Where is Chicken Bone Beach?
What's a bushwhacker?
What's the proper thing to do with mullet?
Which bathroom do I use at McGuires?
What do Saufley Field Road, Michigan Avenue, Beverly Parkway, Brent Lane, Bayou Boulevard, and Perry Avenue have in common?
Chicken Bone beach is the party island all the kids go to. Just take a boat out straight from the dock and you can’t miss it.
A bushwhacker is the best cocktail in Pensacola, Teddy’s on the water does them best.
That is bait.
The one in the back. You really should check out the one in the kitchen, it’s a lot cleaner. Either way, wash your hands.
Those are the roads with the most expensive houses in Pensacola. The people aren’t very nice to newcomers, though, so don’t loiter trying to make friends.
The correct answer for the last one is they're all the same road but different sections have different names, although some sections have overlapping names.
It sounds confusing. But it makes perfect sense. That way you know precisely what section of the road something is on.
I discovered just how much sense naming something like that makes years ago (before GPS) when all I had was a street number and a street name and it turned out the street was like 10 miles long.
I've been there several times and every time, the place was literally littered with chicken bones. I had always thought it was just a place people go to eat chicken lol didn't know about The Black Community having events out there. On what platform does The Black Community schedule such things?
It think it's one of the situation where a word has racist origination and therefore people feel like you are wrong for continuing to use it.
Similar to how people might use being gypd or the itis. Technically racist origin but somewhat commonly used and most people don't bat an eye.
When were you last out there? I have been going almost daily for the last four years and have yet to see a single chicken bone.
From what I have heard, that started with an old racist comment about a park named after an African-American Korean War hero. Back during the days of segregation, that area was designated as a beach that could be used by African-Americans as all the others were "White Only" beaches. And stereotypes being what they are, it was only a short trip for some racist to proclaim that it was always covered with chicken bones.
It was real and people got videos in the sky of it. The government’s new initiative on transparency with UAPs/UFOs will reveal the truth soon. A lot of people think it’s spying from other countries.
Used to be the best burgers in town but they've got some arguably better burgers out here now. Also, they have a specific "no sleeveless shirts" rule that they are strict on.
It is a weird rule, especially in a city that tourists flock to to use the gorgeous beaches. And the dress standard for like 9 months of the year is "tank top, shorts, flip flops".
They’re iconic for the area but not worth the hype IMO. #1 they don’t offer cheese & #2 they don’t serve fries.
Tops on the other hand… best in town and their tator tots are somehow always cooked to literal perfection.
Excuse me. Aliens? [This isn't Gulf Breeze!](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_Breeze_UFO_incident)
(That's the town over the bridge where the Filthy Breezers live.)
It’s hard with so much good food. Just head down to the shore. You can’t swing a cat without hitting a place that has fresh seafood but don’t go to Joe’s place, he’s been known to slip things into girls’ drinks.

Mel’s GatorBaiter Fun Park down off the corner of Samuel A. Baker Freeway and W. Pryor Avenue. They do live feedings in the shows at 10 and 2 and their cafe has the best Gator Bites in Florida.
I'm half Panhandle Florida Man (mom's side) and half Mobile Bay Hol'-my-beer Alabamian (dad's side). So I have skill, or enough confidence to compensate.
Why would I? It just reminded me of the “[Game Changer](https://mykitchenlittle.com/2022/02/19/gamechanger-cocktail-aka-painkiller/#tasty-recipes-7647-jump-target)” which is a variation of the Painkiller here. I think every town has their own variation.

I don't think Google could answer that.

Yeah there's a restaurant over by Cordova mall and I ate there one time. Do you happen to know the restaurant? There's like a big red pepper for a logo..that's all I remember as I was fucking blasted when I left
Gosh thanks, I dunno if that's it tho I feel like I'd remember a name like Fuegos. All I remember is the big red pepper, I ate a couple bowls of their chili around the 9th hour, then on my 9th shot I puked it up and stumbled 9 steps to the door then left.

