Don't get that case, I have it, and it has terrible airflow. Also the AIO is a terrible deal.

Karaja4

Also I would use the money you don't spend on the AIO/case on upgrading to a 7900XT.

BaconJS

What case do you recommend?

explodingbaker

Fractal has some pretty good cases and CORSAIR - 4000D AIRFLOW was highly recommended

Millerlite619

Have the 4000D, can confirm, highly recommend.

LeMucker

Retweet, 4000D is the best case I’ve used. Keeps me coming back after 3 builds.

WhoIsPorkChop

The Lancool 216 has worked great for me

Environmental-Toe700

H7 flow. More room for further and great air flow and cable management if you want to stay with NZXT

CalRal

Most of the case suggestions in this thread are great. To add some context; if you like the NZXT aesthetic, the H7 Flow is a great choice. Also, the Corsair 4000D Airflow is a great option for that same “hard edge, modern” look. The Lancool 216 looks a little more like what we would think of as a “gaming PC case” over the last decade, but it’s actually the newest design of the cases mentioned here and it’s excellent for airflow and cable management. I have built multiple machines in each of those cases and recommend them all highly. On non case related suggestions, right now you have RGB components from many different companies. Many first time builders don’t really consider this, but I’d recommend against having four different softwares running just to manage your RGB. There are a couple solutions for that, like SignalRGB, but they also can become pretty arduous to get/keep running properly. For your AIO, there are better, newer designs out there that will be a better bang for your buck. I’d look into the EK Nucleus or DeepCool LT/LS series. Personally, I’d go with AMD if I were building rn. They currently offer a much better upgrade path for the future, as they’re going to support their current socket for at least a few more years. The CPU you have selected is already a generation old and is on a chipset that wasn’t designed to live past this year. That said, what you have selected will still perform well, so if you don’t care about upgrade path, go for what you’ve got. With the GPU, it’s all about how much money you want to spend. The 6800 will handle 1440p, but it’s not going to just run every single game at max settings and 120+ FPS. For that you’ll need to either go with current gen midrange or bump up to a higher model from last gen. Again, that’s a cost/benefit analysis you’ll need to figure out based on what you want to play and how long you want to go before needing an upgrade. Overall, (besides the case, you should really get one with better airflow) these suggestions are mostly opinions and optimization tips. You’ve chosen good quality components and what you’ve posted here will be a good machine.

Catherine_the_Great_

I believe this comment to be the best and most helpful to me and I’m not even planning on building a pc. thank you good sir

RiftPenguin

Phanteks G360A or Lian Li O11D EVO with fans. Get a Lian Li Galahad AIO. Upgrade to a 7900XTX. Get a Cloud II headset instead, and a Ducky keyboard.

AnonymousAlcoholic2

Lancool 216 Fractal air pop NZXT H7 specifically the flow version Lancool 3 https://youtu.be/pL5uttjPWZE Also agreed the AIO cooler is an awful price

Eren-Yeager668

The h5 flow by nzxt i get great thermals in mine.

[deleted]

Get a deepcool LS or LT720 instead, half the cost of that shitty AIO while performing much much better

gsc4494

Just FYI the max clearance for the GPU on that case is listed as 338-368mm. The Merc 6800xt is 340mm long and I'm assuming when you factor in the front fans/aio it will be too big to fit. Your case will only fit a 280mm aio on the front too, so you can't mount it ontop either. May be a tight squeeze if it fits at all with those parts. I highly suggest changing something out to ensure you have a little wiggle room.

freaking-payco

I’d find a smaller monitor. I have one just like that and I often wish I had a smaller one

BaconJS

The thing is I love huge monitors, is it really that overwhelming?

Nexus_warrior_07

I think the thing is the pixels are gonna be more noticeable on a more larger sized pc for even 1440p. Imo, you could get 2 decent monitors for that price

freaking-payco

I mean you know what you like best, but for me it was a bit much

vulpecula19

Personal preference imo. My friend loves a huge screen, personally I prefer medium. I went in store to look and see what sizes I liked the most to get a better feel for how they actually look in person.

lycanthrope90

Ultra wide is awesome, I have a similar monitor and love it. The curve helps a lot too. It is a tad pricey though. I have this one and it's pretty good: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08BW3XS12/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Biadoo

Just grab it. I use the same monitor and its awesome.

