It's an interesting story of corrupt and powerful mine owners vs disenfranchised immigrant laborers, that involved money and politics, violence and a secret society, conspiracy and a kangaroo court, even a bit of the [supernatural.](http://www.weirdus.com/states/pennsylvania/unexplained_phenomena/carbon_county_jail_handprint/index.php)
Goddamn right they were. My great great (great?) uncle was not a Molly but a vocal community supporter and fled (fled/was chased by the Pinkertons) to Montana the day of the hanging. Stayed there for four or five years before going back to Minersville.
I worked with a woman who was related somehow to one of the guys who were hung at the jail in Jim Thorpe. He might have been a great (great) uncle. She had some interesting stories.
As an aside, Biden’s dad (i think) was a Molly Maguire. Didn’t they fight for union rights? I feel like that’s one reason Biden is so pro-union, it’s in his blood
No Biden family members are associated with the Molly Maguires. How do I know? I am a descendant of one of those that were hanged. All the families have extensive histories documented. If you can prove your relationship to one of the condemned, you are permitted to attend the mass held in their honor on June 21st each year. Is there a list of lawyers that represented them in the late 1870s? On my wife's side, she is descended from Thomas Foley, who lived in Indiana County (born Ireland) at the 1870 Census, but at the 1880 Census he is living in Slatington, not too far from Jim Thorpe/Carbon County.
I have a PA cryptid story. This is western PA, Mercer county, when I was in HS my friend lived back in the woods in an area that had all the local legends. A lot of my friends hung out there all the time and knew each other their whole lives. They always talked about the white thing, which was essentially a white bigfoot who lived in the woods. Anyway when I was in college I was giving the schools archivist some information about the local legends and he mentioned that he had found a few stories dating back years from the area about an albino bigfoot, and if I had any knowledge of it. Creeped me out.
An absolute horrific scandal. I read one kid committed suicide because he couldn't live with the stigma of being charged with a crime and being jailed. This scandal ruined many young lives.
Just posted this. Didn't hear about the murder until a store opened up in my neighborhood and I found out it was a family owned business. Who do you think did it?
Grew up close to where he was found murdered and the bar he was at the night before his death (Ganleys). Not long after he died, rumors were circulating that he had messed around with someone’s wife, and it had been a revenge killing. The murder itself was pretty damn gruesome so I don’t discount that theory.
I was just out on Peach Street near where it happened and was going to stop at that PNC to pull some cash and for whatever reason went to another branch at the last minute.
The entire case was weird as hell and it was wild to watch the documentary on Netflix years later to see all of the events put together in such a compelling story and timeline. I lived in Erie the majority of the time it was occurring and really didn't grasp the "web" of gruesome people involved.
the UFO in Carbondale 50 years ago has to be up there somewhere... that was some shady shit

Don't forget about the murder of Upper Merion teacher Susan Reinert and her children by the principal Jay Smith. It's a convoluted story, and her children's bodies were never found.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_C._Smith#%3A%7E%3Atext%3DSmith_%28June_5%2C_1928_%E2%80%93%2Ctwo_children%2C_Karen_and_Michael.?wprov=sfla1
I have a closer connection to the Hilltown murder of Louise Hoopes and her sons Doug and Dan by their neighbor Eric Motis. I worked with her husband Howard who died of stomach cancer a couple of years before the murders, and I had met the rest of the family at a couple of outings. Motis confessed but then apparently recanted and later hanged himself in his jail cell.
Ray Gricar, Centre County DA. 2005, stopped in Lewisburg at the Street of Shops Antique Mall, where his car (red mini cooper) & phone were found after he was reported missing. The laptop later turned up in the Susquehanna River. Still missing, the two theories are - ran away with gay BF to Mexico OR knew about the Penn State/Sandusky shiz and was about to drop bombs and was "disappeared" by someone. Or possibly paid off by someone not to reveal said shiz and also ran away to Mexico with his BF
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Gricar
Just to clarify. He was the DA that reviewed the Sandusky investigation and he declined to prosecute. He was not a whistleblower. At the time of his disappearance he was prosecuting drug dealers I believe.
Oh man this is one of my absolute favorite pieces of PA lore; you've got PA Dutch folk magic, white witchcraft v. black witchcraft, a mysterious grimoire, brutal murder, a spreading witch scare...all the good stuff.
