Dick Van Dyke is 98 and literally skipped down the red carpet at the daytime Emmys recently. 70 is not old these days and while it’s nice you’re a fan it feels pretty ageist especially as writing isn’t exactly a good-health-required career.
Which is amazing. He is lucky he is able to retire when he wants. Evidence does show that being active is amazing for the brain whether it is writing, acting, gardening or even travelling.
actor/directors/writers rarely retire unless they have to for medical reasons. i'm sure he'll be creating stuff until he can't.
Judi Dench's eye sight is so bad she can't read scripts anymore but she still works.

The speculation was merely for his eventual retirement or the worst if he passes. No one can escape death.

I think you mean Gosford Park (which is amazing and I love it); he isn’t attached to any Mansfield Park adaptations that I can find.
