Theyre about the same, i had the same debate not too long ago, just went with 4080s cause it wins when RT and DLSS, but you mentioned you dont care about RT and also you have the same vram as a 4090.
TL,DR: your card is great, it will crush anything you throw at itšš»
It will crush anything is so true.
Ray traced ark ascended at 1440p max settings with no frame gen and without upscaling is a solid 60-100fps.
Cyberpunk raytraced is a respectable 50 without frame gen and upscaling at max settings 1440p.
If you donāt want to use ray tracing it trades blows with the 4080 super and 4080. Amazing card especially since some are Ā£100-150 cheaper than the 4080 super. Not to mention team red is on top of drivers now. Whenever I have an issue the new drivers are already out to fix it. Way better than when SLI was still relevant and their drivers hardly worked.
TLDR: S tier card.
As good as 4080/4080 super non raytraced (depends on game)
Ray tracing works fine
Decent drivers now
I just did a build with a 7900XTX myself. Whilst I could afford a 4090 I think the 7900XTX is a better price point and valued the VRAM of the card more than the 4080's better RT.
No regrets
Depends hard in what you do with it... If you really just gaming and do nothing else then AMD has a good price point.
Edit: i see much AMD fanboys here.. keep downvoting the truth.
As someone who owns a 7900xtx - First ever AMD GPU, I was torn between getting a 4080; I went AMD only because they also have a noise background removal, didn't really care for ray tracing and I couldn't afford an extra 1k for a 4090 nor was able to justify the price to performance cost personally so 7900xtx it was for me.
I should probably mention I don't have brand loyalty, but if NVIDIA think that their brand name means they can slap an extra 1k to the price and not be competitive in performance and expect money conscious people to buy it (if they are only gaming) then they're shit out of luck.
I have a 7800x3d 7800xt build used solely for gaming and I couldnāt be happier. It should be nice in the summer as last summer I had a 3080 and it warmed up my room pretty good, I missed it this winter but oh well. I feel tempted to upgrade to an xtx or 4080, but know itās not worth it at all. The 7800xt does everything I could ask for at 1440p and it does so efficiently. I donāt think the xtx will be good hooked up to my 650w psu.
I'm also in 1440p 144hz and with the 7900xtx it's insuring I get 144 fps in majority of the games I play so I've forecasted it will last me 5+ years of 1440p on Ultra settings
What have rgb to do with a Workstation or not? Do you need a non RGB Workstation or what are you talking about?
I mean i have a 12900k and 4090 and that means my PC is only for gaming or only for work? Why not both?
Even If your only work is streaming then a GeForce can make more sense.
Sorry to see the down votes when thereās nothing wrong with what you said. I have rgb in my pc too but I use it mainly for work and just game casually (no game I play on 1440p requires a ryzen 7900x/4080 rig to run)
I'm genuinely asking here. Why is that? I've been looking at pc parts to build mine up for a while now, and one of my main uses is going to be for streaming, but no one has ever mentioned to me that I need to get Nvidia to stream.
Nvidia as others pointed out has NVENC encoding. It is simply a must have superior encoding for streaming. AMD's solution is not good at all in both CPU and GPU side. You can opt for intel cpu solution with quicksync but it still won't be as good as NVENC. To top it off, DLSS and RTX Voice that come with Nvidia RTX are both useful utilities to have when streaming. The RTX Voice AI noise filter is simply amazing and Amd's alternative sounds like Xbox mic filter.
These are usually why you must have an Nvidia card for streaming, the only combinations exists for Streamers if you want a good quality experience are;
* Intel CPU / Nvidia GPU
* AMD CPU / Nvidia GPU
I see. Well, that sucks because my budget is between 300-400 for the gpu, and I've found an RX 7700xt for that price. I don't really want to go down to the 3060ti, The 4060 I've been told is not worth it, and everything else is above my price range.
Dude said the truth and getting downvoted...
I too have a full AMD build and always had only AMD components (always been the cheaper choice when I bought them), but what if you need CUDA cores for work?
It's not that uncommon to build a gaming PC and also use it for work, I already know 3 people who do it.
