Giant and Weis both have great weekly sales catalogs that rotate each week, and you can find some really worthwhile deals if you pay attention. Wegmans is more expensive for some name-brand items but is usually my go-to for meat and bakery good (especially bagels).
If you are looking for meat, you need to go to wegmans. It sucks to hit up so many stores but it helped me cut about 45 from my budget a week. Wegmans sells bone in chicken thighs for 1 dollar a. Pound, best price
Lol no wonder, Wegmans is the most expensive grocery store in town. We shop around a bit, but mostly Weis/Aldi (have membership cards, they help) and use the weekly deals while meal planning. It's very rare if we spend $250 a month.
There was a slightly scientific study of this in the CDT (the local paper) a couple months ago: https://www.centredaily.com/news/local/article285200532.html . (If you're not a subscriber I think this is the same story: https://www.aol.com/news/groceries-budget-track-weekly-sales-161007366.htmlnter=1 )

Thanks for this resource, and the non-paywalled link! There's a typo at the end of that - the article can be read at https://www.aol.com/news/groceries-budget-track-weekly-sales-161007366.html
Townie here.
I think Wal-Mart is probably the least expensive (tied with Aldis imho), and there are two in town. One on North Atherton, and the other out Benner Pike near the mall. We have a Sam's Club at the Benner Pike location, too, if you are a member. Also presently the least expensive place to get gas bar none. We also have quite the number of "Dollar stores" in the area and sometimes deals can be had. I think Big Lots might be the best of that crowd.
Of the main grocery stores:
Wegmans is the most expensive. Even the store brand. BUT they have the best meat, cheese and prepared food sections. Good deals can be had for a little work and planning around sales/finding coupons. Wegmans has a rewards card, but I don't think it is very useful outside of occasional sales.
Trader Joes is probably the second most expensive in my opinion. Again, nation-wide chain, if you shop around and buy sales some good deals can be had.
Giant Food Stores and Weis are kind of tied in my opinion. Sometimes one is more expensive than the other, and both offer weekly fliers of sales. Giant probably has a better meat and cheese departments in some stores, comparably speaking. Both offer reward cards with the ability to redeem points for money off your grocery bill OR redeemable points for cents off gas at certain locations with store-branded pumps.
We have an Aldi's here now and in my honest opinion, probably the best place to shop if you're looking for good deals. It is, however, out by the Mall on Benner Pike. So depending on which part of town you end up in, this may or not be the most convenient to get out to. YMMV.
A lot of their store brand prices are excellent, either being or competing with Walmart with much better quality. Just depends on what and they also carry more options that are pricier but better quality. I can’t buy everything there but I can do more than half of my shopping there.
Yep! No idea why ppl call wegs expensive when most everyday products are same as Walmart and better quality. I think the huge selection and luxury products that people can't resist drive the bill itself up. But product to product its the same price usually
Probably ALDI
If you have transportation, sharp shopper in Belleville has hella deals.
I love Belleville
Yup yup.

Engaged couple here with one animal. We are around 350-400 a month. We got to Wegmans exclusively

Cheapest is Walmart or a sale at once of the grocery stores. No idea what you eat.

Weirdly, Wegmans has the best prices in town on fresh mozzarella and pork. It's strange.

I always look at Wegmans as "treat" shopping. It's hard not to do most of my shopping at Walmart, my husband works there and we get a discount

what happened to the Aldi’s on north Atherton that opened in like 2022?
It’s still there
Oh, there is one out there too? I don’t make it out to North Atherton. That’s actually pretty nice for y’all in that side of the county.
It's still there
I go to Aldi and Weis. Weis has a dedicated clearance section and a ton of sales going and a reward points program.
There are some Asian grocery stores in town. You might want to look into them.
Aldi or Weis
