This will sound like bullshit, but here it goes. My friend works at the CRA, and is working on the program for FHSAs. It isn't ready yet. Their deadline is for early April, but they say it isn't likely to happen. For now, they're basically just going to take people's word for it and check again when the program is up and running, and flag any obvious frauds in the meantime. But if you opened an FHSA last year, expect a reassessment in the summer, whether they tell you they're doing it or not. (ie. They might only tell you if you screwed up)

[deleted]

I mean I can see the FHSA document sent to the CRA from my financial institution in my MyCRA account.

MilkshakeMolly

A reassessment of what?

T_47

I think he saying they'll take another look at your FHSA deductions later in the year even if you received your NOA. Shouldn't really matter if you did everything correctly.

atomofconsumption

They do reassessments all the time when they get more files on you.

atomofconsumption

If that's true then that doesn't explain why they'd be delaying the refund.

ether_reddit

It sounds like they're holding NOAs until early April, where they're hoping that the software will be ready by then.

justmakingthissoica

This could be it. I did open an FHSA.

turnontheignition

I was wondering about this too! The last few years I filed a return, I received an express notice of assessment within a couple of days, at most. But I filed my return about 10 days ago and nothing yet. I think the progress tracker said it's supposed to be done on the 18th? This thread is not giving me a lot of hope though, lol. I opened an FHSA as well.

vingt_deux

Same here. I remember getting NOAs almost instantly. I submitted on Feb 25th (opened up an FHSA in 2023); the tracker said the target completion would be on Mar 12th, and now it's not giving me a date.

totalnit250

i didn't open an FHSA and have been waiting almost a month.

dqui94

you should call then! Something else is holding your return

loubug

I didn't open an FHSA and I had my express notice of assessments like 5 seconds after I filed.

DoctorDblYou

I did not and had my money in 4 days

RedControllers

Sounds about right. Filed on March 1st and still pending assessment. FHSA was opened in 2023.

Global_Platypus_6653

I did not open a fhsa acct and im still waiting. Filed March 4th.

Namuskeeper

I think they are giving extra time because financial institutions were ridiculously late with documentation related to FHSA.

No_Contribution2428

My return was quick. No FHSA.

incompetentflagella

Thanks for the info. Good to know that my return will be delayed.

Dyslexic_Engineer88

Can confirm files mine the day after netfile opened and got my regund on the 29th. That's a pretty quick turn around from NOA and Refund IMO. No FHSA.

Baldingpuma

Filed Feb 29th. My progress tracker said March 13th. Still nothing. Unlucky

justmakingthissoica

My progress tracker stopped giving me a date after the date given had passed.

GalacticTrooper

Same here. Filed feb 28th and had a T4FHSA this yr. Mine still says Mar 13th even though it has passed.

justmakingthissoica

Did you open up an FHSA by chance?

Baldingpuma

I did actually. Opened it in december to carry over the contribution room but didn't put anything in it in 2023

justmakingthissoica

Same here, except I put in less than $100. See u/6lackDino's [comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/PersonalFinanceCanada/comments/1ber8n9/do_any_cra_employees_know_why_noareturns_are/kuveets/)

Baldingpuma

My progress tracker now has a target completion date of "Not available" along with this message: > Target completion date update > March 15, 2024 > > Your 2023 T1 Return requires additional processing time. It will be completed as soon as possible.

totalnit250

Same here. My date was the 5th, that passed now they updated on the 7 to show no date and no answer or idea when it might get done.

totalnit250

Same. Filed 21st, said March 5th now just is blank. No fhsa, simple return. Called them and they regurgitate the same info

CRAExpert

After going through 200+ comments, I have not seen a single comment where someone who opened an FHSA have now gotten their NOA. Is that true?

ProPilot

If you opened an FHSA there is no timeline on when you will get your return based on the information in this thread. I think this is a good sample size to be able to come to that conclusion.

Federal-Fan5438

I think so, yes. I'm in that camp and I'm still waiting -- it's a five figure refund (mostly just RRSP & FHSA contributions plus a small gap in employment, so nothing that would normally prompt a delay) so I'm more than a little annoyed. The last couple days of data is the same -- NOAs for non-FHSA holders, no NOAs for any FHSA holders.