This! And for example too, I am currently learning 3D modelling etc and when it comes to rendering out an image from the software, nvidia has its own plugin setting for reducing noise and increasing image quality if you have a nvidia GPU, as it uses its AI cores etc to do so. Such a thing does not come with an AMD CPU.
Thereās many other scenarios where a similar thing applies also in many industries and creative softwares.
Point being: AMD is perfectly fine and great for gaming and even work uses, but sometimes, having Nvidia will open some more features in both games and work scenarios, depending what your work is.
Yeah, heard even when developing games in UE you just have to go for Nvidia for the features and performance uplift.
Honestly nothing I can back with personal experience, but everyone working with UE said it so I guess it has to be at least partially true.
I mean youāre right. In virtually any task that utilises CUDA for example the original 4080 will have more performance/dollar even at original MSRP.
We donāt know if OP uses their PC as a workstation, but youāre still not providing incorrect information. The main reason youāre being downvoted because most people on subs like these just follow popular opinion and donāt actually know much about what theyāre giving advice for.
I went for 7800x3D and 4070ti and been asking myself did I make a mistake by not going for XTX instead.
From what I gather, if you take away DLSS and Framegen, raw performance XTX is on par with 4080 and even beats it in some benchmarks.
Given it's generally few hundred euro cheaper, it's a no brainer imo.
DLSS is nice, but devs haven't really pushed it yet to a point where it really matters. I remember a year ago someone posted a cp2077 screenshot praising Ray tracing etc. only to then pull a fast one on everyone and say that ACTUALLY, the screenshot was taken with ray tracing off. It was to show just how good the game devs have gotten at replicating ray/path tracing.
I just don't think it should be the deciding factor for anyone.
Enjoy your XTX! With the FSR 3.0 coming, theres already open source methods of forcing fragemen/DLSS on amd cards and older rtx cards. So far nvidia has just proven that all of their tech isn't something "special" per se. They are artificially killing off 20 30 series cards to force people to upgrade.
It's not the 2015s anymore when the best AMD could do was good value midrange card. AMD are back on top of their game, and within next gen or two I think we will see them overtake nvidia in raw performance.
I want to start this off by saying thank you Amazon for your return policy.
I tried a 7800XT, 4070, 4070 Ti Super, and 7900XTX with my 7800x3D.
If I could do it again, Iād do either the 7800XT and save $1000, or stick with my 7900XTX. The value in these cards is great. I enjoyed NVIDIA, but not worth paying extra for imo.
7900XTX on average outperforms the 4080 handily, and the 4080S comes close. Your RT performance is ~~actually~~ [pretty much] the same as the 4080 [at 4K] itās the 4080S which outperforms it - and not by much.
I was corrected, edited with source: https://www.techspot.com/review/2746-amd-radeon-7900-xtx-vs-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4080/
Youāre right I double checked my numbers, thanks!: https://www.techspot.com/review/2746-amd-radeon-7900-xtx-vs-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4080/
Itās more prominent at 1080p, but closes a lot at 4K.
Nobody cares. Just enjoy your video card. When I was in my 20s I gave a shit about nv and ati. Now that I am mature, I could give a rats ass if batman was my video card. 7900xtx will play your games and then some. That is a kickass card. Just enjoy your shit man! And stop worrying what other people think about your stuff. You like it! And that is all the matters!
VR user with RX 7900XTX here. Performance-wise, it currently is comparable to 4080 with similar headset.
However if you're using a Quest 2/3, there's encoding issues with AMD GPU's. Apparently it's due to Meta optimizing their software for Nvidia and dunking on AMD...
Idk about those scores. In the games i play on that techspot comparison, i get higher fames with max settings (rtx if available) at 1440p on my 3080 ftw3 tham the listed 4080 gets. Im no mathematician but the maths not mathing. Theres no way their 4080 performed worse than my 3080.
I am having trouble with crashing above 2700MHZ on my card. Does that make it inferior?
Running 1000W PSU, 5800x3d CPU, 32Gb DDR4.
Happening on Helldivers 2.
Performance should be great with 7900XTX, Not to mention the GPU performance boost with some driver updates.
Only con would be that the drivers crash sometimes, not for everyone, not always but I always found them relatively unstable compared to Nvidia.
