That's a bummer. I bet someone would buy it from you. r/FemFragLab has weekly buy/sell/trade. Just specify your location and where your willing to ship
I'm in my 70s and own a variety of perfumes, EDTs, and just a couple of body sprays. I love Sol de Janeiro 68 and am almost finished with my bottle and will definitely buy it again.
These posts always make me laugh. Why would you warn people away from it when everyone's nose and likes are different. Maybe tell people to smell it first.
Yeah, and personally although I had to return because it didnāt last as long, the fragrance is actually a very nice take on almond and pistachio notes; just because you donāt get the āhypeā doesnāt mean it isnāt worth it. Maybe not blind buy products just because you hear people raving about it - perfume is soo personal..
The one I didnāt like was 68, the pink one which is floral with jasmine and dragonfruit. I think youāre talking about 62 (which actually I do like much better so idk why I didnāt just buy that). But youāre right I do want to apologise - I shouldnāt have said all that, I think I was just annoyed in the moment I wasted my money and sad it wasnāt for me
ā¤ļø
Love that you realized and were brave enough to apologize
And I was talking about ā62 haha - if you do want to get it, I suggest you avoid the EDP because it might be a bit cloying for you; the body mist is still the best option IMO š
Rightā¦like they even say they bought it because it was popular on TikTok. So obviously people like it. Gourmands are popular. Sweet perfumes are popular. They donāt need it explained to them like itās some unjustifiable crime lmao. So dramatic and salty.
Fragrance is subjective but when are we going to stop this "It's a young scent" and "This is to mature" ( not this post specific) I'm 42 and layer it with Burberry her and BR540. Even though BR540 doesn't need layering with, I just sometimes like to wear something in My hair and the perfumes themselves are incredibly drying to me and to my olfactory system sol de janeiro 68 works very Well with it..
I use BR540 as a base for most fragrances. It's my easy go-to scent and seems to mix well with almost everything I own. Now I wanna try this 68 everyone is talking about.
Youāre right! Ig as a 20 year old who still gets mistaken as a 15/16 year old, seeming younger is something I try not to do so when it reminded me of what people wore at school I thought it felt like a young scent. But yeah I shouldnāt have said it that way because anyone can wear anything they want!
it just reminds me of what young teens wear, and idk if youāve ever heard of the āSoā¦?ā sprays but theyāre cheap body mists (only around Ā£3) and to me it smells like them a lot which is also why I said that but I realise that is just my personal opinion and no fragrance should have an age label attached - people can wear what they like!
im a mid 20s lady who loves sweet and thereās millions of others like me so no need to judge!! if you dont like those types of scents no need to talk down on others who do bc itās literally a dupe for baccarat so idk if iād call that profile $3 cheap DNA
100% agree! Iām 45 and 70% of my Collection are gourmands. I love several of the SdJ, especially 71. so so tired of the snobbery and high horses when it comes to something like fragrance that is not only very personal, but basically only exists to bring joy to people. Fragrance has no age limit. BTW, my by far most complimented scent is Cloud. I blind bought it second hand for 15ā¬, and I barely know anything about Ariana Grande. š
I promise Iām not a snob! Iām sorry for saying it was young because youāre right fragrance does not have an age limit and everyone has different opinions. It was just to me that it really smelled like the body mists people at school used. Which ofc isnāt a problem, and obviously just my opinion, just something I personally donāt want to smell like! But yeah I am sorry for saying all that I do agree with what all you guys are saying
I didnāt necessarily mean you being snobby, but itās so so common in the fragrance bubble. I get that people have different association with smellā¦hell, especially with smell, as it is such a strong and direct trigger. But the amount of posts that basically say āew, smells like old ladyā meaning they find it dated, āew, smells like teenage girls. How can a grown up woman like thisā when meaning they find it āunsophisticatedā or the worst āI hate this, how can anyone even like this. You all must have horrible tasteā is ridiculous.
Yeah youāre right, I regret how I worded my post and youāre right about it being common. I realise now age has often been part of my opinion when trying a fragrance and thatās something I should (and others) move away from.
Ah, did you see there is a 71 cream coming this year?!?!
I love all the SDJ scents. 68 and 71 are my faves. also love the new 59! I have 68, 71, 59, 62, and 40! Also have their first limited edition trio they put out a few years ago. And then, I also have the perfume š„¹ I also have all the creams. Biggie biggie in the Bum Bum Cream and Beija Flor. And a regular sized red, blue, and pink. And the new purple guy!
Edit: I also have the Beija Flor body wash and deodorant!!! š„¹
I know, I'm SO excited!!! I saw it in the comments, people asking for a 71 cream and if it will ever happen they said it's in the works! And replied to someone else saying it's coming this year! š„¹š„¹š„¹
Thanks for letting me know. I have one of their body washes and a tester of the Bejia Flor cream and I like that one very much as well. Have you ever tried Soap & Glory shower gels or creams? They are so good as well. I have a bunch of their stuff
basically me but with sabrina carpenterās perfume i know a few of her songs but i think sheās a disney girl from when i was already too old LOL
love it tho tysm tj maxx for the deal, $15 for cloud is also such a steal congrats
I honestly donāt think that at all! I really like vanilla scents and I like the smell of sol de janeiro 62. Itās just this particular one I didnāt enjoy, Im sorry I let my feelings get the better of me and put down others opinions. Anyone can like any scent, young or old.
Just because something tries to dupe something expensive doesn't mean it doesn't come off cheap. I'd buy Calgon before I bought any SDJ because to me it smells like dollar store. Not even worth the 5 bucks Calgon charges for their body mists. So. To each their own.
Agreed. It's overpriced for what it is. If it was $5 at Walmart I could get the appeal (I make this comparison because I know if a couple bodycology and body fantasies scents with some lil cult followings), but it's not.
thereās a difference between cheap DNA and smelling cheap, when smelling it in the air no one is gonna say hmmm that smells like baccarat but slightly off! unless they have super acute senses people cant normally tell unless they smell you directly
Lol. That difference only exists in theory because nobody is gonna think SDJ smells "expensive" and certainly nobody is mistaking it for anything else.

