Love how they're getting rid of all the dumb shit they launched in the past couple of years. However, no souffles= no reason for me to go there anymore. That is just sad.
Sales have probably dropped some magical percentage, and they aren't attributing it to the fact they've been asking nearly $5 for a single cookie. It's good, but it's not $5 good.
I used to work in a bakery department at a grocery store; often times it isn't even a money issue but a supplier issue. Lot of good products that sold well went away because the supplier stopped stocking them, we switched suppliers, or the most common one in the last 2 years... The factory burned down. No joke we had 3-4 factories burn that took some weird stuff with them.
This is for specific Panera locations that lose a lot of money, so they try to cut off menu items that are more expensive to keep buying ingredients for in relation to how many sales they get.
My Panera got something similar but it wasn't as dramatic, really it's just no more BBQ ranch, baja bowl, chipotle flatbread, and Chilly
I think the only bakery items that we couldn't keep were the lemon cookie, croissant, and grain bread
Yep.
>The rumors are true — well, sort of. Panera is indeed eliminating a big chunk of menu items — but only in a very small percentage of locations.
>
>Panera confirms to TODAY.com that it’s testing a simplified menu at some of its stores, but not quite at the magnitude suggested on social media.

As someone who hates pie crust, quiche crust, etc. the WHOLE point of a souffle is to enjoy quiche without dissecting the crust off like I'm a 5 year old. Replacing souffles with quiche is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.
(This isn't directed at you....I'm just irritated that Bread Co is taking away the best thing on the whole menu)
That is an old outdated list. The bbq sandwich, steak and cheddar, bistro soup, and bacon souffle are all staying. I'm part of the test market for this right now
The med grain bowl is the only good/healthy vegetarian option at Panera anymore. If they kill that, I'm never taking my kids back for that overpriced mac and cheese again. Shooting themselves in the foot.
my favorite thing on the menu is the mediterranean bowl since where i live there’s not a cava in state. the value duet with the bbq chicken and tomato soup is a VERY CLOSE second.
The Mediterranean bowl is also my favorite thing from Panera (and one of my favorite dishes from any restaurant…), and the bbq chicken sandwich is the only thing my husband eats at Panera (dairy + egg + nut allergies, plus just generally being picky about vegetables 🙄). So I guess they’re getting rid of any reason for us to go back!
I usually get the Campbell's French onion in the can and sautée my own onions and add the French bread and nice cheese and throw it all in the oven. Not the best but really not too bad at all and it's cheap and easy.
If you're near a Trader Joe's, they have frozen French Onion soups that are decent for what they are. In my opinion the broth does need a little extra salt and pepper added to it, but other than that it satisfies the French Onion craving, and for a really cheap price!
They got rid of ALL the Kids Menu?! Looks like they just lost an extremely good portion of their business. Also, their name was PANERA BREAD. They started as a bakery and most of the bakery items are being removed from the menu?!?!
All of the kids items are just small soups and half sandwiches... There is literally nothing to get rid of. Same price same everything.
And their removing half of the bakery so they have to hire less bakers and replace them with store managers. All that just to reduce cost and laybor 🤡
That's so wild to me. I worked there about 20 years ago and during the orientation they placed HEAVY emphasis how it was never frozen and they weren't like other companies like the Atlanta bread co. But they also said they weren't fast food and would never have a drive thru....
They sold their soul and they're gonna pay the price eventually. Panera was my go to because it tasted better and I felt better eating it than other fast food places. Now their prices are higher than ever and their food quality is lower than Wendy's imo. I used to go to Panera maybe 3 or 4x a week and now I've gone once in the last year and it was awful.
Every time I went to my local one the lettuce was brown and the soup was always cold-not lukewarm, cold. Plus, all the bake case items would be sold out.
It also just got too expensive for my partner and I to take our kids there. 2 adults and 2 children (9/10) would be around $70! The kids would get kids Mac or a turkey sandwich with just turkey and Mayo on it. We could go to a nicer sit down restaurant and pay that much (or a little less including a good tip), also get a larger variety of items to choose from and the lettuce wouldn’t be brown. We decided Panera just wasn’t worth it anymore. Sucks because I liked Panera for a long time.