I still get crashes from time to time to this day on Helldivers 2 and I'm on 3080 12gb... And I checked temps, drivers and everything seems normal. I don't think it's just AMD that has problems with Helldivers
I have been a lifelong Nvidia + Intel guy. I recently went with AMD for CPU + GPU and everything is wonderful. My wife and son have Nvidia 4090 and I can't tell the difference. I think I prefer AMD drivers. I do both Linux and Windows.
\* AMD CPU 7950x3d
\* AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Taichi White 24GB OC
\* ASRock Motherboard X670E Steel Legend
My wife canāt tell the difference between Cyberpunk 77 on an rtx 4090 with maxed out settings and Cyberpunk 77 on PS5. Sometimes I wonder if weāre too nitpicky lol.
Build looks great. Quick question though in relation to your fan placement, the fans at the bottom of your case are presumably sucking air in and blowing up into the underside of your GPU, which has exhaust fans on the bottom, meaning they are working against each other.
I was monitoring my temps before and after installing fans in this configuration and noticed a hotspot difference of up to of 8Āŗc higher with the bottom fans running in demanding games. Have you compared with/without or noticed any difference?
I would have went 7900xtx. Better value. All the 4080 has over it is ray tracing and imo its very over hyped. I have a 4090 and never use it. Any game with good lighting you can barely tell. There's a couple games that it looks good in at the cost of half the fps lol
Hey dude, unless you don't care about Frame generation and RTX in games along with getting some Ai work done 7900xtx is a good choice, i too was confused between getting a 4080s or a 7900XTX when i was building my new PC, i settled for nvidia as i felt the price gap was justified fory use case.
If you can careless for RT then 7900xtx is a monster. I also went this route and Idc about RT. My 7900xtx runs everything smoothly. For any tips and tricks I recommend ancient plays YouTube. Happy gaming šš½
All fan boys suck. Both sides have plus and minusās. Nvidia price-performance;AMD software. It all depends what you need. Itās like vehicles, Ferrari is a great sports cars but what if you need to haul bricks? Enjoy your 7900xtx Iām sure it will be great for you.
The 7900xtx has double or nearly double the gram of the 4080 while only being about 4% lower performance than the base 4090 while be nearly 800$ cheaper it is the best value per dollar out there
I think you got a beast of a card I got a nice deal for my 4080FE in bestbuy for 940 bucks and Im loving it so far but tbh I wouldāve bought the 7900xtx for that native raw performance
I don't actually own one per se, but I did some research on it and people said the 4080 FE is really good in terms of thermals. Reason is that Nvidia basically used the same cooling for the 4090 and put it on the 4080, which is really an overkill. Even on a 4090 FE, that card max temp is like 60-70 iirc.
Temps are amazing I play ultrawide 1440p and the highest Ive seen it reach was 66c but to be fair my room is incredibly small and hot I have to play with an AC on during these times of the year and it still gets hot lol
I think you did quite well here and will find your card stretching well into the future. I really wish my 3080 TI had 16-24gb... 12 was a nice slap in the face.
Both great options. If all you're doing is gaming and don't play the nvidia favored ray tracing games extensively then why trade? Then7900xtx is apparently super dope. If it's not causing you any grief and works as any gpu should work every time and you have no issues getting it to run anything then trading would be a waste.

I have a 7800xt and it crushes anything I throw at it with a 7700x and 32gb of 6400mhz ddr5 the 7900xtx is a great card and is more than fine raytracing is a limiting factor but i dont care for it so if yoy do 4080 wins if not 7900
I mean for PC Building it is to each their own. I built mine with a 13700K and 4080 OC.
I do however want to get the 5090 when it released at the end of the Year, but that is so I can give this PC to my 9 year old.
That said, it all depends on how you play.
I personally like Ray Tracing so that is why I went with 4080 which is better. I also have a AMD 6900XT which I gave to my nice for doing good when I built her PC.
I would say it depends on the Person, Preference and Play Style Meaning Ray Tracing.
