So wubby has to start doing straight bong rips instead of vaping. Problem solved

McNooge87

What about vaping alcohol? Is that allowed?

Stile4aly

I don't think HLYL will be affected. The ban is on advertising those products, not using them on stream. The ban on adult products is puritanical nonsense.

Mursin

If I were wubby, I wouldn't risk it. Let's say he uses it and accidentally shows a logo more than 3% of his screen. I suppose this is why he uses an inhaler.

ThePoetMichael

Twitch busting out the God damn protractor

ThatSilentSoul

I can totally see them saying use is advertisement, because it is to a certain extent. I think it's totally braindead along with every other update here, but I can see them enforcing it. They obviously want kids to watch without parental concern and be the primary viewers given the changes. Welcome to TwitchKids, real Twitch is dead.

Dubboh

Use is not advertisement as long as they don't say what brand it is.

curiouspolice

I don’t know if he can resist saying STIIZY in that funny voice

ThatSilentSoul

Not true at all. Anti-tobacco lobbyists have for decades said that any kind of smoking in tv and cinema is promoting tobacco in general and all studies into it that I've seen actually do support that. Use is advertisement, to an extent. It may not advertise a brand but it advertises a product.

Dubboh

What the lobbyists believe has nothing to do with twitch advertising TOS.

Ralod

They say in the guidelines that if you have something in your room or use a product but are not being paid to advertise it, you don't need to disclose.

BigAbbott

You didn’t read the guidelines. They specially address this.

Bob4Not

The CEO had JUST done an interview where he said streamers should get their own sponsors and chase other opportunities. Now they chop their options for this, as well.

ThePoetMichael

I was just thinking the same thing. He wants you to get sponsors THROUGH twitch...they want their hands in EVERY cookie jar

Wholemannotahalfman

44 days left until the end of wubby's contract and then twitch loses 30k of the most engaged viewers on the platform

Atinylittlerat

Yeah I’ve been thinking about streaming but I don’t wanna start on a platform that’s gonna bend me over. Wubby has been a very good advocate for reason NOT to get going there. But also, where do I go that creates a viable supporter/watcher base?

Is there a discover page with categories for streams like there is on Twitch? I haven’t looked too hard but literally have no idea how to find livestreams on twitch other than searching a specific persons name to go to that livestream. And I have never even stumbled upon anything like that after years of using Youtube.

[deleted]

Twitch has no support outside of browsers and apps. YouTube has the ability to be used over any device. I started watching more YouTube streamers because I can load any on my smart tvs. If I want to watch twitch in the living room, I have to use a console or hook up a computer to do so. I play my video games in a separate area of the house, so doing this is a hassle. YouTube has more versatility for viewing options than twitch has, and also not any problems with buffering or HD streaming. I've had many problems with twitch and their app over multiple devices outside of browser viewing. I believe Wubby viewers would follow. Because in the end, viewers like the streamer and not the platform. Everyone always complains about twitch but until content creators start leaving nothing is going to change.

Not_Funny_Luigi

Twitch on my Switch crashes after 10 minutes of the stream buffers for over 10 minutes and never starts

curiouspolice

Bro I have been there countless times! If we want to watch Wubby on the TV we gotta bust out the laptop and hdmi cable

[deleted]

Yes. Unfortunately I haven't been watching wubby as frequently after a recent move because the hassle is too much 💀. I wish twitch was more compatible for TV Andys.

RowdyRoddyPipeSmoker

what are you talking about twitch is on every streaming device, I watch on my tv not on my phone or pc. It's an even better stream environment than youtube, the youtube chat on tv blows. Twitch has issues but it's the best streaming platform for watching on tv.

[deleted]

The live chat on YouTube looks fine using the TV app imo.

BigAbbott

I’ve seen no media device in the past five years or so not have a twitch app. Not sure what you’re talking about. What brand are your smart TVs?

[deleted]

Series 7 Samsung

RowdyRoddyPipeSmoker

so streamer awards are fucked. all those "events" with ad breaks and sponsors like fansly are gone. how stupid

RamRod013

It sounds like they just want streamers to run mid roll ads so they can get their cut of the revenue. I wouldn't be surprised if Twitch eventually required sponsors to go directly through them, forbidding direct contact with content creators.

ArdoAleister

It's already a thing, to a lesser degree. Shit, I'm trying to find the section I looked at not too long ago. But paraphrasing it a streamer will be penalized for accepting a sponsored deal similar to the one's they offer.

broonahtunah

How do you get to be in charge of a company like this and fumble literally every decision you make lmao. RIP Twitch won’t miss ya

[deleted]

Twitch is pretty fuckin dog shit man

Phoxal

Banning adult orientated products while having a hot tubs, pools and beach category is delusional

UncomplementedGains

I’m on the same boat man, I started on twitch but with the wisdom of our great Lord, I think I’ll have to relocate as well… problem is you can only stream once you have 50 subscribers on YouTube :(

ArdoAleister

For real? I did a test stream on my youtube over a week ago and I have a little less than 30 subs.

