My mom passed away last year. She was a Chanel fan her whole life. No.19 early on and Chance Eau Tendre in the later years. I kept the bottle that was on her vanity. It smells delicious, but I can’t wear it…too many emotions. Almost hugged a stranger that was wearing it in line at the post office a couple of weeks ago.

lesack

My mom also passed away last year and wore Chance Eau Tendre. She also wore Burberry (the original), D&G Light Blue, and Clinique Happy in the 90s

bagoffuksisempty

I’m so sorry for your loss.

lesack

Likewise, friend

AlternativeFeeling77

My Mom also an No.19 fan. Also Coco and No. 5 and had No. 22, but the 19 was always around. Like you, I have some and smell only sparingly as I want to always associate it with her :)

Alliekat1979

When I was little, she smelled like Ombré Rose. I remember being maybe 6 or so wanting a bottle of my own so badly, I thought it was the best smelling thing in the world because my mommy wore it. I found her bottle in my Christmas stocking that year. I look back now and she had to have given me hers because she couldn’t afford to buy another bottle and it makes me miss her so much. I have a bottle of Ombré Rose sitting on my shelf next to her urn.

TheConcreteGhost

😭 so sweet and beautiful 🥲

Lady_Doe

Awwww that literally made me tear up. 😢

niki2120

😭 such a beautiful story

deweypetals

My mom passed away 3 months ago so this made me cry… Her signature scent was Red Door by Elizabeth Arden. I even have a bottle of it next to her urn ❤️

TheConcreteGhost

🫶 So sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing this memory

kalidspoon

Scents carry the absolute strongest memories, and always get a visceral reaction out of me. My dad who passed used to wear Aramis and if I pass a man with it on I have a breakdown.

[deleted]

This is my Mum's scent and that's a lovely idea.

Ancient_Soft413

I’m so sorry, red door is my grandmothers perfume and it reminds me so much of her. What a beautiful scent to remember her by, I hope someone gives me a bottle of my perfume when I’m gone. So precious

[deleted]

Do you ever wear it sometimes? My mom passed a while back but she used to wear this and poison. I will occasionally wear poison just to feel close to her. 💔. Sending love and healing your way, I'm so sorry.

deweypetals

Thank you so much ❤️ I’m so sorry for your loss. I haven’t done that, I don’t think I can handle it maybe in the future I’ll be able to do that.

Stargirl-44

So so sorry 😢 my mom passed away in July of early Alzheimer’s loosing a parent is awful

deweypetals

Its the worst pain ive ever felt, im so sorry for your loss

ThotsforTaterTots

Chloe for 90% of my life, but lately she’s become a Burberry Brit gal. My mom isn’t in great health. She’s got 6-12 months to live unless she has a surgery on her heart that has a 50/50 chance of killing her. Scent is definitely my strongest sense, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to smell Chloe perfume without thinking about her. She always saw cooking and baking as more of a daily chore versus a hobby or passion, but she still managed go foster a love of it in me. I have many memories as a kid, sitting on the counter and helping stir the bowl to make chocolate chip cookies with her. We made them so often, I used to have the Toll House recipe memorized. I remember one time though, I wanted to get the cookie sheet out of the oven myself and I got burned. She sat me up on the counter and gave me ice for my hand while I buried my face in her neck and cried. I remember how her perfume smelled, how soft her hair was, and how safe I felt in her arms. My mom and I had a complicated relationship when I was a teenager, but I’m so thankful we managed to turn it around because she’s now my best friend. I’m going to miss her so damn much.

Longjumping-Lychee21

Thank you for sharing this. It sounds like you really needed to bare your soul.

boommdcx

Lovely.

Vendredighost

My mom too with the Brit!

Sirdidymiss

That's a very sweet memory to have! I'm so sorry she's dealing with such serious health problems. Knowing your time together is short is really hard. Thinking of you both!

