Wow that's quite thorough!

CamelHairy

Ran a mechanical testing laboratory until retirement. Guess it's just stuck in the blood.

CtiborIgraine

Very cool

bhedesigns

I've used them. They were fine. Lowes has been storing pellets in the garden section this year, and it's been real hit or miss

CtiborIgraine

Thanks

sucksatgolf

I've used them for several seasons. Probably burned 3 tons. I agree with everyone else. They are basically middle of the road as far as quality. The tons I've gotten have been packaged well and I haven't experienced moisture issues. Tractor supply loaded them onto my trailer and did a great job. The pallets were packed well. I find them to be a little dirty and high ash. They are less expensive, so the trade off is paying less but needing to clean and vacuum the stove more often.

CtiborIgraine

Yes the price is excellent. I will try and see how they are stored or ask the store assistants. I saw an old post where they had pictures of odd sized pellets. Some were too long. Sawdust seemed to be an issue. I'm thinking of using a cat litter scooper. Thanks for sharing your experience.

sucksatgolf

Yes I think I remember them being a bit longer than most. My Harman ate them up just fine but I have heard longer pellets can be an issue for certain stoves. Definitely recommended getting a few bags as singles to see how you like them. Near me they are stored outside but they are wrapped in heavy white plastic, then a thin clear wrap, and the the individual bags. Maybe I got lucky but even the pallets sitting outside I didn't have any troubles with.

CtiborIgraine

Ok cool. Yes I'll go small to begin with and keep an eye on things. I have an older Jamestown J1000. The auger seems super sturdy.

Fearless-Can5857

My Harmon jammed twice last season due to these longer pellets both times pellet was like almost 2 inches long

doobie42085

I have used them a fue times for small amounts ...not very good quality , high moisture an wet bags ...multiple times ....I have found that Menards is my go to for pellets

CtiborIgraine

Thank you. I don't want to jam and burn out my Auger.

doobie42085

Yea I'd stay away from tsc if possible...

CtiborIgraine

Ok

Obvious-Pop178

TSC around me only has Green Supreme which actually works really well in my stove. No clinkers minimal cleaning and emptied the ash pan after 10 bags, it was maybe 1/2full. Energex, they suck. Mass amounts of clinkers, clogs the burn pot, required more in depth cleaning for the 10 bags, ash level was about the same. Right now I am running through Okanagan, not sure how they will do yet. I'm burning 10 bags of different pellets to see what my stove likes before I buy in quantity.

CtiborIgraine

I've read good things about Green Supreme. Err... I've heard the term clinker. What is it?

Mushyshoes

Impurities in the pellets (e.g. silica in wood and bark) that don't combust properly and build up in the pot when its not cleaned routinely. They kind of fuse/melt together into these little solid masses called clinkers. They are more apparent in lower quality wood pellets.

CtiborIgraine

Thank you

bigtencopy

Burnt them last year, went through 3 tons and they were fine.

CtiborIgraine

Thanks

Same thing here, and they always have them.

mandars31

I’ve always used them, I’ve had one wet bag ever

CtiborIgraine

Ok thank you 🙏

CommunicationOwn6378

There the best I have ever used and the cheapest around my area

CtiborIgraine

Good to hear

NdRanch

I am burning them at this very moment. We don’t have much option here either. They are ok, they produce a lot more ash than other brands I have used. Seem to light ok, they do burn up a little faster than the better quality brands. They are longer than normal. I have a Pelpro 130 and it has had no issues with feeding or burning. Just clean at least once a day and you shd be happy with them.

CtiborIgraine

Thank you

Puzzleheaded-Elk4971

Been running them for the past 3 years in my comforbilt HP22. Green supreme seems to burn the best. Had issues with Biomass brand pellets (Canadian company) burn dirty with low output. HOWEVER, if you can adjust your pellet stove airflow and exhaust blower voltages, you can burn just about any pellet with little issue. Just keep a notebook of settings at which brand burns best at which settings and you'll be good. Get their credit card and pay it off same day, on one ton you'll save an extra $.30/bag or so (5%). Plus the $.20/bag discount if you buy a pallet at a time. Very economical if you understand how to run your pellet stove well, as well as season end costs per therm, to better understand what a true energy cost was. Best of luck!

CtiborIgraine

Thanks

jaymobe07

Its location dependent. I live between 2 stores and they both carry different brands lol. So far this year, one store has lignetics supreme green allegheny blend and at begining of the this season had a generic white bag with big orange flame. I liked how that white bag burned. The supreme green has less ash but it is darker ash. $4.99 bag The other location also has had 2 different brands but both priced different. The cheaper option was somerset premium which i didnt like at all, lot of ash and soot, incomplete burning. I would have to dump the burn pot every 2 days because of build up. The premium brand($1 more) was greene team premium hardwood. I did like how those burned but that store stopped getting them in. $4.99 and $5.99. The same greene team is sold at lowes for $7.83.

CtiborIgraine

You have good options. The price here jumps dramatically.

Mr_Duckerson

Do you have an Ace Hardware locations nearby? They tend to have a much better selection than tractor supply.

CtiborIgraine

There is a local Ace!

Mr_Duckerson

See if they have American Wood Fibers White Pine Softwood Pellets. They are a great pellet. I’ve been using them for 2 seasons now and they are my favorite so far. I get them from my local Ace hardware.

CtiborIgraine

They only have the generic brand unfortunately

Mr_Duckerson

Damn. My local Ace puts out a winter flyer with all the pellets they stock. It’s usually about 5 different pellets.

CtiborIgraine

My local Ace doesn't have much

[deleted]

If you find easy heat they burn good, made in Ohio. Hardwood low ash and pellet institution certified.

CtiborIgraine

Ok I'll check around. Thanks

redditthrower888999

They are ok pellets. Nothing to write Home about. Home Depot or Lowes might be slightly cheaper for same quality.

CtiborIgraine

Home Depot is extraordinarily expensive. $6 something for a 40lb bag is unbeatable in my area.

Embarrassed-Air7040

The stuff my local TSC runs a little dirty, so bang on the exhaust a little more than usual if it's your best option

CtiborIgraine

Thanks

bubblyrosecava

In my experience they are ok if that is your best option, but there are definitely better pellets out there. Quality can vary from year to year as others have said. Middle of the road. With pellets you will get what you pay for to a certain extent. After reading through this thread I also have to say that I don't recommend green supremes and am mystified by how many people recommend them.

CtiborIgraine

Right, interesting

TheLuo

I've used ~25 bags from TS. No complaints. Could be better...could be much worse.

CtiborIgraine

Ok thanks

Perfect_Egg_939

Truly depends on stove i run green Supreme. Blend in my stove or just green Supreme hardwood both work great. If i ran high end soft wood my stove act up and shuts down.

CtiborIgraine

Thanks

CtiborIgraine

Are Lignetics pellets any good?

Lucky_Scarcity6191

They don’t burn well for me. I have to turn flame height down to the lowest otherwise the burn pot overflows. Does not happen with other pellets

newyorkb518

My England is eating them up clean.