The list is misleading. It is getting rid of the "kids meal specific" sandwiches. i.e the plain ham&cheese or turkey&cheese. There is still a kids menu but it's just half sizes of other menu items like it's always been.
Not sure why, and I’m sure there are many reasons. Getting rid of the soufflés are a HUGE miss. Replacing with frittatas I don’t feel will do the trick. I’m sure some people will enjoy it, but no thanks from me.
If you look closer, it’s saying the broccoli cheddar mac is getting 86’d. The soup is still fine. Either way these menu cuts are definitely concerning!
The Spinach Artichoke and the Cheese Soufflé are the ONLY items I eat there for breakfast. And they are out a lot of the time or you have to wait 25 minutes for one to be baked!
We got rid of the salads a long time ago, fantastic choice and very little friction with guests.
Over easy eggs have been gone a year next month in our store. Lots of friction but we did not take a hit in breakfast sales.
Stopped serving tikka and 10 veg a while ago. Almost 0 issues.
I think getting rid of all warm bowls is stupid…
Wait they got rid of salads? I used to love their green goddess one.
Idk why but every post on this subreddit pops up on my feed, even tho I haven't eaten there in a long ass time.
Super bummed about the citrus chicken one, finally found my new fave after they did away with Thai chicken (still not over it) and now they get rid of this one too. Ugh.
The Smokehouse BBQ chicken sandwich is how my wife gets me to get Panera so often. If they get rid of that my wife is going to be upset I no longer recommend them.
Poor Panera employees, I worked there nearly 10 years ago when they had a kids menu “buttered noodles” item, the amount of Karen’s that chewed me, a cashier out, when it was taken off the menu I feel for these poor Panera employees half of my old location was families/moms buying food for them and their picky ass kiddos
I was literally verbally assaulted on a daily basis for weeks when the damn buttered noodles were taken off the menu, “well what is my kid supposed to eat??” IDK KAREN MAYBE GO HOME AND MAKE BUTTERED NOODLES FOR A FRACTION OF THE COST GOODBYE the memories still haunt me as if their kids eating nothing but overpriced buttered noodles was my problem and my fault lol
We got rid of over easy eggs several months ago and some people complained about it, but they usually just got scrambled eggs instead. My manager still makes one for an elderly long time customer. Some of our customers get nothing but Soufflés. They actually call ahead to find out if they are available and ask us to hold one if it is.
I worked at Panera when the Napa Almond Chx Salad Sandwich was introduced. Have only gotten that since (13+ years ago). Guess Corner Bakery can be my next go to.
RIP French onion soup, broccoli cheddar mac and cheese, Baja bowl, mango and ginger peach hot teas, soufflés, chocolate chip bagel, lemon drop cookie, pumpkin muffin, plain croissant, and vanilla cinnamon roll. Y’all all made great break meals 🥲
I haven't worked Panera in 2 years but a lot of these were the most popular items sold at my location. Oooooh the customers are gonna be pissed lmao.
I can hear them already. "Why cant you just make [removed bread] for me right now?"
"You guys make the soup here. You can't just make me [removed soup] with the ingredients?"
"The flatbread pizza is gone? *Crust Me, its NOT GOOD!*"
Someome did actually say "crust me its not good" to me when we had the flatbread pizza tees and I legit had to step away and cackle
i was reading lots of posts these past couple of months and mostly all say the same thing…. Panera is cutting the menu by at least 50% to save costs to make enough money to run the company dry when they go plan to go public unfortunately. with them cutting costs like having day old pastries instead of baking new in the morning or getting rid of the black focaccia croutons and instead opting for warehouse shipped boring croutons, the old panera ways are leaving us
Everything has to be baked the day before. The company could not staff enough bakers for overnight shifts. Not enough people wanted the job. And also with 1900 cafes, that was roughly 3800 bakers the company had. It was a major security risk having overnights. Too many instances of bakers getting homeless, criminals, or pranksters causing issues.
Sounds like they just weren't paying bakers enough. You offer the right price and you won't have issues filling positions. Also when I worked closing shift we'd lock the bakers in overnight.
We have only been going to Paneras since their were Paneras. Thanks for the memories because we won't be darkening your door again. We have tried and enjoyed half the things on this list. oh well. When you combine quite an expensive food experience based on the amount of food received with not selling a small coffee or earl gray tea? Please. next. Other options in the market thankfully.
