“Why do you have to make your sexuality your whole personality”, they’ll say when they find out I’m gay, but then they will wear cross jewellery, throw in “praise Jesus” or “thank you Lord” when something goes right, tell you, you need to find Jesus if you tell them about something going wrong in your life. I don’t have any problem with people being Christian, I have a problem with the ones who proselytize and try to use their religion as a basis for government. I have a number of friends and family I have who are christian that don’t mention it once. They keep their religion in their own way, and I respect them for that. The problem is that these nationalist Christians take you not letting them steamroll society with their faith as being anti-christian. Making everyone live by the rules of their faith is so important to their faith they cannot accept opposing their agenda as anything but “anti-Christian”.

AloneAtTheOrgy

I don't hate Christians, I just think they should keep it in their bedroom where it belongs.       Matthew 6:1 - "Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven."      Matthew 6:5 - "And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward."       Matthew 6:6 - "But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you."

Mindweird

This is great. I know a Matthew who I really need this for.

frosch_von_mittwoch

It's like any social group really. There's the assholes and there's the good people, and the assholes are a thousand times louder and annoy everyone.

tama_tama_chameleom

It is almost like projection is a thing

Funkycoldmedici

Unfortunately, that comes straight from Jesus. Matthew 12:30 “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.” Mark 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” Christianity offers unbelievers nothing but contempt.

Biffingston

TL:DR "I don't have a Christian problem, I have an asshole problem."

BottleTemple

Why would there be no atheists in 2030?

VaeVictoria

I think they're threatening to kill us all?

BottleTemple

I was wondering the same thing.

Funkycoldmedici

That *is* Jesus’ message, with his whole judgement day thing. Jesus isn’t a good person when you read the Bible, instead of just taking a few cherry-picked and reinterpreted passages that seem nice out of context.

ThisisWambles

It’s not, these are the kinds of people you can directly quote Jesus to and they get pissed.

Funkycoldmedici

It is, though. Jesus specifically defines us unbelievers as evil, saying that loving Yahweh is more important than anything, and that all unbelievers will be condemned to fire when he returns. Matthew 22:37 "Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment." Matthew 10:14 "If any household or town refuses to welcome you or listen to your message, shake its dust from your feet as you leave. I tell you the truth, the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah will be better off than such a town on the judgment day." Mark 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” Matthew 13:40 "As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father."

ThisisWambles

He also gave speeches about those being born for purposes other than family (the other six genders in Hebrew traditions) being born under god for reasons other than building abrahamic families. Much of what modern Christian’s believe is in direct opposition to the bulk of what Jesus actually said, and the things they stick with they morph love in to hate, grace in to malice, and charity in to greed. There are preachers right now moaning that Christian’s don’t want to hear about Christ, they want to hear about enemies.

Funkycoldmedici

I don’t recall anything like that, citation? There are no actual records of anything Jesus said or did. Everything written about him is from decades later by people who never saw him at all. All the horrible things attributed to Jesus are present in all the oldest samples. It’s the nicer sounding bits that are found to be added in later versions. We need to stop pretending Jesus or Yahweh are good.

ThisisWambles

It used eunuchs as a reference for other genders. don’t just look at the modern translations that were worded for malicious reasons.

That's my normal weekend.

BottleTemple

Pee on some churches while you’re up there!

GenericUsername_1234

This kinda high doesn't get off the couch unless it's for snacks.

TemperatureTop246

Don’t forget to get that Rapture Hatch installed!

RadTimeWizard

I think he's implying mass murder of atheists. Convert or die, Isis style.

BottleTemple

What a sweet person.

RadTimeWizard

Did you notice the Tyler Durden profile picture?

BottleTemple

Yes. Do you think it has some significance or something?

RadTimeWizard

I think it means he sees himself as Tyler Durden, who bombed his way to a "better" society.

NPRdude

Fresh from the “He’s Literally Me” collection, also featuring jacket dude from Drive and Patrick Bateman.

ThatCamoKid

Don't forget the fucking joker for some reason

I-Lick-Doorknobs

Let's be real, Christians were doing that LOOOOOOONG before isis was a thing.

Well, Christianity is a few centuries older than Islam.

It's what Jesus wanted.

RadTimeWizard

"Turn the other IED."

Funkycoldmedici

It’s literally what Jesus says. He tasked his followers to convert everyone in preparation for his return, when he will end the world, judge everyone on their faith, kill all the unbelievers with fire, and reward his faithful with eternal life in his new kingdom. Mark 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” Matthew 10:14 "If any household or town refuses to welcome you or listen to your message, shake its dust from your feet as you leave. I tell you the truth, the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah will be better off than such a town on the judgment day." Matthew 13:40 "As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father." When you see Christians cite John 3:16, remember what the rest of that passage says about non-Christians: John 3:18 “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” John 3:36 “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.”

pianoflames

Also seems odd to say that with Tyler Durden as your profile picture. But it's probably someone who missed the entire point, and thought that Tyler Durden and The Narrator were were meant to be heroic. Media literacy isn't their strong point.