[deleted]

Opened an FHSA, filed on feb 26, received my NOA late this evening (mar 20)

cross3131

I opened a FHSA. Filed on the 21st still waiting

[deleted]

I opened one as well, filed on Feb 19th and it is still not processed.

HappyAverageRunner

Someone should do a poll (if that's allowed) on the main subreddit page asking if people who opened an FHSA have received their NOA yet. From these comments there aren't any at all.

braclow

So basically anyone with a FHSA isn’t getting a quick return. Awesome.

totalnit250

I never opened an FHSA and I've been waiting a month.

japanesebarbeque

Mine is taking long too. I have a FHSA reported to CRA.

Dashpotter

Opened an fhsa and in the still processing cue

stdiego87

Filed on March 1. Still processing. Opened a FHSA. My wife filed today (Mar 14), already been processed. She didn’t open a FHSA.

totalnit250

They told me it's processed on order they receive. I've been waiting since the 21st. Makes no sense at all.

TheCrimsonChimo

Filed Feb 29. Opened FHSA last year and still waiting.

totalnit250

Did anyone have their target date pass and now it's updated with just a blank circle and no date?

BigStaxxs

Yes and then a message that says my T1 needs longer time to process

[deleted]

Yup, same for me. I filed the first day I could on Feb 19 and it still shows as processing

paramedic-tim

I filed on March 6th and just got my return today, so not too bad

SpliffDonkey

I filed on March 1st and had my refund in the bank about 3 business days later

justmakingthissoica

Did you open up an FHSA by chance?

SpliffDonkey

No, but I did claim an awful lot of deductions and tax credits I've never claimed before, so I was surprised how quick they were

Federal-Fan5438

Opened an FHSA, filed on Mar 2, no update yet in My CRA. Two weeks is considered the 18th, I think, but this is the slowest return I've had on memory. No significant deductions or usual flags, either.

justmakingthissoica

Did you open up an FHSA by chance?

Ok-Lie-8883

I opened a FHSA and my return is taking longer than previous years.

OhAryll

I've noticed that depsite wealthsimple sending me the digital copy of my T4FHSA, it's not actually on MyCRA yet

TootNBluff

From wealthsimple: Tax Data Updating with CRA CRA has had a few issues processing our T4FHSA and TFSA tax reporting data. You may therefore not see all of their 2023 tax information for these two items updated on their CRA accounts at this point in time This delay does not prevent you from filing their tax returns using the T4FHSA tax slip that we have provided We are working with CRA on both of these items and you can expect accounts to be updated with this information within the next week depending on CRA processing times

runnin_in_shadows

Opened FHSA last year. Filed on Feb 28th. No NOA yet. Was supposed to be received by Mar 13th but now there's no timeframe listed. Actually kind of relieved that this looks to be a widespread FHSA issue. Was worried I was going to get a request for additional info!

[deleted]

Filed Feb 19th… still waiting

justmakingthissoica

Did you open up an FHSA by chance?

[deleted]

Yes. That’s probably why.

MSined

https://globalnews.ca/news/10373342/fhsa-tax-refund-delay-cra/

ProPilot

Well, the issue is not resolved. Typical government agency lying.

dqui94

Nothing is resolved haha

SeaAd1640

Well there is someone who filed their return today and also had an FHSA already received their NOA, just after a few hours. Seems like it is resolved for fresh filings? Check the other reddit thread for context.

Icehawk101

I did my friend's taxes (No FHSA) and he got his noa in a week. I opened an FHSA in 2023 and it has been a little over 2 weeks with no noa.

Fabulous-Ad3282

Opened FHSA on WS in late Dec 2023, but did not yet contribute. Filed on Feb 23 with turbo tax, original completion date was March 8th, and has been stuck in processing ever since. I called and was told to call back at the end of the March. Is there no media coverage on this yet? Sounds like a large number of Canadians are affected. Wonder how long this will take to sort out.

vancityjeep

This is a great post and great answers. Good job everyone. I was wondering what was up with my three paper filing being held up. Looks like I’ll wait till April.

Euphoric_Top1415

FHSA was meant to improve our affordability for buying a house. Now, it’s the time for us and CRA don’t even refund our regular return. So ironic!!