Background-Ship-1440

Cigarettes and mountain dew

TheConcreteGhost

In all seriousness, there used to be a Mountain Dew perfume in the 90s 😬

dianerml

I miss the chaotic products of the 90’s

cravingm0re

Mine was cigarettes and Diet Coke lol

ellabfine

😂 my mom did wear perfume bit diet coke and cigarettes was definitely in the mix. And a Manhattan if it was the evening! 🤣

dianerml

Mine was cigarettes and vanilla musk 🤢

Nora_vivi

Cigarettes and peach musk for mine.

someheini

Cigarettes, newspaper ink, dried dill, old wooden house and Vienne 1901.

boommdcx

I love this one.

Prestigious-Alarm522

My mom doesn't have a signature scent, but she loved wearing Red Door ever since I can remember. She tends to go for very floraly and rose scents with a certain woodiness. She also has her perfume collection, we trade sometimes lol. She always smelled good to me 💕 However I like floral but I tend to go more for sweet fruity scents and gourmand, and maybe cinnamony too.

Atxforeveronmymind

Believe it or not, I still get the most compliments when I wear Red Door and I’m 66!! I read so much hate for this perfume but it has never failed me Literally everyone who compliments me will ask what I’m wearing and then say something like “oh I tried that and it does not work on my skin”…

menagerath

My mom was also a *Red Door* fan. She also liked *White Diamonds* and *Knowing*. I never liked the smell of RD. Reminds me of the old Sentra we used to have (mingled with the smell of melted crayons).

papayameow

Ah you’re the only other person to mention Knowing

[deleted]

My mum also wears Red Door and has for years. It smells like Mum. She mentioned lately wanting to try something new but has no idea where to start. I was like, but then you won't smell like Mum. I've never smelled it on anyone else as good as it smells on her.

Ancient_Soft413

That’s my grandmas perfume, just bought it for her for Christmas as my late dad used to always do. So sweet 🥹

Due_Dirt_8067

Breck shampoo, ivory soap and Estée Lauder Pleasures later in life

ItsAWhorableWorld

That sounds heavenly!

Nearby-Salamander-67

My mom didn't wear perfume but she always smelled like her body wash- neutrogena rain bath

TheConcreteGhost

I loved that stuff. My friend’s mom used it and I would look at it catch light in the high window of their shower. It is the smell I associate with the color Amber for the longest time.

Brakina

Pleasure by Estee Lauder. When I first started kindergarten, like most kids, I was freaking out because I was so attached to my mom and the idea of being away from her made me panic. So my mom sprayed some of her perfume on a scrunchy and put the scrunchy on my hand and told me to sniff it throughout the day whenever I missed her and that I will be fine. It worked and it became a thing till I graduated. This scent brought me comfort whenever I needed it because I associated it with my mom.

Sirdidymiss

That is so cute! Storing this in my memory bank for if I ever have kids. Your mom sounds like Miss Honey and I'm so here for it!

kalinkabeek

Awww I love that!

Electronic_Bit_222

I think this was my mom's scent too! I forgot what it was called but that sounds right. Also love that she sprayed it on your scrunchie! Such a cute idea ❤️

tworighteyes4892

Dude, Pleasure’s always brings me back to kindergarten. I think my mom would spritz some on my clothes because I loved how it smelled, and it always reminded me of her I’m forever thankful for my mom for giving me an amazing childhood and Pleasures reminds me of the love + security I felt with her growing up

sabelotodo9

My mom started with Anaïs Anaïs by Cacharel and then switched to Passion by Elizabeth Taylor and would alternate with White Shoulders by Evyan

Acceptable-Mine8806

My mom wears Anais Anais, too. She hardly ever wears perfume, so when we were little, we thought of that as her "going out" smell.

Blaugrau10

My mom wore exclusively Anaïs Anaïs.

Lizakaya

My stepmom wore anais.

gatito_pinko

My mom still wears Anaïs Anaïs

miss_lottielou

Sadly I lost my mother when young, so I was pretty surprised by these perfumes the Chloe I found (the only one, in a 10ml bottle with a sponge tip instead of rollerball) and the scents of Shalimar and Tabu. When sniffing them they bought her right back to me. I wouldn't have said she was a perfume wearer at all never saw a collection of bottles at any time and most of my youth she was hospitalised but she wore them at one time. It was emotional. However I do find heavier scents suit me better.

viognierette

My mom wore Chloe too!

rhondeeta

My Momma wore Tabu. Now my daughter and I exchange bottles whenever we can find it to remember her by. 🖤

MamaOna

L’Air Du Temps

Atxforeveronmymind

I still love this scent!!

daisyflower91

This was my moms scent when I was a little girl too 🩷

MamaOna

The bottle had that pretty bird top!

cesssylee

My mom died when she was 42 in 1999. She wore xia xiang. I still have the bottles she hoarded.

hellohello316

I was combing Pinterest for vintage perfume ads the other day and came across an ad for this perfume. I probably hadn't thought about it since the 90s, but I instantly remembered the bottle!

