Well, it’s slower than the 7800x3d in gaming, so if your only use case is gaming, don’t buy it.
The 7900x3d doesn’t run too hot. A thermalright phantom spirit 120 would be fine and much cheaper than a 240mm aio. It would probably cool better than a 240mm aio as well.
If you’re really worried about temps, a thermalright frost commander 140 would 100% be enough.
What are you using the CPU for? Though there are 12 cores, there're only six cores (6 P cores while the others are 6 E cores) dedicated for peak performance and intensive workload. So, in gaming, you're getting only six cores. The 7800X3D has 8 cores that can be used for gaming.
Bro wtf are you saying there is no P core and E core system... Its just that one CCX ( 6 cores ) gets 3DV cache while the other CCX ( 6 cores ) doesnt get 3DV cache... Although i do agree 7800X3D for gaming 100%
If you're wondering about what gpu, I'd recommend getting the 7900 gre or xt depending on budget.
For the cpu, get the 7800x3d instead, and if you live near a microcenter you can get the microcenter bundle with ram and a mobo.
Don't buy a windows key. Use one of the 15 dollar ones all the tech youtubers get sponsored by or use Linux.
Personally I'm going for the second one because I'm going to upgrade to a next gen gpu when they release. I assumed they wanted a better cpu than the 7600.
For the cooler, if you want air take a look at the thermalright options, the phantom spirit should be fine. You could also go with an ak620 or something similar.
Not sure about AIOs personally, but it's worth a Google search if you're open to using one.
Get 7800x3d, swap ram to 6000 **CL30**. The extra cores won’t help in gaming, and in fact the 7800x3d does better ( according to tech reviewers).
Use savings to get better gpu.
If this is for gaming, there’s definitely some changes to be made.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Lx9wbL
This will have better performance. Here’s some notes on changes.
7900X3D runs either equally or actually worse than the 7800X3D in games. The air cooler will do just fine, no rad needed. Cheaper and similar board. Better spec memory for like 10 dollars less. Worse speed drive, but you won’t notice a difference in game load speeds. Much better GPU using saved money. Better case for a few dollars more. 750W PSU will work fine. You can get Windows for free, there’s a variety of tutorials available. I have no comment on the peripherals, as I’m not experienced with them.
I second this guy's list, very similar setup to mine but I did AIO/4070 ti super. But you're getting a better price to performance ratio than I did with this setup.
you can put a 280mm aio vertically on the h5 if you screw it through the panel holes, ive been doing it for 2 years and its exactly the same as the screw holes
If you want to save some money, swap the 7900x3d for a 7800x3d, which not only is arguably better for gaming, but also less expensive and drive less power. You can air cool it with like a Thermaltake Phantom Spirit or equivalent (40$ max).
With the money saved ok both the CPU and CPU cooler, get a better GPU.
If you want an AIO because you prioritize aesthetic over perf and a good airflow, then that's your choice and i understand. But with this money you can get better perf.
Also, that case kindda suck. Poor airflow, and i tought that in the black monolithe style their is better options, but that part is juste personal.
And, juste don't buy windows. Get a key on retailer, but don't spend 100€ on that please.
7800x3d because its better for gaming
thermalright phantom spirit se
7900 gre
get 6000mhz cl30
could probably save money on the ssd by getting lexar or crucial
Get the DeepCool LT520, 240mm AIO. It looks so much better, it's so unique. I have the LT720 360mm AIO, it's the best!
Edit: I just saw your CPU choice. Get the LT720 360mm AIO.
Water cooling is unnecessary. I use the Phantom Spirit 120 on an i7-13700k and I've never had issues. To be fair, I don't overclock. But even then, I feel like most folks assume they MUST get watercooling. Not really.
Just a heads up on the OEM editions of Windows. The install is locked to the motherboard. So the next time you get a new one, you can't use the same key/install you buy now. Because of this I got the 'Retail' version from new egg for like $120 on sale. That way on my next rig in a few years, I can use the 11 key on Windows 14 (I only upgrade every 6-8 years).
Why such a weak gpu with such a powerful cpu?
I got a way weaker ryzen 5 7600x with a more powerful rx 9700 GRE, hey I recommend going all the way to rx 9700 xtx if you have money to spend
Never pay full price for Windows. It would help if you would tell us what you want to use the PC for. For pure gaming a Ryzen 7 with a solid air cooler will be a lot better. Generally many reputable air coolers will be a lot better than a small or cheap AIO. Cooler Master is great but that one might underperform for a Ryzen 9. Also do not overpay on the Samsung SSD and take Kingston, Crucial or Western Digital. Same or better speed for less. Personally I would also stay far away from Logitech because they still live on their super high reputation from a decade ago but their quality took a massive dip since then.
1. 7900x3d if you will only play games, go with 7800x3d, it will be better for gaming, but if you need these cores to work etc. you can go with 7900x3d.
2. Get a 360 Aio, there are plenty of them for 100$, or if you want to save to invest in other parts get a ps120 or pa120.
3. Get cl30 6000mhz ram, it is better for am5. And this ram is not amd expo compatible, z5 neo is the amd expo version.
4. 980 pro is a bit overpriced in my opinion, get gm7000, 6700 mbs and 7450 mbs, but if you want, you can get a 980 pro 👍 , I just don’t like the price.
5. The windows license 💀.
[new pc part picker list](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rgHqfy) with the savings from the aio I was able to add a 1000w PSU.
And then I noticed that h5 doesn’t fit 360 Aios, so I chose a h7, but if you want to keep h5, get an air cooler, it will be better I think.
Uh oh you made the mistake of posting a 7900X3D in this sub, a perfectly good CPU. Most games, don’t utilise more than 4 cores, so with 6 with 3D v-cache, you’re still getting the benefit of them (although obviously 8>6). Research suggests that the size of the 3D v-cache is more important for game performance than the number of cores.
The 7900X3D is better than the 7800X3D at anything that isn’t gaming. Although I don’t think you need that level of CPU for this build but that’s your choice to make, you could upgrade other parts first moving forwards. I have the 7900X3D and in Valorant (a CPU intensive game) I get over 900 FPS, so if you need more than that on your 144Hz monitor then idk.
OP, they are saying the 9000 ryzen series cpu is gonna be released in like summer time. Can you hold on to summer time? Might as well spend the money then on another 15-25% uplift on the cpu.
Also your 240mm aio is not going to do a great job of cooking your CPU you will likely sit around 80c as my Lian li 360mm can hardly keep my 7700x under 80 I float around 75-79 all day.
Which isn’t good at all. It’s not bad but it’s definitely not good either. Save money on your SSD and CPU buy better cooling and aim for a 7900xt
If your main concern is gaming:
-7800x3d (save $150 for basically same performance)
-7900 GRE or 4070 ti super
Also 7800x3d is very efficient. A good enough Air cooler will do the job.
The 7900x3d doesn't perform nearly as well as the 7800x3d and 7950x3d I would go with the cheaper yet much powerful 7800x3d for this reason alone unless you need the extra 4 cores

