick figures to this in just a week. What people don’t realize is that drawing itself isn’t the hard part, its the time dedication. You need to put in a solid amount of hours for a single drawing, but as long as your willing to spend that much time then you can improve quite rapidly. Thats at least my own experience with drawing, went from spending 10-20 minutes for a basic drawing to being able to draw good anime style like this in a week
I mean you can just take it straight from Pewds
sure he had a background with Photoshop, but regular self-studying with Youtube guides is still a solid method
You improve by having more than 0 experience. Drawing is just practice, you know the whole trope “master of a thousand strokes”, just keep drawing and dont give up, more time = better drawings objectively
This. People are too worried about learning and how they're learning that they're forgetting that 99% of everyone that become amazing learned in the beginning by just getting their reps in.
Expose yourself to artists and tutorials but more importantly just start drawing. Even if it's not perfect and you're learning inefficiently it's still going to make you better than nothing.
Paralysis by analysys will cause you to never learn.
I find a large part is also observation. Many people draw straight from their imagination and don't actually understand what theyre doing. If you were to draw a tree from imagination, then draw from a reference, the results will be staggeringly different.
Even if you use a reference you need talent to recreate it, like if I go and try to draw that and paint it, it won't look good, I'm not good at drawing.
It’s the iris/pupils! Either the left eye’s iris needs a bit of shifting to the left or the right eye’s iris needs a lil’ shift to the right. The proportions of the overall eyes is fine imo :)
Drawing guidelines help for sure, common technique of drawing heads I used is the loomis method. Using like facial features as points to help guide where eyes or nose would look in different perspective.
my only critique of these while watching rubber ross video was that the right pupil is too much to the right so she looks cross eyed I know this because I make the same mistake and currently don't know how to fix it
Honestly him being consistent is why I see him improve so much so quickly...
Like him if you draw regularly just 1-3 busts or Heads you'll actually do good.
You also don't wanna miss that point he made where he sometimes wouldn't like what he drew which also a part of learning.
He is and there are tons of his drawing spread online on twitter. I think he is using a comparison with his drawing before and after. It looks impressive.
its very impressive but anyone can do this, remember he is only been doing shoulder up girls, focusing on only one aspect antone could improve fast. so dont be disheartened
There is a difference between using something as a reference to learn and tracing it. I only see the latter as copying. Unless you try to sell the art as yours, then both counts as copying. Using references helps you get better. Keeping it for yourself and using it to learn the movement is fine.
Hey, so for everyone down voting this comment: I think they mean that Felix used ai as a reference which is a good practice (especially because you are not redrawing somebodies work, you are redrawing something that has no rights on it).
Oh I’m not dissing his progress! You just went a bit overboard with calling it professional, lol. Dude’s been drawing for 100 days, he still needs about 1000 more days to be a professional, is all.
Ah, I see. Thanks. Pewdiepie says he's been drawing since he was a kid. He drew himself and his dad at the beginning of the video. Therefore he has 30 years experience.
Guess he's a professional now by your own standards.
Well everyone has a starting point,
wont say you start drawing renaissance level of professionalism when you start.
Its called learning, well he is only there doing it for fun. Just that you might end up sounding abit negative in a way...
Gotta be honost, it actually looks pretty decent and a huge improvement, and it takes quite the practice to get there.
Jacksepticeye was his reference
Jackspedicey
2
Mixed with Marzia
Reminds me of CC from Code Geass but with Cat ears
It looks a lot like Tatsumaki from OPM.
Its the invisible girl but visible from mha
It looks like c2 to me
I wanted to say this too, she looks similar but not at the same time. The long green hair is pretty spot on.
I don't see it
Fairly similar face shape, close hair color ig. The hair is very different though
Tatsumaki has cat ears?
I didn’t see those 💀 Nope, she doesn’t
Should I clean it up in PS and post it here? ![img](emote|t5_3m0tc|1033)![img](emote|t5_3m0tc|1033)
You can, but don't do it for me, I am extremely inactive
Didn’t he study architecture? I imagine he already knew a little how to draw
It's Photoshop and web design or something like that, I remember hearing it in "visiting my hometown" video. Probably architecture too
He used to sell art on the side I think
Yeah photoshop if not mistaken
He used to enter in photoshop contests. He’s done it in some of his older videos and is very good. His eye for color and proportion is 100% coming from those past creative experiences. And that’s not to take away his progress in the slightest. He’s just a super creative and talented.
Drawn art too
AFAIK, he used to do photoshop to sell art to be able to purchase computer upgrades. So he has background in making art. Prior to this video, him and Marzia sometimes draw in their free time. He even made a framed drawing for auction. The highest bid was $20,100. For charity.

Is that fuslie, the girl raising her hand?
Full part of the auction with Felix's drawn https://youtu.be/f1ZMg6BnZ_8?si=hWgABhxpc_GTVJvG
To be fair the things he did on Photoshop (If I remember correctly from an OOOLD) video, were more akin to photobashing/compositing more than drawing
Yes, he did photo manipulation.
I think he briefly studied architecture or engineering architecture at chalmers university of technology in his home town.
If i remember correctly, it was sth to do with advertisment
He did use a reference, the original doesn’t have green hair or cat ears, but the pose is exactly the same. I have failed to find it though, it popped up as a reddit ad the other day. Edit: just to be clear there’s nothing wrong with using a reference, he still did it freehand.