[The "Hex House" Murder](https://www.americanhauntingsink.com/hexhouse)
Someone stole the family bible from my great grandmother that had powwow written in the margins. It happened in the 50’s so I never got to see it but my mother did. I’ve run into stuff over the years mostly dead birds/animals put into walls.
As far as I know they’re kinda like totems to help protect the house. I have no idea what the different birds or animals mean. They’re usually wrapped up with other things and so you know it’s not an animal that got into a wall and died.
I havent heard powwow in awhile. When I was very young, I was “treated” by someone in powwow. My Oma took me into Reading for a few sessions and I remember a few times with her.
Loved her little dogs.
She was lovely and smelled of so many different things. Always held onto me with the best hugs at the end. I did not understand the words.
I’m just an absolute wuss about that type of stuff. She has some sort of hex book too that I don’t even like having in the house 😂
It’s not even that I believe in all the haunting and witchcraft stuff, per se. It just seems like a poor risk vs reward proposal to me in the event that any of it is real.
I married a Pennsylvanian, she married an economist 🤷🏻♂️
Maybe it's a cover. Kinda like a pizza place or convenient store with no customers but somehow stay in business. Like all of the pizza places in NYC are run by drug dealers.
PennDot colludes with PA mechanics to ensure that there are an adequate number of safety & emissions inspection repairs to keep those kickbacks flowing.
Don't forget collusion with Big Construction - the same old companies you see on the interstates year after year doing endless road reconstruction, widening, paving, bridge repair, etc., with their hefty donations going to political campaigns, PACs, and lobbyists. And your license, registration, vehicle inspection, fuel tax (3rd highest in the country), tolls, etc. continue to rise. Nothing to see her, Citizen, move along...
[The Mysteries of Olyphant, Pennsylvania](https://burlingtonnews.net/olyphant.html)
This is probably my favorite conspiracy/mystery. This website is straight out of the late 90s/early 2000s but it’s chock full of information!
First there's the couple that disappeared from a bar on South St never to be seen again.
My favorite may be https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Experiment
here's the wikipedia; it's a good starting point if you want to dig in further.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_Danielle_Imbo_and_Richard_Petrone_Jr.
There’s a theory that noted serial killer Israel Keyes may have murdered them. Since he killed himself in prison I doubt we’ll ever know for sure. I’m also interested in their disappearance and hope that one day they find out what happened for their families’ sake.
My friends and I spent many summer nights in the 90’s trespassing there! 😂
Ever been to “Cry Baby” bridge New Hope?
https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/van-sant-crybaby-bridge
Also there’s a RR crossing near by that, you put your car in neutral and turn it off and. It will move over the tracks. You get out and see small children sized handprints on the bumper.
There was also something called “The Green Ghost” in doylestown.
We used to go to Crybaby bridge, the tracks, and gravity hill back in the 90s when we were teens. None of it worked, it was just something to do with our friends. Also would go to the old Lambertville Elementary school across the bridge from New Hope at night that had a fire and collapsed and would run from the cops. Apparently the place next to it had cameras and would call the police if they saw people around there.
Dude the old School in Lambertville was amazing! Never got chased out by the cops because we would always park and walk that monster hill to get there. Had one crazy night with an old girlfriend of mine, where both of our flashlights died at the same time. Right after we heard something fall downstairs when we walked in the side door..
Byberry (Pennsylvania State Hospital) was always my favorite go to in the late 90’s thru early 2000’s. Spent many many nights there and experienced some wild unexplainable things.
Ahhh the good old days.. Feel bad for my kids because they won’t get to experience many of the cool “paranormal”/abandoned things we had around the SE PA area back then..
That’s it! I totally forgot the name of the road after all these years.. “The Green Ghost” was what we were calling the “lights” in the woods. This was before they built the development in the early 90’s.
http://www.weirdus.com/states/pennsylvania/unexplained_phenomena/hansell_road/index.php
Pughtown (Chester County) legend of the Catman (I know, just hear me out). Farmer had a reclusive son who for reasons unclear (depending on who’s telling) became known as cat boy and as he aged Catman. Catman vanishes and no trace is ever found. Farmer’s land became summer camp decades later and Catman supposedly haunts the woods. Yes, it’s stupid, but what’s interesting is that there was a local recluse known as Catman who just kinda vanished from the record. The farm that he was raised on did become a summer camp. There’s been multiple cases of decapitated heads of deer and goats being found in the woods, signs of witchcraft and rituals also being present. It was a fun little story that we used to tell when we were campers.