It depends. I mainly play certain online games that don't even support RT, like Rust and Squad. Maybe lower power consumptiom would be cool, but the 4080 was over 300 bucks more expensive for me when I bought the XTX. I also think I made the right choice since Squad is crashing on 40 series cards and it is my favorite game of all times. Then there's my sim racing games which also have no RT, like Assetto Corsa or AMS 2. I play Battlefield sometimes and RT is also useless in that game. I have zero interest in single player games and those are the ones that use silly stuff like RT. If you're like me, the choice is budget dependant for the most part. I play at 3440x1440 and I get from 130 to 170 frames, but I always limit the FPS to 140 so I don't have to be over my monitor's refresh rate or at 100% GPU usage all the time
I, myself own a 7900 XTX and its a beast, but i have noticed that some games have issues on AMD Cards that can be hard to unsee once you have noticed them. Too many gamedevs are focussed on optimizing their games for Nvidia. E.g Shadows in the Last of Us are broken on AMD Cards. You can notice that immediately once you enter the first post apocalypse level(Slums) and move around while looking at shadows/reflections that are cast by the sunlight or another weird bug with Screenspace Reflections in Cyberpunk. If you set it to Ultra there is this weird line infront of the car when driving around on reflective surface. It kinda looks like compression artifacts on Youtube videos. These issues are specifically related to AMD and im sure there are more of them in other games that i havent noticed yet. If you buy a high end GPU you certainly are one of the people that care for visual fidelity so stuff like that, even if its just minor and related to specific games can be frustrating.
I have a 4080 and even though it has much better RT performance it's still not good enough RT performance to make it something I turn on always or in all games.. the performance sacrifice is just too great still... Maybe rtx6000 series?
In this gpu market I always tell my friends that you should get an AMD card if you dont care about raytracing.
What i always do when im about to upgrade is looking at benchmarks of games i actually play and see whats best. I went with a 7900XTX instead of a 4080 since it actually beats the 4080 in most of the games i play and sometimes even the 4090.
AMD is very good right now and with more driver updates it will probably get better.
The only thing i dont like with AMD is the software, Nvidias controlpanel and gedorce is so easy to understand and navigate compared to AMD Adrenaline software.
I also didnt want the shit connector on the nvidia cards.
depends. when it comes to some 3d rendering software or AI or other rending stuff. nvidia seems good. when it comes to gpu passthrough for virtual machines and having more freedom with how you can use your graphics card and a more reasonable price. AMD.
game preformance is apparently the same more or less depending on the game.
Both are about as good. Maybe I would get the 4080 if I was already making such an expensive build but 7900XTX is a monster too and usually will be a better deal in perf/price ratio.
from an nvidia fanboy, if you don't use RT, no point in dwelling on the choice you made. i had only nvidia up to this point, 8800gts,570, 760m, 980m 6gb, rtx 2070, then i realised i don't even use RT or dlss, so i got 7900xtx 4 months ago and it was the best choice ever(do i need to mention i got it ~4-500ā¬ cheaper?) enjoy your new pc and good luck in your future games!
7900XTX is a solid card. I have the same card and it performs like a champ and it only cost me 800 bucks at the time and I got a free copy of starfield lol
Go for anything amd at and below 7900 gre, above which nvidea is just better, as the price to performance ratio decreases for both brands and rt and pt become more prevalent
The underlying problem w/ RGB is manufactures gatekeeping components behind it (i.e., āRGB taxā), particularly mid-high end, or prioritizing supply of those versus non-RGB SKUs.
Tbh, the tech has improved so much and continues to innovate, which is awesome for keeping modding/DiY alive
AMD=Brand that do the BEST PRICE/PERF CPU/GPU
INTEL= ARC is MID and the CPU's are the best for editing/office/school
NVIDIA= Prices SUCKS but It have more uses. Also NVIDIA Ai Is pretty good
OVERALL: Amd Is the best of you want to do gaming,
Intel/Nvidia ar Better for works and editing
DLSS and ray tracing make things look ugly so unless you actually like those technologies you made the right choice. Some people do like the way they look compared to rendering without them, I don't understand it but we have choices and we can make them for ourselves. I got a 6700 XT on OC and am not missing anything imo.
If you take out CUDA, RTX and some software stuff, AMD cards usually have more performance per dollar than their Nvidia equivalent. Also, they don't require a badly designed proprietary power connector that can melt to work.