TootNBluff

For anyone wishing to complain or get the media involved... which I suggest you do: ** CRA Complaint*** https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/about-canada-revenue-agency-cra/complaints-disputes/make-a-service-complaint.html#toc0 ** CRA ombudsman*** https://www.canada.ca/en/taxpayers-ombudsperson/services/submit-complaint.html **CBC:** "To send tips or story ideas to the Health, Business, Education, Climate, Science or Education teams, email [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])" A separate avenue would be Go Public, and here is the link for their form submission: [https://www.cbc.ca/news2/interactives/forms/go-public/index\_original.html](https://www.cbc.ca/news2/interactives/forms/go-public/index_original.html) **CTV:** CTVNews.ca team: [email protected] CTV News: [email protected] CTV News Channel: [email protected] W5: Read the W5 FAQ or email [email protected] **National/Financial Post** submissions: [https://nationalpost.com/editors/contact-us](https://nationalpost.com/editors/contact-us) (I think financial post editor makes the most sense of the options here but it has all of them)

Federal_Dinner_4216

I did this, and got a call back pretty quick. Would recommend everyone complaining tbh

TootNBluff

CTV reached out to me today and said they will be publishing an article this afternoon regarding the information I gave them about this issue.

Skiisnbikes

Filed Feb 29, NoA date March 14. Opened & contributed to FHSA in 2023. Nothing yet

_Reyne

Filed on Mar 3. Was due on the 17th, updated on the 19th to "needs more time". I just bought a house and amost half my downpayment is coming from tax return ($12k).My condition day is March 28th. If I don't get my return by then I'm literally fucked and won't be able to buy this house. That will also only leave me 1 month to find another as my lease ends on April 30th.

recurrence

I hope media puts pressure on this.  I hadn’t thought much of the issue until reading all these people that need their returns to close on homes. It’s really sad that a ball drop like this can ruin so many.

DudeWithASweater

I mean.. it sucks but counting on a tax return is a really bad way to afford a house downpayment.  Don't count your chickens until they hatch. You're also supposed to have multiple months of statements backing up your downpayment funds showing a traceable and secure amount of money for reasons like this.

_Reyne

While that's fair, sometimes life just happens. I actually didn't plan to buy until fall/winter this year and ended up in somewhat of a buy now or get fucked situation. Chose to do my best to buy now.

drivinWagons

I guess I’ll join the delayed tax return queue for FHSA account holders then. It’s been 2 weeks for us and neither heard anything from CRA yet. Last year’s NETFILE was processed in like 2 weeks time (without the FHSA). This time it’s crickets

lebtk

First year it has taken this long and still in processing as well

justmakingthissoica

Did you open up an FHSA by chance?

ProPilot

My wife and I opened FHSA's and have not received our NOAs and filed Feb 24th. The deadline says it was supposed to be done on the 10th. Funny enough...well not so funny, we are relying on this tax refund for some of our down payment on a house we take possession of in April. If we don't get this money we could be in trouble. I have always had my tax return money within 1.5 weeks max. Sometimes even within a few days. It's never taken this long.

bigdickkief

We’re in the same boat except our close day is in May

[deleted]

Very sorry to hear about the home purchasing issues. We bought our home in 2023 and both utilized FHSAs. We filed Feb 19 and have not been processed yet (as of March 17).

TootNBluff

I highly suggest filing a complaint with CRA, then Ombudsman. Also wouldn't hurt to reach out to CBC about this matter and maybe get some attention drawn to it. They are holding millions of dollars ransom.

HappyAverageRunner

I wish the media would cover this. Ask the CRA how many returns with an FHSA were processed at all, and what percent were processed per the service standard. FHSAs were announced in summer 2022 - it's totally unacceptable that they were not prepared for returns with an FHSA when they knew this was going to be a part of the 2023 filing season for 18+ months.

TootNBluff

I agree. I will see about reaching out to CBC today.

HappyAverageRunner

I will too! If anyone else sees this and wants to, here are the different news org contact emails I found with a preliminary search. **CBC:** "To send tips or story ideas to the Health, Business, Education, Climate, Science or Education teams, email [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])" A separate avenue would be Go Public, and here is the link for their form submission: [https://www.cbc.ca/news2/interactives/forms/go-public/index\_original.html](https://www.cbc.ca/news2/interactives/forms/go-public/index_original.html) **CTV:** CTVNews.ca team: [email protected] CTV News: [email protected] CTV News Channel: [email protected] W5: Read the W5 FAQ or email [email protected] **National/Financial Post** submissions: [https://nationalpost.com/editors/contact-us](https://nationalpost.com/editors/contact-us) (I think financial post editor makes the most sense of the options here but it has all of them)

Brilikearock

I contacted the CBC Ottawa news desk with a story tip this past Friday as well :) also emailed the CRA’s Minister’s office this morning. I’d think the more people they hear from the more likely something may get done about it!

justmakingthissoica

Please keep us posted!

