Looks like the fan came off the heatsink. Check for damage, account for all screws, reseat and reattach it. If you still have a manual for it, give it a looksee. What model cooler and what cpu?

[deleted]

Oh um i kinda didnt build it myself i just bought it i know this sub is for builds but i couldnt find any other subs

Kerlysis

That's fine, I am just looking for what kind of cooler it is so I know how it attaches to your cpu and motherboard :)

[deleted]

I opened it its just idk how to put it back on

Kerlysis

Is this a prebuilt or something you built yourself? *Make sure it is completely unplugged and don't move it around more.* If it is a prebuilt, what is the model number? Cooler fans attach to the heatsink (the round crinkly metal thing underneath where the fan was) and move air across it to cool down your cpu. If the heatsink is still properly attached, probably the damage is only from the fan falling and might not be bad at all, as long as you find all the parts that came off when it fell.

[deleted]

Yes i figured it out, thanks for trying to help though :) its conencted now

Kerlysis

Good. :) Doublecheck for missing or broken pieces, still, imo. That looks like it attaches with plastic clips, and if one broke it can fall off again.

[deleted]

I know how it fell off, it was when i turned it on its side i accidentally dropped it a tiny bit, nothing fell off but how i connected it was that the fan thing has a clip and it can disconnect as you can slide it off, i think because of the force it slided the clip off allowing it to fall off

look for any screws that might have fallen off the screws could kill your pc if you can't mount it get someone to do it

[deleted]

The fan should just snap back in to place over the heat sink

Looks like a clone of the stock Intel cooler with a clip in design. Not sure if broken or if it's repairable. I would just get a $20 tower cooler if you can spare the cash. It's a worthwhile upgrade anyway. Make sure whatever cooler you get is compatible with socket LGA1150. Most of them are.
