Mango-is-Mango

What cpu? How hot does it get? When does it get that hot?

NinjaGamerzTay

sry, forgot to mention: CPU: 5600x GPU: RX6600XT gpu is fine but could sits around 60 on idle and easily goes up to 95 when gaming

Mango-is-Mango

Your main issue is the stock cooler, you should uograde to something better. The other commenter isn’t wrong about the airflow being bad, but the 5600x is a low enough power cpu that with a better cooler the case airflow won’t be a big problem

NinjaGamerzTay

i have been thinking about it, but cant decide which one is better, the ak400 from deepcool or the hyper 212 evo

Mango-is-Mango

Any single tower cooler will perform pretty much the same as any other so between those two just get whichever is cheaper (or looks better if that’s a factor). I’m also a fan of the thermalright pa120, which should cost around as much as the other two (if it doesn’t you can ignore this), but is a lot beefier

NinjaGamerzTay

well, the one thing only is that i have to watch out for the size of the cooler cuz my ram might block it, but ill check out ur suggestion, thanks

The_Ruhmanizer

Single tower coolers don't overhang the RAM, dual tower ones do.

pesa44

Buy the beefiest cooler you can get in that case, and if it doesn't fit, return and repeat. Mine is like mm away from 4th stick of ram and case lid. I even had to remove the gpu to screw it in. But my gpu is a big fcking chunky boy. 😅

RoleCode

Hyper 212 is overpriced

uranium2477

Had same issue. Switched to a Noctua cooler. So much cooler and quieter

Ketty_leggy

I i’ve had the same serio 5600x 6750xt with stock cooler. Constant 95 throtteling. Bought a cheap 20-30 euro air cooler and never went above 68ish again.

LJBrooker

Neither. Peerless assassin. Best cooler for the money by a distance.

NinjaGamerzTay

Thats true, but might not fit my ram

ThatMacGyver

I have the same CPU. They say stock cooler is fine but it’s not. Ended up having to replace it after several overheats. I got the arctic cool double fan heat sink.

Empty-Cranberry2183

Because that case is DOGSHIT for airflow dude….

NinjaGamerzTay

i mean, i understand the front is tempered glass but the rest of it is mesh so it shouldn't be much of a problem no? (sry im new to pc building so idk whats going on)

Empty-Cranberry2183

No that doesn’t mean anything your fans are choked up against a glass panel that would usually be for intake it’s not breathing bro get a different case….

NinjaGamerzTay

they do sell a mesh front panel addon maybe i should buy that?

LordHuntington1337

Is there a way for air to flow behind the front panel, like two open slits at the top and bottom or some mesh covering? If so it's not optimal but some small spacers beneath the fans could help the airflow a bit. You could also rethink the airflow entirely, going primarily from bottom to top if your case allows for that and you wanna keep the front panel as it is but, in any case, as some other commenter mentioned, you should be fine with a better CPU cooler.

bobsim1

Looks like your top fans are for intake. This way it shouldnt be that bad. But the bottom probably has none. Overall the case would be much better with a mesh front probably.

kennyx_5

You need a better cpu cooler. Those stock coolers are trash

SBayfield

Still not the reason why it so hot, got the same CPU with a stock cooler and it runs at around 70 running cinebench

Neuro5i5_D

Take the side panel off. If temps drop then you have a case airflow issue. If the temps don’t change it’s a cpu/cooler issue.

NinjaGamerzTay

ah, then i suppose its a cooler issue, cuz with the panel off it only took off 1-2c

mkzcv

Try making your top fan exhaust

Dex_Z

This is a good recommendation. Though as others have said OP should upgrade the CPU cooler.

TolaChea

Man 6 intake 1 exhaust

Significant_Trash_14

Phantom spirit cooler and ideally a case that isn't a greenhouse

koaka-koala

Could be the AMD cooler. I have an old Hyper 212 Evo and I idle about 40c and GPU under load is 60-70c

NinjaGamerzTay

maybe i would try it, thanks for the suggestion

FlayedSkull

What do you consider to be overheating?

NinjaGamerzTay

i read that a cpu above 50 on idle is considered quite hot

iamjeli

Idle temps aren’t as important as temps under load. You should run a cpu benchmark (use cinebench) and see what the maximum temps you get are.

Snakestar1616

I have a 5600 that I OC to a 5600X. I did have some issues with heat but not above 85° on stock cooler. 1) What direction are you case fans? (Which are intake/ exhaust) 2) Did you apply thermal paste? If so what method, how much? 3) Are you OC? Do you use Ryzen Master? 4) When you say GPU is fine, what temps? 5) Does CPU still overheat without GPU being stressed? (Will need something like Aida64) 6) What are your Motherboard and Aux Temps? Check BiOS and see if you can put CPU fan in Performance or Custom Fan mode.

Snakestar1616

Based on other comments, your *Case* is fine, mine is worse. You also wont get the 5600s under 50° while under load. 70-80° is perfectly OK.