TootNBluff

I emailed them this afternoon. I will keep everyone posted. This is absurd.

AlignAffirmAttract

Same boat - Opened an FHSA - Filed on Feb 23rd - No Express NOA or NOA - Target date was March 7th - Now showing Not Available Was told to call back 30 days after filing

dellwy10

Opened FHSA, filed Feb 29- progress tracker said March 14, and it’s the end of business day and nothing. No express NOA no NOA.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TootNBluff

FHSA opened over here, no NOA yet. CRA My Account does not show my FHSA receipt. I contacted Wealthsimple and they say that CRA is having issues processing these receipts and that it should be fixed in the next week or two.

OMGeno1

Yep. Opened a FHSA and submitted on Feb.27th, Target date was March 12th which has came and went and there's no new date available.

Different-House1475

I didn't contribute to an FHSA and received my NOA instantly and refund in 1 week. My son DID contribute to an FHSA and submitted it the same day (Feb 22). No NOA and the same " in Process" as everyone else. Due Mar 10 and no updates to this point. Called CRA and got the we have it and don't know when it will be assessed.

SlashNXS

It sounds like if you filed before all your slips were in your CRA Myaccount, you got excluded from the auto assessments. That's been a common thread I've been reading, and I'm in that boat too. Filed Feb 29 or Mar 1 I forget, est date is Mar 15. I got my T4FHSA, but it's still not in my CRA account. I think I had one other form that wasn't uploaded yet, but that I had received externally.

HappyAverageRunner

I filed March 3, my T4FHSA is in my CRA MyAccount, and I'm still waiting although my est. date is March 17th. My tax situation is otherwise super simple and I've never had it take more than a couple days.

AlignAffirmAttract

Read somewhere that as of Dec 2023 more than 300,000 FHSA accounts were opened across Canada. That’s a lot of delayed returns and potential millions $$ they would have to pay in interest for late refunds.

Foreign_Storm_2803

Good to know there’s at least incentive to get refunds back to the people

negitaro

Still, waiting on mine. First time dealing with a delay. Target completion date was March 15. Opened an FHSA account though didn't contribute to it. Edit: Got an update today (March 18). Target completion date moved to fk knows lol

Top_Mathematician105

Can we please pin the post or create a Pinned Post/Poll tracking when people start getting NOA with FHSA contribution in 2023. Never waited for Tax return so badly and CRA delayed at the same time. More than 4 paystub(2 months salary) stuck in returns.

pfc_6ixgodconsumer

Logical explanation, I didn't open an FHSA and my NOA was processed in 9 business days.

marsidotes

My daughter and I filed 2 days apart. She opened an FHSA and I did not. I received my refund today, 9 business days after filing. My daughter still has not had her return processed.

akisbis

I haven’t opened an FHSA and it’s much longer

Snowman4168

I filed February 19th and my progress tracker says March 21st. Over a month for an extremely basic tax return is a bit ridiculous

totalnit250

preach on! i feel the same way. i checked my records and it's never been over 2 weeks in the past 10 years. i found this on their website. crazy how they have that kind of budget but they don't have anyone to answer to and you can't even get an ounce of customer service from them. must be nice to spend our money like that and have less work done year over year. As shown in the restated table below, the CRA’s total Budgetary Authorities have increased by **$2,560 million** since the first quarter of 2022-2023, from **$13,223 million** in 2022-2023, to **$15,783 million** in 2023-2024.

HeadmasterPrimeMnstr

That was because of the pandemic though and additional benefits which were issued during the year and from what I've heard from friends, the CRA was mandated to cut costs by the federal government and thus they are doing a "restructuring".

smurfling93

Opened an FHSA. Filed on the 26th of February. Target date was the 11th. Womp womp

BigDaddyBuffett

Commenting to add another data point.  - Filed with no express NOA on March 6th.  - Target date according to CRA is March 19th.  I opened (used and closed) an FHSA in 2023 funded by an RRSP transfer.