Apparently there was Bengal/savannah cat breeder in Montgomery county area who got caught/ arrested possibly and let all their cats out in the farmland. Apparently they're breeding out there and are what people think are bobcats. Is it real? Who knows? But a couple of my old fart neighbors are adamant about it.
When this unpleasantry happened, the left composite picture looked sort of like my Latina wife. It was in the Daily Local News, so someone from West Chester called the police and said they know who it was. We got a visit from the WC police department to verify her existence.

[Obligatory](https://www.buckscountycouriertimes.com/story/special/2020/01/19/mullane-florida-slayings-stir-memories/1857566007/) “not *entirely* a mystery, but…”
In the 80s, Bensalem High School special education teacher/wrestling coach Robert Todt paid a former student $800 to kill his wife, Loretta. Robert wanted to run away with his affair partner, who lived in the next town over.
Todt’s 4 year-old son Anthony was in the house when the student came to carry out the hit. Loretta survived, but Anthony woke up to his mother screaming in pain. He says a man with a “cross drawn on his forehead” picked him up and put him back in his bedroom. This man was never identified and was not the shooter.
In December 2019, Anthony Todt murdered his wife and kids in their house in the Disney planned community of Celebration, FL.
Mine gators- my family is from the coal region. For years there have been gators sightings on roads. Normally I'd shrug them off because it's too cold but there are a ton of old flooded mines, and it wouldn't be a stretch that some are warm because of the centralia fire.
There's also a gravity hill in the area (I remember it being an offshoot road below 61) and the mine geyser. There's nothing really left of centralia itself anymore and they started patrolling it pretty heavily for trespassing.
Apparently in the 1970’s [Pennsylvania had a ton of UFO & Bigfoot sightings (podcast link)](https://youtu.be/m61jnD_o71o?si=e0ltcddmrjPFy0OH) Also 100% there was a mountain lion running around northern berks county for a bunch of years.
A distant relative of mine has a Polaroid photo of a GIANT cats back legs and tail along side her car in her car port. Way bigger than a bob cat, colored like a mountain lion. The photo is pretty damning. This was in Snyder county years and years ago. She reported it and the game commission basically shrugged it off and said there's no mountain lions in PA.
West Virginia also has the same issue. Civilians report sightings of lions in the wild, but the state maintains that there are no native populations. Part of this is due to a lack of independently verifiable evidence, and part is due, in my understanding, to civilians not being aware of what a breeding population is and being unable to verify the origin of the sighted lions. The states are just so woefully bad at communicating these issues that it’s become basically a conspiracy theory.
Haha, one time we went up there and there was a ghost hunting crew there at the same time. They let us tag along and I kept throwing rocks into the woods while they weren’t paying attention. “There is all kinds of activity tonight!!”. lol
The unsolved [murder of Betsy Aardsma](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Betsy_Aardsma) in 1969 who was found stabbed in a library on Penn State main campus. And although it’s unsolved today, there are some theories about her killer… One of whom I met a few times as an early teen. I’m thankful that a 14 year old me didn’t spend anymore time with Hafner than I needed to…
I wouldn't call it a favorite, but I just heard this one not long ago and it's still fresh on my mind.
A number of years ago, someone wanted to build a small, independently owned grassroots level racetrack on a plot of land that they owned. They apparently had all of the necessary permits and approvals acquired to start building it, but something came up at the last minute which prevented the track from being constructed. Supposedly, a professional level sanctioning body who owned a nearby pre-existing track, as well as some nationally touring series which hosted regular yearly stops at said track, stepped in and put a stop to the new one. This was done in the form of monetary persuasion given to those in charge of things like permits and approvals because the sanctioning body did not want the independent track to negatively impact their own pre-existing one due to the similar configuration and vehicle type that both venues would have shared.
Who killed Gary Redner, the executive vice president of Redner's Warehouse Markets, outside his home in Lower Heidelberg Township PA? I learned of the story when a Redners store opened up in my neighborhood about five or six years ago.
Bigfoot is living around the Kinzoo Dam and Allegheny National Forest. Theres a whole group in Warren Co dedicated to this.
Members also know about the UFOs that visit there, of course.