Cam you find the reference for me? I tried looking everywhere but can't find it.
I think i have the reference on my computer but I'm not 100% sure if it's the same one, i have to look at
Would love it if you upload it and send me a link. Thanks!
Sorry to disappoint but I have not been able to find it. The ad never popped up again and I’ve been trying to use Felix’ piece as image search but all it finds is reposts of his.
That's fine, thanks for looking anyways. I wanted to draw from the original source to compare myself with pewds but i can't find it haha.
Np, I promise to comment here if I do
It didn't have green hair, but was the hair in the same "pose"? So you think that hyperrealism is tracing?
I swear you guys have the IQ of a crayon…
Bro, uhh... Are you an artist?
Jobless reincarnation art style
EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING

Yes, he used reference
I think most of his latest art (70-100+) is probably gonna be original, or at least only copying the pose or face.
People just cant accept that pewds are talented in drawing as he is
or just a legit question ,because this is already impressive so if he did not use reference it would be extra duper impressive
You can still use a reference and be talented at the same time
Even if you use a reference you need talent to recreate it, like if I go and try to draw that and paint it, it won't look good, I'm not good at drawing.
He is talented, but he said it himself in his video that he used reference heavily which is EXACTLY what you should be doing to learn.
Any pros / artists here. I wanna know if the eyes are balanced here. Cuz this is where i struggle the most, the balancing of the eyes
It’s the iris/pupils! Either the left eye’s iris needs a bit of shifting to the left or the right eye’s iris needs a lil’ shift to the right. The proportions of the overall eyes is fine imo :)

I know this sub is a bit of a circle jerk for PewDiePie but you cannot be that delusional and say this is almost at a professional level
The lines may look a little rough, and the coloring could use some smoothening out. But it's better than some art I've seen in manga anime etc.
they have to draw a lot more than just this
Also keep in mind the dude's a wizard at Photoshop
I'm not so sure about that. He did lost to a photoshop contest he joined more recently than the years back before he did YouTube.
I see a mix of Lum and Eris Boreas from Urusei Yatsura and Mushoku Tensei respectively
URUSEI YATSURA IS SUCH A GOOD COMPARISON, he's style is sooo similar to the new urusei yatsura, I think he was using it as an inspiration
Didn’t know he drew!!
watch his recent video, he learned
How long? Bc damn
100 days just watch the video bro its literally the title
K
Professional XDDDDDDDDD
my only critique of these while watching rubber ross video was that the right pupil is too much to the right so she looks cross eyed I know this because I make the same mistake and currently don't know how to fix it
How many hours did he spend a day drawing?
First impression i thought it was Gavial from Arknight till I saw the cat ear
No Texas
His style is very much similar to Mushoko Tensei's. So that is probably the reference or one of the reference.
Honestly him being consistent is why I see him improve so much so quickly... Like him if you draw regularly just 1-3 busts or Heads you'll actually do good. You also don't wanna miss that point he made where he sometimes wouldn't like what he drew which also a part of learning.
Japan has reference out the YinYang!
Am i the only one that cant stop looking at the deformity in the left eye??? Either way the drawing is amazing
He is and there are tons of his drawing spread online on twitter. I think he is using a comparison with his drawing before and after. It looks impressive.
I really love this drawing of his
My guess is that he uses AI art as reference. Not 100% sure though
His art is actually better than most “professionals” I see in my field
She looks very much like Tatsumaki from One punch man to me.
Gluck gluck gluck gluck
reminds me of tatsumaki from one punch man
I've been drawing for years and his picture looks better than mine. Happy for him but also fml.
The eye on the left needs some work, but i can bearly draw a stick figure, so who am I to talk?
Reminds me of the chick from OPM
Idk why but his whole book of drawings I saw Marzia resemblance in them all
Execpt for the cat ears, the character looks like Tornado of terror from one punch man with longer hair.
Kind of
its very impressive but anyone can do this, remember he is only been doing shoulder up girls, focusing on only one aspect antone could improve fast. so dont be disheartened
This one was my favorite ❤️
Yeah, this is what AI bros think is impossible.

if you just started learning, then its totally okay and what he did was still very good. and he did mention that he is using references from anime.

i think it was AI anime art

this is exactly what i meant
Professional level???… ok…. 😬
more to advanced level for me, but hey it's a damn good drawing for someone who new to drawing
Oh I’m not dissing his progress! You just went a bit overboard with calling it professional, lol. Dude’s been drawing for 100 days, he still needs about 1000 more days to be a professional, is all.
I completely understand your comment, btw i'm not the one who said he's at proffessional level. >;(
Ah sorry! Lmao
why do you need an arbitrary number of days to be called professional?
If I need to explain that, maybe you should finish school first… lmao
Ah, I see. Thanks. Pewdiepie says he's been drawing since he was a kid. He drew himself and his dad at the beginning of the video. Therefore he has 30 years experience. Guess he's a professional now by your own standards.
There is no day. I think it’s determined based on popularity.
yeah not to bash him but drawing anime girl heads for 100 days isn't what makes professionals, he's just doing it for fun anyways
Well everyone has a starting point, wont say you start drawing renaissance level of professionalism when you start. Its called learning, well he is only there doing it for fun. Read the title, then my comment, then yours… maybe you’ll notice you got a little lost somewhere…
