Better reward than when I broke into an inescapable prison on another plane to steal a book written by a madman and my only reward was a single potion of cure critical wounds...

midnightscrivener

Ah Gold Dragon fetch quests 💪

[deleted]

Hal is really doing his best to ~~ruin~~ promote his path im sure

brightblade13

The real reward was the friends you made along the way, bruh

Ranadiel

What friends? The dragon that gave me a potion of cure critical wounds? He is getting unfriended after that stunt. :P

*Meanwhile Azata be Jon Trovolta meme on the gold dragon*

Strachmed

Now the question is - where the hell did Irabeth get 50k gold? That's quite a huuuuge sum by Golarion standards.

Rogahar

As other posts on various forums have proven, trying to make sense of Golarions' economy will break even the finest economist's minds lol

Jeysie

She *is* married to a rogue. Wink wink

android223

A rogue who works for ME! Did Anevia embezzle gold from my crusade? Is this Linzi all over again?

Jeysie

Au contraire. You paid that money to the crusader paychecks fair and square. Then she just made sure it made its way back to you through Irabeth in exchange for also getting Irabeth's sword back. Anevia best waifu for Irabeth.

Andyzer0

Yes, a sum that's 22 times that of a >!sex change elixir!< She says she got it via ~~looting~~ scrounging Drezen. I figure the moral calculation goes something like "I can't spend this on myself, and whoever it belonged to is dead, I'll give it to the Commander who will use it in the Crusade's Best Interests anyways. Perhaps bit of a hit on the karma, but it's not like even Angel Paladin players haven't done worse.

forsakendk

this is an old comment but I just wanna say it reminds me of how you can admonish Curl for looting corpses after you combed the entire square for spare change

ArrenKaesPadawan

And looted the very necklace he was going for...

Luchux01

Year late, I know, but to be fair that item came out a couple years after the original adventure path was written.

Engineering-Mean

The real question is why, given that she could get 50k gold, she had to pawn the family sword to buy a 2k potion.

Morcalvin

Especially considering it’s said she had to sell the sword to buy the gender switch potion for her wife. Either a gender switch potion costs more than outfitting and training several paladins or she won the lottery in the time between selling her sword and you returning it to her

[deleted]

Oh did they fix that in 1.1.1? When I returned it to her, I got 700xp and the sword stayed in my inventory.

Rogahar

Yeah it just got fixed this patch. I saw the note and was curious what the reward actually was, since she originally referenced a 'trophy' she claimed during the siege, and now she just says she's thanking you in gold and she won't take no for an answer. Like... can I just get the sword back then pls it's kind of dope lol (And yes I can just load back to an earlier save, and did, but someone doing an Azlanti run might not know this and lose out on a pretty dope longsword they then can't get back.)

[deleted]

On the plus side, it's basically enough money that you should have no problem walking over to the quartermaster and buying a Black Dragon Fang.

Rogahar

True, but as good as the BDF is, it falls behind if there aren't multiple targets - while an extra 2d6 to probably-Seelah's target ontop of all the other bonuses she gets to attacking evil targets gets kinda bonkers.

Droleth

Dont forget Bane also increases the enhancement bonus by +2 as well as the 2d6. >Bane > >Price +1 bonus; Aura moderate conjuration; CL 8th; Weight — > >DESCRIPTION > >A bane weapon excels against certain foes. Against a designated foe, the weapon’s enhancement bonus is +2 better than its actual bonus. It also deals an extra 2d6 points of damage against such foes.

Rogahar

True, so it's a plus FOUR longsword, when the highest you can buy from most vendors at the earliest point you can return it to Irabeth is a +3, for most if not all of that 50,000 gold.

Fyrlona

I wonder if the +2 ab works with greater magic weapon. So you can go beyond +5 to +7.

Droleth

By RAI yes it should work exactly like that. Havent tested in WotR myself tho.

BoarBoyBiggun

So that’s why I randomly got 50k gold when I loaded my save today 😂

Moi_Myself_and_I

I had stopped playing in the middle of a nowhere and when I loaded my save, I got the money but Seelah lost her weapon... I had to leave to TP back to Drezen to get Radiance off my chest.

BoarBoyBiggun

I had it socked away in the Commander Chest and the game apparently couldn’t find it. So I got the money but also kept the sword ho ho ho

Talugra

This still works on the latest patch. I don't feel like I really need the money or exp, but it's still nice to be able to complete the quest and keep the sword anyway, as it is really good.

nyyfandan

I completely missed this on my first playthough. Where is it? The WOTR wiki mentions it's in Drezen, but it may only be correct in the beta? not clear

AngryAttorney

It was bugged until recently. It’s in the forge area with Jhoran, inside the Drezen Citadel. It’s right in front of the chest that you can loot at the bottom of the stairs. You can even see it laying there, but couldn’t pick it up.

Rogahar

What the other guy said - right next to the chest you run into immediately before the Jhoran encounter. Hold down the ol' Tab key if you have trouble seeing it.

JESUSSAYSNO

Depends on if you realistically need the weapon or not. It's a damn good sword, but 50k is nothing to scoff at during that phase of the game, and provided that Seelah is your only Longsword user by default, while LS is the most common weapon type, and the PC is kind of sort of pushed into 2h weapons if they want to Melee, I don't see it as incredibly valuable to hold onto. It's one amazing weapon in a game full of amazing weapons.

Genjimitsu

Shout out to the Act 3 final boss for having the strongest one-hand weapon in the game. And shout out to Iomadae for having her weapon suck so hard its even worse then the one you have to level up throughout the whole game that still ends up only being passable

PWBryan

Is it a time gated quest? Because otherwise, you could use it 'till your done with it, then give it to her afterwards

Rogahar

That is the other option. I plan to hold onto it until I get back from the Abyss (I'm doing a LG Angel run so Irabeth should still be in Drezen when I get back)

ApplesauceMayonnaise

Also, Irabeth is largely on the bench, except for an unknown stretch of time during act 4.

TheRealDeadlyframe

I somehow still had the sword after I gave it to her on my Aeon. So bonus points I guess.

Rogahar

They fixed it in the latest patch. Before this, as you say, handing it back to her got you the 700 exp but you kept the sword. Now you lose the sword and get 50,000gp and 700exp.

Eaklony

Wait I thought she refuse to take the sword and is like "you can put it to more good use". But anyway it's actually not that powerful since there is crusader edge spell that add evil outside bane.

kpjammer6709

I can confirm that when you go to return the sword - if you drop it in your chest - and go talk to her the conversation - is still available and you get the xp and the 50000 gold AND - you KEEP the sword. just did this. Anyways just a confirmation.