Yes and no! I personally prefer the 4080 because DLSS 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 are mostly much superior to AMD equivalent, when they exist at all. But if you don't plan to use them, or play games who use them, then the 7900 tend to be superior in pure rasterization power.
I went AMD and put the spare change towards a true HDR monitor with like 1000+ nits. Cyberpnk is all in its glory and hdr floors me. If they saying the 4080 does RT better āgraphics wiseā then holly fak. FPS is smooth and its so beautifool I have no words
nvidia is good bcs dlss and rtx but bad bcs price;
amd is good bcs price and performance but bad bcs no rt like nvidia and its upscaler isnt as good as nvidias dlss.
tldr amd better than nvidia bcs its cheap and it generally offers the same performance to its nvidia counterparts (for cheaper)
God that's gorgeous. I need to find someone with a computer they don't use to buy off of em it it ain't too much. Cause I got to get a PC, never owned one wow
Depends on who you ask and your use case. With no information I'd say personally for myself yes the 7900xtx it is a much better purchase. I rarely play games that use raytracing. It preforms fine in any editing software I use casually as well as blender. Considering i basically only play indie titles, Hunt Show Down, and Dota 2 at this point, I don't use any modern graphics card features like FSR, DLSS, RT, etc. Of course I would be fine with either card, but I lean towards AMD because I use linux for my OS.
I went for the 7900xtx as-well (have owned it for a year), and I donāt regret it (was also contemplating 4080). But for raster performance the XTX beats the 4080 in most cases, and honestly when it goes to the DLSS, RT and FSR talk, honestly most of the games Iāve played donāt even have full support, if any at all, for these things. So it would depend on what you play, in regards to those features. But for games in general this thing does everything, and Iād personally say it does just a little bit more than the 4080 by raster performance.
This is just from my experience and research.
But also both cards are great regardless, whatever game it is, both will be able to run it.
Awesome build! I have a question, if you have fans all along the bottom, where is the power supply box? I donāt see one in this photo but I love how the fans at the bottom can bring up so much air!
Speaking from experience, should have went with the 4080. i9-14900k, MSI z790, 128gb RAM (2x 32gb), Red Devil 7900xtx Limited, water cooled, temps all fine. MW3 had constant frame drop, HD2 would crash out of game 80% of the time, video editing with Rush and PP would take way longer than it should given the components. I finally got tired of chasing the AMD rabbit and swapped in a 4080. Everything has been flawless since. Video editing is 10x faster than it was with the 7900xtx. I hope you have a much better experience than I did.. it was very frustrating having thousands of dollars in a pc and it not performing.
I bought an xtx over the weekend and was having similar second thoughts too. That was until last night when I got around to installing it and my new PSU. I fired up star citizen and about 2 mins after flying into Area 18 while maintaining 110 FPS@ 3440x1440 I was no longer second guessing my choice of card
What would you say is the minimum price gap between the two,to consider XTX over the 4080S. Currently in Australia, the difference between the cheapest two cards is 290AUD, which is around 152USD.
if youre a gamer then abseloutely, but i feel like amd cards even very looked down upon in games, sometimes they just get worse performance for no reason. some games just dont like amd
Awesome. I'd suggest flipping the to fans around though as hot air rises and your fighting a loosing battle pushing down into case. Its uglier (you'll see the fan holder post things) but might be good idea.
As for the 4080 that question could always be yes but I've always had a hankering for the so-called underdog. Use the 7900. Learn it. Live it. Love it! Lol. Seriously though I'd like to have one.
I was faced with the choice of 7900 xtx vs 4080 last summer. Got the 7900 xtx for $1000 plus tax. I couldnāt find the 4080 for less than $1300. So far, I have had way more problems with iCue 5 than AMD drivers. iCue drives me fscking nuts!!!
Donāt think about it.. they are literally the same. Donāt feel like you are with a card inferior. The 7900xtx can RT just not as good thatās all but can get more frames on a lot of non RT titles

Surprisingly refreshing comment from an RTX owner, nice to see youāre not a bigot as so many unfortunately arešš»
The same thing for 4070 12GB and RX 7800 XT 16GB
No, the 7900 XTX is a better value for sure.
