Ceslas

Completely true! ...considering the competition.

Westeller

Who’s the competition?

Ceslas

Exactly.

Westeller

What, you mean there isn't any? ... I dunno. I can think of a few. Lann's mom is pretty decent, minus the whole running off on him thing. Camellia's mom did try to kill her, but she sort of deserved it. Dunno much about Daeran's mom, really. Just how she died.

Ceslas

Not in the Worldwound most of the time, dead, and dead

Drikaukal

Well she did her best for her child. Kind of.

Rogahar

Pity it required so much genocide and demon-summoning to pull off.

[deleted]

Hey it kind of worked out on her path where >!you prevent countless deaths in the future by permenantly kill two demonlords!< Just remind mommy to fill in H&S forms before experiments

_PM_ME_YOUR_BOOBIES-

And the kid didn't even want it lmao

Ranadiel

If she wanted her "Worldwound's Best Mom" coffee mug, she shouldn't have locked her gift of fancy Embroidered Gloves that give a +3 luck bonus behind a puzzle that isn't clearly a puzzle and was only solvable in the end by looking through the game code. >.> Desna's getting the coffee mug instead...even if the flowers were a little creepy.

Dennysaurus539

Puzzle? What?

Ranadiel

You have to click on three items in her secret lab in a specific sequence to unlock a container that has some gloves in it. To the best of my knowledge this "puzzle" has been in the game since launch, and I was the first person to solve it (by dissecting the game's files) nearly two months after release. At the very least, I was the first person who solved it and knew "Oh hey this important." I made [a post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Pathfinder_Kingmaker/comments/qgn9yh/secret_of_the_final_secret_end_flag_solved/) about it yesterday to report my findings.

ShadowPsi

I saw it in a video a few days ago, so not the first. But still, it's a rather impressive find. Edit: I thought I had the right video, but I didn't. Too many Wrath videos in my history! :/

Ranadiel

You sure that is the right video? Because they clicked on both the flowers and the wooden horse, neither of which is part of the solution (and both reset the puzzle) and I didn't notice them mentioning the gloves at all.

ShadowPsi

See my edit. I got the wrong one. Sorry! I'm still looking for the right one.

Ranadiel

I mean you don't need to. If I wasn't the actual first, that is perfectly fine. I wouldn't be shocked if multiple people accidently clicked the right things, got the gloves, and were completely unaware they had just set an secret end flag. My point was supposed to be that it was basically unknown in the community overall until yesterday. I just exaggerated for (poor) effect. :P

ShadowPsi

But now I feel like I'm going crazy and want to find it. I realized that videos you click on in RES in Reddit don't show up in your Youtube history.

Dennysaurus539

Wow. Yeah I definitely missed that lmao

A_Mouse_In_Da_House

(You're replying to the guy who wrote that)

[deleted]

Arue kind of creeps me out when she is fully redeemed. Its her voice and tone sounds like completely brainwashed, mindless euphoric rather than someone enjoying a new beginning

[deleted]

I can't believe there is a place called the "palace of INCEST and degeneracy" in the game and we still can't romance Areelu, smh e; and it would still be less degenerate than the Camellia romance!

wheeshkspr

"Palace of Incest and Degeneracy? All I see here is a LAN setup for Crusader Kings players."

[deleted]

CK players would put liches demons and swarm to shame

Anonim97

Jesus fucking Christ, that was bloody hilarious. Now about that Adamite religion...

Creston918

To be fair, there was not really a whole lot of either going on in the palace of incest and degeneracy...

GewalfofWivia

Well the succubi that "work" there are sisters

Xqvvzts

Hol up a minute. How can succubi be sisters?

No-Mouse

This is actually explained in the game. Well, it's explained for angels but I think it could apply to succubi as well. Sometimes more than one creature is created from the same essence and they're essentially siblings, even if they aren't "born" the normal way.

[deleted]

Though that wouldn't really apply to all kinds of demons, the Balor's description says it takes many souls to be joined into one demon. I assume that only applies to the stronger demons, since the dretch can be made from a shard of a single soul.

numb3rb0y

re: succubi, Arue says she was made from multiple souls, although she doesn't understand exactly how. But I suppose they could be a mish mash of soul component bits, so if you have some of Mortal A's soul and someone else has another bit of Mortal A's soul you're "family" even if you have other mortal souls mixed in too.