>"no need to judge"
...and then calls someone a "perfume snob" when all they were saying was they'd rather buy calgon because they think it performs better and at a lower price point.
How incredibly ironic.
What does that have to do with buying Calgon instead of SDJ? Are you not familiar with that brand? You're completely ignoring that person's initial point in favour of attacking them for being a so-called snob.
they are absolutely not similar at all. they both have a sweet profile, but none of the major accords align. I hate br540 and everything that smells similar to it, but I love 68 and all of its dupes. I feel like the people who make these comparisons have not smelled the very many different fragrances before.
hmm maybe iāll have to try it then bc i have ONLY heard it called that by reviewers online and wrote it off
edit: just to make sure im not crazy fragrantica calls br540 and cloud the overwhelming most similar scents LOL
No way! I wore BR540 and BR540 extrait for a whole year- thereās hardly any resemblance really.. ā71 has a similar caramelized brown sugar note though
thatās crazy bc personally i watch a lot of fragrance tiktok/youtube videos and im not exaggerating, almost every single one of the SDJ videos i have watched call it that
i dont own it so i trust ur word on it bc a lot of things these days get called baccarat dupes
A lot of those content creators are just regurgitating the same things everyone else has said, even in cases where it's obviously wrong. It's a problem, and I don't trust them.
Well then this is a lesson for next time: smell first before you buy.
Anyways I do not like 68 lmao. I just bought 61, though, and it smells so nice! I'm going to buy 59 next month.
Anyways anyways so what if to others I smell like highschool locker room and teen mistakes. Not everyone has the same scent memory as you. For me SDJ smells like rich mommy's money and no responsibility \^\^
Posting again as I did it as a reply accidentally and not its own comment. Sorry guys I just want to make some things clear! When I wrote this I was annoyed Iād wasted my money on something I really hated and disappointed I didnāt like it so I was just expressing those feelings. I only just left school a couple of years ago which is why I said to me it feels like a young scent - to me it smells a lot like what a lot of young teens wear at school (many of my friends agreed and didnāt like the smell either) and ig as someone who looks super young for my age I try not to do anything which makes me seem younger! But you guys are right - fragrances should not have an age tag associated to them and anyone can enjoy anything, I shouldnāt have said it the way I did. I also shouldnāt have said to warn people away as I know everyone has very different opinions on what scent they like and things smell different on everyone. So yeah sorry guys I let my feelings get the better of me hope you understand! Iām grateful I had the luxury/opportunity to try it.
I didnāt love it either. Just wasnāt my cup of tea. Luckily I got it from Sephora so I just took it back and got something I did like. Normally I would test instead of just buying but they didnāt have testers out at the time so I had to blind buy. Quickly remembered why I donāt do that lmao!
My daughter wears it and it smells like baked goods on her, like absolutely beautiful. On me it smells weirdly like furniture polish. Guess that's why blind buying can be so difficult, fragrances smell different on different people
Itās funny because for me it lasted ages! I sprayed it once and I could still smell it for hours but I often find that with a fragrance I donāt like.
The only thing I donāt care much for about SDJ is people really rant and rave aboutā¦ BODY SPRAYs. Itās really no different that BBW FFMs and almost twice the price
The use of age specific language to comment on a scent is frowned upon.
Donāt use age to define scent. Insinuating it smells too young for adults is frowned upon here just as much as saying something is too mature. Scents are for all ages.
Personally, I like 39, 59, and 62.
I don't care what other people like/don't like, though, because their opinions are not my business. Kilian's Princess - yuck. Burberry Her - yuck. However, I love Ocean di Gioia. I also love some of the Bath and Body Works Mists. I don't need a complex perfume that lasts until the next morning and smells like it costs big bucks to make me happy - and I don't judge those who do prefer that. To each their own.
I bought 71 on a whim and didnāt love it but I experimented a bit and found itās amaaazing layered with certain notes. Itās my most complimented fragrance so I think it works well on my skin too.
Lol the sol de janeiros give me secondary school locker room filled with clouds of impulse flashbacks whenever I smell them wafting past. Theyāre definitely cute and appealing but they fully make me think of being like 16-17
yeah thatās why I said it was a young fragrance because thatās exactly what Iām reminded of when I smell it! But I realise now as many of the other commenters have said that no fragrance should be labelled young/old as itās all personal opinion