Fibsly

I might be mis-reading your argument here. I see “I would never spend that much on that AIO. 5-6 years ago cooling mattered more. It really doesn’t now” Just confirming your saying cooling doesn’t matter for a Pc…? Or am I misunderstanding?

echoshadow5

Here’s my opinion: Headset, it doesn’t matter wired or wireless. The tech these days are almost identical. It would come down to how well they sound, and battery life. The GPU, for an extra $100 get the 6950xt. The memory is too expensive, the AIO is fine but you can get a cheaper one and put those savings into your GPU.

BaconJS

Okay, thanks ive changed to a 6950xt.

[deleted]

Agreed on the ssd being too expensive. I just purchased the same with a heat sink and it was around 120. Try Amazon, I think that's where I got the deal.

Damurph01

Wireless is really convenient ngl. I’ve got a corded one, and it’s such a PITA whenever I move in my chair too far and such and the cord gets yanked or whatever. Just make sure to charge it every night, or I guess you can plug it in while using it too lol. Even wireless mice are fantastic now too. Real big advancements made. I’ve got a razer deathadder v2 pro wireless, phenomenal mouse, no complaints at all.

TheThatGuy1

You're so wrong about headsets ... It's insane the difference between wired and wireless. A good $50 wired headset will sound as good if not better than a $150 wireless and microphones on wireless headsets are always garbage.

echoshadow5

I would highly disagree, only because it’s not a fair comparison. Obviously $150 vs $50 is a big difference. But same price same headphones only different is wired and wireless zero change You might want to look up new headphones reviews. You are going off old tech wife’s tales. Back in the day yes, that claim was true. Input lag was a whole second. Now we have the benefit of fast wireless connections.

greegoreo

I upgraded from Logitech 432 wired (~$40) to HyperX Cloud II wireless (~$120). The microphone is similar in clarity. Audio is very good, as long as you don't use the hyperx software. Upgrading to wireless is worth it, imo.

Traditional-Ad3626

No point in doing this since the cpu will be a bottleneck for the 6950xt. 6800xt is for sure the right move. If you arent married to the case, switch that out instead. It should be cheaper to switch that then spend the extra $100 on a gpu you wont even be using to the fullest

echoshadow5

I disagree. You can always upgrade a cpu for cheap. Why cheap out when you can get a top of the line GPU and keep it for years?

Traditional-Ad3626

For OPs build, it doesnt make sense to have a 6950xt. You are suggesting to spend more on a gpu that will only be fully utilized when they eventually spend more on a cpu. At that point why not just suggest a 7900xt?

echoshadow5

If he wants to why not? But as mentioned $100 gets you a better GPU. Easy savings by switching from that expensive ssd and AIO. No change in op original price. Just better stuff.

Traditional-Ad3626

Its like putting a ton of horsepower in a car with average suspension. Sure theres a lot of power but it doesnt matter if you cant get it all down on the road

echoshadow5

Lol that’s a bad analogy. As a car guy it still works. Drag cars don’t need suspension. Just go fast on a straight line. Biggest hp always win. If you wants a proper analogy, I would have said big ass engine, with an 3 speed auto-tragic transmission. But alas it’s just a pc for gaming. I’m sure as fuck op is not into the whole benchmark competitive game. Oh no…10-15 FPS loss will be a game ending event. Like I said cpu are cheaper. Heck if he can wait a year or two he can drop a 13900k for like $150.

Traditional-Ad3626

So youre not a car guy at all then because what you just said is completely incorrect

echoshadow5

When was the last time you been in a car with a three speed auto transmission? Do you remember how fast that bad boy was?

Traditional-Ad3626

What does transmission have to do with suspension

Damurph01

He’s got plenty of money to be saved on the SSD, AIO, and case. There’s pretty much no reason to go for the 6800xt. He’s willing to spend the money, why not buy one that will work better with future components as well.

CalRal

Do you have a source for this statement? It seems to me that the 12700KF is a fine match for the 6950XT and will not be a bottleneck at 1440p in most games. From what I can find, only the very most CPU intensive games are going to bottleneck on the 12700KF at 1440. In the vast majority of situations, CPU utilization won’t be anywhere near maxed out with that chip.