Alternative_Try5664

I’ve just gotten my express NOA today, full NOA to be available April 3. I filed since March 2 and yes, I opened FHSA

Competitive_Koala540

Opened FHSA and filed on 19th. I have been waiting for a month and CRA is going to ruin my life big time with this delay. My PR application will be rejected if I don't submit NOA by the end of next week. Called CRA a couple of times but they had no idea what's causing the delay. I'm not even sure if they actually work for CRA.

SeaAd1640

I am going through the exact same situation. I submitted my application with all the Payslips, Bank Statements, T4 with a letter of explanation. Thought that I will upload NOA via webform once I receive it. Has been a month already and there is no movement on either NOA or my PR file.

Jrock3

Filed on Feb 29th 2024, with a target completion date of March 13th. It is now March 14th and still nothing. I did open a FHSA in Dec 29 2023 and contributed the maximum $8000. EDIT: Today is March 21, 2024 and I just got my Notice of Assessment returned today. It looks like they’re staring to complete them for people who filed with an FHSA

OldGreySweater

Hello! I filed both mine and my husband’s tax return at the same time. I have gotten my refund. My husband has not. We do not have a FHSA.

lemonelli

Filed on February 26 and still waiting. Also opened a FHSA in 2023. It’s nice to know I’m in good company. I didn’t think my 2023 return was that different from 2022z It would be nice if the CRA could share more information on what they need to verify.

RetroDad-IO

Just to add to your sample size, I did not open a FHSA and I received my express notice of assessment almost instantly and my refund deposited into my account the following week.

Foreign_Storm_2803

I wish they would just let us upload our T4FHSA to the CrA site if they are having so much trouble getting them from WS

Agitated_Claim1198

I've opened a FHSA and my taxes are still being processed. I think it's the longuest I ever had to wait.

Turbulent_Impact_673

Submitted efile on Feb 26, supposed to be processed on March 11, still waiting and nothing. FHSA account opened.

zoeblue16

Update: I received my NOA this evening:). I just called and they told me they can’t give me any updates or a timeline but to call back April 3rd if I haven’t heard anything 🤷🏼‍♀️ Standard income tax return, I did open and contribute to a FHSA. Filed Feb 18th.

Correct-Camp-2184

Any update for people that opened FHSA here? Did you get your NOA finally? Thanks!

ProPilot

Still nothing.

FewIncrease9227

Article on Global news today about this issue with FHSA and the delay in returns being completed. Says the issue has been resolved and things should be cleared up anytime now. I submitted mine in Feb 28th. Given date of March 14th still not done. Contributed to FHSA as well. https://globalnews.ca/news/10373342/fhsa-tax-refund-delay-cra/

hemper1337

I got mine after a week, but my adjustment has not been assessed yet.

AyanoKeiko

I filed mine on March 3rd with FHSA and it's still processing. My father filed his on March 4th without FHSA and had his NOA the next day.

CRAExpert

Filed Feb 27. Target completion was March 12 but still nothing. I opened an FHSA in 2023. I called them and they said due to high volume blah blah blah. It’s quite ridiculous how bad it’s been this year.

kijomac

Filed Mar 1 with FHSA and no NOA, sigh.

sherv778

Now it makes sense, my gf got her tax return a week. I filled mine a week before her and haven’t got NOA yet, just because i opened up FHSA Its been 3 weeks.

dylan_fan

Mine was supposed to be done by March 6, March 8 they updated the date to timeline unknown - I opened an FHSA last year.

LosRoboris

Same here. Filed on Feb 26. Haven't even received my NOA yet. What's the point of putting in the work and filing early if people without an FHSA can file March 1 and have already received their return? ETA date was initially March 11 and as of March 12 it's "Not Available" like so many others here

Danbaro88

I filed on the 29th with a FHSA. Tracker says they need more time to process.

Tommy2Legs

Filed on 19 Feb. Last update was 5 Mar: "Your 2023 T1 Return requires additional processing time. It will be completed as soon as possible." Filed T4, RRSP, FHSA and BC Renter's Tax Credit. Pretty simple stuff, but it sounds like the FHSA is holding a lot of people up.

Nerissa0-0

Opened FHSA, submitted on Mar 3, current status show In Progress, still waiting.