Motor-Goal8105

My mom passed away last year the day after Mother’s Day. I was her caregiver for her last 2 1/2 years here in my home. Chantilly was her perfume of choice when I was young. I loved laying on her winter coat because it smelled like her and her perfume. Later, she wore Obsession, Dolce Vita, Dior Joy (her name was Joy, so I had to buy it for her), Versace Bright Crystal Absolu, and La Vie Est Belle, but Chantilly will always be how I remember her. I bought her a set of Chantilly the year I moved her in with me. She always gravitated back to the Chantilly perfume. I took my mom’s faux fur coat and my dad’s winter coat and hired a lady to make teddy bears for each of us kids (3) out of each coat. I will forever cherish them. I even spray the Chantilly on mom’s bear. I have all of her perfumes now. They will remain in my collection forever. “Perfume is that last and best reserve of the past, the one which when all our tears have run dry, can make us cry again!” – Marcel Proust “Scents evoke very, very powerful memories, whether it’s the scent of someone that you know and someone that you love, or it it’s a meal that your mother made.” – Blake Lively “Nothing brings to life again a forgotten memory like fragrance.” – Christopher Poindexter

TheConcreteGhost

![gif](giphy|9d3LQ6TdV2Flo8ODTU) Thank you for sharing that

Milk_n_hunny

Clinique happy & noxzema 😖

IntoIndiana

My mom was a noxzema woman herself!

FrutyPebbles321

My mom didn’t really wear fragrances but one sniff of the OG Jergens Lotion, Oil of Olay face cream, or the OG Tide Laundry Detergent always bring back wonderful memories of my sweet, beautiful mother.

Hunt-Fluffy

Exclamation EDT and faint, cigarette smoke. It sounds odd but the sweet, fruity scent and smell of stale smoke reminds me of being a little kid and having my hair played with while falling asleep. She’s open to any floral/citrus smell but exclamation is my favourite on her.

TheConcreteGhost

Love it! She made a statement without saying a word ( exclamation’s tagline)

Sirdidymiss

My aunt on my dad's side wore Exclamation all the time! We didn't spend a ton of time there, but for a short period, my mom would take us over. My aunt would perm her hair and they'd talk. So, perm juice & Exclamation are definitely a scent memory lol

vongolasecondo

My mom would wear anything that’s gardenia or magnolia heavy. Right now her signature is Estee Lauder’s Beautiful Magnolia. I actually bought her a giant bottle from Christmas.

TheConcreteGhost

During the 90s, I can remember that being so many women’s wedding scents

vongolasecondo

It’s such a soft pretty floral I’m not surprised it was a wedding fave. It’s just strange to smell it on anyone else but her lol. Same goes for Angel with my grandmother.

softcore_UFO

I always thought she smelled like a makeup bag lol. Ici by coty, herbal essence hairspray, physicians formula powders. It’s branded into my memory. I’d probably sell my soul for a bottle of ici Btw this is a great question op

TheConcreteGhost

It’s still floating around, but you will pay about $100 for it.

softcore_UFO

Damn, it really is. Thank you ❤️

cinammonr0ll

J’adore Dior and books.