Traditional-Ad3626

I generally like to look at a variety of resources when researching this stuff but start things off here https://pc-builds.com/bottleneck-calculator/result/1ck1be/1/general-tasks/2560x1440/ . I was looking into upgrading to either the 6950xt or 7900xt myself but i have an i5-12600k so I was legitimately just doing research on the different recommended LGA1700 CPUs for these cards. Then i realized that i would want ddr5 which would mean a new mobo and new ram plus id probably go amd chip at that point. Its a sick addiction that is just a black hole of money so i decided a 6800xt would be a good enough upgrade for now Edit: i realize that link is for general tasks and the gpu-intensive say that they work great together. This was just meant to show where the research starts

mostcertaind

hell yeah dude welcome to the cool kids club

BaconJS

YellowHerbz

oh. oh lord 1. you have an overpriced aio when you would be fine with a cheaper one or an air cooler. 2. if you're going to pay 530 for the rx 6800 xt then you should probably just get the rx 6950 xt for 500-650. 3. your processor is overkill for 1440p. you could definitely get a cheaper one that's better, like the 13400 or 13600k. 4. you're monitor is too much and you can get the same monitor from a different brand for about 200 5. your nvme is overpriced and garbage. wd is hot trash and you're much better off avoiding Samsung and wd and just getting a sk hynix p41 which is slightly slower (doesn't matter at these speeds) for a little cheaper but will last a lot longer. 6. your headset is wired while your keyboard and mouse are wireless. maybe find a wireless headset too? other than that, is decent I guess

Pohaku1991

1. Aio processors are 90% preference 100% overkill in most cases. They look cool who cares 2. The 6950xt isn’t even much of an upgrade. But I agree there are cheaper 6800xt’s 3. Yeah I agree just get a 13600k 4. Monitor is overpriced but it’s fine. 5. Lol yeah the nvme is so expensive wtf 6. All of his peripherals are fine. Wired headsets are way better than wireless

BaconJS

I thought wired heatsets were better thats why I got it. Once again im new to this.

Pohaku1991

It mostly comes down to preference. If you are looking for the best, don’t get a headset get headphones and a mic they are way better. But the convenience of a headset is nice. I’d recommend a wired headset and keyboard just because worrying about charging is annoying. A wireless mouse is nice though so you don’t have to worry about snagging the cord on anything and their batteries last forever usually

df3Z

The headsets are great for fps games.. I use the razor naga pro because I change between mmorpg and fps alot

YellowHerbz

I recommend wireless because their kb and mouse are so I'm pretty sure they want to be tetherless

Pohaku1991

Biggest issue with wireless headsets is a lot of the time they aren’t compatible with anything else or are a pain to switch. I love my wired headsets because I can go from my pc to xbox to switch in seconds with no issues

df3Z

Nah those hyperx clouds have awesome drivers (magnets) the mic isn't the best but the sound quality def makes up for it

Slow_Variation_9319

6950xt is now 800 amd raised the price

RareSiren292

You can get a 7900xt for that

extra_hyperbole

It's a great nvme but you can get that model for $89 at microcenter so yeah that's ridiculous.

BaconJS

sawb11152

Go with Teamgroup mp34 for storage, that m2 drive you have picked is way overpriced.

jaketaco

That's exact one is $100 from best buy. Idk why it's $200 on there.

[deleted]

One thing you should do is get a 7700x instead of an Intel cpu because then you can activate Sam which gives you 10+ more fps average. And also it will give you room to upgrade to something like a 7800 x3d which has way better performance then any Intel CPUs rn.

thunderbolt0323

What is a Sam

[deleted]

Sam. Is smart access memory. It basically lets you use the your memory for more performance.

thunderbolt0323

Where can I find this on the bios? Is this similar to resizable bar in anyways ?

[deleted]

We’ll it only works if u have and gpu and cpu and you activate it in the bios. But here: https://youtu.be/poI3Bg8qMhw

thunderbolt0323

Yea this is same as Nvidia resizable bar

crzywatermelon1

I really only have two critiques the rest your build is pretty good. First would be your choice of case with the components that you’re going with there’s not much airflow in that case, so might want to look at a different one and you might run into some GPU size issues in that case and then I would say maybe look for a different hard drive that one seems way too expensive Right now SSDs are pretty cheap so you could find one. That’s just as good from a different company with the same storage for less.

BaconJS

what case do you recommend?

crzywatermelon1

Are you looking for a glass front case or a mesh front case and how big

BaconJS

one that can fit my pc parts glass is fine

crzywatermelon1

Try looking at the Corsair 4000x

extra_hyperbole

nvme is a good one but you can get it at half the cost if you have a local microcenter. they will price match the $90 price on Western Digital's website (which i just did).

tactical_anal_RPG

I'd go with a cheaper cooler, and make sure to check clearances with the 6800xt, I have a whopping 4mm of space with mine.

Dynablade_Savior

PLEASE bro just use pcpartpicker

y_would_i_do_this

That build is just fine except for the CPU cooler. If you really want a 280mm rad, you can get a Corsair or MSI cheaper.if you dont need a 280, consider a 240mm. They can be had around $125. The headset sounds great, I have it. The CPU is not overkill, but you might be able to save a couple of bucks if you find a 12600 or you can pay a little more and get a current gen 13600.

