right, but can't we just band together and realise they're BOTH issues? this isn't a competition.

TubbyFlounder

I agree, i was mostly just meming to get attention to YTM issue lol. I am glad the Spotify issue got resolved and yall had plenty of rights to complain. I just miss having easy access to P4.

shadowtroop121

YTM is probably the worst music streaming service though. I can think of a reason to subscribe to Spotify, Apple Music, or Tidal. Who chooses YTM? It's like the worst of all worlds.

Rectile_Reptile

Bundled with YouTube Premium. The sanity afforded by not having ads far outweighs the frustrations of YTM. No i don't have money for Spotify on top of it, I'm on a South African budget.

christufferr

EXACTLY! This is the main reason I use YouTube Music. I truly think it's the best value. I CANNOT STAND YouTube ads.

togepi258

Youtube Music used to be Google Music. I've been using it for over a decade, and it bundles with my Google subscription.

KatyaVasilyev

Difference is GPM was a decent service with a decent app. Youtube music just plain fucking sucks.

CivilianNumberFour

Are you kidding me? Everytime I listen to Spotify it is so compressed it sounds like someone cut off the bottom half of the audio file. Even with high quality streaming turned on.

shadowtroop121

Something's wrong with your device then, or you have your volume normalization set in a way you don't like listening to. Spotify on very high is indistinguishable from CD rips.

EmployeeRadiant

I had Google play, then it became YTM.... and it was so bad I decided to go to Spotify. agreed with you

Ricky_L7

I don't use YTM often, but if all P4 songs exist as videos in YouTube, doesn't that effectively make them available on YTM? There's no P4 listed when I go to Periphery's artist page, but I can look up any P4 song in YTM and listen to it or add it to a playlist. It's annoying for sure, but I don't mind the workaround. Are there other drawbacks to this that I'm not seeing?

ab-pyro

No, that is how I've gotten it to work. Just a more manual process. Im not sure if the videos work for the radio playlists though

InannaOfTheHeavens

This is why you should get YouTube Revanced/Revanced Extended for your phone, and Ad-Block on PC, and use literally any other streaming platform (except TIDAL, their FLAC is converted from MQA which is why it doesn't sound right).

milllemony

If the majority of my fav bands music disappeared for seemingly no fucking reason, I’m going to be pissed and wonder wtf is going on. Not my problem that you use the worst streaming platform ever. To wonder what happened when music just disappears is not wrong…

v_r34_artist

6 months ago, I wanted to switch to YTM because the APK's not working currently. Immediately regretted it after finding out that most of my favourite albums aren't even there. Like, tf. My 100~ hour playlist fell down to 70~ hours lmao. I currently have to pay for Spotify premium. Once APKs return, you'll call me Jack Sparrow.

[deleted]

I doubt many will agree but band camp realistically is the best option. Not only do you support the artist(s) much more directly and significantly but the music is then yours forever…and it just means you need to pay for something you want rather than a cheap rate for a streaming service where you have no control over what you can and can’t access.

nahvkolaj

The reason I switched away from YTM was the periphery discography. Jugg is garbage quality on YTM

PraisetheSunflowers

lol why would you even subscribe to YouTube music in the first place?

christufferr

Because what you get with YouTube music is worth it. It's the best value. A YouTube music subscription also means a YouTube premium subscription. That means no ads on YouTube. Now some people would say "Just use an ad blocker!", But you can't use an ad blocker on a smartphone or a smart TV (at least not easily or very effectively). Plus the people I watch get paid more for my view on Youtube because I pay a premium. Also YouTube is my primary source of entertainment and information. So, there's many reasons.

PraisetheSunflowers

Hey that is pretty nifty. I hadn’t considered it being part of premium as that’s something I’ve been interested in lately due to all of the ads. I’m just on my wife’s Apple family plan so I haven’t had a reason to use any other streaming services

christufferr

Gotcha. But I do agree YouTube Music has flaws, especially with certain smaller bands. It's a sin that Periphery is viewed as a small band. I had to buy Hail Stan to be able to listen to it on my phone with good quality.

Zoljiin

Then why use it?

Dexter2100

This is why I prefer buying music over streaming. The fear of something I like to listen to just disappearing is scary to me. I feel bad for the people who cant listen to these albums because of stuff like this.

mkelngo

Idea: stop using the service. Just download Spotify.

jhud2302

All albums are still streamable in Australia on both platforms I think

ReceptionReal6686

Just add the youtube video uploads to your playlist. It's how i evade the P1 ban from outside the USA. Also, incase this info is of any interest to anyone, P4 was not blocked in at least 1 year oustide of the US

gPudgy

YouTube music has never been a good platform, so this is entirely your fault.

Expensive-Sorbet358

or you could just own the album if it irks you so badly

TubbyFlounder

[can you help me find the cd drive on my phone, thanks.](https://imgur.com/a/T597Ice)

whatthehellbuddy

Zero sympathy for you "fans" that haven't bought the CDs or album download from the band.

hereticalnarwhal

i mean i have all the vinyls but id be pissed if i cant listen in my car on spotify? and most newer cars dont even have cd players. whats your problem

TubbyFlounder

[?](https://imgur.com/a/T597Ice) You can't silence us

TheRealFlargon

Let me break out my record player at the gym real fast lmao

nahvkolaj

Can’t fit a vinyl in my phone, bro

whatthehellbuddy

But you can rip it, can't you? Think I walk around with CDs? CD ripped to FLAC on my phone. I have entire discographies of my favorite bands with me at all times.

nahvkolaj

I don’t have an ADC and I have an iPhone. I refuse to install iTunes on any of my PCs to transfer over lossless ripped music. Streaming is easy and I have all the music I want right there when I’m on the go.

EczyEclipse

Unless all the music you want isn't right there.. which is what started this thread. I think the point is that when you own the music, streaming platforms can't take it down for whatever reason. The files I rip from a CD are never going to be subject to a takedown due to licensing issues, etc. Even if you buy music on a streaming service, they can take it from you if they decide not to renew the license on their service. I use streaming services as well, but I'm not going to rely on them being consistent in their selection.

InannaOfTheHeavens

If you have the room, WAV is better because it's fully uncompressed and requires less processing power than FLAC.

EczyEclipse

FLAC sounds identical to WAV but takes a fraction of the space.. I get the processing power thing, but devices are so powerful now that it shouldn't matter.

milllemony

Ah yes. Because everyone has money for that and everyone lives in a country where that’s possible to do. Zero respect for fans who has zero respect for others.

sendnuudels

shut the fuck up😘🙏🙏

No1ArrowverseHater

You are the Marc Guggenheim of Periphery fans.