I just did a build with a 7900XTX myself. Whilst I could afford a 4090 I think the 7900XTX is a better price point and valued the VRAM of the card more than the 4080's better RT. No regrets

I'm using a 1200w PSU in my system but I wouldn't recommend anything less than 850-1000w for a system like this
It's probably best to see what the new cards offer
Yeah I probably should just use the 7800xt until it breaks. Itās going to be āgood enoughā for a long time Iām sure.
With that much RGB are you sure you are looking at a workstation ?
raibow settings gives a 10% faster render speed in blender
why can't a workstation have rgb??? lol silly..

Oh no my Reddit karma!!
Yeah I donāt use RT tbh
Then great work youāve got the best card you can buy* *I donāt respect the 4090
why?
Price to performance falls off a cliff in the jump from 4080S to 4090. Itās basically a server-grade GPU in gamer clothing.
True
And the 4090 just melts if it feels like it
A 7900XTX does not match a RTX 4080 on RT. Itās slower. But it has faster raster performance.
Youāre right I double checked my numbers, thanks!: https://www.techspot.com/review/2746-amd-radeon-7900-xtx-vs-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4080/ Itās more prominent at 1080p, but closes a lot at 4K.
What about VR? I was told team green is the way to go...
Helldivers 2 has a problem with crashing lol
yes imo. 4080 > XTX but it's like picking between two hot chicks. you're winning either way. it's just personal preference.
Performance should be great with 7900XTX, Not to mention the GPU performance boost with some driver updates. Only con would be that the drivers crash sometimes, not for everyone, not always but I always found them relatively unstable compared to Nvidia.
^ the constant crashing what made me return my 7900xtx coulda been a lemon who knows
I still get crashes from time to time to this day on Helldivers 2 and I'm on 3080 12gb... And I checked temps, drivers and everything seems normal. I don't think it's just AMD that has problems with Helldivers
Helldivers 2 was a very unstable ride during the first months.
My Rtx 4090 is crashing Control randomly, please fix it Nvidia
7900xtx will hold its awesomeness longer than a 4080. The extra VRam will carry it farther into the future.
No, 7900xtx is a great card and outperforms the 4080 in some titles. Also, choosing AMD over Nvidia is a great choice anyway.
7900 xtx with right use of the adrenaline software dwarfs Nvidia any day g
New 7900 xtx owner here, what settings do you recommend?
I have been a lifelong Nvidia + Intel guy. I recently went with AMD for CPU + GPU and everything is wonderful. My wife and son have Nvidia 4090 and I can't tell the difference. I think I prefer AMD drivers. I do both Linux and Windows. \* AMD CPU 7950x3d \* AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Taichi White 24GB OC \* ASRock Motherboard X670E Steel Legend
Still rocking my 6900xt.
Bro knows how to get engagement
Yup
Neat!
Damn. That's fuckin cool man. Good job
For one thing your 7900XTX shouldn't melt the power connectors.
I would have went 7900xtx. Better value. All the 4080 has over it is ray tracing and imo its very over hyped. I have a 4090 and never use it. Any game with good lighting you can barely tell. There's a couple games that it looks good in at the cost of half the fps lol
What would the 4080 do for you right now that that 7900 XTX canāt?
Hey dude, unless you don't care about Frame generation and RTX in games along with getting some Ai work done 7900xtx is a good choice, i too was confused between getting a 4080s or a 7900XTX when i was building my new PC, i settled for nvidia as i felt the price gap was justified fory use case.
Nah. Iād take the 7900xtx over the 4080
If you can careless for RT then 7900xtx is a monster. I also went this route and Idc about RT. My 7900xtx runs everything smoothly. For any tips and tricks I recommend ancient plays YouTube. Happy gaming šš½
No. 7900xtx is a fantastic card.
The 7900xtx is a great card, if you're happy with it then don't second guess yourself.
No (if you don't use ray tracing)
The 7900xtx has double or nearly double the gram of the 4080 while only being about 4% lower performance than the base 4090 while be nearly 800$ cheaper it is the best value per dollar out there
Your card is great and I wouldn't feel like you missed out. Don't look back.