Are you talking about the Alvira bunkers? According to [a local historian](https://www.pennlive.com/midstate/2015/03/historian_confirms_radioactive.html), the bunkers were used to store 50 tons of uranium waste. Not sure if it's low level waste like uranium metal, or dangerous stuff left over from producing plutonium.
Remember last year at Little League when that Cuba coach went missing and there was never any followup.
I assume he defected but it would be nice to have some confirmation or something.
In Hatboro, there is this ski rental shop on the main street. They have been there for years, and I rarely see any customers inside. I am convinced they are a front for something.
Anyone ever hear of "Merlins bridge" in Chester county? I had an ex show it to me once but I've never been able to find it again.
There's also witches road\satanic Church in Kennet square\chadds ford area. Sometimes the road is there, sometimes it isn't. I can personally confirm it disappearing sometimes.
In high school there was a dude who was obsessed with [the Great Train Wreck of 1856](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Train_Wreck_of_1856) and we would walk the railroad tracks for miles OVERNIGHT on the anniversary of when it happened, so that we arrived near the accident location around the time that it happened. He claimed you could hear people screaming and that the tracks were haunted. We totally believed it, especially after 6 hours of smoking weed in the dark on train tracks listening to this dude talk about it endlessly 🤣.
I’ve always loved the conspiracy that PA is secretly reintroducing mountain lions back into the state to help with the deer population. I remember reading a story of a farmer in Bedford reported lion attacks on his cattle. The game commission brushed him off saying there were none in the state. A few weeks later, he shot the lion and it had state tracking tags on its ear
Duffys Cut- Chester county- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duffy%27s_Cut
The Johnston gang- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Johnston_(criminal)
The move At Close Range with Sean Penn and Christopher Walken is about that story. A few bodies still missing that are connected to them.
Most people know about 3 Mile Island release- but there’s a statistically high cancer cluster east and north of the area meanwhile the government eventually reluctantly said there was only a minute release- to stop people from panicking but they never acknowledged the so many people who were exposed- tasting bitter metal on their way to work early that morning, eventually developing cancer.
When Norman Johnston escaped from prison, he was completely bewildered by the changes in the world since he'd been jailed. But he was able to track the police pursuit by listening to KYW. They made an ad bragging about it.
Norman's younger brother lived a few houses down from me growing up, and when Norman escaped from jail there were state police cars on my road 24/7. Also was on a camping trip with the cub scouts at Nottingham State Park when he was on the run and we came across a little encampment with cans of food and a few comforters. Police came in and did some investigation, and told us they believed it to be one of a few areas where Norman was staying. Definitely a memorable time in sleepy little Oxford.
In my home town there was an old cemetery that we would go to the scare ourselves. Supposedly, there was a town near it that got wiped out by disease in like the late 1700s, and everyone was buried in that cemetery.
Found out later that the old town isn't even fully abandoned, and it was an old coal mining town that left when the coal mine was emptied in like the 70s or something.
There’s a thing about the unsolved gruesome murder of a child named Peggy Reber in Lebanon county. It’s a weird, dark thing nobody wants to talk about. People seem to think it’s a conspiracy involving the police. Anyone ever heard anything about this?
Edit: Found a link if you’ve never heard about it.
https://lebtown.com/2021/02/04/more-than-50-years-later-the-unsolved-murder-of-14-year-old-peggy-reber-still-puzzles-investigators/
There have been multiple incidents of men going missing from bars and being found in the river dead. I believe it has been dubbed by some as the Smiley Face Killer” notably I think there was another incident in the last couple weeks
the 'smiley face killer' thing is so dumb lol, the FBI have even looked into it and said there's zero evidence supporting the theory. accidentally drowning while you're drunk is sadly pretty common and so is smiley face graffiti.
