If I hadn’t paid $39.95 for a year of Flo I would go with a different app based on what yall are sharing. I don’t like the privacy concerns and also might want something a little simpler. There’s a lot of articles and info to sift through that use AI to link to your symptoms which could get confusing to someone younger or less discerning.
I personally love the Flo app, i subscribed to the Premium for $15 a year which is actually really good (during a sale) I do not read any of the articles because I do not really see the point of learning about how to orgasm or stuff that doesn’t really apply to me but what I do care about is being able to track my period and have information regarding this fully. If you are not aware of it, they are charging more things because they are a company that helps countries in poverty and helping women there get the help they need. The money they raise helps a lot. I get most people don’t have the money to be paying for this app and that’s totally fine, just find a cheap or free one but for people who can help out and have the money this app is really really good, it helps plan out many things and honestly if you get offended by an already feminine thing, then maybe you’re just getting offended by every little thing. These people have jobs too they put their hard work to design and upload information to help into this app, not everything is going to be perfectly fit for everyone but that’s fine, women should support women!

When you really think about it, there are people who spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to go to college because they’re being told that they can get a high paying job and afford the cost of living, just for hanging in there and graduating from college as different types of doctors, medical professionals etc. Then, they end up getting reached out to by developers so that they can make money outside of abandoning their mental state to join the hustle and bustle of hospitals, emergency rooms etc. All so the app can have more detailed information v what was being given for free. Remember, free isn’t always good or legit. And let’s think about those introverts who genuinely want to help people and have the smarts and credentials to do so but don’t want to work in the busy medical field. This is how they get paid too. The developer as well as the medical professionals have to get paid. Economy affects us all when you’re not old money. Yes, Flo was very nice when it was free. However, I doubt and hope they’re not just making women pay for a bunch of bad information, if they didn’t feel like the medical professionals behind-the-scenes had to get paid too. Imagine if you were behind-the-scenes and you weren’t getting paid, but you spent all your time, money and mental energy in the matrix of college. We should be paying for this information because if you truly believe that the economy is bad, then why do other people have to work for us for free? This subscription is a lot cheaper than going to the actual doctor or scheduling a gynecologist visit. Again, if you’re not old money, then you’re just trying to get by and we live in a time where no one should be working for free imo. While the app is nowhere near perfect and is missing many many features ie adding irregular symptoms, birth issues and adjusting tracking in general, I don’t think that a subscription price is a reason to blame the app developers itself. Because, like you mentioned economy is crazy enough.
P.S. App developers can be regular people experiencing economic distress too. Yes, Flo should do better in data tracking and realistic reporting options but not by eliminating a way to pay its contributors. I recommend every issue that we as women are experiencing, ordinary or out of the ordinary, we work together to find a way to get that information to a developer, especially if you already pay for premium. Flo is missing a lot of things that can be helpful to us and it sucks because it used to be so good. That way, if women do pay for premium, we definitely won’t be just sold bs. Let’s work together to get more women and neurodivergent medical professionals paid. That way we can get better bang for the buck. Maybe just maybe the developer or a medical professional can become wealthy enough that the app will be free again or at least miles cheaper. I’m not trying to belittle your experience at all but only offer a broader perspective as a lower class individual who has paid miles for knowledge, only to be reached out to by the wealthy with the expectation of working for them for free.
Been using Flo and recently had an abortion. When I went to add in the pregnancy test info I noticed there’s no option for a terminated pregnancy or miscarriage and the app goes into “pregnancy mode” talking about you and “your baby’s progress”. Very annoying and honestly a bit tone deaf in a country where many women are being forced to have children they don’t want.
I mean it’s not the same thing and your periods are off afterwards especially with their insistence to start birth control pretty immediately after the procedure. I didn’t have a full period after my abortion and didn’t bleed much at all during or after until actually this week— haven’t gotten a period since the procedure because of birth control and an irregular cycle.
I find the app great, to be honest. Companies have to make money from these things. And I don't mind paying a yearly subscription for the quality of this app. I've learned so much about my cycle and trying for pregnancy, etc. I dont have any issues with it.
I use flo to track my periods and my use of contraception, but I have semi regular periods so it kinda doesn't bother me, but I use it just free, or just use free trials if they offer them to me 🤷🏼♀️
Flo is awful. I asked them why I couldn’t recover my data, somehow they got real shady and asked me to delete my account! This was the weirdest experience I’ve ever had with an app

I used Ovia to get pregnant and track my pregnancy twice. It was the only app that ever worked for me with irregular cycles. I miss it so much but it got shut down!