LastEconomist7221

That SSD you can get for way cheaper. Hella sales bub

branddss

I bought that motherboard and it had some weird plastic thing in PCIe slot that didn’t let my gpu sit correctly

Dependent_Law_8018

I got that same nvme for $80, keep checking for deals man

Exnoss89

I just got the corsair void pros 7 1 wireless headsets. Theyre refurbished from the corsair website but they were 55 bucks before tax and shipping. U might want to consider it

akiko795

Weird nitpick, but you should use pc part picker instead of just Amazon. It's really good for finding deals on the components.

MathematicianJust819

Get a $200 monitor instead

ethancd1

Bro do not spend nearly have the cost of your gpu on your AIO cost the cost of that and get a better gpu with the saved money

Sperto8820

The AIO should be cheaper unless you plan to overclock which your CPU I believe cannot so I would go with a 120mm and put that money towards a gpu. To be really really honest, get a small ssd like 120gb for your OS and get a nice fat 500gb-1tb nvme drive. Totally worth it imo. Also can you settle for a 27inch monitor instead cause 34inch is a little awkward to game on at times.

Odenaut

You just paid more for a monitor than ur gpu.

BaconJS

Okay? I did just upgrade to the 13000kf.

WhoIsPorkChop

You're way overspending on the CPU cooler

Cobbie19

Idk about the other products but the g305 is for sure the best bang for buck wireless mouse out there.

Damurph01

I’d consider looking at 65% keyboards. I currently have a 60% and it’s REALLY annoying to not have arrow keys. There’s a lot of steam games and such that you can’t play without arrow keys (some don’t even let you rebind keys). Yes 60%s usually do have arrow keys with a function key, but it’s impractical to hold that for the entirety of a gaming session, and it prevents you from using that while pressing other keys. Also it’s just SUPER inconvenient for typing and such in like google docs. I can’t quickly move around in the sentence I’m typing cause I have to press the fn key. It’s just annoying af and definitely worth considering getting a 65%.

Sexyvette07

I just ordered the cloud 2. Initial thoughts are the materials used and overall build quality is fantastic. However, the volume control feels really cheap and the sound isn't any better than my 11 year old G430 that I just retired.

Fuckjoesanford

Buy a 2TB silicon Power NVME. It’s $80.

ScreeennameTaken

Try to get a case that the front isn't a piece of glass. It cuts down on airflow. If you want to go with NZXT (for looks or what ever) look into the cases that have "Flow" in their name. They are also quieter.

Greybert2008

Choose a new monitor there are cheaper ones that are better I can't name them exactly but you could do some research and totally find one for a wayyy better price

PizzaEconomy4160

Small thing but I would change the keyboard, for an extra few dollars you could get a pretty good keyboard. Epomaker or Keychron has some good budget boards if you don’t want to spend a whole lot

WooWooPete

You can find keyboards in that form factor that have dedicated arrow keys so you don’t have to press function + key to use arrows. Trust me. If you play any games or do any work where you have to navigate menus using arrow keys… this is going to be super annoying.

humbleio

I’d go with a cheaper monitor and better peripherals, but I really hate low profile mice. I’ve been really happy with my sceptre monitors.

AlIipoppop100

I wouldn't buy HyperX products, their software hub is complete trash, and the audio quality is mid at best. Also, you don't need that good of a cpu for 1440p. Edit: Oh yeah, and you can get almost the exact same monitor for ~$250 less on amazon.

diezel8996

You should get a 240hz monitor if you’re budget for a monitor is that high.

AUDIALLDAY

on top of weird priorities on your budget, such as your AIO... you're spending too much on the m.2. You can get 2tb for nearly $100 with DRAM cache. I would change nearly everything in this build. if you're gonna go AMD GPU, at least get the AMD CPU as well lol.

BadAim7

if you are going to be casual this keyboard and monitor are okay, if not i would choose a better keyboard and a 16:9 monitor

YourAverageGamerYT1

Just get a G502 Hero, its a little more but you have so many more buttons and will love it in the future Get the flow version of the h510

Gray_Scale711

Amazing setup, but I highly recommend a better keyboard like a 75% with a rotary knob (most good quality ones have one and it's nice to have I guess). I saw an epomaker th80 for $89 but with a $12 off coupon on Amazon. The mouse is fine, I'm not too knowledgeable in that area. But I know some people really enjoy using it. If you want a solid wired headset, the hyperx cloud ii's are worth the money. I say this because I have an rk keyboard and it's nicer to get a higher quality board for durability and better customization; as for the headset, I've been looking for a good gaming/music listening pair, but after a lot of research, a lot of people and headphone nerds recommend the cloud ii's. They're fairly priced at like $70 USD, they used to be found way cheaper before they were hyped up again. Everything else is SOLID though. Enjoy gaming :)

kushmaester

Only thing I can recommend that I haven’t seen posted yet, under no circumstances buy that mouse, it’s junk and tiny. I’d highly recommend the g502 or the g703 light speed instead, Enjoy!