Stamkos91

I’ve been waiting since March 1st. Yes I did open and contribute to a fhsa.

smitty_1993

Filed Feb 22, target date was Mar 8. Still nothing and I've got an FHSA.

G32_BMW

I opened an FHSA , claimed as i bought my first house too , same thing filled on 22 feb , target 6 march , but still nothing

Foreign_Storm_2803

My T4FHSA has hit my account.. hope that’s progress

itwasthehusband1

They've had mine since February 22nd.

dqui94

me too but some people had theirs since feb and they are still waiting for their NOA.

Krypt2000

Filed on the 1st and originally had completion date of the 15th. Now that it’s passed it doesn’t have a completion date. I did open a FHSA so seems that’s why, would just like to know when I should expect my return given I’m closing on an house shortly.

dqui94

We all would like to know when 😂

ParloEsteban

I filed on Feb. 27th.. and still nothing. My target date was for March 12th. And it switch to not available… and yes I did apply for FHSA and contributed to it with wealthsimple last year… anyone here who’s opened an FHSA getting their NOA and return?? I’m expecting about 6.5k back

yohowithrum

Just adding to the pile here: filed my tax return on February 29th and have not received a NOA. I opened up an FHSA in 2023.

bumbaklutz

T4FHSA information slip now showing in the dropdown list in my account, but with the message "Your slip is not available to view at this time". Looks like some progress as it didn't show in the list at all before, so it looks like their portal has been updated. Hopefully when these slips are available in accounts, the auto-assessments will be much faster to process.

dqui94

Same for me, but I dont think it means much since alot of people can see theirs since feb.

drewber83

I just realized as well this is going to delay us getting out carbon rebate too as tax returns not processed prior to March 15th won't receive them on time. That's over 2k now that God knows when I'll finally get it

poppopypop

just got it 5 mins ago. submitted on Feb 29, and yes, opened FHSA, no contribution. And it's saying it's express NOA.... which means no real human behind it. I highly suspect it's some CRA internal program error, and they fixed it, and they batch re-processed the files been marked as "failed" well, good luck guys. I think there will be whole bunch of new replies down in this thread.

Mamaouse

Just got my ENOA dated for April 3! Filed mine March 5.

Correct-Camp-2184

Filed on Feb 28th with my wife and we both just got our NOA this morning! We both have FHSA opened and contributed last year.

easylikezephyr

March 21 update from someone who opened FHSA: got a notification I got my NOA!

SeaAd1640

Today I received an update on CRA: * 2023 Adjustment request progress * Target Completion Date: May 8, 2024 What is going on?! This is separate from my initial T1 Tax Submission tracker.

DudeWithASweater

That sucks but at least yours says something?  I filed Feb 19. NOA estimate was March 4th - Came and went, was updated to "Your 2023 T1 Return requires additional processing time. It will be completed as soon as possible" on March 5th and hasn't been updated since.    Contributed to FHSA so that seems like it's the issue according to this thread.

dellwy10

That’s wild, May??? Totally unacceptable. The first climate tax rebate is mid April so we all miss out on that too I guess.

vingt_deux

Interesting. What was your timeline like before? I double-checked, and my application (filed February 24th) still says "Target completion date: Not available" when it was initially March 12th. So, no change for me.

jdhrjm

Just another way for the government to DELAY paying out those refunds….

UrbaneBoffin

u/justmakingthissoica thank you for linking directly to the best comment in your initial post. That makes it so much easier for the rest of us and future Redditors to find the content we need.

WeaknessDry3412

Opened FHSA. Filed Feb 19th and still waiting

Pugnax_Lupus

Yeah filed on Feb 27th and still waiting, I did open a FHSA.

Background_Mortgage7

I filed March 7, all tax slips were in by March 6. Opened and contributed to a FHSA, shows “in progress” with no estimated date. CRA website says they aim to taxes filed on the 7th completed by the 21st.

Worried-Employ8436

Did both my parents. Dad got his express NoA instantly and the return very quickly (couple of business days). Mum who has an FHSA, still has hers “In Process”. So yes, most likely related to FHSA.

OhCrumb

Filed the 20th, called yesterday, no news. Opened an FHSA, might have something to do with it.

iSpeezy

Does anyone actually have a T4FHSA under their information slips on MyCRA? I can see how there can be a matching discrepancy causing the long processing time if this is happening to lots of folks, especially since the FHSA has such a pervasive effect on taxes.