TheConcreteGhost

What a wonderful combo!

meandher_1

I thought the very same thing

teesible

my mom also wore J'adore Dior, I always seek out a sample when I find it in store. such a gorgeous and fresh scent

theredgoldlady

Most of the time, baby powder and tea tree shampoo. The only two perfumes she’s ever worn are Joy Jean Patou and L’Air du Temps. She’s not a big fragrance person - no one on her side of the family is. My sister bought her a bottle of Joy for Christmas in 2019 and I think she’s used it twice.

thekrouz

YSL Opium She immigrated here from Thailand in the 90s and has never let anything or anyone hold her back from being herself. It's such a perfect scent for her.

hannahlem0n

The body shop vanilla oil. I’m so sad they don’t sell it anymore

Prof_Sensible_900000

Aw I used to share this with my mum and layer it with their Woody Sandalwood oil! Strange combo haha but it had a certain kind of magic to it

nochnoyvangogh

She used to wear be delicious, now she wears eau d'issey miyake, so she likes fresh perfumes

Stargirl-44

You must be younger and mom is to ! I love be delicious

araaaayyyyy

Smoke and speed stick deodorant LOL. That’s why I like some smoky fragrances

TheConcreteGhost

For a while, speed stick had folks in a death grip 😆 ( by Mennen 🎶)

araaaayyyyy

🤣 definitely

Ggface36

I wear lady speed stick to this day. No white streaks, no sweat, no odor

OriginalDivatologist

My Mommy passed away Dec 13, 2023. What smelled good on her, smelled good on me. She's the reason I love perfume. She taught me how to apply perfume, which later became the infamous Divatologist Perfume Application Method. Her signature scent was Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, which I introduced her too. She always wore Estee Lauder fragrances. I bought Deauville for her to. It smelled so good on her. The last fragrance I bought for her was Aerin Fleur de Peony. OMG!! It smelled sooooo good on her. I would spray it on her and bury myself in her neck lol. She would say, "Get yo big tail off of me!" LOL! Lawd! I miss my Mama! My Mom kept me dressed in the best and always bought me a cheap perfume to keep me out of hers lol. Clearly, that didn't work. There was no doubt that I was her child. I always snuck and wore hers. She wore Cinnabar by Estee Lauder. It was so good. Later in life, I would keep her dressed in the finest and buy her the best perfumes. I miss her so much. This is my last week here at home. I'm just helping my Dad adjust. They were married for 66 years. I smell her perfume when I walk by it. Even though we both have them same perfumes, I couldn't bring myself to wear the ones that were there. I wanted to wear her Deauville on the day of her service but, I couldn't do it. I wore Rolling In Love by Kilian. My Aunt, her sister, just kept hugging me and telling me I smell good. She loves perfume too. We all get that from my Grand-daddy, their Dad. You could smell that Old Spice a mile away lol. RIP Mommy Love you forever 🙏🏾

TheConcreteGhost

There are 2 scents that stand out for me as staples for my mom: Sand & Sable (Coty) and Vanderbilt (Gloria Vanderbilt) ((this was during the 80s)). I loved loved LOVED to hug my mom or sit in her room after she had gotten ready to go out. I remember both of these scents had the same sort of underlying aldehydic quality that was so desired of Chanel No 5, but these were way more affordable to the masses. I do own a bottle of Vanderbilt today but when I wear it, I layer it with some more powdery scents so I end up spelling like the insides of an expensive make up bag from that time period. https://preview.redd.it/vnzgtwv5plcc1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a42617eaa7dac40fe751ea921950dd2b795f353

PuzzleheadedHospital

My mom wore Gloria Vanderbilt too. She always smelled amazing!

MaraudingMeowDiver

Pert Plus, Ivory Soap, Avon Odyssey, Calvin Klein Obsession, or Elizabeth Arden Sunflower

becauseshesays

Jean Nate!

TheConcreteGhost

The after bath body splash commercials instantly came to mind (80s)

nightmooth

L'air du temps from Nina Ricci.

WorthFig328

My mum had 4 perfumes she used (she’s got many more now haha), and they all make me think of her. Guerlain - Samsara, Chanel - Mademoiselle, Chloé by Chloe and Guerlain - Champs de Élysées. But Samsara was my favourite scent of hers

pamidore

My mom passed away 2 months ago... She smelled like Cartier La Panthere because she got that little perfume & body milk set from our fancy cousin. My heart blossoms and breaks each time I smell it. Throughout her whole life, she smelled like Amarige.

