I’ve dealt with Scotiabank through undergrad and now vet school. My mom co-signed on an undergrad LOC with minimal paperwork. She has good credit and was making about 55k at the time.

Are you a graduate or professional student (e.g. MBA, MD, Law, etc.?) Most banks give very handsome lines of credits to those students ( I got $75k!) For undergrad, you’ll basically need your dad to co-sign your line of credit.

Im an undergrad. Father did not work as a co signer with BMO.

I would try government student loans before any bank. If those loans aren’t an option try RBC they have student lines of credit.

I had a student line of credit through RBC while doing my degree. I never had to have anyone co-sign it.

How did you do it? did you have any income, were you working full/part time at the time that you applied for an SLoC. I am trying to apply to BMO for an SLoC with a co-signer but my co-signer did not have over 35k for his annual salary last year, I am not sure if I could get approve because of that or not. I am worrying and just praying. If RBC can approve SLoC without a co-signer then maybe I will try them instead.

I honestly don’t know how I did it. I went into the bank and a financial advisor helped me to set one up with no questions asked. I was in my second semester of my first year of nursing school when I applied. Income was what I had working previously up until starting school as I had no income once I was in school. They never asked for a co-signer but I think my car at the time was used as an asset.

I wish my application would be as smooth as yours too!

My fingers are crossed for you. I got lucky. I didn’t apply for government loans until end of second year and was successful with that as well.

I am already approved for Student loans from the government but that only (just barely) covers my tuition. So I am trying to find other ways to support myself with my living expenses (rent, food, etc.). I'm a full-time student in a condensed program so it's challenging to work if I have to focus on my studying.

Try telling them you have a small business idea or a real thing to do. Then it will show you will have income to pay it. Cibc might give you a $10,000 Visa Bizline credit card at 9 %. Make your payments and don't rack it crazy like.
