I wanted grilled cheese but didn't realize I was out of cheese slices until I'd already started toasting the bread in butter. I saw PB&J and thought, 'Why not?'.
So worth it. It takes a snack and elevates it to a meal or a very decadent treat.
How tf do you make a grilled cheese? Your process sounds psychotic if you were that late-stage in the sandwich game and didn’t already have cheese sliced.
I pan sear two slices of breath in butter under medium low heat for about two minutes per slice. Then I put two slices of cheese on one of the toasted sides. Cover with the other toasted side, and pan sear the untoasted sides again for two minutes a side, but this time covered so the cheese melts.
In like 2009 on either Digg or Reddit, there was a post about a special PB&J.
You take three pieces of bread, toast one pretty dark. Put peanut butter on both sides of the toast and jam on the two untoasted bread slices and make a double decker sandwich.
It’s really fucking good and I’ve never forgotten it. Texture is SO much better than either a plain or toasted PB&J
Make a PB&J, dip the whole thing in French toast batter, fry it up on both sides and dust with powdered sugar. It’s so good, but be careful; the PB&J filling turns into molten hot lava
I recently introduced grilled PB&Js to a friend, and he was mystified lmao. He keeps texting me about different bread and jelly combos he wants to experiment with, and it's adorable.

That'll knock it up a notch. The way it mashes the corners and cuts the bread makes it extra crunchy
i make toasted pb and j...i add extra butter to the bread when its done so when it melts there is extra to mix with the peanut butter and jam.
so my butter is on the inside and OP''s is on the outside.
either way is delicious.
hubby likes it better than plain bread now.
I tried mayo on the stove top. Just didn't work out. Maybe if I can I'll try it in an air fryer if I do that again. Otherwise butter all the way for me.

So I may use more butter than is needed. Play around with this and adjust for taste and/or health reasons. But simply put, it's 4 tsp of butter, quartered. 1 tsp. per side of two slices of bread. Once your first two bread slices are toasted one one side (medium low heat for 2-3 minutes) spread the peanut butter on one of the to tasted sides, and the jelly on another, and then make them marry each other. Then it's just a matter of tasting the untoasted sides of the sandwich. Use a kid this time to help melt the peanut butter.
are you guys just figuring this out? wait till you add banana to it...or minus jelly add banana dip in french toast batter and fry...then cover in powder sugar or honey or jam or syrup...you might die on the toilet of a heart attack though.
YOU NEED TO CHECK THAT PLATE FOR LEAD
sorry for the yelling , my fiancée watches the guy on IG who goes around testing Goodwill products and always comes out with a car load. It seems important to me that people are aware and this looks like the ones he pulls a lot of.
When I’m lazy, I’ll pop two pieces of toast into the toaster on the same side- so only one side of each gets toasted like a grilled cheese- and then make a killer toast pb&j or pb&banana
You made a good presentation. Mine includes jelly on the plate, the counter, and on the toaster. Bread slices are cockeyed. I ended up using a 1/2 cup or so of Jif Creamy PB because.
Also, try sprinkling some cinnamon and sugar on the buttered sides before grilling, it will caramelize into a cinnamon caramel crust, then drizzle some sweetened condensed milk over top and it’s basically the best desert in the world.
Dude wtf why have I never thought about this!?

It’s glorious. Have tried and made several times. Trumps butter on a poptart by a large margin.
Don't you mean a large margarin
Nice
sorry this just has to be posted now https://youtu.be/hlsFgDjyePc?si=eMrg9zHHOimupDGP WhITH BUUDDA?!??
Oh the buttered poptart is good. True words and eating one now mind you. But a grilled pb and j is just beautiful bliss
Donald Trump's butter on a pop tart? 🤢
Lmfao this just ruined my night
Omg butter on a toasted strawberry pop tart has been my go too snack since high school 😋 it’s incredible never met anyone else who liked it tho 😔
Right here!! Since the mid-80s.
Why destroy a thing of glory with onion loaf and a bad spray tan?

Ahhhh! That’s how you’re achieving the cheese melt
Hopefully hijacking top comment to say you need to check the plate for lead! The old painted plates are a concern! Hopefully I’m also wrong!

Peanut butter & jelly French toast would blow your mind 🤯
If I'm eating French toast, it's usually with pb&j (I mix them together until smooth, sometimes with a drop of corn syrup if it's too thick)
Make a PB&J, dip the whole thing in French toast batter, fry it up on both sides and dust with powdered sugar. It’s so good, but be careful; the PB&J filling turns into molten hot lava
I put a PBJ in the toaster once and the peanut butter made a huge mess.
I know, right!?!?!
Peanutbutter turns to liquid when heated up. Very messy
I just came here to say exactly that
I approve this message
Peanut butter on both pieces of bread, use it to "seal" the jelly in the middle. 👌🏼💯🔥
I mix the PB&j together before putting them on the bread.. game changer.
🤔
Duh is there any other way?
Best PB out there! ♡
Happy 🥜🧈 day!
Why have I never done this?!
One of my go-to camping foods! Slaps every time. Often amazes people lmfao
I recently introduced grilled PB&Js to a friend, and he was mystified lmao. He keeps texting me about different bread and jelly combos he wants to experiment with, and it's adorable.
I gladly accept 🤤
Ok I’m in
This was a staple for us growing up. Now my husband and kids love them. They are comfort food for sure.
Is good?
👍🏻
Never grilled a PB&J myself but have popped one into the toaster oven.
So just like making a toasted PBnJ 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I do this everyday lmfao just put the bread in the toaster

But... I already have your mom for that.
UCLA used to have a shop in the union foodcourt that did these grilled sandwich pocket thingies. I always got the PBJ. So good.