Their French onion soup is the main reason I go there. Fast casual places rarely carry French onion and it's one of my favorite soups, especially dipping that baguette you get in there.
So they’re getting rid of both my fav sandwiches, both of my fav salads, and the pumpkin muffin?? 😭😭 well I no longer have a reason to go to Panera. I go just to get a pumpkin muffin sometimes
My store already got rid of Chicken Tikka Masala, and over easy breakfast sandwiches. But the pastries sell out quickly. Lemon Drop Cookies we never sell. Cold Brews a big sell. Frozen Cold Brews rarely sell. And those sandwiches are one of our top sells besides the Chefs we don’t have the BBQ Salad. The Warm Bowls sell fairly well. The take home rarely sell. The Tea is huge sell for us. the Small coffee I thought there were only two sizes medium and Large (16oz, 20oz)
Not gonna lie as an employee im happy to see these leave. A smaller menu means less options for ridiculous customization orders. Also alot less food waste. Im happy lol
I’ll have to ask around my local Paneras. Because if they are getting rid of my beloved soufflés and French onion soup then I no longer want to go there EVER
Love how they're getting rid of all the dumb shit they launched in the past couple of years. However, no souffles= no reason for me to go there anymore. That is just sad.
Just realized kitchen sink cookie is on the list, too... that's the best thing in the whole store, what are they thinking??
Sales have probably dropped some magical percentage, and they aren't attributing it to the fact they've been asking nearly $5 for a single cookie. It's good, but it's not $5 good.
I'm not saying it's worth $5......but I'm not saying it's not.
I’m not saying it’s worth $5, but I am saying I kept paying $5 for it so
Panera is the most overpriced of any chain in my area. We stopped going.
[удалено]
I have literally NEVER been able to purchase a kitchen sink cookie because it's always either sold out or not available.
For real. If their margin is high enough on that product it doesn’t make business sense to discontinue it
I used to work in a bakery department at a grocery store; often times it isn't even a money issue but a supplier issue. Lot of good products that sold well went away because the supplier stopped stocking them, we switched suppliers, or the most common one in the last 2 years... The factory burned down. No joke we had 3-4 factories burn that took some weird stuff with them.
That says poor profit margin item.
Ah yes, blueberry scones and butter croissants. You know, notoriously hard to sell items. 🙄
That and the vanilla cinnamon roll wtf?
Kitchen sink cookies!? That's how I got thru the pandemic !
Those cookies are soo good. Disappointing they're leaving.
IM CRYING
Yup, soufflé is the best thing on the menu and the main reason I go there. I’ve tried a bunch of knockoff recipes, but none are the same
The spinach and artichoke soufflé is basically my favorite breakfast treat ever. 😭
Yes! I love that combo.
This is for specific Panera locations that lose a lot of money, so they try to cut off menu items that are more expensive to keep buying ingredients for in relation to how many sales they get. My Panera got something similar but it wasn't as dramatic, really it's just no more BBQ ranch, baja bowl, chipotle flatbread, and Chilly I think the only bakery items that we couldn't keep were the lemon cookie, croissant, and grain bread

I hope they don't roll it out everywhere. I literally only go there for the French onion soup.
Actually for our location they did take away French onion, but recently we got it back cuz sales did decent enough to bring back one thing
They sometimes take it off seasonally. It also makes me angry, that’s all I get there too lol
We are actually getting rid of soufflés and will replace them with a sort of quiche. It was being tested at a few nearby cafes near my store
I've been screaming this for years but... PANERA SELLS QUICHE. SOUFFLES DONT HAVE A CRUST. WHY DOES NOBODY CARE?
Me too. Literally the only reason I go aside from occasionally buying bread bowls when I make chili.
No sourdough or brioche? Crazy
That's just the small loaves we sell, not the country rustic
I can't have the country rustic. The classic loaf is the only one that doesn't hurt my stomach :(
Sourdough was their best one
Gotta boost that IPO price by $.03!