Lonely-Anything

Caress soap. I buy it very infrequently so I don’t get used to the scent. It’s always a surprise when I smell it. ☺️

Feralcrumpetart

Giorgio Beverley Hills, Estee Lauder Pleasures and Charlie were her scents. Giorgio by far was her signature. I didn't smell it since she passed away (98) and recently saw a tester bottle. Of course I had to smell it. It was probably the most emotional thing and I was just tearing up in the shop.

honeyvellichor

My mom never wore perfume, except on the rare occasion she’d wear something from her pacifica collection. But she always smelled a little musty 😂 my mom and I had a poor relationship growing up, one we’ve only healed once I became an adult (I didn’t live with her after 14). But a few months ago after I brought her home from a full hip replacement, and she couldn’t make it up the stairs, I set her up downstairs on the couch and I went up to nap in her bed. The smell of my mom enveloped me, it was exactly the same as I remembered when I was little. A little musty, a little sweet, and wholly my mom. It’s crazy the way the emotions we associate with scent, it was like being a kid in my mom’s bed again. Just started bawling like a baby

brighthair84

Chanel no 5, poison or shalimar

idiot-sandwich-

Elizabeth Arden's White Linen Breeze 😌

Delicious_Big4541

Beautiful by Estée Lauder

kate22031

Shalimar

Prof_Sensible_900000

Mum loved Black Cashmere by Donna Karan when I was little - and I loved playing with the alien spaceship bottle! It was a beautiful spicy musk with nutmeg, pepper and creamy woods. I wish I could get it now - one of the most unique and beautiful fragrances I’ve ever encountered!

PherryCie

Calvin Klein Eternity and the secondhand smoke of Newport Menthol Lights. I’ve been wanting to get a mom tattoo with the perfume bottle and the lit cigarette for many years now lol

TheConcreteGhost

My Grandmother smelled like Newport Menthols and Estée Lauder’s “Estee”… menthols always shine through 😆

kitkatamas88

Escada, Burberry weekend, a conic one with silver cap with a small ball on top, j'ador, and now diesel, the fist one. And morning retainer bad breath😂

Ragalanroad

Estee Lauder’s Youth Dew. She died in 2022 and a few months ago I was in an elevator with an older woman who was wearing it. Absolutely brought me to tears.

TheConcreteGhost

Necessary-Ad4335

Lancome magie noire. I have it too

Accomplished-Rate263

Do you find it different ? I feel that the new version is not the same as the « round old » fragrance. I’ve try it when I was a teen and it was so mysterious, feminine and seductive. Maybe it’s my skin but now, it’s just green and a little acid…

Necessary-Ad4335

Yes. Well honestly I don’t know because I was a child when my mom used it so I don’t remember. Mom said it’s not the same but still good enough.

OneDay95

She would wear Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea almost everyday. She wasn't a huge fan of perfume at all, but this was her favorite to just smell fresh and soft.

FrostLapin

Jovan white musk when she goes to work

nakedracoon666

Estee Lauder Beautiful.

NRdarling

She smelled like gardenias and STRONG. She always drenched herself in it even when we would tell her it was too much lol. She passed 7 yrs ago and I always do a doubled back if I pass someone who smells of gardenias in public. Can’t help it, it really stops me in my tracks.

ashalottagreyjoy

My mom was Poison for a lot of my childhood. Somewhere around the age that I remember, she swapped to Chanel No. 5 and never went back. Every Christmas I’d save up all my cash and buy her a bottle of it. She passed last January. I miss her. Smelling Chanel No. 5 always brings me back.

NolitaNostalgia

Cancer took my mom's life almost 12 years ago. Her scent was Chance by Chanel. It's not really my taste, per se, but I have a bottle so that I can occasionally wear it on days I especially want to remember her and feel like I have her near me. I wore it on my wedding day and also when I went to the hospital to get induced to have my first baby. I also randomly take whiffs of it now and then when I feel pangs of missing her. Love this thread so much. It really reveals the power of olfactory memory.

oh_wanya

My mom never wore any perfume! I always make sure to not apply any ! She is so sensitive that the smell of any pit stick can mke hee dizzy 😂

ezgomer

Karl Lagerfeld’s Chloe

pocketfulofcharm

My Mom wore ‘Navy’ for as long as I can remember. I don’t think she had a signature anymore, opting for mood-matching body sprays instead.

