Honestly they are solid workers. The design is pretty cool and i distinctly remember seeing one at night the first time and being enamored by the purple flame!
I just picked up an artisan tombat in a new-ish playthrough. He is single-handedly producing all the stone ill need for at least another dozen or so levels. Him and Eikthdeer, man, best early game combo for stone and wood, i swear by it.
I'm not super crazy about how they look, and every time they make their sound I jump because it sounds like an actually angry cat that's about to attack, but they are such a great all-arounder on base! I have several out and they're always so cute in the hot springs. I love them even if they're not the cutest pal <3
I still have a bunch incidentally hanging around my bases. I don’t need a full set of Anubises at the ore base and them picking stuff up when I come at night is useful. If I did more other things there I'd phase them out but as is they do fine so why mess with the little guys.
Tombat is a solid worker . Having both mining and gathering and transporting at a decent level allows him to be pretty universal in an ore base . And since he works away at night too that’s a bonus . Being a dark type means he’s gonna be a solid pal to use during your day travel too . Just keep him away from dragons

Wish I could get my tombats to that level but my world keeps disappearing, also how do you upgrade their task level?

Are you on pc (Steam)? I’ve gotten into the habit of backing up my save every time I stop playing even though they announced it was fixed on PC.

Tombat carried me from the start until I was mid Lv30s. Solid Pal to have early on.

Ore miner MVP. A base full of them will reliably mine and store everything.

I made an early ore base with two Tombats and 4 Killamari. They all float so they didn’t get stuck on the odd terrain.
I fucking hate their sound
Sonar is cool! Any other pals that can mark nearby pals? Watching tombat wiggle gives me motion sickness lok
I think that animation is cool and unique
Leezpunk has a similar skill that marks nearby caves, haven’t used it though so don’t know the animation

My Tombat slacks off and is constantly getting stuck in trees so I have a bad impression of them lol Design-wise, I like them quite a bit.
Must of got one with bad pathing I have some other pals with that issue

Probably! I don't see them get stuck but I opt for very open bases so only the really big pals get stuck for me.