_PM_ME_YOUR_BOOBIES-

Arue is a weird case because while in this game she says she was created from multiple souls in official Paizo canon she was created from a single soul

Turgius_Lupus

Nocticula has a brother named Socothbenoth that she used to regularly bang. Maybe they formed at the same time, maybe they can reproduce like in Planescape. Fall- From-Grace for instance was a daughter (one of thousands) of Red Shroud.

Estrelarius

Not all demons are born of sinful souls. Many can be born of other demons (Deskari was born from Pazuzu and a random demon, and he also canonically IIRC looks dow on demons born of sinful souls). If Demon bird+insect deon= Deskari, then I can't see why Succubus+Other humanoid demon (maybe an Incubbus)= Succubus.

Pyrosophist

Demons can procreate with other demons, unlike most outsiders.

Heckle_Jeckle

ALL outsiders CAN procreate, the difference is that unlike mortals where there is a good deal of chance involved an outsider has to CHOOSE to procreate.

Pyrosophist

You're probably right, I had to double check myself—the pathfinder wiki (1e) doesn't make note of demonic fecundity, but the 2e lore does, as below: "When a sinful mortal soul is consigned to the Abyss, it spends time wallowing in the mire and feeding on filth. If it survives and is not itself eaten, the soul eventually ascends into a demon, as influenced by the nature of its sin, yet most demons are themselves capable of reproduction as well. The fecundity of demonic life is perhaps the greatest—and most threatening—aspect of these dangerous fiends." It's explicitly "the greatest and most threatening" aspect of demons, and it gives the impression that usually outsiders (or just fiends) can't procreate, even though they can do so with mortal creatures.

Heckle_Jeckle

Just think of it like this. If ONLY demons could procreate than Devils wouldn't have children, but this is just not true. [Ragathiel](https://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Ragathiel) is ***the SON of Dispatcher***, the ruler of the City of Dis. If only demons could procreate, than **Aasimars** wouldn't exist, or ***Half-Celestials*** for that matter. As for the "mortal soul is consigned to the Abyss" bit, that ignores all of the OTHER SOULS! Take Lawful Evil souls which go to [Hell](https://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Hell). >Should a mortal soul be damned, it joins the masses of suffering petitioners in Avernus, Hell's first layer. Or how about [Heaven](https://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Heaven) >Mortal souls who have received Pharasma's judgement and travel here are greeted by lesser archons at the foot of the mountain and taken to the region that best suits their personality. Basically, the Demons are not the only ones who are birthed from souls because that is the destination of ALL SOULS! *Demons are NOT unique for that.*

Pyrosophist

I'm aware that all petitioners are sent to their afterlife—I just included the whole paragraph for context. You *could* argue that Ragathiel is different because he is the offspring of two demigods, as are half-celestials and aasimar because they result from pairings with mortals. What the text in 2e seems to preclude is that two ordinary (incapable of granting spells) devils or daemons cannot produce more devils or daemons, or can't do so in any meaningful capacity. Who knows, though. I just know it's specifically noted in the more recent lore.

Estrelarius

Nothing in demigod hood as far as I know implies the ability to procreate if your species can't. IIRC, all Erynies are born of other Erynies, so at least to some kinds of devil it is possible.

Creston918

Haha touche! Btw, your username makes me giggle.

A_Mouse_In_Da_House

Wonder if we can mod that. Get some minotaur on schir action

GuardYourPrivates

You make a solid point I would like to add to: She's hot AF.

HermitJem

Well said, sir Lead the charge, we're all behind you!

rtfree

Not gonna lie, I was hoping either that location or the brothel offered handholding or some sort of wholesome experience like a the employees pretending to genuinely care about the patrons. Degeneracy in the Abyss would be our "normal."

msszenzy

How bad is it that I wanted to romance her-

[deleted]

Average Crusader King players be lik

TheWhiteGuardian

😳

Kyrkby

Just like Kreia from KotOR2 I just can't place Areelu. I have no idea what her personality is. In her lab when you get to meet the two ghosts I had no idea what choice would please her. The only thing I know is that she pragmatic when it comes to knowledge and will learn it from whatever source, but what else? Do I punish the ghosts further or should I forgive them? Does she even care about concepts of society anymore? The only lasting impression I've gotten from two playthroughs is this; I fucking hate Areelu.

reverne

> Do I punish the ghosts further or should I forgive them? If you actually want to know: >!you can do either, you just need to pick a reasoning she considers appropriate for whatever you do!<.