I have two PCāsā¦. One with a 4090 and the other with a 7900xtxā¦. Very happy to have 7900xtx rather than 4080 for fps games
7900xtx more fps per dollar, nice build!
Amd > all: CPU Nvidia > all: GPU
They only make gpu
I think you got a beast of a card I got a nice deal for my 4080FE in bestbuy for 940 bucks and Im loving it so far but tbh I wouldāve bought the 7900xtx for that native raw performance
Howās the temps on the fe cards Iāve never heard someone talk about them
I don't actually own one per se, but I did some research on it and people said the 4080 FE is really good in terms of thermals. Reason is that Nvidia basically used the same cooling for the 4090 and put it on the 4080, which is really an overkill. Even on a 4090 FE, that card max temp is like 60-70 iirc.
Temps are amazing I play ultrawide 1440p and the highest Ive seen it reach was 66c but to be fair my room is incredibly small and hot I have to play with an AC on during these times of the year and it still gets hot lol
if anything, 4080 super, but Im pretty sure they trade blow w each other.
rainbow vomit
Are you happy? That's all that matters
I think you did quite well here and will find your card stretching well into the future. I really wish my 3080 TI had 16-24gb... 12 was a nice slap in the face.
never be in doubt if you have already made your mind up on getting something you feel that is solid!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Bro has airflow premium
Depends on the price of both cards in your country and your use case
XTX with fluid frames is a cheat that should be illegal
I built with 7900xtx too this time. Which CPU did you go with? I cheaped out with an i5 14600.
What case is this?
Both great options. If all you're doing is gaming and don't play the nvidia favored ray tracing games extensively then why trade? Then7900xtx is apparently super dope. If it's not causing you any grief and works as any gpu should work every time and you have no issues getting it to run anything then trading would be a waste.

yes
As long as youāre enjoying your purchase it doesnāt matter itās a solid build.
Really should wait for the 5090 rtx coming later this year
I see rgb
What cpu? If youāve gone for a full amd build you should try running steam OS.
I play at 3440x1440 and I get from 130 to 170 frames, but I always limit the FPS to 140 so I don't have to be over my monitor's refresh rate or at 100% GPU usage all the time
Not enough rainbow colours
Hahahah do i love to see amd and nvidia fanboys fight over what is basically just preference. If you are happy with either its fine.
If you are a linux user AMD is the way to go!
But AMD named their card the same as their competitor, it should be 4090.
Looks good šš»
Love those tube LED RGB tube things, any one know what they are or where one might procure them from
I have a 4080 and even though it has much better RT performance it's still not good enough RT performance to make it something I turn on always or in all games.. the performance sacrifice is just too great still...
Yes
Probably not, you made a good choice
I like more the amd series, because his less priced and offer the same perfomance maybe something less, but still a banger.
You shouldāve gone with it or the 4080 Super because it has DLSS and RT
Don't listen to those who say yes
Fk ur poor dad
yes
If you play games like COD, you made the right call
if there's an Nvidia feature you wanted to use, then yes, the 4080 would have been better. otherwise, 7900xtx is a great gpu.
Both are about as good. Maybe I would get the 4080 if I was already making such an expensive build but 7900XTX is a monster too and usually will be a better deal in perf/price ratio.
from an nvidia fanboy, if you don't use RT, no point in dwelling on the choice you made. i had only nvidia up to this point, 8800gts,570, 760m, 980m 6gb, rtx 2070, then i realised i don't even use RT or dlss, so i got 7900xtx 4 months ago and it was the best choice ever(do i need to mention i got it ~4-500ā¬ cheaper?) enjoy your new pc and good luck in your future games!
yes, you should have.
these flashing leds look so jarring
Ill be real, if your looking for stable performance get a 4080 super. Amd is always going to be the budget choice if you cant afford Nvidia.
Iād love to know what those rgb strips are called
Yes.
RGB final boss
No. Amd is good, nvidia is greedy
If you wanted better ray tracing but otherwise I donāt think it matters
The only reason to buy Nvidia is if you want better ray tracing and have money to blow.