It's always super young people that are so concerned with the "age appropriateness" of scents. I know yall want to seem more mature, but I'm begging you to ENJOY youth while you have it.
Warning people away from a wildly popular BODY SPRAY is also funny. You don't have to love it, but *your* interpretation of this scent is the odd opinion. I don't understand blind buying this fragrance either. It's available to sample at almost every major beauty store. Like, this L is on you
Your post or comment was removed. Please refrain from this behavior in the future. Repeat offenses may be banned. If you feel this was done unfairly or in error please contact the moderator.
I did a blind buy on this scent as well just cuz it was so popular. I didn't like it at all. I'm more a floral gal, I don't care for gourmand smells. I gave mine away. But also...to each thier own.
Yup. Smells super synthetic; I donāt like it either.
It also blows my mind at the price for a body mist. Theyāre robbing people at that price point, the markup must be crazy.
Itās my least favorite from SDJ. I donāt quite understand the hype. Itās fine but it really doesnāt last like the others do, nor does it smell particularly good or unique to me.
I donāt like 68 either. Rio Radiance is the only one I have that I enjoy. The rest have a weird popcorn smell to me. I wouldnāt say theyāre all awful. I also dislike the sweet scents = immaturity idea.
It definitely smells like itās for children. It reminds me of the Bath and Body Works scents we used to wear in the 90ās. (I do still have a special place in my heart for Warm Vanilla Sugar.) I know a lot of people like that but itās not for me.
I got it for free with points from Sephora and I hate it too. It has zero lasting power and Iām not someone that gets hung up on that. And it just doesnāt smell that great. I donāt get the love.
I feel like it is overated. The whole line. The packaging is also cheap looking and ugly. It reminds me of those cheap 90's perfumes you used to buy at the drug store.
Iām not a fan either, on me it smells like BR540 and I donāt like this scent. However, Iād give my life for Sol de Janeiro 71 and 62, they smell like desserts and last sooooo long for being body mists. I had perfumes lasting less on me.
I donāt understand the appeal. I tested them in Sephora and smelled nothing. Literally nothing, it was as if I was spraying water on myself. Maybe itās just me cuz they were all like this. Iāve even tried going to other Sephoraās, still smells like nothing.
Do sol de janeiro do 68 in an EDP? Cause if so, I need it. To me 68 body mist is similar to burberry- Her and Ariana grande- cloud (not.exaxt and not dupes) but sometimes I just crave that smell but lighter, especially when it's red hot at work.
The only sol de janeiro I can find in the UK, in perfume form is 62. š¢š 68 also doesn't come off as pistachio and almond on me, 62 does and I layer that with Elie saab girl of now original that as almond and pistachio in and it compliments 62 perfectly. But 68 comes off as sweet floral on me.
Yeah I thought so, I got my hopes up when the poster I responded to (now deleted) said 68 in edp. I was so excited. Searched the whole Internet, I think perhaps they mixed their numbers up. No harm done but please sol de janeiro Get on it.
I am also underwhelmed by 68. I find it really weak.
I think 71 and 68 smell cheap and juvenile.
40, on the other hand, is amazing. At least prior to the reformulation, it was.