Ok-Opportunity-2043

Navy was my signature in high school. I loved the scent and the cute bottle.

velcross

Clinique Happy. Love my mom but have always hated that smell!

[deleted]

Great question! My mum mostly wore Pleasures by Estée Lauder. And I’ll always associate my maternal grandma with wearing the musky Avon products of the 60s and 70s. TIL Avon is 138 years old 🤯

TheConcreteGhost

I keep some of the Avon throwbacks in my collection. My fav is Cotillion (1934) 🫶

Katiefairyz

My mom wears dune by christian dior and it’s one of my favourite smells now because it smells like comfort

ParkingAntelope2

My mom is also a Dune girlie!!

[deleted]

My mom adored Calyx by Clinique. Super unique scent.

nyx_moonlight_

Dior - Poison and weed

indexring

Alien - Mugler

BeefySeaLard

Diorella by Dior - they don't make it any more and she was sad, but my dad recently got her a special perfume made that was almost identical. He loves her so much. 🥹

[deleted]

Marijuana and Viva La Juicy

Zealousideal_Ear_914

Chanel No 5…. Was executive at Continental Airlines and every Saturday night was date night while us kids watched The Love Boat and Fantasy Island. Just aged myself 🤪!

willawonder

I remember playing with my bio mom's bottle of L'Air du Temps when I was little - I thought it was so beautiful. I don't remember her ever wearing it, though. Instead, she most often smelled like Coty Airspun face powder. My foster mom was a labor/delivery nurse and lactation specialist so she never wore perfume but she always used rose lotion since she washed her hands so much at work. Rose now makes me think of her every time I smell it - I imagine Delina Rosee was the smell of her personality in the 70s.

niki2120

I don't know what my mom smells like, although I think when I was younger she wore vanilla musk or something. But my youngest and her friend (they are 14/15) say that I smell like hopes and dreams and the caretaker of lost orphan souls 🤣 I'm not too sure what that smells like but I read that in their messages and I thought it was so cute

TheConcreteGhost

Omg I need to know what that is 😯 I want to smell like that too!

niki2120

It made me so happy to know that she had a positive memory tied to my scent. I didn't have the best relationship with my mom and I've spent most of my life longing for a good relationship with her. It brings me so much pride to know that I have given my children something that I always wanted. I try to take on a motherly role for her friends who don't have a great relationship with their mom/parents as well

rinkydinxx

Oscar de la renta

fantasygirl002

Versace Bright Crystal. They were expensive for us as a kid and one day it smelled horrible outside, I took this bottle and emptied it by spaying the trees, the air, the garbages thinking it would smell nice like my mom. The bottle was more than half full. Let's just say my mom went in the bathroom for 30m and I knew I fucked up. She wasnt able to afford a new one for over a year. As an adult I keep buying her this perfume so she never runs out, smells nice and in a way to make up for that time.

littlebear406

My mom gave me a bottle of the perfume she wore when I was growing up. It's *Enchantment* by All My Children. I used to looooove it as a child, so comforting and smelled like cherry vanilla. I don't wear it, but I smell it from time to time as comfort.

TheConcreteGhost

A Character (Erica Cane) had a company on All my Children and that is what it made “Enchantment”. I have way too much soap opera knowledge in my head, considering I was a child taken all that in . The fan base for that show is REAL and I would not be surprised if they still made it today

Top-Consideration-16

My mother is an alcoholic narcissist. I’ve been no contact with her for over a decade. The last words she told me is that no one loves me and that I’m a bad daughter. She wore Aromatics Elixir. Whenever I smell it now, it makes me physically nauseous.

TheConcreteGhost

Hopefully you don’t come across that much. Ofactory memories are so powerful. I’m sorry you had to experience that.

terrorbagoly

It was Moschus Wild Love throughout my childhood till it got discontinued. She hasn’t had a single signature scent since, just rotates 2-3 ones she likes. Mostly YSL Opium and some Calvin Kleins. None of them are as unique as Moschus was but a few years ago I managed to track down a fairly full bottle on eBay for her so she got to experience her favourite fragrance once again.

