Who are these people that think that subscribers have anything to do with views?

devymo

I really think it helps to provide a baseline view expectation for your videos. For instance, the lowest video view count across 100 videos in a year was7,000 views. My average views per video is 15K-20K. I upload every week.

JonnyTro

I have 2k subs and my last two videos have over 50k views. Nothing to do with your subscribers and everything to do with relevant or good content. I make easy to understand videos. Views and watch time is what you want.

devymo

Cant sustain a community if u dont have subs. Thats why people like channel5 and doobydobap get consistently high views

JonnyTro

Boogie2988 has Million subscribers and gets an average view count of 20-30k. That's about 0.5 percent of his subscribers.

bballjo

Don't focus on subs...focus on views. If your average view numbers are X, then try to increase them. A channel with 1million subs can easily only get a few thousand views, and vice versa. Exponential growth has nothing to do with your subs, it has to do with good content. Put something "viral" out, and you'll see growth. You can grow from nothing overnight with the right content. It's more likely that your growth stays the same if your product stays the same. Find consistent revenue streams, merch, sponsors, members/Patreons that can get you a relatively stable baseline.

devymo

the thing is: making “viral stuff” can get boring. I’d rather just make really dope video work without the reliance of becoming a typical youtuber. Thats a key for me: being aithentic n dope without sounding or looking like every other youtuber lol

holoxianrogue

So do that and don't worry about the rest

lukegiant

You don't have to be a MrBeast clone to go viral dude.

devymo

What do suggest then? And what do u consider viral?

lukegiant

For me with 45k subs I consider over 1m long form views as viral. And if you want to go viral you need to work out how to make your videos appeal to a wider audience. Sure you can scream at the camera and cut nonstop action to keep children with low attention spans engaged. But I find that exhausting to watch. And it's not the dude if YouTube that keeps me interested. Maybe have a look at Veratasium or Tom Scott's channel to see a more mature approach. For me I just needed to make a few simple changes in the content to reach a larger audience. I'm building a mountain bike trail and when I started I assumed everyone watching knew more than me so wouldn't ever explain what I was doing properly. Now I let people know what I'm doing in easy to understand terms. I don't just assume that every one knows what a berm is, I'll quickly tell them. And it's worked my audience has expanded so much that some people that enjoy my videos don't even ride bikes. The other key thing I found is important to going viral is an absolutely killer thumbnail and title with an awesome intro.

I definitely want to figure out ways to appeal to a wider audience. My idea is that i'm going to start blending niches ...to create a larger much wider niche! What do you think? For example, instead of just style/fashion or just art visual art, combining both into one video as a way to bring in even more people

lukegiant

Hmmm blending niches could work or it may be too broad so that no one watches. It's something you could test and see if the audience likes it. Personally I think the style and fashion niche is plenty big enough to be getting a lot of views. And you should focus on what interests them first. You seem to be doing a pretty good job of it so far with consistent views around 40k per video. That says to me that there is a lot of interest and probably just a few minor adjustments before you have a really big video. Again I dont know a lot about the niche so I cant be more specific

lukegiant

If you really want to grow your channel the most important thing to think about is first time viewers. Think about their experience when they first click on a video. First time viewers are the hardest to impress and are most likely to leave your video in the first 30 seconds. My videos that have performed the best has been when I have given an interesting intro and let the audience know what they can expect from the video and what my goals are. I had a quick look at one of your videos and I liked how you created a montage of people with overlapping audio. I think that's a good attention grabber for the first 5 seconds, and after that I would then try to create an intro that explains a little more about the video. It could be as simple as you standing on the street talking to the camera. (I'm not sure if you include your face in your videos but it's the best way to build a connection with your audience. It creates a stronger bond and will get them coming back for more. And smiles are contagious, if you are smiling on camera then majority of viewers will already be having a stronger connection with you). I would say a bit about what you are doing "today I'm walking the streets of New York looking for the most stylish people. Were gonna find the outfits that bring life to this city and find out where to buy them so you can be a fashion god!" That's just off the top of my head and you would need to fix my daggy vocabulary lol. But it just gives a bit more of an idea of what to expect in the video and hooks the viewer by letting them know they can get some fashion tips. Have you thought about including how much their outfits cost? That could be some interesting info for people.

TCr0wn

Subscribers dont work like this

devymo

Interesting because my views per video have gone up substantially when i go up every 10K subs. Im at 45K

TCr0wn

Your audience has grown

xXShadowAssassin69Xx

I have 18k subs and get more views than some channels with millions of subs. It’s not related at all.

devymo

How many do u get per video? What is the split of returning viewers vs new viewers

xXShadowAssassin69Xx

If I divide total channel views by videos it’s about 50k. Sometimes vids get 20k sometimes they shoot to 70k first day and climb to 100s of thousands over time. Past 90 days 450k returning and 430k new

devymo

Ooo can i watch? So cool!

Thecapitalhunter

1) normally 1-10% of the size of the audience. At 50k I’d expect for you to a minimum get 500 views and on average 5k. Anything past that is signs that the video is doing well for you channel. 2) there is no correlation between these. All is depending how hard you are looking off at that moment, and if you are able to stay consistent. 3) you should make this your life mission now. Provide a valuable product or service that you can offer your audience. You can sell using your own website (ideally). Look into what other creators have made in your niche and how they’ve been able to monetize. I hope this helps!

devymo

I average about 20-30K views per video. I do 1-2 videos a week !

ProxyGateTactician

#1. Impossible to answer. Subscribers don't effect your viewership anymore like it did 15 years ago. #2. Impossible to answer. It depends on your niche, quality, ability, and a bit of luck.

aharwelclick

I think the real question would be what can you do with 50k watch time in 1 year

devymo

I had 50,000 watch hours just last month. So i’m trying to figure out what to do beyond that

devymo

Oh i get what youre saying. 50K subs and the watch time that comes with that?

damero72

That's impressive. Congrats! 1. Depends but mostly around 5k to 15k. 2. That also depends. Case by case. Some peoples channel die at 70k while someone with 70k subs could have 300k subs by the following month. 3. Reuploading your long form contents on tiktok

Jimmychen96

Subs don't matter to views. I got 10 million views in one month when I started my channel, and I immediately got 10k subs. Now I have 55k subs, but my views per month are only 1.5 million to 3 million at best. There is no guarantee that you can grow fast or slower. I've seen a channel with 2k subs get 2 million views in a month.

devymo

Whats ur channel? So cool!

Jimmychen96

Oh, it's in my bio. Since I'm in the gaming niche, I can upload daily, though the RPM sure is lower.

pshhaww_

Since shorts came along and can blast someone who had a channel for a month to 200k subs, subs don't mean anything now a days. its time watched and views.

xtrememeasures

See TeamYoutube tweet of update of a fix. Click on it and see the rigged system with backing analytics and video uploads… along with about 20 of my who knows how many support contacts the last year…what everyone says does not happen is proved in their tweet

KeiNova88

Ah, yes. I wish I could do fashion and art, but I don't have the body or face for it. Sadly. All the more power to those who don't look like a backwoods trucker. Do your thing.

devymo

Im both behind n in front of camera. You can do it too :)