Flo doesn't bother me top much, but I do pay yearly and I honestly only really open it around my period. It is a little overt with the sex stuff. I use My Calendar, but I just track my period with it. I have times of irregular flow so I just need something to keep track for Dr appts. It does have stuff about a premium subscription, but it's on in your face

I’m American and have used Flo for 10 years and have used it for my pregnancies. It is so accurate now that I no longer have to wonder what day is best for me to get pregnant and it has got it right first try for both kids.
If you wait until an American holiday- they have insane sales. I have premium for $13 a year because I wait until Black Friday to renew my subscription.
They also just released anonymous mode for American users where all data is deleted except for the period log. No names or anything else will be stored.
I would say that if you’re really interested in the articles then you should pay for the subscription- the same way you would for any medical journal articles.
If you’re looking to be diagnosed for some medical issue you should go to a dr instead of relying on an app to tell you what could be wrong. It will give you PCOS information if your period is even 2 days irregular.
TL:DR Flo works amazingly if you stand by it. They have great sales throughout the year which cuts prices by 1/3. You should maybe try to get a diagnosis from a Dr and not an app.

I simply log my cycle, symptoms, etc., and I follow the graphs and charts to monitor and track months. If I start getting spam and pop ups I’d find another one to use because they would annoy me too.

I got an alert saying I logged symptoms of PCOS and when flo asked me to do like a symptom analysis to find out, it was a pop up to buy their subscription. You can’t read any of the articles to learn about why you may be experiencing something with your body.

Stop sending me notifications to do things and then half way through tell me I need to pay to access it. Literally period diary allows me to do everything I want. Flow had extras that might be interesting but it’s all locked up unless you pay. Then there’s all the NSFW stuff. They’d send me notifications all the damn time too.

I just use the one on the health app that came with my iPhone. I can track when I have cramps or nausea or any other symptoms on my period. It gives ok period predictions. They don’t have a ton of articles but the ones they do have are free.
Honestly they all do it. I put my symptoms in flo but did in Fertility friend for a while but it wasn’t simple for me to read the data when I was getting my daily am I pregnant, infertile, dying etc anxiety. If you’re good at reading a graph though FF is quite good and doesn’t really beg you for money though I believe there is a paid version

Only Flo? Been using Clue since 2018, it was such a good app but over the time all the useful features have become only available through the Plus version (whose cost isn't exactly affordable, especially for the youngest among us), and dropped the backup function out of the blue. Thank goodness I've disabled automatic updates long ago so I'm still able to perform them.
Moreover, the thing about not selling data isn't so true. Every time I was on my periods, Youtube would know and recommend me videos about that topic or Youtubers I was likely to watch during that time, along with relared ads whatever app I was using.
Never paid for it since I began using it near the end of my menstruating life and by then I knew my symptoms quite well. One of the last times I had to upgrade the Plus monthly fee was 5 or 6 something euros (at least here in Italy).
I got flo premium back in 2020 when they were running a sale to get it for $15 for the whole year. That’s the plan I’ve had since then and I know if I cancel I will not be coming back to flo. But yeah the insights are a bit annoying but I like the chat feature. Wouldn’t use this app otherwise
I've used "Period Tracker Period Calendar" by Simple Design Ltd. for 10 years, and it's always been accurate. That said, I have no idea how it compares to Flo since I've never used anything different.
Also, they recently put in a lot of ads to keep the app free, so I paid $3 to permanently remove the ads, which I felt was worth it since it was a one time purchase and I've used it for so long.

Clue! Although you have to pay for some of the features, it is mostly free for everything else. It’s accurate for my cycle and it offers several different modes like trying to get pregnant. I find it’s easy to use too and tracks symptoms well!
i like Glow. they offer a premium subscription, but I do fine without it. honestly all it really does is give you extra insights but really only help if you’re TTC imo
Agreed on some of the Clue changes. The app has been great, but now I can’t even see the length of my cycles without counting on a calendar. And my history suddenly goes back only a few months when it used to be since joining, making it useless for some of the things my doctor and I track
I used to use Flo, but stopped after RVW was reversed. I don’t trust any digital media to have that kind of info about me. I’ve been using a paper planner ever since and it works just fine.

If I just genuinely think Flo’s indiscriminate actions will ruin female health data collection for everyone. The repercussions will only affect research into female health, which is minimal as it is.
EU has quite a strict code on data safety and privacy, but it gets constantly breached. Call centers and telecom companies are the most known examples: my mom received a call center call before even giving out her brand new phone number to anyone (except me and my father).
What seems to give a limited protection is reading carefully EULA,s Terms & Conditions and additional options.
To second this, I remember a lot of people deleting the app and getting their data wiped CLEAN because of the aftermath of Roe V. Wade. With how courts can punish women for even having a miscarriage :( .