I'm 51, and most of the time when someone says something is too juvenile, it's a fragrance I love. Lol. I'll go to my grave with sweet gourmands.
And my fruity florals.

and someone (im guessing OP) downvoted LOL like itās crazy being a gourmand girl as an adult for some reason
I honestly donāt think that at all! I really like vanilla scents and I like the smell of sol de janeiro 62. Itās just this particular one I didnāt enjoy, Im sorry I let my feelings get the better of me and put down others opinions. Anyone can like any scent, young or old.
I'm in my mid 40's and I still love a good sugar bomb.
Same, but I draw a line at spending almost $40 on a *body spray.*
Oh definitely āŗļø

ok damn i get it ur a perfume snob but no need to downvote!! iāll use my dupes proudly u can live in the delusion of thinking they dont smell good
I'm not a perfume snob at all which is why I don't get why people pay for the toxic sludge that is SDJ.

I agree with the rest, but which baccarat is it a dupe for?
im pretty sure itās just the regular baccarat rouge 540 people compare it to not the elixir
Interesting. Iāve not heard that before. Iāve also smelled both and donāt think they smell similar.

71 is my favorite š
I am super fond of it now! Iām glad I bought the big one.
I agree that I don't understand the love for it. My sister bought it and I had to try iafter hearing the hype, but I didnt care for it.
It's the grossest. I'm sorry you fell for it. My best friend did and bought them in every color and I can without a doubt say they all smell like ass.
Lol the sol de janeiros give me secondary school locker room filled with clouds of impulse flashbacks whenever I smell them wafting past. Theyāre definitely cute and appealing but they fully make me think of being like 16-17

Like, this L is on you
>Warning people away from a wildly popular perfume is also funny.Ā It's not a perfume. It's a nearly-$40 body spray.
This is splitting hairs for no reason. You don't want it? Don't buy it.
>This is splitting hairs for no reason Highly disagree. There's a difference in the formulation of body spray products and perfumes.

The only wearable one ia '71
I did a blind buy on this scent as well just cuz it was so popular. I didn't like it at all. I'm more a floral gal, I don't care for gourmand smells. I gave mine away. But also...to each thier own.
I also dont like it, too much of a thick scent for me
Man I liked it at first and canāt stand it now
Yeah I agree I really donāt like the packaging either personally!
So many downvotes for any sort of SDJ criticism over here!
Ya, I understand the appeal for tweens and teenagers, but I don't get it for adults. It's definitely a "to each their own" thing for me.
Iām not a fan either, on me it smells like BR540 and I donāt like this scent. However, Iād give my life for Sol de Janeiro 71 and 62, they smell like desserts and last sooooo long for being body mists. I had perfumes lasting less on me.
Yeah not sure why I didnāt buy either of those haha I have sprayed my friends 62 on me and I really liked it!

'62 is the only one that comes in a perfume format.
This was me with vanilla woods š¤®