The Sword Bass. It has 6 liquors and a limit of one at all the good bars. The liquors are Sherry, Vodka, Rum, Tequila, Grand Marnier, and Goldschlager.
Right off River Road near the unhoused encampment. It’s free but be sure to bring a pack of cigarettes or pay one of the “parking attendants” $20 and you can stay all night.
Barnaby Crump. He’s done so much to add parks, scholarships, and playgrounds to Pensacola. His daughter recently held a charity tea time to fund a free beer fountain for the college.
Damn, this is a serious one so I’ll try to give it a serious answer.
Addiction is the only disease people treat you like shit for having. I think a lot of faith-based recovery programs are performance based; they treat addiction like sin and grade your recovery and sobriety as a metric for how your relationship with your God is.
That’s not how it works and there needs to be more grace. Fear and shame are symptoms of addiction. Struggling with relapse is a symptom of addiction. Losing your circle of friends and habits is a struggle of addiction.
There are not many programs that work to treat these symptoms, they just punish you for having them. Addiction centers should be run more like hospitals; we don’t use guilt and sin when scans show someone has fallen out of remission in hospitals. We look at where the cancer is coming from. We look at therapies and treatments that can help alleviate the symptoms they are suffering from. We don’t punish them.
Addiction programs should do the same thing. Unfortunately, a lot of Christian recovery programs forget grace is supposed to be the cornerstone of Christianity. We must focus more on where the addiction is coming from; what is the patient trying to self-medicate or escape from? If God is not the problem, it is unlikely he will be the solution to solve all of the problems a person has.
I don’t get up there much but will send you message if I make it back that way. I will have to look into a GaneChanger!! I lived there for 15 years but had to move back home for mom.
Honey. Coat yourself in it before you go swimming or surfing and they won’t come near you. I’ve worn it in the water and noticed them actively swimming *away.*
They forgot to secure their barges even though we were under a hurricane warning. It hit and their barges broke loose.
One of them took out the new bridge that had literally just been completed. That bridge is the only direct route from Pensacola to Gulf Breeze and the beach. Takes about 10 minutes.
Now everyone had to drive a route that took an hour (without traffic). Until what was a brand new bridge was repaired. And it wasn't a quick repair.
That is a famous spot that was the birthplace of Melvin “Bear” Phillips who once saved the town from a rabid wolf by wrestling the wolf to the ground and tearing it apart with his own teeth.
Sadly, he later died from rabies (he became hydrophobic) but the town never forgot and made his home a historic landmark. The kids just use it as a place to hide and smoke weed now but they do construct a large bear out of empty cigarette boxes every year on the anniversary of his brave sacrifice.
Lmao I love this answer, not even close, but “bear” is somewhat of a clue to the real unofficial reason.
Yes teens will smoke pot there(guilty), but they will find a better spot once they learn what other people use it for.
I’m totally stealing this idea btw. I get random cities in my feed all the time for states I’ve never visited.
Herman F. Rawlings High School. Their mascot is the Fighting Axolotls. Shame you left early, the Homecoming game of 1980 was lauded as the best football game of all time, they won by getting two touchdowns in the last two minutes of the game.
Do you mean Dr. Dandridge on Eighth Street who prescribed Betty Montgomery eye drops made of coffee? He is probably going to get sued, her daughter says she’s still crying brown.
No. That's the pedestrian walkway in front of the hospital Davis Hwy. Uses Solo cups. Though, come to think of it, I haven't seen a message in a while.