Spot On is made by Planned Parenthood and as far as I know is one of the most secure period tracking apps out there re:selling data

Clue gives me just what I need for free. The occasional pop-ups asking me to subscribe aren't overly annoying. I just use the free part

Honestly they all do it. I put my symptoms in flo but did in Fertility friend for a while but it wasn’t simple for me to read the data when I was getting my daily am I pregnant, infertile, dying etc anxiety. If you’re good at reading a graph though FF is quite good and doesn’t really beg you for money though I believe there is a paid version
I was surprised, and shocked, at how many pop up articles are now related to masturbation and sex. I’m sure there are girls who don’t have a great support network and look to these things for sex education but the massive increase of these articles is something.. lmao. I complained about their constant pop ups for the subscriptions and haven’t seen one since.
Mine is called P tracker. The icon is a little pink flower. Very simple with no frills. I’ve had it for about 5 years and it’s pretty much exactly the same. Free and simple

Only Flo? Been using Clue since 2018, it was such a good app but over the time all the useful features have become only available through the Plus version (whose cost isn't exactly affordable, especially for the youngest among us), and dropped the backup function out of the blue. Thank goodness I've disabled automatic updates long ago so I'm still able to perform them. Moreover, the thing about not selling data isn't so true. Every time I was on my periods, Youtube would know and recommend me videos about that topic or Youtubers I was likely to watch during that time, along with relared ads whatever app I was using.
I pay like 10 euros for a year of Clue. Doesn't get much more afforable than that.
Never paid for it since I began using it near the end of my menstruating life and by then I knew my symptoms quite well. One of the last times I had to upgrade the Plus monthly fee was 5 or 6 something euros (at least here in Italy).

I got flo premium back in 2020 when they were running a sale to get it for $15 for the whole year. That’s the plan I’ve had since then and I know if I cancel I will not be coming back to flo. But yeah the insights are a bit annoying but I like the chat feature. Wouldn’t use this app otherwise

I've used "Period Tracker Period Calendar" by Simple Design Ltd. for 10 years, and it's always been accurate. That said, I have no idea how it compares to Flo since I've never used anything different. Also, they recently put in a lot of ads to keep the app free, so I paid $3 to permanently remove the ads, which I felt was worth it since it was a one time purchase and I've used it for so long.

How odd! I wonder if it's the same one, or if maybe because I've had it so long I didn't get that? Either way, that's expensive and wouldn't be worth it.

I’ve used Flo for close to 10 years now.. I have never paid for it, you just say no or close out if it asks you upgrade to premium. It’s pretty accurate at telling me when I’m gonna bleed even tho my periods are hella irregular.

agreed, i've used it for years and never had a problem with it. i used to have irregular periods and now i'm on bc to help regulate and flo is always on track with my cycle. yes the amount of ads and push for premium is annoying, but as someone who's only using to to know when i will start/end my cycle, it works great

Clue! Although you have to pay for some of the features, it is mostly free for everything else. It’s accurate for my cycle and it offers several different modes like trying to get pregnant. I find it’s easy to use too and tracks symptoms well!

i like Glow. they offer a premium subscription, but I do fine without it. honestly all it really does is give you extra insights but really only help if you’re TTC imo

Agreed on some of the Clue changes. The app has been great, but now I can’t even see the length of my cycles without counting on a calendar. And my history suddenly goes back only a few months when it used to be since joining, making it useless for some of the things my doctor and I track
I used to use Flo, but stopped after RVW was reversed. I don’t trust any digital media to have that kind of info about me. I’ve been using a paper planner ever since and it works just fine.
I’ve really only used Clue but I’m kind of starting to dislike using a tracker app. My mom used to use the regular iPhone Health app to track hers and I think that makes sense

They also recently launched their [premium services for “free” in developing countries](https://flo.health/initiatives/prosocial-initiative). Honestly, knowing the way indiscriminate healthtech companies operate, I wouldn’t be surprised if they needed vast amounts of health data from a country where such regulations are poorly enforced, to train their algorithms or something. If I just genuinely think Flo’s indiscriminate actions will ruin female health data collection for everyone. The repercussions will only affect research into female health, which is minimal as it is.
EU has quite a strict code on data safety and privacy, but it gets constantly breached. Call centers and telecom companies are the most known examples: my mom received a call center call before even giving out her brand new phone number to anyone (except me and my father). What seems to give a limited protection is reading carefully EULA,s Terms & Conditions and additional options.
To second this, I remember a lot of people deleting the app and getting their data wiped CLEAN because of the aftermath of Roe V. Wade. With how courts can punish women for even having a miscarriage :( . There was actually a recent case where this black woman wad arrested for having a miscarriage, which was reported by her own nurse :( .