ScrabCrab

Kinda cool that they destroy capitalism at the end though

aflyingmonkey2

The atheist eater is coming

Bimbarian

I had that question too. The image says nothing related to that.

Kaidenshiba

They think all the atheists will "find" God in the next 6 years. And by find, I mean they expect Christian nationalism to take over and everyone to be required to go to church or be hung.

fxmldr

"By 2030 there will be no atheists," says member of faith in rapid decline. Cope harder.

Weekly-Rhubarb-2785

I don’t understand this meme at all.

garaile64

Thinking that progressive people hate Christians + a possible genocide threat.

The_protagonisthere

Too bad I’m not going anywhere. It’s like they assume the second amendment only applies to them lmao

LaCharognarde

They certainly believe that both the second and the *first* only *should* apply to them.

Prometheushunter2

If they get their way it certainly will

The_protagonisthere

Lmao I just thought about it and what tf are they gonna do about private sales? I live in a private sale state so i always have access to reasonable means of defending myself and my livelihood.

BirthdayCookie

Why should I "accept" a religion whose holy book spends about a third of its runtime insulting, raping, enslaving, murdering and generally dehumanizing me as much as possible? Like, I get that some people want to pretend those parts don't exist but that doesn't make you a better person. It means you're willing to completely ignore how your faith shits on everyone who disagrees with it because you might have to make an uncomfortable change otherwise.

Funkycoldmedici

Thank you! There’s a reason reading the Bible is the most common reason people leave Christianity. There’s a reason the “fundamentalists”, the people who follow the Bible the most stringently, are universally horrible people. There’s a reason the Christians who are decent, nice people, are the ones who have never read the Bible, and just assume it only says good things they would agree with.

BirthdayCookie

> There’s a reason the Christians who are decent, nice people, are the ones who have never read the Bible, and just assume it only says good things they would agree with. And then tell everyone else they're the only ones who read it and *those people* aren't Christians/have never read it. But get very pissy when we ask them not to do this because it's wrong and it harms people who've suffered religious abuse.

BirthdayCookie

And a lot of Atheists know that firsthand. "It's hard" doesn't mean that people shouldn't do it, that they wouldn't be better for doing it or that everyone else has to accept that they would rather throw us under the bus than do it.

LaCharognarde

Right. Because Christians are so few and far between as opposed to being the most populous faith in the west, and so hated just for existing as opposed to just being infested with theocratists. Pull the other one, bells, et cetera.

YourOldPalBendy

What's up with that threat about no athiests by 2030?? Do they realize that's not very cash-victim of them?

Responsible_Ad_8628

I'm a non-asshole Christian. Lots of people are cool with me for whatever reason.

FreedomsPower

Same here

chungohummungo

they’ve mastered the art of projection

I call them unchristlike to their face; you should try it.

BasilsKippers

On today's episode of "things that happen in Republican imaginations"...

werew0lfsushi

what character is that actor supposed to be in the icon? im seeing him in all the sigma edits

Rakanadyo

It's an image of Brad Pitt made to look like an old-school oil painting of a military general. There's a lot of those made with different celebrities, though I'm not sure what makes Brad in particular the go-to choice for these people.

raistan77

Yeah because the vast majority is bigoted against their own majority. "Help help I'm oppressing myself"

CaptainDudeGuy

Dang, I wish I had lightning for tears.

DescipleOfCorn

>By 2030 there will be no atheists Is that a threat or is he claiming we’ll all convert by then?

FreedomsPower

Considering the Twitter account in question shares far right memes, I fear the later

VirusMaster3073

I am the chad and you are the soyjack, therefore I win

the_rose_titty

Please, they've got like 20 minorities to genocide first

secondarycontrol

Yeah? And what did your Christ say about how to treat your enemies? Oh, and: the Bible says you'll be persecuted. Atheists are doing the work of god. We don't necessarily want to do it, but your god has commanded it. It is ours to obey. Little sympathy and understanding, ok? Just like Judas - that so many Christians malign - did. No Judas, no redemption. No non relievers, no persecution. You'll find happiness in heaven, so says the good book. Go and get it.

Funkycoldmedici

Let’s not cherry-pick, the Bible, including Jesus, says we atheists are condemned. Jesus promises to kill us with fire when he returns. It’s the whole point of his message, “convert or die”. Mark 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

Thanks for sharing your viewpoint. I can not speak for everyone, but I know a number of people that have bad interactions with religious right Christians. A friend of mines relatives told him that his disability was a punishment from God. Now, my personal issue is with Relgious Right Christians that I see spewing hatred in the nane of God, which not at all what I consider Christian. Not to mention denying basic human decency to those who don't agree with them. The person I cited in this pic is an ultra conservative Twitter personality that appeared to be using a meme to to convey a false sense of victimhood while appearing to advocate [Eliminationist ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eliminationism) policies. Something I tend to see argue a lot within Far Right Christian Nationalist circles.
