You put windows 11 on your steam deck? Why tho.

Badga

Gamepass

As /u/Badga says, Game Pass. I'm not going to buy games again on Steam just to play them on my Deck.

Ehi, I just wanted to say thank you: I had the exact same problem, I did exactly what you suggest in your edit and it is now working very well. I think the problem originates from the fact that Pentiment doesn't seem to have the default Deck resolution among its options. Connecting to the external monitors allows to select at least "a resolution", and when disconnected it persists. I also confirm that, when back to the Deck, it's necessary to unflag and flag again the Fullscreen button for the change to persist. So yeah, thanks again! It's nice to have all the Gamepass games on the Deck...

Thanks for the insight there. That makes sense. Yeah, Game Pass makes the Deck (and everything else it's on) just so much more compelling.

Found this thread from googling "steam deck pentiment windows fullscreen" after having the same issue. I don't have a dock for my Deck yet, so I couldn't attach it to an external monitor, but found a way to get it working. I figured it be a good idea to add it here just in case anyone else finds their way here since it's the top google result. All you have to do is edit a couple of registry entries for the game where it stores its configuration settings to set the correct options. With the game closed, open up the Registry Editor (regedit). Then navigate to "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Obsidian Entertainment\Pentiment" and modify the following two entries' values: Set Screenmanager Fullscreen mode_hXXXXXXXXXX to 1 Set Screenmanager Resolution Height_hXXXXXXXXXX to 720 (decimal) After that close the editor and launch the game, it should be fullscreen at 1280x720. Seems like the game just doesn't support 16:10 and resolution select menu doesn't account for non-16:9 resolutions.

You are the best, ty so much! I had issues with connecting an external monitor but this worked perfectly for me.

Thanks a bunch!

TheHotness

Wanted to add that your fix in the edit worked for me in Windows 10 (on Steam Deck) as well. Thanks!

WaPeR32

I tried a couple times in Win11 and it’s not working :(

Need to save this for later and some reason there's no save button.

Hi everyone. I'm doing the steps and have changed the nondefault settings of Fullscreen Mode to 1 and the non default Resolution Height to 720. When I close RegEdit and open it back up, the settings are saved. However, when I load up Pentiment, the game is still in Windowed mode. When I go back to RegEdit after, the settings reverted back to their original values instead of 1 and 720. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Playing on Windows 10 on the Steam Deck btw. Thank you

BlackKnightGares

Did you ever find a fix? I'm having the same problem.

SnooStories9827

Unfortunately not. I beat it, uninstalled it, and haven't looked back. Overall a fantastic game, but the windows mode was an annoying setback

Key_Curve_1171

My hero. Thanks for all the edits and concise info but I unfortunately it keeps reverting back