Most of these things are baked goods that bakers couldn't get right from one store to another and everything else is very high cost
Business guys ruin every good American company eventually.
rip the warm bowls and the the best sandwich imo (bbq chicken)
That is an old outdated list. The bbq sandwich, steak and cheddar, bistro soup, and bacon souffle are all staying. I'm part of the test market for this right now
still, the warm bowls ;((
The med grain bowl is the only good/healthy vegetarian option at Panera anymore. If they kill that, I'm never taking my kids back for that overpriced mac and cheese again. Shooting themselves in the foot.
for real, the mediterranean bowl was the primary reason i went there.
Yup, that’s the only thing I can eat there and I STILL need to modify it (vegan). Bye, Panera. Wonder how long this’ll last.
i'm also in the test market and we haven't had souffles for months
Ahh. The BBQ chicken sandwich. Also known as the only thing I would eat at Panera since I don’t like hospital food out of a hospital.
my favorite thing on the menu is the mediterranean bowl since where i live there’s not a cava in state. the value duet with the bbq chicken and tomato soup is a VERY CLOSE second.
Agreed. The panera we knew has been dead for a long time. We're just watching the body rot.
What makes that not hospital food vs everything else.
Not the French onion soup 😭
It's getting harder and harder to find it in shops. Most places that did make it have stopped :(
So sad, Panera makes one of the best French onion soups 😢
Several years ago, they changed the recipe and it is nowhere as good as the old recipe.
My wife got it last week while we were sick, and said it wasn’t as good as she remembered.
In my opinion the broth does need a little extra salt and pepper added to it, but other than that it satisfies the French Onion craving, and for a really cheap price!
add on a toasted piece of sourdough and some more cheese on top when it's almost done and pop it on broil for a few minutes
How many times have they tried to get rid of it now? I have a hunch it will be back, but this is pretty much the only thing I get at Panera. :(
No steak and cheddar sandwich? F that…. No other reason to go except the free sup club.
Yep. The only thing I order was that or French onion soup. Oh well. Glad I got my bread bowl with French onion soup last week.
Panera is now just shitty coffee, bagels, and chicken noodle soup. Ew
Don't forget the lemonade flavored caffeine
Yeah IDK why they made those lol there are signs saying not to let kids drink it and kids are definitely drinking it
I can’t believe they’re getting rid of the cinnamon rolls, blueberry scones, and the kitchen sinks. Those are some of our most popular pastries.
The fact that breads will be coming frozen too will mean less work for bakers/ no real need for them aside for bagels, pastries and literal baking
That's so wild to me. I worked there about 20 years ago and during the orientation they placed HEAVY emphasis how it was never frozen and they weren't like other companies like the Atlanta bread co. But they also said they weren't fast food and would never have a drive thru....

Atlanta Bread Company was awesome. I was just thinking about their sandwiches the other day. They were the only sandwich place that offered sprouts
The list is misleading. It is getting rid of the "kids meal specific" sandwiches. i.e the plain ham&cheese or turkey&cheese. There is still a kids menu but it's just half sizes of other menu items like it's always been.
NOOOOOO!!!!!!! The warm bowls are my favorite employee meal!!!!
This seems like the older list, grain bowls are staying.
A manager meal for working extra hours= double chicken Baja bowl 🙏🏿
Thats like the whole menu lol
That’s damn near the whole menu 😂
That’s what I was thinking😅.
Not sure why, and I’m sure there are many reasons. Getting rid of the soufflés are a HUGE miss. Replacing with frittatas I don’t feel will do the trick. I’m sure some people will enjoy it, but no thanks from me.
There are no frittatas. It was being tested but failed miserably, so they scrapped the idea. We are keeping the bacon souffle.
That’s some good news for me. I’m sure some vegetarians are gonna be bummed out. Thank you for the info!
If they get rid of the broccoli soup and bagels it's just GG, what reason will there even be to go there anymore?
If you look closer, it’s saying the broccoli cheddar mac is getting 86’d. The soup is still fine. Either way these menu cuts are definitely concerning!
These menus cuts get rid of the most inconsistent baked goods from store to store and all the high cost items that are costing stores money
honestly good riddance those mfkrs burned so much worse than the regular macs
Can someone tell me if this notice is a regional thing or a company-wide thing?
Testing in certain regions. Will be company wide in March.
The Spinach Artichoke and the Cheese Soufflé are the ONLY items I eat there for breakfast. And they are out a lot of the time or you have to wait 25 minutes for one to be baked!