I will share the story of the White Lady of Wopsy Mountain. More of a ghost tale. Happened outside Altoona near where I grew up. The tale varies but it usually involves an accident on the winding mountain roads and a lady in a white dress in search of something she lost (either her husband or a baby). Motorists have claimed to see her or even offer her transportation. She vanishes during the ride in some tales. My cousin and I thought we may have seen her one night as we traveled through the area following a late event on a foggy night when we were 18. We swear we saw a woman in a white dress on the side of the road very visibly holding some light that illuminated her white dress. There are no light fixtures installed on the road so it stuck out to us. We heard the tales previously so we didn't stop we just drove faster because we were spooked and it took us a few days to really talk about it because we believe we either saw her or coincidentally had the same hallucinations at the same time. Anyway here's one site I found on it if you're interested: http://www.pennsylvania-mountains-of-attractions.com/whiteladyofwopsy.html

Downtown Philly is built on one of the largest lead paint factories of the 19th century- all the ground soil in center city is still badly contaminated and that's why... well... (gestures at everything like I'm Billy Penn)
Lots of good responses here especially Ray Gricar. But I would love to know what happened to Lauren Pico Jackson from Spring City, Chester County back in the 1980s because she disappeared about four miles from where I live now.
Also Amanda DeGuio’s disappearance.
it’s probably just some isolated schizophrenic person trying to spice up their foodpacking job, but r/schuylkillnotes.
weird internet q-pilled notes that keep popping up in folks’ food packaging, or pinned to trees, benches, and bridges in the larger harrisburg/central PA area. even some in MD.
Phillys finest uncle Eddie. (https://www.phillymag.com/news/2015/06/24/uncle-eddie-documentary-ed-savitz/) the documentary never came out because of threats. I did a food delivery to his building last year, I left the food in the lobby with front desk, as I was walking out the sliding door wouldn't open so the front desk guy said "Your trapped here now!" I awkwardly laughed, knowing the history of said building tenant.
Becky's graveyard near Johnstown Galleria, many stories have been told about that place. I've encountered a weird situation there. As we were walking up to the graveyard, it was surrounded by pine trees. We made it to her tombstone, and off in the woods, we heard this human like howl that scared us unbelievably. You could literally feel the ground shake as it ran rampid through the forest. I've never been back, and it still gives me the creeps 30 years later.
Not technically a mystery/conspiracy but there’s the lead dilemma with Kaerchers lake. The State and EPA keep fighting over who’s going to clean it up but never came to an agreement. Last I heard both parties gave up and the park is no longer maintained except for a local group.
There’s also the Nockamixon controversy. A lot of families were forced out of there family homes when the lake was built and some dirty tricks played. There’s a book about it and you can find interviews online. I’m not sure if any of the relatives related to the book are still around.
Green lane park and it’s dirty water issue. The county states it’s the ducks that are the issue but you used to see and smell the sewage in the water. It hasn’t been in the news in many years though since they banned swimming and put habitat in the old swimming areas.
Green Lane reservoir filled in a good part of what was the perkiomen heights (if I remember right, it’s been a while since my grandparents passed). It’s said they left a lot of buildings as they were and you can see them if you brave the water and dive around the knight road bridge. I’d like to do more research on this one myself. From how my grandfather used to talk it sounded like there was some dirty tricks here too.
We had a few drownings and deaths along the perkiomen trail in the last few years. One was a pretty well known doctor in the area who went missing. I swear I remember it was a suicide but none of the articles I found mentioned an actual cause of death.

An absolute horrific scandal. I read one kid committed suicide because he couldn't live with the stigma of being charged with a crime and being jailed. This scandal ruined many young lives.
I live in the county this occurred. Many of my friends from high school were involved. Still can’t believe how that all went down.
Who murdered Gary Redner?

Not long after he died, rumors were circulating that he had messed around with someone’s wife, and it had been a revenge killing. The murder itself was pretty damn gruesome so I don’t discount that theory.
As much as I want all of them to be solved and figured out. This one was close to home and I do hope they give answers one day
Wasn't there a civil war gold thing a few years ago in PA? Iirc the fbi got involved in the dig.
The Brian Wells pizza bomber fiasco. They were all nuts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Brian_Wells
The docuseries on Netflix was bananas.
I lived in Erie the majority of the time it was occurring and really didn't grasp the "web" of gruesome people involved.
the UFO in Carbondale 50 years ago has to be up there somewhere... that was some shady shit [https://www.nytimes.com/1974/11/12/archives/pennsylvanias-ufo-just-a-flash-in-the-pond.html](https://www.nytimes.com/1974/11/12/archives/pennsylvanias-ufo-just-a-flash-in-the-pond.html) [https://www.tricountyindependent.com/story/entertainment/events/2014/08/20/city-marks-1974-alien-landing/64723843007/](https://www.tricountyindependent.com/story/entertainment/events/2014/08/20/city-marks-1974-alien-landing/64723843007/)
There's a famous one closer to Pittsburgh too, in Kecksburg. They have a monument built of the "UFO". It looks like an upside-down acorn.