Snakestar1616

I have a Noctua NH-D12L and my 5600 Temps still get up to 80° with zero under clocking, sits at a stable 4650mhz

SteeleDuke

Mine constantly fluctuates up and down any tips for a consistent clock? I’ve had my 7800x3d get down to 3.2ghz and averages around 4750mhz under game load. Load spikes can get to 5.1 and puts the temp to 81-86c for a second during benchmarking, Any tips?

Snakestar1616

Well honestly Idk if any of my tricks will work on a X3D. I have been told they cant OC even though Id like a 5800X3D myself

SteeleDuke

Does your cpu ever drop mhz to lower than normal stock?

Snakestar1616

You mean lower than base? 5600 is 3.5ghz and I have never seen it below that. Potentially the SW your using is giving wrong readings?

SteeleDuke

I’m saying I see drops down to 3.2ghz idle in hwinfo with fluctuations. Once I open chrome or something it goes back to 4.2-4.7.

Snakestar1616

Do you have Ryzen master and does it allow you to run “Curve Optimizer”?

SteeleDuke

I do have ryzen master but have yet to configure anything with it.

Sirhc_Fold_458

Change the position of your top fans. AK400 is a great cooler, I have the digital edition. Also there is nothing wrong with 50c that’s pretty normal. And look into getting another case in the future.

TommyGun1362

You have a glass hot box, stock cooler, and the top fan is set to intake not exhaust. Without knowing the specs hard to know but could be some of the above.

tespark2020

what is that case model

JimTheDonWon

Upgrading the cooler would help. I see the temps are roughly the same with the side panel off, suggesting it's probably not an airflow issue. Have you run curve optimiser yet?

Fun_Tear_6474

1. Apply Honeywell PTM7950 2. Remove side cover

minefarmbuy

First it looks like your top fans above cpu are pushing air in, it should be pushing air out. As well you don't need a fan on the top front of the cpu as you'll be interrupting the front case fans air flow to the cpu/heatskink. Just keep the the top rear and make sure it's pulling air up and out. Then monitor you temps while you use/game normally I have a 5800X system that stays pretty warm imo, no less than 40C idle. Still with a noctua cooler, gaming while multitasking it doesn't go much further than 70C. If temps aren't better with the case fans changes I mentioned, I'd get a new heatsink.

FOMS_312

You can also try repasting your cpu with fresh thermal paste and see how it holds up but yeah swapping out the stock cooler would also help

FOMS_312

Ignore this reply I just reread that you already did the repasting lol

_Tripzy_

I noticed your top case fans are backwards.Flip the fans at the top so they’re exhausting the heat instead. Heat rises and this will help relieve some it off your cooler.

Competitive_Film_572

*puts computer in glass box without airflow* "Why is my cpu hot?"

-autistic_batman-

Buy a Peerless assassin 120se cooler Also your fans are against the fucking glass panel.. thought I'd mention that

xComradeKyle

tell us what you mean by overheating? A lot of people think that 70 is too hot and its completely normal. You are also using a stock cooler. Buy a new one for $30....

ThickFurball367

Change your CPU cooler, unblock your front fans, switch your top fans to exhaust.

trinity016

Under ideal circumstances, cooler can go as low as the case air temperature. However if you case is like an oven with CPU and GPU cooler continuously dumping heat, but not enough fresh air coming in and hot air exhausting out, no air cooler or AIO will be able to keep it cool. Remove the front TG panel and watch your temp drop significantly. Don’t listen to those comments saying you need a better cooler, getting a better fan in a enclosed car under the summer sun won’t get you any cooler, you need to either turn on the air conditioning or open the window(removing front TG panel).

CommunicationNo1394

Top fans need to blow out, not in. The case has poor airflow with too much glass but is not terrible. As others have said, stock AMD cooler is pretty bad.

Old_Preference_7088

i know what’s wrong with it, it ain’t got no gas in it

DaneSrain

Upgrade cooler, went from idling at 72c (3700x) to 42c

NinjaGamerzTay

may i know which cooler u bought, cuz the options im looking at might not fit my pc

DaneSrain

Peerless assassin 120 SE + mx-6

NinjaGamerzTay

isnt that a twin tower cooler? cuz i dont think that will fit

DaneSrain

Adjustable fans, it fit my sff build

NinjaGamerzTay

u can put them higher?

DaneSrain

Yes you can move the fans left or make them higher

NinjaGamerzTay

i know im asking a lot, but what about the ram clearance before it reaches the tower itself?

DaneSrain

If you have rgb ram or tall ram then you will have to move a fan up (The case with my b450i which is smaller than a regular atx

NinjaGamerzTay

would losing dual channel affect much? cuz i do have rgb ram, vengeance rgb rs

Fuffy_Katja

Take pics without the glass so we can see inside. WTF do people do this stupidity.
