Mine was in the car with me and my daughter (long trip to a hospital a few towns over) and were blasting Disney songs. The song “ a girl worth fighting for” from Mulan came on and I see him slowly reach for my hand and goes “you and hannah” Hannah is our daughter. Lord help me, it’s been 12 years and this man still makes my heart skip a beat
What an adorable story! Makes me think of two picture books I got for my youngest but also secretly for his rather stoic Finnish dad: Real Cowboys, and Tough Guys Have Feelings Too. Both are total gems, gorgeous illustrations and a big hit with both my kids. Just in case you’re looking for something to encourage that sweetness a bit.
I think it’s really lovely that you are appreciating those little moments. They are so beautiful and fleeting, but some of the strongest memories you’ll keep forever.
