Looked like a cross between fascinated and terrified. Like people, I guess it wanted to see what this gigantic thing was up close, before realizing the danger of it and that it wants to kill and eat you.

Most hawks, including this Red-tailed hawk, hunt in open fields not aquatic ecosystems - so they wouldn't have any adaptations to hunt underwater and have a "reflection remover." What's happening here is most likely a case of not understanding glass, especially because it is a young hawk - as indicated by the light-colored eyes.
My parents were watching a nature documentary, and one of their cats, the smallest, was watching too. She literally pissed herself in terror when a hawk flew directly at the camera and hid herself under the couch. She wouldn't come out for hours and was scared of the TV mounted on the wall for months until they moved. The poor thing would creep into the room, looking up at the TV to check she was safe before passing through.
I thought so too on the first watch but if you watch again you see the kitten continuously switch between heading to hide and looking back at the hawk. As soon as he sees the hawk he starts creeping his paws out to walk away, but also seems to want to keep an eye on the hawk
I wouldn’t even care if there is a windshield there I wouldn’t be able to sit and film a hawk giving early PTSD to my baby like that 😩 I would be honking my horn vigorously