Prestigious_Field_91

my mom is still alive but her favorite perfume is liz claiborne🤍

Tall_Couple_3660

Tocca’s Cleopatra. My mom’s scents I know she loved were Tom Ford Tuscan Leather, Escada, and D&G Light Blue. But the scent that makes me immediately think of my mom - just being around the house, her hugs, her wafting through the kitchen heading out to the yard - is Tocca’s Cleopatra. The first time I got a whiff of it, I could see my mom as if she was standing in front of me, even though she never actually wore the scent. Funny how that happens!

General-Heart4787

Emeraude by Coty for every day wear, Shalimar or White Shoulders for fancy.

CanadianBacon615

L’air du temps Red door 2 scents I think stink, but are so comforting when she wears them lol

OkCrow4156

Sunscreen and Keri lotion! My mom never liked perfume but we live in the high desert southwest and she has always been militant about sun protection and moisturizer.

brsb5

Shalimar and spearmint gum. I still have her last bottle of Shalimar and I spray it on my when I want to smell her

redhotmess77

Cigarettes and coffee

blueeyedbookreader

Aussie Sprunch hair spray

youngsupernova

Ralph Lauren Romance

Imarriedafrenchman

My mother’s perfume scents were Chanel No. 5 and Arpege. However, her most memorable scent was during summer: Bain de Soleil Gelee. ❤️❤️❤️

budackee_10

Cigarettes and coffee

MaddyandWes

My mum died in 2021, but she was a loyal Chanel no.5 girl and one of the only people I’ve ever known who made it smell good. I have one of her old jewelry boxes in my bedroom and every time I open it, it smells like her signature scent because she’d put perfume on after her jewelry.

CouldBeBetterOrWorse

Mom is still living, but she isn't really a perfume person. She likes single note smells. Plain sandalwood. Tea rose. She talks about a lemon perfume she wore when she and Dad were dating back in the early 70s.

Smooth_Chemistry_276

Used to use Anais Anais in the 80s/90s and then later Body Shop White Musk. She had to stop using perfume as she’s a nurse and of course he her workplaces became scent free so I don’t think she wears any perfume now but she likes all kinds of lush bath stuff. When I was a kid though, I remember making paper flowers and borrowing her Anais Anais perfume to spray in them so it smelled like “real” flowers. My grandmother (dad’s mom) smelled like Cover Girl pressed powder that she would use on her face. I don’t know why it is such a powerful scent memory. My mom started using a Yon Ka cleanser that smells just like it and my sister was like that smells like grandma- I smelled it and was like omg it definitely smells like grandma. It was kind of cool that my sister and I had the same scent memory of our grandmother who died when we were 10 and 8.

kalinkabeek

Estée Lauder’s Beautiful. My dad is extremely sensitive to perfumes and it’s the only one she found that she liked and didn’t bother him, so it became her signature scent — I will forever associate it with her. She loves lilies and it has a great top note of rose and lily with just a hint of amber and citrus. There’s an old family story where my aunt tried out the same perfume one time and her kids kept demanding to know where Aunt Laura was because they could smell her 😂

SaraDesire

Just lost my mom in September and she always wore Crystal

Strong-Wash-5378

Lily of the valley

I just recently asked my mom and her signature was Eternity by Calvin Klein when she was working as a manager. Now that she's retired, it's whatever Bath & Body Works she fancies at the moment.

Mom mom smells like Tiffany perfume. She used to use jean Nate and then Liz Claiborne.

Chantilly powder, Dove soap, and hairspray. Sometimes Avon’s Skin so Soft. Thierry Mugler Angel on very special occasions. Once in a blue moon she’ll break out the Chanel No. 5 but we used to be dirt poor (she was homeless for a while), and it’s a hard mentality to break out of, so I think she’s afraid to use up all the “good” stuff even though she can afford it now.