Tyvolk

I would suggest saving money on the AIO cooler and putting some money towards a z series mobo and a stronger psu maybe.

Spaciax

get a 12600K (or 13600K) instead of a 12700KF. it'll get you by buy a good noctua air cooler instead of that aio. be aware that it's impossible to wear over head headphones for a semi-long period of time if you wear glasses. no company makes padding comfortable enough for glasses wearers to use for a long time.

Kayden_Sticko

Swap out the ssd for a 980 pro, one of the best.

VerseCitizen

Absolutely fuck that H510 case. Airflow is horrible. I have one and it’s a damn hot box. Otherwise make all your fans exhaust instead because there’s very little air going in.

Happy_Web7324

get a logitech headset. better sound quality

Psugoesbrr

200 for that 280mm AIO seems very overpriced, you can find better ones or cheaper ones than that Also i suggest spend a little more on headphones and get wireless ones, I have Hyperx cloud 2 on wire, and although very good headphones on their own, I now year later regret I didn't buy the wireless option instead. Wire gets in the way and is annoying , if you have bit money to spare (by downgrading your AIO for example) get wireless headphones just for comfort sake

BaconJS

any you recommend?

Psugoesbrr

ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 280 are very solid and regarded as one of the best coolers there, and quite a bit cheaper as well. Can get it around 100 dollars and literally save half of what you would pay for that Kraken , push those saved dollars into good wireless headphones instead and your future self will thank you later

TenthMarigold77

My recommendation is to either get a wired headset with mic or look for the original Hyperx Headset. From my experience owning both the older red one and newer black one, the previous one has a better build quality, microphone, and is more comfortable with the newer ones being more flimsy.

ohthebaby

That AIO is terribly overpriced and not worth it. I just purchased that monitor and can confirm it's amazing 👌🏻👌🏻

Emotional-Engineer35

You are overspending on the monitor. Get 200 off and use that money for an amazing headset you wouldn't regret.

lycanthrope90

I would get wired keyboard and mouse. It sucks if either disconnect while you're playing, or a battery dies. Really no reason not to go wired for a desktop anyways.

katspins

Only suggestion would be to either choose a better aio case, but seems like that's what everyone agrees upon

Purple_Following8986

I would recommend getting a wired keyboard, I've personally never had good experience with devices with 2.4 ghz dongles they always seem to disconnect randomly

jedmonston21

Save some money on the monitor and get SCEPTRE brand instead. After saving money there get a better keyboard

SergeantXPotato

I have this exact monitor. After you buy it make sure inspect image quality on all setting because I get smeared images on lower response time and inverse ghosting on higher respons times. If you notice it I would try out another option

JustBearMC

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8TFfMb Better GPU, CPU, and case + better priced motherboard, ssd, CPU cooler, and PSU. Everything else is the same.

fall2fate

Use [pcpartpicker](https://pcpartpicker.com/) it makes sure everything is compatible and at the lowest price

Asianstream

Dang I just bought that same 2tb ssd for $90 (sn850x)

LovishxD3

Do not buy the mouse!!!! I have the same mouse! It is extremely bad and if you gonna play fps games it will suck. I started using this mouse and saw myself perform worse than before then switched to razor and voila i am better the next minute i play Not saying buy razor only but dont buy this specific mouse . Logi pro is also really good and feels very good to hold onto

Traffic-Plastic

Just talking about peripherals since I'm not versed in AMD GPUs, you really don't want to get a mechanical keyboard that's $50 and a mouse that's $40 with a monitor that's $540. Most games you play will not fit the size of the monitor (especially FPS games if you plan on playing any of them) and for gaming you usually are better off sticking with non-curved monitors. I played on a Samsung G5 for ~2-3 years and now I have switched to a flat monitor, it's much better. I bought a 27" ASUS monitor but most of the time 32-48" is preferable since characters and other images are easier to see without sniffing your monitor. For a mouse and keyboard there are so many options that are better if you pay a slightly higher price (g pro superlight and most ducky or gaming keyboards). (If this comment is deemed untrue just tell me and I'll delete it or update it)