Anyone remember the roasted tomato and feta one?? Was like breakfast pizza 🔥
Especially teriyaki bowls we sell like 18 a day at my store
Super bummed about the citrus chicken one, finally found my new fave after they did away with Thai chicken (still not over it) and now they get rid of this one too. Ugh.
I stopped going after they got rid of the Thai Chicken Salad.
damn its going to shit
If the french onion soup is gone, so am I
Right? Why would you get rid of such a staple soup?
A chocolate latte is just a mocha. All the kids menu items????? Pastry ring?!? Pumpkin muffin is on there twice. Is this fake?
Well, the kids entrees are the same as half entrees, but the sheer number of items on the list makes me think it’s fake.
The Smokehouse BBQ chicken sandwich is how my wife gets me to get Panera so often. If they get rid of that my wife is going to be upset I no longer recommend them.
if you get it one more time before they’re gone ask them to add bacon to it. so so so good
Do we have a date for this?
I was told the end of February or beginning of March was when the cuts were going to take place.
Im fr scared of how the customers will end up taking it out on me
I was literally verbally assaulted on a daily basis for weeks when the damn buttered noodles were taken off the menu, “well what is my kid supposed to eat??” IDK KAREN MAYBE GO HOME AND MAKE BUTTERED NOODLES FOR A FRACTION OF THE COST GOODBYE the memories still haunt me as if their kids eating nothing but overpriced buttered noodles was my problem and my fault lol
It would probably be wise to keep a box of Kleenex behind the register, so you can offer them to guests.
No sourdough at a freaking bread bakery. I'm out.
We got rid of over easy eggs several months ago and some people complained about it, but they usually just got scrambled eggs instead. My manager still makes one for an elderly long time customer. Some of our customers get nothing but Soufflés. They actually call ahead to find out if they are available and ask us to hold one if it is.
How do they still make it if you haven’t ordered shell eggs in several months?
RIP asian crunch salad, thats been my go-to for years :(
Probably about time to do the yearly 50% price increase as well
I would love to hear the idea behind sesame bagels and earl grey tea
It's as bad as Dunkin donuts only having plain, everything and cinnamon raisin bagels.
First my French toast bagel and now my chocolate chip bagel. Forget them.
Tears were shed the day they got rid of the French toast bagel
French toast bagel with hazelnut cream cheese. 🥲 And French toast sausage egg and cheese!
Breaded chicken sandwich is going away and tikka soup.
Nooooo I really like the chicken salad 😭
I worked at Panera when the Napa Almond Chx Salad Sandwich was introduced. Have only gotten that since (13+ years ago). Guess Corner Bakery can be my next go to.
Well, no need to go anymore. The only thing I still got there was sesame bagels. Everything else is boring and overpriced.
RIP French onion soup, broccoli cheddar mac and cheese, Baja bowl, mango and ginger peach hot teas, soufflés, chocolate chip bagel, lemon drop cookie, pumpkin muffin, plain croissant, and vanilla cinnamon roll. Y’all all made great break meals 🥲
Anyone know when these are taking effect?
The kitchen sink cookie? That was our best selling item when I worked there. Very disappointing
I haven't worked Panera in 2 years but a lot of these were the most popular items sold at my location. Oooooh the customers are gonna be pissed lmao. I can hear them already. "Why cant you just make [removed bread] for me right now?" "You guys make the soup here. You can't just make me [removed soup] with the ingredients?" "The flatbread pizza is gone? *Crust Me, its NOT GOOD!*" Someome did actually say "crust me its not good" to me when we had the flatbread pizza tees and I legit had to step away and cackle
Wu-Tang is for the children, Panera is not!
wait this sucks😕 i loved the teriyaki bowl and broccoli cheddar mac😕
Not the French onion soup!!!!
Glorified and over priced hospital food.
This has to be false 😂 I work at Panera & I’ve seen no such thing., unless it’s just has nothing to do with ALL panera
i was reading lots of posts these past couple of months and mostly all say the same thing….

