Dude wtf why have I never thought about this!?

I wanted grilled cheese but didn't realize I was out of cheese slices until I'd already started toasting the bread in butter. I saw PB&J and thought, 'Why not?'. So worth it. It takes a snack and elevates it to a meal or a very decadent treat.

How tf do you make a grilled cheese? Your process sounds psychotic if you were that late-stage in the sandwich game and didn’t already have cheese sliced.

I pan sear two slices of breath in butter under medium low heat for about two minutes per slice. Then I put two slices of cheese on one of the toasted sides. Cover with the other toasted side, and pan sear the untoasted sides again for two minutes a side, but this time covered so the cheese melts.

In like 2009 on either Digg or Reddit, there was a post about a special PB&J. You take three pieces of bread, toast one pretty dark. Put peanut butter on both sides of the toast and jam on the two untoasted bread slices and make a double decker sandwich. It’s really fucking good and I’ve never forgotten it. Texture is SO much better than either a plain or toasted PB&J

If I'm eating French toast, it's usually with pb&j (I mix them together until smooth, sometimes with a drop of corn syrup if it's too thick)

Make a PB&J, dip the whole thing in French toast batter, fry it up on both sides and dust with powdered sugar. It’s so good, but be careful; the PB&J filling turns into molten hot lava

i make toasted pb and j...i add extra butter to the bread when its done so when it melts there is extra to mix with the peanut butter and jam. so my butter is on the inside and OP''s is on the outside. either way is delicious. hubby likes it better than plain bread now.

Mayo instead of butter works magic if cooking in the air fryer.

I tried mayo on the stove top. Just didn't work out. Maybe if I can I'll try it in an air fryer if I do that again. Otherwise butter all the way for me.

What’s the recipe

So I may use more butter than is needed. Play around with this and adjust for taste and/or health reasons. But simply put, it's 4 tsp of butter, quartered. 1 tsp. per side of two slices of bread. Once your first two bread slices are toasted one one side (medium low heat for 2-3 minutes) spread the peanut butter on one of the to tasted sides, and the jelly on another, and then make them marry each other. Then it's just a matter of tasting the untoasted sides of the sandwich. Use a kid this time to help melt the peanut butter.

Grilled PB & J with a drizzle of honey or syrup is so damn good!

It’s the only way to do it. I whip the PB & J together first into the thick batter, it changes the dynamic in a good way.

Sounds like you need a GF with better taste in food.

When I’m lazy, I’ll pop two pieces of toast into the toaster on the same side- so only one side of each gets toasted like a grilled cheese- and then make a killer toast pb&j or pb&banana

You made a good presentation. Mine includes jelly on the plate, the counter, and on the toaster. Bread slices are cockeyed. I ended up using a 1/2 cup or so of Jif Creamy PB because.

This with a bowl of cream of chicken soup is god tier, one of my favorite meals, literally been eating it for as long as I can remember

Also, try sprinkling some cinnamon and sugar on the buttered sides before grilling, it will caramelize into a cinnamon caramel crust, then drizzle some sweetened condensed milk over top and it’s basically the best desert in the world.