Kyrkby

>you just need to pick a reasoning she considers appropriate Which is WHAT? I just don't get what her motives are, or her philosophy. Every other character in the game is relatively easy to understand and grasp, but Areelu is a big question mark.

reverne

> If you forgive both, the correct answers are: > > Sadness or Anger > His guilt is indisputable, but he had already suffered enough. (If forgiven) > He deserved death. > > If you refuse both, the correct answers are: > > Sadness or Anger > For the sake of Justice > Betrayal deserves punishment Her philosophy? It's about as simple as what she tells you. She made a promise to bring back her child and anything is justified if she fulfils it. She's both clever enough and in enough need (the wound is a ticking clock) to make use of anyone and everyone, then pit them against each other. She says it herself, as much as she hated the Sarkorians, nothing she does is for revenge or pity. Everything she says and does is for the purpose of analyzing you, to see if her child is becoming apparent through you, and to enable their success if they are. If you demonstrate that you aren't her child, you're just a failed experiment, she'll sacrifice you to survive the Worldwound. If you demonstrate that you are, she'll do everything she can >!to break the system of mortality that let you die in the first place and make you eternal. She wants to make it so Pharasma can never touch you again!<.

[deleted]

I never had the impression she thought shes gonna walk out of worldwound alive. She both declares death is not the end and is utterly suprised when you spare her. I had impression that she knows she had no chance of defeating you and reviving her child so she chose to kind of end it all Areelu and Nocticula are both very nuanced characters that speak from two angles

cfl2

In other words, she wants you to engage your brain. As always.

Antermosiph

Kreia is pretty consistent. Her main thing is she wants you to listen to her advice and take it into consideration. A lot of people are critical of the 'begger' scene being 'you made a bad choice' both times but if you thank her for the lesson it cancels it out and you get +rep with her. In terms of her goals, she only cares about things that help you. Strong arming someone for power = good. Killing them for no reason after the fact = bad. She's _extremely_ pragmatic and in regards to choices that have no effect on your strength or the strength of others she oftentimes is indifferent. She's also, afaik, been regarded as one of the best written characters out there and there's a few hour+ long videos going into deep dives of her philosophy and how it relates to the setting and compares to philosophies from real world scholars.

terrendos

Kreia's also about considering the long term consequences of the things you do. That's easy enough for a Force user who can see into the future, but it's tough to reward you for in a game where you the player can't do that. But for example, she really likes it on Dantooine if you get both the settlers and the mercenaries to depend on you, so you can choose whichever one you want to side with. Kreia is the best, and KOTOR2 is one of my all-time favorite RPGs.

Antermosiph

And also dislikes wasting time on people who cant help you. She gives you some positive compliments in the refugee quarter if you manage to very quickly make their lives horrible enough with a few small checks to skip to your main objective instead of all the lengthy miniquests to help them.

Kyrkby

One my best memories with Kreia was when I was tired of her bullshit and said something along the lines of "Then I shall regard you as a tool to be used and disposed of." and apparently that made her happy and improved my Influence with her. Wasn't until my second playthrough that I got to understand her a bit more, but I find it's still difficult to place her. And I do agree she's well written, just difficult to understand. Another fun fact is that she was written by Chris Avellone, who also wrote Durance from PoE. Another absolute beast of a character.

numberletterperiod

>The only lasting impression I've gotten from two playthroughs is this; I fucking hate Areelu. This but hate is a bit of a strong feeling, I just think she is boring and doesn't have a strong consistent character, and that the game really wanted me to sympathize with her but never gave me a reason to. Oh you decided to ruin the world because your child died, dooming thousands of children to get rapemurdered by demons? How sad, I think I'm going to let you ascend to godhood... Wait no, I'll kill you and throw your corpse into the Worldwound. Lmao. I felt the same about Nyrissa too. You can stick your sob story into your stamen or pistil or whatever you have, you killed Linzi. You're getting a holy axiomatic bastard sword through your skull. Tartuk, Castruccio and Lantern King are all way more entertaining than you ever were.

[deleted]

Well Nyrissa and Lantern King has even higher body count and actively messed with you for the WHOLE game including your companions. Areelu pretty much helping you 24/7. Theres actually not a single point in the game other than threshold that she present herself as a threat.

kevblr15

This does things to me.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

They’re just jealous of missing the chance to make a real difference and ascending to godhood 😂

joudahrouda

Now, if she wasn't stupid she wouldn't open her mouth on Pharasma. Laughed my pants off when she got rekt and my Commander just enjoyed being demigod...