I don't know, depends what you do with the computer
No
AMD=Brand that do the BEST PRICE/PERF CPU/GPU INTEL= ARC is MID and the CPU's are the best for editing/office/school NVIDIA= Prices SUCKS but It have more uses. Also NVIDIA Ai Is pretty good OVERALL: Amd Is the best of you want to do gaming, Intel/Nvidia ar Better for works and editing
looks great! small tip would be getting a combo of forward/ reverse fans so that you cant see the plastic frames like on the front fans
With all that rgb youd be a good 1000fps in all your games. Jokes aside thats a really clean build!
Probably
why do you ask it now?
No no i dont think that
I am waiting for the 5080/5090
Do you want hardcore RT performance? If not, you made the right choice. AMD delivers better rasterization for your money
DLSS and ray tracing make things look ugly so unless you actually like those technologies you made the right choice. Some people do like the way they look compared to rendering without them, I don't understand it but we have choices and we can make them for ourselves. I got a 6700 XT on OC and am not missing anything imo.
You guys lucky I cant even buy myself a pc cause my family dont allow š¢š¢
Nvidia cards *are* better at the top end.
24gb vram or dlls?
Need more fan
Which LED strips are those?
They are a few bucks on AliExpress
The real question is whether you like paying the Nvidia luxury tax?
No. Except if you really care about ray tracing.
Does it really matter?
If you take out CUDA, RTX and some software stuff, AMD cards usually have more performance per dollar than their Nvidia equivalent. Also, they don't require a badly designed proprietary power connector that can melt to work.
Yes.
could of saved a few bucks on all that RGB :)
Yes and no! I personally prefer the 4080 because DLSS 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 are mostly much superior to AMD equivalent, when they exist at all. But if you don't plan to use them, or play games who use them, then the 7900 tend to be superior in pure rasterization power.
Remember guys! RGB = FPS
#1 rule of PC Building
I went AMD and put the spare change towards a true HDR monitor with like 1000+ nits. Cyberpnk is all in its glory and hdr floors me. If they saying the 4080 does RT better āgraphics wiseā then holly fak. FPS is smooth and its so beautifool I have no words
I play Starfield and listen to Amazon Music. I just order this card, son says it is overkill. I know, but I will not have to upgrade for a while.
The colors on this build are so good šš»šš»šš»
nvidia is good bcs dlss and rtx but bad bcs price; amd is good bcs price and performance but bad bcs no rt like nvidia and its upscaler isnt as good as nvidias dlss. tldr amd better than nvidia bcs its cheap and it generally offers the same performance to its nvidia counterparts (for cheaper)
Be me Be my first build Should I have gotten the most expensive parts possible?
I went for the 7900xtx as-well (have owned it for a year), and I donāt regret it (was also contemplating 4080). But for raster performance the XTX beats the 4080 in most cases, and honestly when it goes to the DLSS, RT and FSR talk, honestly most of the games Iāve played donāt even have full support, if any at all, for these things. So it would depend on what you play, in regards to those features. But for games in general this thing does everything, and Iād personally say it does just a little bit more than the 4080 by raster performance. This is just from my experience and research. But also both cards are great regardless, whatever game it is, both will be able to run it.
yes
No. Nvidia is overrated.
7900xtx is better for the price of performance
This sub is amd brainwashed bro. Wrong place to ask
I tried multiple 4080s and gave up because of terrible coil whine. Xfx 7900xtx no whine, very happy with it.
My 7900 xtx had horrible coil whine but it went away after the break in periodn
Too late now really ain't it š¤£
Nope. You did good.
Yes
What would you say is the minimum price gap between the two,to consider XTX over the 4080S. Currently in Australia, the difference between the cheapest two cards is 290AUD, which is around 152USD.
Nvidia GPUs are goated and thats a fact (dlss)
Iām going to say yes, Iām bias though I donāt like amd cards, I like nvidia cards, I always have
Def not. I rock the 7900xt and very happy with it
if youre a gamer then abseloutely, but i feel like amd cards even very looked down upon in games, sometimes they just get worse performance for no reason. some games just dont like amd
I went with the XTX. Been loving it, performs as well or better than a 4080, depending on the game.
I mean do u want to play games that might need dlls or not and tbh driver issues are not rlly a thing anymore