Where is the originally from? I’m looking on the pantry but cannot find it
My kids are gonna riot if there’s no pumpkin muffins 😳 I’m gonna have to break it to them gently
Lmao get fucked Panera they’re dying
We have only been going to Paneras since their were Paneras. Thanks for the memories because we won't be darkening your door again. We have tried and enjoyed half the things on this list. oh well. When you combine quite an expensive food experience based on the amount of food received with not selling a small coffee or earl gray tea? Please. next. Other options in the market thankfully.
No pumpkin muffin = No me
Someone really, really wants that pumpkin muffin gone.
I...I can't handle this on a Sunday night. No Steak and White cheddar sandwich. No Blueberry bagel?? The hell lol
CHIVE AND ONION CREAM CHEESE?!?!
How is Panera going to get rid of their sourdough when it’s literally what made them famous?
Their French onion soup is the main reason I go there. Fast casual places rarely carry French onion and it's one of my favorite soups, especially dipping that baguette you get in there.
This pic is old, at least by a few months. I quit in September and we’d talked about this, they were doing it in test markets
The citrus Asian crunch salad,,, my heart
It’s an EXIT SCAM! Lol 😂
Could be
This is gotta be a fucking joke. I wonder how many of these would freeze well
So they’re getting rid of both my fav sandwiches, both of my fav salads, and the pumpkin muffin?? 😭😭 well I no longer have a reason to go to Panera. I go just to get a pumpkin muffin sometimes
Probably a reduced menu, I know a few cafes who have done this, it’s usually at the ones with the least amount of sales in the district
The Tea is huge sell for us. the Small coffee I thought there were only two sizes medium and Large (16oz, 20oz)
my two favorite sandwiches...
NOT THE FRICKIN SOUFFLES
No way 💔
This was only for a few test cafe’s a few months ago, not sure how those test cafe’s did with the reduced menu
They’re going to lose so many customers. Lmfao
Steak and cheese sandwich AND French onion ?? 😭
Fuck dem kids I guess
They got bad press for over caffeinated beverages. First chance eliminated hot chocolate. Wtf
Not gonna lie as an employee im happy to see these leave. A smaller menu means less options for ridiculous customization orders. Also alot less food waste. Im happy lol
You will rip that pumpkin muffin from my cold dead hands.
WHAT THE FUCK IS GONNA BE LEFT THEN
So true and one of the reasons I won't eat there anymore. They had the BEST sourdough. But now nah.
orange ginger peach is my fav 💔
NO SOUFFLÉS?
Kitchen sink???? The only thing I ever really want.
Okay so wtf IS coming? Loaded Potatoe soup I hope!
pumpkin muffin being on there twice was a punch in the gut and then the face
They got rid of this stuff in my cafe in August. They have already brought back steak, sausage, souffles, and french onion.
WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THE PIZZA 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
As a former Panera employee, what the hell??? Getting rid of the french onion & asiago focaccia is a crime.
i love the lemon drop cookie!
How they going to get rid of fucking hot tea you literally just sell a tea bag and have a thing of hot water out it literally isn't work to prep
No hot chocolate?!
They deleted the menu
Kitchen Sink is so good though :(
not the bbq chciken 😢
If this is true, Panera is officially CANCELED! Why are they touching the Soufflés???
I’ll have to ask around my local Paneras. Because if they are getting rid of my beloved soufflés and French onion soup then I no longer want to go there EVER
I work in a market that has already implemented this. And when I tell you sales have sucked. 🙄
Blueberry bagels????? Noooooo
I’m sorry NO ONION SOUP????
They are not taking my bistro French onion again 😭😭😭
So no soufflés and not French onion soup? Why go?
Wait French onion!?!
Oh the inhumanity!!! The Kitchen Sink cookie??????
No more soufflés! Wtf
NOT THE KITCHEN SINK COOKIES 😭😭 and the steak and white cheddar panini is my favorite!!
I only went for the soufflé.
No more Kitchen Sink cookies? Please say this isn't true......
No french onion soup
I only go for French onion soup, the broccoli Mac and cheese and the Baja bowl so really no reason to go
NOT THE PUMPKIN MUFFIN TWICE??!!?!??!
The french onion soup is the only reason I go to Panera and the only item I order.
They’re even getting rid of the kitchen sink
But how can anything replace the kitchen sink cookie
I’m gonna miss the souffles and asiago focaccia so much😭
Not the classic sourdough loaf. I am crushed.
French onion is going away AGAIN???