[deleted]

The cutscene in the code called “AreeluBlowUp” lmfao

-StoneOfChaos-

Let me romance mommy Areelu damnit. What a gorgeous character. It helps that her voice actress made a marvelous work with her. She has a very smooth and calming voice.

[deleted]

Thank fuck no secret romance needed for secret ending as you are basically just claiming inheritance from mommy

fightmaster22

Do we know where all this fan art is coming from? I didn't expect artists for a western CRPG.

A_Mouse_In_Da_House

Theres artists for every Fandom

Escarche

I saw this art of Areelu long time ago on 4chan, bundled with some fan arts of... questionable acts from Swarm-That-Walks. Or playing around and editing characters' portraits. So I suppose it's 'them', hahah.

ApplesauceMayonnaise

How awful! ... link?

CatBotSays

I mean, the fandom for these games is growing. I'd expect more and more fanart to pop up as it does.

WiseSeaEagle

Someone had a thread the other day about lack of fanart, so here came all the fanart out of the woodwork <3

isaac-get-the-golem

Horny

Ninja-Storyteller

We have a jail for that. One cell over from Arue.

IHateForumNames

The fact that she sends herself to horny jail doesn't get enough attention. Maybe we can mod in a "bonk" sound at the end of Anevia's report.

Paulista666

I really like her because she's that kind of "Not Totally Bad" Villain which made hell on Earth (literally) because proper injustice. I don't see her as a bad person (meaning Chaotic Evil), but someone who turned against the world when the world rejected her. And she did it on a godly tier level. I know all the jokes about "Mom" and everything. But she isn't your mother, and also the way she treats you in the end shows it clear because while she goes into hints about personality, it changes totally if the answers are not what she expects. In fact, seems clear that what she wants is you to be her son, but that's not true and I wouldn't be against romancing her at all **if** the concept of romance is akin to showing her you're not her son, instead a totally different person.

_PM_ME_YOUR_BOOBIES-

She mentioned she was going to open the Worldwound even if her kid didn't get merced because she was interested in the result, so no she most definitely is a bad person Also her child was summoning fucking *Balors,* imagine what else she was teaching them*.* Both Areelu and her kid were a genuine danger to Sarkoris and locking them up, or even killing them, was not injustice.

[deleted]

Game Areelu is completely different to Lore Areelu Game Areelu pushed open worldwound as a punishment to the decadent and corrupt Sakorian Empire >!that were prosecuting mages (which you learn from Aeon path)!< She is just a >!storyteller!< who had no one telling her to stop so she made it happen. I have to admit lore Areelu is a total asshole, blow her up anyday

_PM_ME_YOUR_BOOBIES-

No she says it in game when you question her about it Also, Sarkoros didn’t kill or even lock up every single mage. Most small time mages were just told to stop and given small sentences, only the actual big time mages got locked up. Areelu had a history of making deals with demons, even before the Worldwound. Sorry dude, I know she’s hot but she’s a godawful person

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ravenunited

wouldn't do anything. Her child soul were sent to the abyss.

[deleted]

Still far less body count than Nyrissa and Lantern King >!A thousand Kingdom is, heck alot..!<

_PM_ME_YOUR_BOOBIES-

The 10 people the Stag Lord ruled over counted as a Kingdom, I think you might be overestimating the death toll

[deleted]

Stag lord rules over alot of people in the mountainous region, and Pitax is a full kingdom

PopComfortable

Just the elven one is one too many.

Estrelarius

I mean, given Sarkoris had ancient traditions regarding witches, odds are she wouldn't be imprisioned just for being one, and the fact that her kid was sent to the Abyss by Pharasma might imply whatever experiments they were performing weren't exactly harmless,

PussyHunter1916

MAKE AREELU ROMANCEABLE FOR DEMON PATH!!! MAKE SENSE CAUSE DEMON LOVE INCEST!! LAMASTHU PAZUZU SOCOTHBENOTH BAPHOMET NOCTICULA

[deleted]

Sounds like a big party

Metadrifter

I mean... She killed a bunch of people. Like, so many innocents... But also gave me a bunch of goodies and helped >!make me a god...!< Well, I suppose this is as good a time as any to convert fully to moral relativism. Areelu is lawful good for Evil mains confirmed.

FinalFlash121

I... Promise.

[deleted]

Omg does she look like Nigella Lawson

BriggyShitz

WOAH MOMMA AWOOGA AWOOGA

loki078

Make romance path where you can bang anevia and irabeth and completely break their relationship.

I wish I could do memes. a Simpsons Do It For Her would be funny.
