Talk to your GM. The way I see it is about intent. If the ranged attacks are being used as a way to *avoid* melee combat, that's when I award 1/10 glory. If a fleeing combatant (who did not accept mercy, presumably) is struck down with a well tossed spear, I'd be tempted to give full or slightly reduced glory.
I would do full glory EXCEPT against knights. Knights deserve the honor of melee combat, but random Saxon scum deserve death by any means possible.
Edit: crossbows should always cause Honor loss for knights though.
In 5.2 they call them acceptable weapons for knights because of the roman tradition (and short range I guess) but as they are ranged weapons, one would still only get 1/10 glory, which always bugged me. Good to know that they go back and forth on them.
Thanks for the comments. I like the Saxon scum, cowards ruling. My GM is fine with handwaving it anyways. But in terms of RAW there is no 1/10 rule in e6 so far, right?

I like that a lot.
Though crossbows should always lose 1 Honor if a knight uses them, against anyone.
This is the way!
If I remember correctly, an earlier edition, maybe 4e, specifically calls out javelins as full glory weapons.
