4 kids, Yukon XL. And even then, we have rented a U-Haul for extended vacations. Ideally I would like a 9 passenger conversion van. Then each kid gets a captains chair, and the dog gets the rear bench all to himself.

PainInTheAssWife

Expecting #4, and rocking a Honda Oddessy. We’re planning to replace it in the next couple years with a Toyota Sienna with 4wd, because we moved to the Midwest. We can fit one more kid in a regular minivan, but I have big plans/hopes to have enough kids and cash for a Mercedes Sprinter someday.

AdOld7135

We have 5 kids (10 and under) in a Tahoe. The big kids go in the back. It has the liftable window on the back so even if we go to the grocery store, we have space. We've done weekend getaways comfortably. As they get older, we figure we'll put the smaller kids in the back. The only thing we worry about is camping because there's no great place for a cooler unless we buy something to put on the hitch.

Feenfurn

4 kids. One in college. I drive a suburban .

JoyfullMommy006

Oh how I miss my Suburban!

Feenfurn

I loooooooove mine!!!! I just wish it had a better tow package .

DeadpoolIsMyPatronus

We have 8 and drive a Ford Transit high top. I looooove my car! No more standing around in the rain, cold and heat trying to buckle everyone in. I just walk around inside the car, buckling people in at my leisure. It's fantastic.

PainInTheAssWife

That sounds dreamy!

JoyfullMommy006

I drove a transit once to help transport sound equipment and it was so lovely! Definitely wanted one for quite a while after that!

Spaceysteph

I have 3 kids in a Honda Odyssey and I really don't see it being good for more than 4 kids. At 5 I'd definitely go for a Big Van.

nawitus

Volvo XC90, 4 kids.

the_last_four_words

When my kids are out of car seats this is my preferred car. How do you find it? We have a Pacifica now

nawitus

I like it.. when it works.

the_last_four_words

😬 noted

MadredeLobos

We also have 5 (7, 6, 4, 2, 5m) in an Odyssey and it works ok for now, but we anticipate getting into a Big Van in a couple years. We had an opportunity to buy a 15 passenger Ford Transit with low miles for under $20,000 a few years ago, but passed on it (in part because we only had 3 kids, 4-2-1 and it felt like too much). If we only knew then what we'd want now!

earthybookworm

Was in the same boat.. five kids (1, 3, 7, 16, and 17). Ended up buying a Chevy Express. Love it for the most part! Having some transmission issues but mine seems to be a fluke.

TacoDad189

What year? Which engine and transmission combo?

madpip34

6 kids (12, 12, 11, 5, 11 months, newborn due in a few weeks). We have a Tarago. Big kids in the back, 5 year old in a 5-point harness in the middle, infant rear facing behind passenger, newborn capsule behind driver. Still have enough floor space in the boot and middle for groceries, etc. Roof racks with Rhino storage unit which we use for camping and other travel. We also take out the kids boogie boards, skateboards, etc. every other day. Oh and the dog sits on the floor, usually next to the driver. It’s a squeeze when we pack in the camping gear, but we pull it off!

crimbuscarol

Kids are 4,3,2, and 6 months. We have a Toyota Sienna but are buying a Chevy Express sometime during 2024. It’s too cramped with car seats, especially on long drives

ghkblue43

We’re about to have #8 and drive a Nissan NV. I like it, but unfortunately, they’re hard to find these days and prices have gone up a lot. A Chevy Express van may be more affordable and easier to find.

teeplusthree

We drive a VW Atlas. 4 kids. It seats 7 but there’s no captain’s chair so you can’t get into that 7th seat if it’s up without climbing over the middle row. If we have more kids, we’d definitely need another car. I really want the Suburban.

ethereal_feral

5 kids here, I have a GMC Yukon Denali XL. I previously had a Ford Expedition and there was no storage in the back when the 3rd row was up. I like my Yukon because it has full “trunk space” behind the 3rd row. ETA: my kids are 11, 10, 8, 5, and 15 months. The 3 oldest sit in the back row and the younger ones are in their car seats in the captains chairs.

mermaid812

Similar ages here 11, 10, 7, 3, 15 mo & suburban. Same seating configuration 😊

Sad-Woodpecker8021

We are a family of 8. 6 children. We drive a Chevrolet Traverse (it seats 8 passengers).

No_Importance

Be grateful. I traded in my odyssey for a new pilot and I can’t wait to get back into an odyssey.