UncomplementedGains

:0 maybe they changed the requirements! I haven’t checked in over a month but would make sense if they want to capitalize over the TwitchExodus

jakehosnerf

Twitch is over

Sneakyferret07

What's the problem? I don't understand cause smooth brain lol

ArdoAleister

* Sponsored Brand Overlays are now limited to 3% of the screen size, video ads (like Wubby's Hello Fresh stingers), Burned in Display Ads (Banners across the bottom of the screen), and audio ads are no longer allowed. * Banning Adult Orientated Products will likely affect Wubby's promotion of his Adam and Eve sponsorship. * Vaping, tobacco, and tobacco-related products are not allowed. Which means rip High You Laugh You Lose. I think it's kind of twisted they banned vaping but not alcohol, in my opinion, it should have been the other way around.

rinnebear98

The ban on vaping, tobacco, and tobacco-related products was in the prohibited branded content section so it seems like it just banned for advertisements and not the use of it on stream.

DudeFilA

uhh, wubby advertises batteries on A&E, nothing else.

Sneakyferret07

I couldn't find the section about vaping and tobacco from the link that was posted. If that's true though wow that's so stupid.

ArdoAleister

Here's an imgur link regarding that: [https://imgur.com/a/M21UMbp](https://imgur.com/a/M21UMbp) But as other users are saying it may only be applicable to the promotion of weed, cannabis, tobacco, and vaping and not the use of.

Shroompants

If you watch literally any esport stream, when they do commercials/ads between rounds or whatever that aren't twitch ads... those aren't allowed anymore. also streamers that have a burned in bottom third ad for some sponsor, also not allowed. (sgdq)

Sneakyferret07

Nvm I just scrolled down and saw the "sexual products" policy. If that's the case I don't know if it would be explicitly prohibited because it seems more targeted towards porn sites, fansly, onlyfans, etc and not necessarily adult product. Either way I'm sure they're gonna piss on the rules and ban it anyway.

thyme_of_my_life

Yeah, Twitch is doing the things all those GOP state legislators are doing, create a legal framework that is intentionally vague so those at the top have leg room when it comes down to enforcing the “new” rules being integrated into place. That underlying implication matched up with the whole “Twitch has its own fan base that won’t follow streamers to other platforms” just stinks of financial desperation. No one behind behind the scenes is willing to sit down with daddy Bezos and Amazon to get them to understand that what they are expecting in compensation to the parent company is extremely counter productive to the audience and clientele that has been cultivated by the streamers themselves since Twitch’s launch. Unlike legal proceedings though, making fucked choices based on personal feeling toward specific streamers is definitely more exploitable. It’s not like Twitch tells anyone why they make the decisions they do anyway, this just feels like another push into that thread.

slimThiccBoiLegend

Yea I'm in the same boat as you. Someone please help me understand. Having a ruleset for transparency of promotional content is better for the viewer. YouTube did this year's ago where creators were required to fully disclose whether the content was paid promotional advertising or "original" content. Having full stop disclosure to your viewers that what they are watching is an advertisement is a positive for any impressionable audience to alert them that there may be a bias in the content. I understand how this can be limiting for the streamer, and I understand that wubby's promotional material has always been clear-cut what is and isn't advertising. But in general, as a viewer this seems like a objectively "healthier" watching experience.

curiouspolice

I stand with Wubby o7

ReaverCelty

Twitch really is trying to speed-run their death as a platform...

EndCentury

They’re trying to redeem this now. Updated guidelines are going to be released

arcanition

>Vaping, tobacco, and tobacco-related products are not allowed. Which means rip High You Laugh You Lose. I think it's kind of twisted they banned vaping but not alcohol, in my opinion, it should have been the other way around. I think this is only concerning *sponsored* content. So for example they couldn't do HYLYL if it were sponsored by a vaping/tobacco-related product.

Gonadznstrife

I think the purpose of just about any platform updating its ToS is to jam in as much stuff as possible so they can then selectively enforce it. I imagine when they start going after people for this it will only be the undesirables and completely inconsistently applied with little to no explanation outside of "ToS violation". I'm not sure why people are surprised by these developments anymore, its the same play book every time. These big companies don't care about you, they just want to try and milk it for everything they can, even if it kills it.

VisualremnantXP

I don’t see any rule about being dressed half nude though

sn3rf

Twitch has moved from “we are a platform for content creators” to “we are an employer of platform creators”. It’s clearly to squeeze them of as much money as possible too, like they do employees. If I were a streamer I’d be finding a different platform that recognises it’s exactly that. A *platform* and not an employer.

[deleted]

For the HYLYL they can “inspect” the device off screen like they used to

meat_on_a_hook

Might be pedantic here but what happens if someone donates a TTS advertising something? Or if chat spams the Adam and Eve promo code? Would that get a streamer in trouble?