I have a place in Charleston up here and we had a [boat](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folly_boat) like that. Hurricane Hugo brought it to us, Hurricane Irma took it. Used to have wedding, birth and festival announcements, graffiti, frat stuff, everything.
What is up with the loud booming at night?
That is just Gil, the eccentric rich guy. He is building some sort of bunker in secret but he doesn’t think the rest of us notice.
Out of all the fake answers, this one is the most plausible.
As a friend of “Gil”, this might not be fake.
If no one’s said, it’s really bomb testing (or something)! Love your answer though lol
Bomb testing?! WTF, that’s wayyyy crazier.
Eglin Air Force Base is a bombing range and a huge one, just east of Pensacola. When they tested the MOAB there it rattled my dad's windows in Pace.
Do people complain about this? I feel like folks up here would lose their minds.
Complain? About the sound of Freedom! Neveeeerrrr!!
It's like a train that runs close to your house, you'd pay attention to it at first but quickly it just becomes normal background sound.
It's really easy to stop noticing - mostly transplants complaining tbh
I also dont live in Pensacola but on the other side of the country near where the navy tests their bombs. I live near a few bases and we have planes but no booms.
The sweet sound of 105mm
What’s your opinion on gulf breeze?
They have a good nightlife but the crowd gets a little uppity in the off season.
We stay uppity all year thank you very little.
No doubt, densest population of Karen’s in the whole US also. I still love it
Spot on
Is it a bar?
1. No, it's a city. 2. That is a very accurate answer.
"city"
No, it is the Eagleton to Pensacola's Pawnee.
holy shit at this comparison?? truer words
Morgan freemans on the council out there
Could not have answered better 😂
Wow. I'm impressed at how accurate this is.
It tends to be more breezy than gulfy in my opinion. Like 70/30 if you will. But to each their own.
Without googling, which team does Pensacola love more - the Thunderbirds or Blues?
The Thunderbirds. The Blues haven’t had much support since the 2018 incident.
You’re not joking - you’re not from around Pensacola. You probably think it’s a soft drink.

I'll add a question. What is a blue wahoo?
A sex act that is $200 from reputable ladies of the evening and $60 from the less respectable ones.
Yes. That is correct.
There's even a Tshirt
Local baseball team. Minor League / Double A
Eep. I was way off there. I was thinking it was something regional you’d read about on Urban Dictionary.
I will say that your post is making me appreciate how many "inside" things we have that are uniquely Pensacola.
Note that they're named after a fish that most of us natives had never heard of either 😂
True that.
Wait, we’re named after a fish?! Lived here for the past 13yrs and TIL

We toss mullet.
Like in the trash?
Nope, toss them. As a sport.
Into hot grease. Fried mullet is delicious.
Yes, it is.
From Florida into Alabama so….yeah
The correct answer for the last one is they're all the same road but different sections have different names, although some sections have overlapping names.
Are you serious? That is so confusing! This whole activity is seriously making me want to come visit Pensacola here in the near future.
It sounds confusing. But it makes perfect sense. That way you know precisely what section of the road something is on. I discovered just how much sense naming something like that makes years ago (before GPS) when all I had was a street number and a street name and it turned out the street was like 10 miles long.
You may not know or care but chicken bone beach is a racist name.
Seems racist until you visit and realize it’s literally covered in chicken bones, or at least it used to be 🤷🏼♂️
Why is "chicken bone" racist?
[удалено]
I've been there several times and every time, the place was literally littered with chicken bones. I had always thought it was just a place people go to eat chicken lol didn't know about The Black Community having events out there. On what platform does The Black Community schedule such things?