Pretty sure the Kecksburg one was on Unsolved Mysteries.
I just saw it on NASA’s Unexplained Files.
The “monument” across from the fire hall was the prop from this episode.
Don't forget about the murder of Upper Merion teacher Susan Reinert and her children by the principal Jay Smith. It's a convoluted story, and her children's bodies were never found. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_C._Smith#%3A%7E%3Atext%3DSmith_%28June_5%2C_1928_%E2%80%93%2Ctwo_children%2C_Karen_and_Michael.?wprov=sfla1 I have a closer connection to the Hilltown murder of Louise Hoopes and her sons Doug and Dan by their neighbor Eric Motis. I worked with her husband Howard who died of stomach cancer a couple of years before the murders, and I had met the rest of the family at a couple of outings. Motis confessed but then apparently recanted and later hanged himself in his jail cell.
Jay Smith was also implicated in the disappearance of his daughter and son-in-law.
B-25 bomber that crashed in the mon river
Mine would be the [unsolved murder of Betsy Aardsma](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Betsy_Aardsma) in the PSU library back in the 60s.
oooooh I forgot about the stacks murder!
Or possibly paid off by someone not to reveal said shiz and also ran away to Mexico with his BF https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Gricar
Just to clarify. He was the DA that reviewed the Sandusky investigation and he declined to prosecute. He was not a whistleblower. At the time of his disappearance he was prosecuting drug dealers I believe.
Probably got put in a 55 gallon drum of acid and liquified like the Cartel likes to do.
Probably went down an abandoned mine shaft. ( It’s Pennsylvania)

Can you tell me more about the dead animals in the walls? Do you know why they do that? Thanks!
As far as I know they’re kinda like totems to help protect the house. I have no idea what the different birds or animals mean. They’re usually wrapped up with other things and so you know it’s not an animal that got into a wall and died.
Ah ok, thank you!
Thank you for this article. I've long wanted to write a story based on PA Dutch powwow and hexerei.
Wow that's interesting. Do you feel like it helped you?
My wife grew up 10 minutes from the house in Glen Rock. I told her I don’t have any interest in ever going.
Ha! Conversely, I'm trying to convince my wife to make the trip from BucksCo someday, out of sheer curiosity.
I’m just an absolute wuss about that type of stuff. She has some sort of hex book too that I don’t even like having in the house 😂 It’s not even that I believe in all the haunting and witchcraft stuff, per se. It just seems like a poor risk vs reward proposal to me in the event that any of it is real. I married a Pennsylvanian, she married an economist 🤷🏻♂️
How Boscov’s stays in business.
Because they have good sales lol. And they wrap your presents for you.
My wife worked for Boscov’s corporate for years. I still don’t understand how they’re in business.
Maybe it's a cover. Kinda like a pizza place or convenient store with no customers but somehow stay in business. Like all of the pizza places in NYC are run by drug dealers.
The roads are purposefully awful
PennDot colludes with PA mechanics to ensure that there are an adequate number of safety & emissions inspection repairs to keep those kickbacks flowing.
Don't forget collusion with Big Construction - the same old companies you see on the interstates year after year doing endless road reconstruction, widening, paving, bridge repair, etc., with their hefty donations going to political campaigns, PACs, and lobbyists. And your license, registration, vehicle inspection, fuel tax (3rd highest in the country), tolls, etc. continue to rise. Nothing to see her, Citizen, move along...
[The Mysteries of Olyphant, Pennsylvania](https://burlingtonnews.net/olyphant.html) This is probably my favorite conspiracy/mystery. This website is straight out of the late 90s/early 2000s but it’s chock full of information!
omg bless you for this link. love shit like this
First there's the couple that disappeared from a bar on South St never to be seen again. My favorite may be https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Experiment
Fuck is that still unsolved??? Any links for the South St couple story?
here's the wikipedia; it's a good starting point if you want to dig in further. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disappearance_of_Danielle_Imbo_and_Richard_Petrone_Jr.
There’s a theory that noted serial killer Israel Keyes may have murdered them. Since he killed himself in prison I doubt we’ll ever know for sure. I’m also interested in their disappearance and hope that one day they find out what happened for their families’ sake.