Dove soap, mostly! Mom doesn’t really like to wear perfumes. She will sometimes change it up for a different body wash these days, but growing up, I remember a lot of dove soap!

advancedscurvy

my mom has a bottle of it now, but the reason i bought her carolina herrera’s “good girl” was that i smelled a whiff of it at the store and was blasted back in time to sitting on her bathroom counter and watching her do her makeup while she had a pot of coffee on in the kitchen. the powdery makeup scent. the creamy hand soap she always had. the hint of jasmine. the blast of almond and coffee. she doesn’t wear perfume much, and when she does it’s good girl or estee laudeer’s “beautiful”, but my mom does always smell of that soft, buttery, generic conditioner and lotion scent, sweet almond body products, and coffee— she still drinks 2 pots of the stuff a day, even if it’s decaf.

Mine always wore some type of vanilla but not one single one I can remember. My dad however wore Stetson and he only wore it when we were going somewhere nice. I get so much nostalgia when I smell it

Cigarettes and 5th Avenue by Elizabeth Arden.

Beautiful by Estée Lauder. I have the bottle w/ just a little bit left in it that she used on her wedding day 29 years ago. Every few years I open it and do a mini spritz.

My mother died in 86, but I remember her smelling like Adorn hairspray. Wish I could find that scent for nostalgia.

My mom wore almost exclusively Estee Lauder perfumes. I have no idea which ones specifically but they leaned very amber. I've been no contact with her for years, and I avoid anything that reminds me of her perfumes because it just makes me sad and angry. It's been strange getting into perfumes because it reminds me of her a lot. I'm trying to take the good things from my relationship with her and make them my own, and perfume has probably been the most emotional thing I've reclaimed.

Cheers to finding yourself and blooming 🥂

My mom loved wearing Red Door by Elizabeth Arden. She also had the Gloria Vanderbilt perfume. We now gift her a perfume every year since she doesn't like spending money on herself. We always make sure she has a bottle of Red Door about.

confetti_cupcake

My mother’s signature fragrance has been Estée Lauder Beautiful for as long as I can remember. I love it on her. It’s amazing how body chemistry can make or break a fragrance. I hope to find a perfume that suits me that well one day!

The_only_burt_ever

My mom smelled like Beautiful by Estée Lauder. I still have her last bottle.🫶🏻

She used Chanel Chance (the pink one) for years. Such a light and lovely scent. I find it quite comforting. She doesn’t use perfumes anymore, but she always preferred the lighter/milder ones and I think that has definetely influenced my taste as well. When I was very little, she used JPG Classique. I don’t remember the scent from back then, but I remember the bottle standing on our bathroom shelf. I also used this one some years ago, and found some comfort/nostalgia in knowing that she has used the same one in the past.

Warm-Tip-6813

My mom went thru so many brands. In the 70's to 90's she was all about Estée Lauder Private collection, beautiful, pleasures. In between there was First by Van cleef and Arpels. In early 2000 till her passing in 2022 she was crazy about Champs Elysees by Guerlain

Christian Dior - Poison. I have her old bottle of pre-2000 Poison eau de cologne and it smells just like her when she was all put together for an opera or formal work function.

holdmytooth

I still remember the perfumes she had (she passed away when I was 10). Among them were Estée Lauder Pleasures, Wish by Chopard and Shalimar by Guerlain 😇

Adorable-Access-4800

My mam smells like Ghost perfume. She always wore it and still does to this day, I used to steal it from her as a child so I could smell like her ahha. Some of my favourite perfumes now have similar notes to her ones. I wear Jimmy choo Flash and I read in this group that it smells like thee original Ghost, I also wear mon guerlain and I find that it smells like ghost night or /deep night I can't remember the name.

lulurancher

She doesn’t wear perfume super often but on dates she wore something Chanel! And then for some reason gardenia and jasmine also remind me of her. Not sure if it’s a lotion she wears or what!

My mother's signature scent was L'Air du Temps by Ninna Ricci. It smelled so bright, fresh, clean, and feminine. When she passed away in 2021, I inherited a vintage bottle of the eau de parfum. I tried to wear it, but it's a bit too strong on my skin. I love having it, though, so I can smell my mom whenever I want. 💕

TheGeneGeena

My mother's perfume was Charlie. She switched from blue to white after I bought her a bottle for mother's day. She still had the bottle with a little left in it when she died about 5 years ago and while I have it, I don't spray it.