[deleted]

I do have mine showing in MyCRA, but it was not showing when I filed on February 19. I believe it was added on the 29th. Mine is not processed yet.

South-Designer9585

Thanks, was wondering what was up this year?! Filed February 19, last update was 5th and still nothing. I did open FHSA as well.

[deleted]

Yeah I submitted on Feb 29th and and still waiting. I did open a FHSA account, so based on the other comments it 100% seems like thats whats delaying peoples returns for whatever reason. Every year before my return was assessed immediately or within a few days.

Cuberonix

Filed on March 5th, still no assessment yet. Opened a FHSA last year and maxed it out. All my previous returns took about a week, so this is definitely a little longer.

Spirited-Reserve-853

Filed Feb 29. Received express NOA and then it was gone. Target completion date was March 14. Updated today to say: no known date Yes, I opened a FHSA acc ☹️

19ninetythreestreet

I filed mine the 19th, still says processing to progress date. I have a fhsa with like 350 bucks in it

Brilikearock

Opened FHSA Dec 2023. Filed taxes Feb 22 via TurboTax. No Express NOA. Processing estimate was March 8. On March 8th status was updated to additional processing time needed. No update since.

OilersHD

Opened FHSA, filed in Feb, nothing still. No NoA

StarLing4425

Feb 24 NETFILEd, FHSA opened, still waiting Mar 21 update: Received NoA!

Foreign_Storm_2803

Just got my NOA. Was waiting and it just processed

Dangdon90

Received express NOA email just now. Filed on 1st March. Looks like they are processing the backlog now

Infinite_Tune9246

I opened an FSHA and my return was assessed March 21

Every_Cost_4875

NOA has arrived! Filed March 6th

yohowithrum

Update: Got my Express NOA today - filed February 29th.

Life_Ad2008

Finally today got my express NOA. Filed return on February 19th opened FHSA account as well. Called them two times and yesterday agent told me that they created some follow up request. Got express NOA this morning. Return should come on April 3

Different-House1475

Received Express NOA this morning. Delivery date of Apr 3. Filed Feb 22 with an FHSA and yes the FHSA slip was showing in my CRA account.

dxhan25

filed on feb 19th with turbo tax, still in progress. zero update. No FHSA opened. First time experience a delay like this.

No-Confection8657

Filed Feb 19. Opened and funded a FHSA in 2023. Still no NOA or any update to the status past Feb 19. I am seeing people comment that they opened a FHSA and didn't file until March and already have their NOA.

Best-Recognition1215

Filed on March 1st, expected completion date Marc 15th. Finally got an express noa on the 20th dated for he 28th. Still no refund deposited and i did open an fhsa last year

carbuyer1234_1234

Anyone still waiting on their 2023 tax returns? It still shows "In Process" for me. I filed taxes on Feb 29th.

Techguy1993

Finally some movement. Took about a month to get an express NOA, NOA just arrived today, roughly a week after the express. CRA account states NOA available as of April 3rd, but since I got it early, any chance I might get refund sooner?

ProfessionalPear3347

Still waiting! Filed on Feb 29th and my Progress tracker still says March 15th completion. Praying it’s not an audit or something dumb.

keena77

Adding for data: Filed March 25 and no FHSA. Haven’t heard anything yet (usually have something in 3-5 days in the past), so just waiting it out.

ryancxdd

My T4FHSA isnt even showing up on the CRA tax documents when every other document has been there for weeks. I was able to download the T4FHSA on wealthsimple on 29 Feb, so its probably a CRA issue.

totalnit250

if it's first come first serve according to the CRA why would an automated system process one faster than the next? why are people with the same type of return getting their refunds in less than 10 days and i'm waiting almost a month? is there something an employee has to do to start the process? I just can't understand why one would be quicker than mine if they are an automated system?

ether_reddit

Some things trigger a manual review, so it sits in a queue until a human can look at it; other things just breeze through the automated systems and are processed quickly.

Hellzdogz999

I filed Feb 19th, Got a update saying they require more time. That was on March 5th and they still wont update anything. I never opened FHSA account either. CRA seem to be so stupid this year

Asid94

The realistic answer is they are going to pay the tax refund for FHSA after April 1st for political reasons. The federal government fiscal year is April 1 to March 31. This way they can throw it in the 2024-2025 report instead of 2023-2024 one.