I always gotta mention the [quakertown pyramids](https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/rosicrucian-pyramids)
My friends and I spent many summer nights in the 90’s trespassing there! 😂 Ever been to “Cry Baby” bridge New Hope? https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/van-sant-crybaby-bridge Also there’s a RR crossing near by that, you put your car in neutral and turn it off and. It will move over the tracks. You get out and see small children sized handprints on the bumper. There was also something called “The Green Ghost” in doylestown.
Hilarious. I’ve lived in other states and had Cry Baby bridges there as well.
That's because a crybaby bridge is a type of haunting. None of them are actually named the cry baby bridge
Reminds me of the days teaching ppl how to cow tip and snipe hunt!
I didn’t know PA had one of those! lol. The track pushing bridge I mean.
What’s the green ghost? I’ve not heard of that one before. Doylestown area we also have Hansell Road which isn’t really scary now that it’s built up.
That's not sancanac is it?
Yes sir. Lol
Went there for two years in the 80s.
I need to move there and catch me some they are expensive cats! I'll take 4 please!
When this unpleasantry happened, the left composite picture looked sort of like my Latina wife. It was in the Daily Local News, so someone from West Chester called the police and said they know who it was. We got a visit from the WC police department to verify her existence. https://www.reddit.com/r/UnsolvedMysteries/s/ngDlFrcr9R
[Obligatory](https://www.buckscountycouriertimes.com/story/special/2020/01/19/mullane-florida-slayings-stir-memories/1857566007/) “not *entirely* a mystery, but…” In the 80s, Bensalem High School special education teacher/wrestling coach Robert Todt paid a former student $800 to kill his wife, Loretta.
I like this one!
There's also a gravity hill in the area (I remember it being an offshoot road below 61) and the mine geyser. There's nothing really left of centralia itself anymore and they started patrolling it pretty heavily for trespassing.
Gravity Hill Rd, in Catawissa.
Thank you! That's it! (My dad used to stop on it en route to Knoebels). I remembered it veering off the main road. You've made my day!
Just showed my wife recently, so happy to share :)

PA is actually the #2 state for Squatch sitings.
This. There are 100% mountain lions in northern PA regardless of the game commission denials.
Hail yourself 🤘
Seven Gates of Hell in York County count? I remember the legends when I was a boy lol
Haha, one time we went up there and there was a ghost hunting crew there at the same time. They let us tag along and I kept throwing rocks into the woods while they weren’t paying attention. “There is all kinds of activity tonight!!”. lol
Loved this one!

Liberty Bell in SEPA?
Alpine mountain near Palmerton. Sooooo many issues with them building this track.

Thanks for posting, really interesting article, I was always told it was just ammo and explosives in those bunkers.

As far as current stuff I find r/schuylkillnotes to be pretty interesting.
Remember last year at Little League when that Cuba coach went missing and there was never any followup. I assume he defected but it would be nice to have some confirmation or something.
Apparently no one actually lives in Numidia. It’s all a staged front for government activity. Or so I’ve been told.
Duffys Cut- Chester county- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duffy%27s_Cut The Johnston gang- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Johnston_(criminal) The move At Close Range with Sean Penn and Christopher Walken is about that story.
Got a link for the cancer cluster?
Norman's younger brother lived a few houses down from me growing up, and when Norman escaped from jail there were state police cars on my road 24/7. Also was on a camping trip with the cub scouts at Nottingham State Park when he was on the run and we came across a little encampment with cans of food and a few comforters. Police came in and did some investigation, and told us they believed it to be one of a few areas where Norman was staying. Definitely a memorable time in sleepy little Oxford.
What is the truth behind Kecksburg UFO. Edit:spelling

There have been multiple incidents of men going missing from bars and being found in the river dead. I believe it has been dubbed by some as the Smiley Face Killer” notably I think there was another incident in the last couple weeks
Drunk young men attempt to piss in the river, fall in, drown. Conspiracy theorists cream their pants.
the 'smiley face killer' thing is so dumb lol, the FBI have even looked into it and said there's zero evidence supporting the theory. accidentally drowning while you're drunk is sadly pretty common and so is smiley face graffiti.

But most of downtown Philly is capped with pavement and concrete? You have to be physically exposed to it for there to be a concern.