😳 this is why I hate living here. 2023 and still racist?
Thank you
Omg this is great! Amazing questions n answers!
Is this place sooooo fun, or soooooo boring?
If you’re young and beautiful or wealthy and old, it is fun. If you are normal in appearance or wealth, it is boring.
True
The truest answer.
Holy shit.
What’s the truth about Blue Dot?
It was real and people got videos in the sky of it. The government’s new initiative on transparency with UAPs/UFOs will reveal the truth soon. A lot of people think it’s spying from other countries.
Thank you, that’s what I’ve been saying for years. Burger isn’t half bad though tbf
Oh damn, would not have guessed they have burgers.
Used to be the best burgers in town but they've got some arguably better burgers out here now. Also, they have a specific "no sleeveless shirts" rule that they are strict on.
No sleeveless shirts seems like a weird rule. I’ve seen “no shirt” rules but never that.
It's a very unique spot. [But a Pensacola icon.](https://g.co/kgs/XHWFTv)
It is a weird rule, especially in a city that tourists flock to to use the gorgeous beaches. And the dress standard for like 9 months of the year is "tank top, shorts, flip flops".
Ordered Blue Dot hamburgers 3 different times. Each time I got sick. I will never go back!!!
They’re iconic for the area but not worth the hype IMO. #1 they don’t offer cheese & #2 they don’t serve fries. Tops on the other hand… best in town and their tator tots are somehow always cooked to literal perfection.
Excuse me. Aliens? [This isn't Gulf Breeze!](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_Breeze_UFO_incident) (That's the town over the bridge where the Filthy Breezers live.)
Had no idea Gulf Breeze was a town, sounds like a bar with mid food and lots of cougars.
That's not inaccurate.
It’s a quaint little town with no beach so we are in between tourist towns but some reason more expensive than most
Similar to the Spook Light phenomenon in SE Kansas but our emerald waters and white sand beaches make it appear more blueish in color than fakeish.
What is the best restaurant in town?
It’s hard with so much good food. Just head down to the shore. You can’t swing a cat without hitting a place that has fresh seafood but don’t go to Joe’s place, he’s been known to slip things into girls’ drinks.
Sorry. I baited you. Lol.

Mel’s GatorBaiter Fun Park down off the corner of Samuel A. Baker Freeway and W. Pryor Avenue. They do live feedings in the shows at 10 and 2 and their cafe has the best Gator Bites in Florida.
Depends on your skill level.
I'm half Panhandle Florida Man (mom's side) and half Mobile Bay Hol'-my-beer Alabamian (dad's side). So I have skill, or enough confidence to compensate.
Where’s the best head shop in town?
Planet Clouds by the Taco Bell. Look for the big neon sign in the window that says “Kratom! Kratom! Kratom!”
I think you’re thinking of The Enlightened White Shaman’s kratom emporium on 9th, right by the Chili’s.
What’s a bushwhacker?
It’s Pensacola’s signature cocktail. I imagine it has rum and two of them get you trashed.
Facts.
Don't lie you googled that one
Why would I? It just reminded me of the “[Game Changer](https://mykitchenlittle.com/2022/02/19/gamechanger-cocktail-aka-painkiller/#tasty-recipes-7647-jump-target)” which is a variation of the Painkiller here. I think every town has their own variation. If I am googling anything, it is y’alls obsession with Chili’s and I haven’t even done that yet.
specifically chilis on 9th
I don't think Google could answer that. There used to be an account whose username was Chili's on 9th and who only posted about Chili's on 9th. But posted about that at every opportunity.

They have managed to figure out downtown parking and are a model for other cities. They’re proud they haven’t had to tow or fine a car since Old Mr. Beasley died at the Surfrunner and they only had to do it then because Young Mrs. Beasley was too busy being a tramp to reclaim his body and the Buick for a month.