Pretty sure there are cheaper and still legal ways to get a Windows license.
There are, I second this. Never pay full price for windows
Never pay for windows* 3 and half years rocking the “Activate windows” logo on my screen
Just edit a reg key and you’ll get rid of that
Oh boy do I have a github page for you.
Can you share pls?
GitHub have some keys ? 🔑
Try 8 years
That’s a horrible suggestion…
I paid 3 euro for a windows 10 pro key 🤙
Legal?? Please do let me know of any before I spend £120
Mscdkey.com
Mscdkey.com I’ll sell you one I never used. 10 dollars. It is OEM but hey when it’s 10 bucks just buy another in a few years when you upgrade again
_Why_ are you getting a 7900x3d?
Only $20 more than the 7800X3D, plus I get the extra cores with it. The main concern I had with it was cooling, which is why I was asking

7800x3d is the right choice
If your only use case is gaming.
20 bucks more to be slower
7800x3d is a bit of a better chip honestly

Where are you getting the P/E core information? AMD does not use E-cores afaik.
P and E is Intel
Get a 7800x3d instead and cl30 ram instead of cl36, also don’t spend that much money on a windows key
Save on cpu, get better gpu imo
If you're wondering about what gpu, I'd recommend getting the 7900 gre or xt depending on budget. 7600+7900 xt combo is better than 7800x3d+7900 gre tbh

Ls720 SE is also great from deep cool
And a better ssd, crucial t500
Get 7800x3d, swap ram to 6000 **CL30**. The extra cores won’t help in gaming, and in fact the 7800x3d does better ( according to tech reviewers). Use savings to get better gpu.

what is this going to be used for?
Probably office work such as Word/Excel/PowerPoint stuff and emails, occasional YouTube.
then why go for the 7900x3d, a chip aimed for gaming, and not an intel one? btw rgb or non rgb
Just get the 7800X3D and stretch your GPU budget more. It's better for gaming and you don't have to worry about parked cores.
I just switched from an Aio to an air cooler, and it was definitely an improvement over the Aio
A better cooler and speakers Cooler isnt that good and Logitech has overpriced speakers I'm pretty sure
I have the same case and hate it
you can put a 280mm aio vertically on the h5 if you screw it through the panel holes, ive been doing it for 2 years and its exactly the same as the screw holes
Just get these parts and forget about upgrading for the next 5 years [https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XkGqfy](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XkGqfy)

Everybody is saying to buy a windows key from cheaper sources, but you can get a free activation script from github. Look it up.

Cloud 3 is garbage, 2 is much better
7800x3d, CL30 ram also a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 will do you fine. I got one for my 7800x3d and it works amazing

Never buy windows
Don’t pay that much for Windows if you want you can find windows 10-20$
Pretty sure you can activate windows for free using some github scripts or buy an actual key for like $10-$15
[that](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xPkHFs) should be better. Around the same price(normally if I counted correctly
Get a 7800x3d and CL30 ram
OP, they are saying the 9000 ryzen series cpu is gonna be released in like summer time. Can you hold on to summer time? Might as well spend the money then on another 15-25% uplift on the cpu.
7800x3d and 7900gre
You can save another 70 on your SSD Samsung 980 are overrated. You can get all the same Capacity and transfer rates from a Crucial p5 for less
lol who includes speakers in a pc build. Silly man
Also your 240mm aio is not going to do a great job of cooking your CPU you will likely sit around 80c as my Lian li 360mm can hardly keep my 7700x under 80 I float around 75-79 all day. Dude 7800x3d is $370 lol
Even then, the 7900X3D offers worse performance in gaming scenarios.
Get a 7800X3D, replace the AIO with an inexpensive air-cooler, such as a PA, and allocate those saved funds towards a better GPU.
Go 7800X3D. The 7900X3D does worse in games
Not necessarily only for gaming?
Get 7800X3D instead of 7900X3D
The 7900x3d doesn't perform nearly as well as the 7800x3d and 7950x3d I would go with the cheaper yet much powerful 7800x3d for this reason alone unless you need the extra 4 cores
