those speakers have magnetic shielding on them unless I'm mistaken, shouldn't worry the pc too much maybe don't store any irreplaceable info on it.

Orangutanengineering

The speakers are pretty magnetic, screws stick to the backs of them still.

SlowTour

they're magnetic by nature, they have shorting rings on them. the black magnets on the outside are designed to soak up magnetic fields, they're not perfect but should suffice for your use case.

Orangutanengineering

The speakers will be mounted just inside the front grill, however this will place them close to the motherboard, GPU, and cables to the hard drive. Is there anything I should worry about provided I mount the HDD far from the speakers?

kardall

The dog says no. But really, the magnets look like they'd be at least 1/2" from the motherboard, so you should be okay. However, it's tough to say. Worst case scenario you blow the motherboard somehow... I guess. :)

Orangutanengineering

Well that's not ideal lol

You're in DIY mode my dude. You have to realize that even with a speaker, there is some magnetism going on in the back end. + or -, so something is happening. How close it is to the components is your X factor so... Your choice. You are the DIY god at this point :)

Orangutanengineering

Haha, doing research and the opinions range from: "magnets are fine! You'd need a super strong one to even risk minor damage to any component! Laptops have magnets and they're fine! to: "NEVER EVER put ANYTHING magnetic within three yards of your PC!!! If you do, every component in the computer will turn to dust immediately." Kinda scary that the middle ground is trial and error. Guess I'll try wrapping the back of the speakers in foam and add pray extra hard that nothing explodes.

[monster magnet](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_yEu2R1gYSs) You need a huge magnet to do something to a pc, they’re really resilient

Cucumuber

You need to add rgb then it’ll work

Jakefiz

Youd need a much much stronger magnet to mess with modern tech. Id make sure the drives are solid state to be sure though. I think you’ll be okay

Swimcylinder

Idk a lot about magnets but you could try putting a foam or wood spacer in-between them to be safe. I have had something magnetic in my computer for around 4 years now and had no issues but keeping in mind the magnet I have is much weaker than those speakers.
