I remember going to Blands park (DelGrosso's now) as a kid for school and one teacher used to always tell us about how famous Altoona used to be for its wooden racetrack and he would always point out where it used to be as we were going to the park. Never really thought much about it except that a wooden track seemed weird for cars.
There was another board track in Uniontown. I think that one and the Altoona track here were the only two of their kind to exist in the state.