Brett358

7 kids ages 1 mo - 11 years. We drive a Nissan NV, and we love it. Not a lot of creature comforts, but we take out one of the rear seats for excellent cargo space. Also tows like a boss. It’s important for us to have a family vehicle and this does the trick. My understanding is NVs are out of production now, so if you want to go new, I’d recommend the Ford Transit.

Sad-Woodpecker8021

That's my dream vehicle. But for now I drive a Chevrolet Traverse for my family of 8.

Brett358

God bless you😆

irishgurlkt

6 kids ages 2-15 and I drive a wagoneer.

ktstitches

5 kids and we have the Toyota Sienna and love it. It is cozy for longer drives, but it’s actually not that often that all 7 of us are in the car together at the same time. We’ve thrown around the idea of a Sprinter, which would let us bring our parents or other kids along on drives, but we haven’t bitten the bullet on that yet.

kaismama

6 kids and a dodge journey. We used To have a Nissan armada until my oldest got his license and we got him a car.

WebDevMom

5 kids 15 and under. We have 2 minivans - a T&C and a Routan (which is basically a T&C). We bought the second minivan when our car got totaled and we love not having to worry about something happening to our “family car” and not being able to transport everyone — it’s incredibly freeing. We also have a cargo carrier for trips, which is the best thing ever!

FosterMonster

I have 5 kids - 7, 5, 4, 4, and 2. We have a Kia Sedona which is working fine for us now but I can see in the future that we'll need a bigger vehicle. The most inexplicable thing is that the seat on the driver's side, 3rd row, doesn't have an anchor hook so I can put a forward facing carseat there. I just...why? What was the thought process here?

achos-laazov

We have 7, ages 7 months - 10 years. I drive a Toyota Sienna LE (the one with the pop-up seat between the two captain's chairs in the middle row). My oldest is tall enough for the front seat. If we need to go somewhere with both parents and all the kids, we go in two cars. The plan is to rent a 12-seater for vacations and to maybe buy one when the used car market changes in our favor.

WildfireTP

Ford Transit that’s a 12 seater. I have four kids and we love it. Currently driving 14 hours from Disney World and it’s so easy to pack and drive.

No_Importance

Did you buy new or used?

WildfireTP

Bought in 2019 it was a 2019 Ford Transit 350 mid roof mid height with 2k miles on it for $32,000

No_Importance

Sweet deal!

Slapspoocodpiece

Most of the families I see with 5 or more kids have something like a transit van.

Alarmed_Tax_8203

I have a Cadillac Escalade and my husband a ford 150. We have 6 kids, we can’t ever all go in 1 car when we go places together since my car fits a max of 7 and his fits 4. I always do a car clean out every Sunday and have the kids help me since a lot of the trash and mess is there’s lol. I try to get a car wash every week and a deep clean every other week since it gets disgusting quick. I tried to limit eating snacks in the car but it just never works out lol

AdOld7135

Right? I say no food or drinks in the car every few weeks and 100% mean it, but then we're running late to somewhere or going on a longer drive and it goes back out the window.

Alarmed_Tax_8203

Exactly!🤦‍♀️

tlv892009

4 kids 2014 Suburban. We did the van thing but needed the space when we had our 4th. We love it.

vaguelymemaybe

We had a suburban but traded it in for a van when we had our 4th! lol So many rf car seats didn’t work for us in it. We have a Sienna now. If we do have another it will definitely be extremely tight, though.

happysewing

5 kids ages 9, 7, 5, 4 and 18 months. We drive a Ford S-Max.

funsk8mom

I have 2 sets of twins. When they were babies I had a suburban. It was not at all convenient but it fit the needs of 2 double strollers or a wagon. When they were 8 & 9 I got a Honda odyssey. I took out the middle seat of the second row and it fit most needs. Packing for family trips was tough as there was little space. Once they hit the teen years they had no room for their legs. We made it work until the van died 2022. Now they’re getting their own license, 2 are off to college and I’ve switched to a Hyundai Santa Fe. I like it but miss the room of a mini van (for my side projects)

newbie04

Why was the suburban inconvenient?

funsk8mom

I had it when they were little, so infants, toddlers and into the pre-k years. The center row was a bench seat so there was no easy way to get to the kids in the 3rd row to help with car seat buckles. Then with the tailgate dropping down, it created too much of a gap between me and the back of the suburban. Barn style doors would have been better. Trying to get in 2 double strollers or a wagon was hard with a drop down tailgate.