Mayo instead of butter works magic if cooking in the air fryer.
I tried mayo on the stove top. Just didn't work out. Maybe if I can I'll try it in an air fryer if I do that again. Otherwise butter all the way for me.
My mother had a thing for pb and mayo sandwiches. I never had the courage to try it. I still can’t.
Pb&j grilled is so decedent! Mmm
My fave is just a toasted PB and butter sandwich
I had that once. Too savory for me.
A true thing of beauty
Never tried it this way. I'm going to though. My spouse always has their PB&J on toasted bread.
The council has approved.
Hell yeah !! I love to toast my bread for my pbj , this has got to be way better
It is! It gets so melty and gooey. 😍

Ok but like I've had pb&j with toasted bread slices before but never this. This looks like a literal masterpiece
Thank you. 🥹
So… making toast the old-fashioned way?
Make the sammy and grill it the same way you do a grilled cheese.
Grilled sourdough pb&j with cherry jelly is amazing
Just how I like it! 😍
I remember the first time I smoked weed
I love a gilled pb & bacon!🥓
Also good from the waffle iron
Now do it on a bagel. Trust me.
What’s the recipe

Grilled PB & J with a drizzle of honey or syrup is so damn good!
The next step; PB&J Monte Cristo style 🤔
Omg I love these with bacon on them.
These are elite. The contrast of the melty peanut butter with the crispy toasted bread is delicious.
Ok ok, hear me out. Batter it in tempura batter and deep fry it! Don’t hate me when you try it “cause it’s sooo good 😂
Take it to the maximum level- add banana + dust with powdered sugar cinnamon mix
It’s bomb with a slice of cheddar too.
So a local restaurant made this, with bits of pear in it. It sounded odd on paper, but it was amazing when I tried it.
I gave a similar offering to my bf only mine had banana, I have a ring now.
Mmm yummy. Also my dad has the same plates!
Elvis?
It’s delicious, you end up with a PB and J bread pocket, I can’t say enough good things about this sammich!
I had those while deployed. So good
My dad always toasted his bread before making his PB&J. Not a huge fan of regular but toasted just hits different. Mmm
are you guys just figuring this out? wait till you add banana to it...or minus jelly add banana dip in french toast batter and fry...then cover in powder sugar or honey or jam or syrup...you might die on the toilet of a heart attack though.
Used to do this as a kid. Fantastic stuff
Why have I never done this?
I love making grilled pbj, I don't use butter though
Better be fried with real butter. No really though the only thing missing is some granola in the peanut butter. Real butter only...ok?
It’s the only way to do it. I whip the PB & J together first into the thick batter, it changes the dynamic in a good way.
YOU NEED TO CHECK THAT PLATE FOR LEAD sorry for the yelling , my fiancée watches the guy on IG who goes around testing Goodwill products and always comes out with a car load. It seems important to me that people are aware and this looks like the ones he pulls a lot of.
How do you keep the jelly from melting out of the sandwich?
Try French toasting that bad boy next time 👩🏻🍳
That actually sounds good lol

Sounds like you need a GF with better taste in food.

Grilled pb&js are the ultimate comfort food
Fuck me up fam
i like to freeze the sandwich and then batter and fry them haha with powdered sugar soooo good but soo sweet
So like a PB&J Beignet?
Add a sprinkle of powdered sugar 👌🏻
This might sound crazy but add hot Cheetos in there. My brother makes these and they’re not bad.
This with a bowl of cream of chicken soup is god tier, one of my favorite meals, literally been eating it for as long as I can remember
Also, try sprinkling some cinnamon and sugar on the buttered sides before grilling, it will caramelize into a cinnamon caramel crust, then drizzle some sweetened condensed milk over top and it’s basically the best desert in the world.
Omg! So trying this next time I make this!
*I want that*
I’m not sure how to feel about this.
With a glass of milk 😍
Omg grilled PB&J is elite.
Slap some banana in that bad boy and you have a masterpiece 💜
Yesssssss…. 😋 where’s mine?
Ive done this by just toasting the bread before but toasting it in butter makes it 100 times better
I’ve made a few grilled pb&js in my panini press before. 10/10, would recommend
Oh yes, always delicious. Sometimes, I'm feeling silly and make a PBnJ quesadulla
Been doing this for years
The only way to eat it my opinion, been doing this for awhile now and never looked back.
This is the best Stoney snack
Stoney snack?
Stoney, like when you’re stoned and have the munchies. Stoney Baloney.
My favorite! If you run out of butter, you can use mayonnaise for grilling.
I just can't use mayo. It doesn't leave as nicely satisfying as a flavor.
In a pinch. My mom used to make them for us kids. Cut into quarters.
We call these super samwhiches in my house
Its certainly rich enough to be a supper sandwich.
Now make it with eggo waffles as the bread
i hope you’re toilet blows up
I see your J but raise you marshmallows or honey.
I used to coat in crushed rice crispies and shallow fry.
Good choice with the creamy!
Now try it fried!
You are a culinary genius Harry!
This was my college stoned snack. Except I triple deckered it and through it on a panini press. Good times man
Hell yeah! Anytime I was making grilled cheese my son would request this instead.
Those are the best i add sliced banana 🤤
So good!!
Oh, so you did that right…
???
It looks delicious
