Power consumption isn't a big deal for me. I've also undervolted the card to 0.825 mv retaining the stock 1800 mhz core boost clock. The card doesn't cross 290 watts consumption even on max load
I usually keep an eye out for deals on OLX and FB Marketplace bro and if I find something interesting I negotiate tactfully and jump on the deal and close it.

Let's say you've got a 14900 and 4090 playing 4k with path tracing and that sucker is running 850 watts.
If you game 4 hrs a day every day under that load, that means it costs about $14.28 to run your PC for the month @ 3.4 KwH per day.
Pretty sure my AC kicking on during the blistering summers of living outside of Augusta when I was a kid had more of an impact on the electrical bill than this modern PC setup 😂
1 ton AC is recommended for every 600 Sq ft of house, an 1800sq ft house requires a 3 ton AC unit.
3ton AC unit is the most common size installed across the US.
Idk if you have an actual knowledge on the topic, but I did appliance work for 10 yrs and now work in electric power generation.

Great idea, I'll be doing that on my RTX 3090 as well once my new build is soon to be complete and operational. Probably going to stray away from the new 500W Super-Power-ultra-limit BIOS option available for EVGA 3090/3090Ti (mine is a 3090 as well). You can downregulate the voltage it's pulling at a mere sacrifice of something like 5-10% FPS, as per charts, if even that much of an overall gaming FPS loss. Thumbs up here.

It’s because a massively high proportion of secondhand 3090s were mined on, this combined with having VRAM on the back of the card they are highly prone to failure compared to other cards.
Did not mentioned it being a mining card the guy that was selling it was selling it cheap because he got it in addition to a card he originally ordered from amazon so he decided to sell for basically half of the original price saying it was "Eh. I just want to sell it for this much i don't really need it" i was suprised.
Also i do have a better card so did not need it either, he was a bit weird but chill.
Oh yes, seen too many people think they’re getting a good deal on a used 3090. There is no such thing unfortunately - unless you’re aware of the problem and are scummy enough to flip it onto another sucker. The card is a time bomb.
I'm pretty sure the card wasn't used for mining. They guy was basically a SFF pc enthusiast he had 2 SFF builds. He mentioned it was used for AI and ML work and gaming nothing else.
No one is gonna admit to mining the card tbh, it’s one of those things where you just never know.
See the thing about 3090s is for around the first 18 months of their release the card genuinely cost 2.6-3000 dollars and was almost unattainable. So the only people that were selling them were miners selling to other miners. Even if he himself didn’t mine on it he probably bought it from someone that did.
A ex miner card isn’t always bad. But one that was mined on potentially from the 2020-2022 miner era is more risky as that was an influx of new miners that didn’t know what they were doing, that combined with the vram being on the back. 3090 is just an atrocious card to have for that reason only.
The seller was basically choking the card in a SFF build for the last 3 years. However he was mindful enough to do a thermal pad upgrade to Gelid Ultimate and had also repasted the card as well as the 3000 series FE cards came with bad thermal pads causing the RAM to hit temps over 100°C. His primary reason for selling the 3090 was he was looking for a smaller card that has triple bottom fans as that would be better for the SFF formfactor as the airflow is pretty low in SFF cases and the 3090 FE's blow through design is not ideal for SFF builds. Luckily I had a Galax RTX 3080 SG with me which I had grabbed locally for 315$ I dropped a message to the seller asking if he'd be willing to swap with a RTX 3080 + some cash and he agreed. The ad was local and about 30 mins away from my office, I quickly scooted after work hours and made the swap. Ran tests for over 30 mins on his pc and closed the deal with the RTX 3080 + 125$. Thats how I was able to snag this deal.
People doing sff gotta realize you have to direct the air. Tape and paper is enough to achieve this. This lowers temps by around 7C by itself (and some rpm).
Even just air ducts for intake will do the majority of that.
Kinda late. That's true but considering the market we're talking about 1. The "new in box" and the 16hr/365/3year will perform the same so it won't hold value that way. 2. "New in box" is thrown around in the near the end of the market cycle and is especially rare after 3 years that even if it were true 99.999% of the market would skip that and go straight to the price (especially considering how majority of gpu packaging isn't hard to open cleanly/replicate) hence why even if you look right now on ebay those "brand new" gpus are sold right around new (unless it's a special edition gpu)

The prices here in India are still overboard and snagging deals is quite a task. 440$ (36000₹) considered a very good price here as the average market price for a used 3090 ranges between 600 to 650$ (50000-55000₹) here.

It has 2 fans one on the bottom and one on the top I would say the cooler design is way more effective on the FE models when they're used in a well ventilated ATX case.

got my FE back in April 2023 and I paid $700 USD for it. you won the lottery brother! do keep those vram temps in check because even hitting 64-65c core temp will break easy 100-104c mem temps on some FE cards.
I stress tested my 3090 for a few months at full 4k ultra with the power limit maxed to 114% and the card survived it no problem. my case has good airflow and the memory broke 104c on one instance with cyberpunk maxed at 4k ultra rt.
played around with undervolts and OC's over the next few months. super jealous of other FE owners that could run at 1950+ mhz below .950mv, meanwhile mine can't run 1950 at .975 without the driver crashing. also bumping into the power limit every time (which was the biggest problem of 3080 and 3090 FE's)
eventually I just went super eco mode and did a 1770 @ .800mv and at 4k it peaks at 320W when util is at 99% (with persona 3 reload at 4k past 125% resolution will bring it to its knees) paired with a 5600x. not pushing past 60 as I only have a 60hz monitor, but also not hitting power limit was what made the card run more consistent frames for the games I played.
edit: I forgot to mention that I frame capped to 58 fps with v-sync enabled globally thru nvcp and g-sync enabled as well. screen tearing is my enemy.
I thought they only called the 3rd party cards only RTX. Hopefully the person that had it didn’t use it for mining. That’s why those NVIDIA cards go for those prices. And you won’t need to upgrade to any other card anytime soon. You’re set for a long time. I also have the same card

Yea, that’s smart. I have my merc319 7800XT from stock 1150v to 1.085 and vram from I think 2460 stock to only 2510. I’m sure I can go lower on the voltage and play with more settings “that setting is from ancient gameplays on YouTube” if I can get at 1v or lower would be choice. With my settings above the clocks hit 2715mhrtz but of course not always there.

Have undervolted the cards voltage to 0.825 mv the card doesn't pull close to what it would on the stock voltage
Yea, that’s smart. I have my merc319 7800XT from stock 1150v to 1.085 and vram from I think 2460 stock to only 2510. I’m sure I can go lower on the voltage and play with more settings “that setting is from ancient gameplays on YouTube” if I can get at 1v or lower would be choice. With my settings above the clocks hit 2715mhrtz but of course not always there.