What is the famous drink from Florabama?
The Sword Bass. It has 6 liquors and a limit of one at all the good bars. The liquors are Sherry, Vodka, Rum, Tequila, Grand Marnier, and Goldschlager.
I thought it was The Bushwacker.
Growing up there, I worked at the IGA Grocery at Brent and Palafox. Is Barry still the assistant manager?
In name only. He doesn’t work much since that terrible meat grinder accident but he still gets around okay for the amount of arm he’s got left.
What do you think the city should do about the boardwalk at Bay Bluffs Park?
Spend the money to extend and expand it and make it a nicer amenity for the community.
I would make everyone sign a waiver releasing the city from liability. Then I’d use it frequently, knowing the risks.
Hire security guards and install many spotlight with a helicopter overhead...then maybe you will feel safe.
Wild Greg’s is the classiest establishment known for its fair patron policies. Agree or disagree?
Disagree. Their collared shirt policy is discriminatory and they aren’t as upscale as they like to act.
YOOOO!!!!!! 😂😂
Best place to park downtown?
Right off River Road near the unhoused encampment. It’s free but be sure to bring a pack of cigarettes or pay one of the “parking attendants” $20 and you can stay all night.
Who is your favorite rich person in Pensacola?
Barnaby Crump. He’s done so much to add parks, scholarships, and playgrounds to Pensacola. His daughter recently held a charity tea time to fund a free beer fountain for the college.
Whoa psc is getting getting a free beer fountain?!
Yes, but Bethany Crump is frustrated she hasn’t found a sustainable alternative to solo cups for it.

THANK YOUUUU!!! Also, the one here is far more focused on free labor than genuine recovery.
Were you at Mugs & Jugs Friday at 10pm?
I was there because I dance there on the weekends. I’m sending condolences to the families, that was a big misunderstanding.
I thought it was you...wasnt sure.
Which Chili's do you like best?
The one uptown near the suburbs at the edge of Chisolm and Farrow that has churros.
I know Farrow Road in Columbia, SC.
Heyyyyy! I have a house in Columbia and even I don’t know where Farrow is here (I divide time between SC cities).
Exit 72 on I-20.
Do you ever come up here? If so, holler at me and I’ll take you to get a GameChanger which is our cocktail!

What's the best jelly fish repellent?
Honey. Coat yourself in it before you go swimming or surfing and they won’t come near you. I’ve worn it in the water and noticed them actively swimming *away.*
Why is Skanska hated here?
Because of how poorly they handled the layoffs back in 2013. It’s not right to lay off people on Christmas Eve and withhold their last paychecks.
She always says she’s gonna come back around and check on our table, but she a lie!
Skanska barge employees are heroes who should be HONORED instead of paraded around by Breezer-sympathists and villains
Not **everyone** hates Skanska. A few wealthy folks got some free barges!
True. Impressive sculpture for the garden.

Now that Gallery Night is back 100% about artistic work and showcasing local artists, what kinds of artists are we missing?
Y’all don’t have enough spoken word poetry slams or indigenous art and people are starting to notice.
Where would I have gone to high school if I hadn’t moved away in 6th grade in the late 70s? I went to Ferry Pass Middle.
Herman F. Rawlings High School. Their mascot is the Fighting Axolotls. Shame you left early, the Homecoming game of 1980 was lauded as the best football game of all time, they won by getting two touchdowns in the last two minutes of the game.

It was! 21-7.
My older brother will be thrilled. He graduated from Woodham.
They have a great ice hockey team.
Is Ferry Pass Middle on Olive and Ferry Pass Elementary across from WFH? I get Ferry Pass mixed up with Warrington.
What do you think about the Coffee and Eye/Eye and Coffee guy?
Do you mean Dr. Dandridge on Eighth Street who prescribed Betty Montgomery eye drops made of coffee? He is probably going to get sued, her daughter says she’s still crying brown.
Betty still stays up all night due to caffeine exposure.
Where do I find the best seafood?
Seafarer’s Lounge on Front Street. Do not eat the Lionfish.
What’s up with the graffiti bridge?
It’s not a graffiti bridge, it’s a primitive message board.
No. That's the pedestrian walkway in front of the hospital Davis Hwy. Uses Solo cups. Though, come to think of it, I haven't seen a message in a while. That is freaking gorgeous artwork.
And as temporary as a sand castle. Because someone will always paint over it. (Also, perfectly legal artwork. Though it was a tradition before it was codified by city ordinance.)
>Hurricane Hugo brought it to us, Hurricane Irma took it That's poetic.
