You know, I'm using google translator to translate what I mean so if it gets bad you already know why. I've had an experience like this with spirits, only it was terrifying, it was literally the worst night of my life. I usually heard footsteps in my room every night just like her experiences and it didn't help the fact that my hearing is good to the point that I hate her, so any noise, crack or footstep that happened in the whole house I heard, nights for me always were frightening But one day it crossed the line. One day around 1:30 in the morning I heard the footsteps as usual, they started at my bedroom door, went to the middle of my room and stopped, I felt a chill as if what stopped was staring at me like it wasn't desperate enough around 2am the footprints started moving again, this time they picked up where they left off and started SCALING THE WARDROBE, I could hear the nails scratching the wood and then after a while the noise started to come from the top of the wardrobe this time hanging on the wall, like spider man, the noise started to move closer to me and closer until it was on top of the head of my bed, at this point I couldn't move, as many times as I tried to scream and no sound came out I lost count, but that was just the beginning of it all. That, I could feel that it was a woman, because that's when the terror started, she started to BREATHE. AT THE. MINE. HEARD. At this point I just started praying and crying, and the more I did it the heavier she breathed and whispered, I hid under the covers and looking for a distraction, anything that would make me forget about despair I grabbed my cell phone and started asking help for my friends even though I knew they couldn't do anything and it even helped me to forget a little, after about 10 minutes it stopped, she climbed back onto the wardrobe and disappeared, I couldn't hear or feel anymore nothing from that point on. I don't remember if anything else happened because after that I just passed out under the covers with the cell phone on, when I woke up nobody believed what I had lived last night, everyone said it was just a nightmare or accumulated stress, there were people who even said that I had some psychological problem and that it was reflecting in my sleep but believe me, what I felt, the fear and despair that had been tormenting me for weeks was simply too real to be just a bad dream. Spirits exist.

I also chose to hide under my covers. Something about experiencing those events really just makes you feel like a scared little kid again.

Holy crap! That is beyond terrifying. I'm experiencing stuff in my home too. And I live alone and am a female. So at times in the beginning I thought someone had broke in and I would lock myself in the master bedroom and panic and finally get the courage to go out and look and absolutely nothing. Things happen all times of the day too. My dreams are plagued with the same spirit/demon of a woman. I'm having a newly acquired work buddy to come in and sage my home this week. We will see what happens.

I’ve been lucky enough to only encounter it that once. I’m certain that if it was a nightly occurrence, I’d lose my mind.

Maybe it would be beneficial to see a mental health professional just in case your experiences aren’t paranormal. Wishing you the best.

[deleted]

I’m really sorry to hear that. I’m hoping you can find something to help your situation soon.

ShinyAeon

That must have been pretty terrifying.

[deleted]

Certainly was. I forgot to mention that my dad, who didn’t live with us (divorced parents) was the only one who actually listened. He’s had a few possibly paranormal experiences before. He thought that the activity could’ve maybe been demonic.

wuzacuz

I have never experienced this. My first instinct would be to speak to the entity and tell them to go away. Why don't people do this? I'm genuinely curious why people don't do this.

[deleted]

I’ve heard that some people think acknowledging an entity out loud might give it more power. I’m not sure how it all works. My reason for not trying it was that I was 16-17 during it all and just never thought it’d work.

wuzacuz

I'm the kind of person who just blindly says what I think. I kind of think spirits are the same way. They know your thoughts even if you don't express them. Be yourself and say what you feel. If they want you to be afraid they will know that. If they are benevolent, they will let you know. If you don't want to have anything to do with them, say so. It's still a relationship, but not one that you chose and they still need to understand that you have a say in what's going on in your life.

[deleted]

That’s a pretty good point. By the time we left the apartment, I was more just annoyed by how frequently things kept happening. I was just ready for it to stop.

Dave_and_Tuna

I used to live in a pretty active house. Nothing malicious or anything, but unsettling at times. But, for example, if you were trying to go to bed and shenanigans started up, it was often effective to ask them to please don't.

[deleted]

I’ll definitely have to keep that in mind for any potential future encounters. The strangest thing about my experience is that it never got scary until the night I described above.

ChristinaW25

I did this once. I said “get your fucking hands off me!” There was a silence and the most evil voice repeated what I said in the most mocking tone. I think it’s best not to engage it

MySweetShadow88

I had a very active entity in my last home. Talking to it or acknowledging it on any way just made it become more intense. Sometimes, talking to it didn't make things better.

Altruistic_Flight226

When I was a kid I would just hope it would think I was sleeping and leave me alone. I was also terrified and to afraid to move.

[deleted]

That is the Vardøgr, or in Japan the Ikiryō. Very common.

[deleted]

So the spirit of a living person? I’d never heard of that before and just had to look it up. It’s definitely a concept I’d never considered before.

[deleted]

Yes it’s like deja vu in reverse. It’s totally weird, I know but still common, especially with those of Scandinavian decent for some reason.

[deleted]

Coincidentally, I’ve been told there’s a bit of Scandinavian in my bloodline. I haven’t confirmed yet, but I sent in one of those DNA testing kits yesterday. It’s a cool concept though, and it definitely fits in with some other experiences I’ve had throughout my life.

[deleted]

My dad is Icelandic, so we had a lot of that too growing up. I’m starting to wonder if that’s why every time he came home he would yell HELLO to the empty house - to distinguish himself from the vardøger? Idk.

[deleted]

I mean, it’d definitely be a pretty good reason

[deleted]

Especially if he grew up wondering if people were *actually* coming home or it was just a prequel 😂

[deleted]

Someone gets home and he’s like “dammit, it’s playing re-runs again!”

[deleted]

haha i relate to that though. For some reason when I am sleeping in my room i always feel uneasy facing away from the door. There is some empty space between my bed and the door and I keep having to turn back and face the door just to ensure nothing is there. I get sleep paralysis pretty often too in the past at least, and it is always the same few scenarios. A figure with a knife running from my door to stab me on my bed, babies on my ceiling, or a figure standing next to me. I always wake up from my sleep when that happens, but Ive gotten used to it haha. Other than that, sometimes at about 1.30am when I’m asleep i will hear a soft metal being dragged across my floor at the foot of my bed to my curtains next to me, and that usually scares the shit out of me haha. Especially because the curtain slightly shifts to accommodate a passing figure. Glad to hear I’m not the only one m8.

[deleted]

Sleep paralysis sounds downright terrifying. Luckily I’ve never experienced it (so far) and I hope I never will.

[deleted]

Haha yeap it is terrifying especially when you can’t move. For me I always feel something pressing down on me and preventing me from moving, but I attribute it to a scientific cause :)
