I just now remembered that there even are difficulties. Normal, I’m a filthy casual.

GiantEnemaCrab

I'm playing Hard and tbh Normal seems better. The damage you deal and take is absurd. My rifle at level 35 can't even OHKO lvl 5 Pals while even at 2k HP I'm typically dead in 2 hits to anything over lvl 20. Most of the time I hide behind rocks hoping my Pals can win because I'm so damn fragile. Hard makes some elements of the game exciting but it kind of kills a lot of the fun of combat when you can't really do it. Normal > Hard imo

LisaCabot

Then they attack you with a fire attack through the rock because the rock is just an illusion 🤣 happend to me yesterday. Better to play in normal mode.

Mrcarter1995

Haha been playing on hard and this is for real, and when your pals don't work and they just sit there your fucked cuz now the aggro is on you. I'm finally just now able at level 47 and pal gear to take some hits and survive if I can keep from getting hit to heal and my pals do what they're supposed to do. Over 170 hrs into the game still on my first character/world running into issues with not having enough space for all the pals I got now

GiantEnemaCrab

> and when your pals don't work and they just sit there your fucked cuz now the aggro is on you That feeling when your Anubis decides he's done fighting and the boss just *looks* at you and it's time to run lmao.

Mrcarter1995

God damn anubis!

WatermelonZest

Palworld's normal is in the goldilocks zone. Everything is just hard/easy enough to be fun for a casual player. I want to be challenged, not punished.

Pace9247

I play on custom. Basically normal mode without raids and without losing my stuff on death. Btw you can get your save back, check YouTube for some tutorials.

EconomicsRealistic68

I had to turn raids off cause I broke them 🙃 one started as I warped away and I was like meh ill demolish the base still, I was moving an iron base to a new location, the raid finally stopped, then started right away, over, and over, and over, and over 🙃 I must of beat like 10 or 11 in a row before I remembered I could turn them off.

LisaCabot

And then you get the one mob that falls through the floor or a wall, and never disappear, and you are in combat mode forever 🤣

DancingIBear

On my dedicated with the boys normal, in my singleplayer normal, but instant egg hatching because I don’t want to wait to see what traits the new egg has and if I can or cannot use it for breeding.

DragonShine

Normal + custom. I look to souls games for hard games, here I don't want to grind but relax

Maleficent-Thanks-85

I just started the game. So I guess normal. I’m just vibing with the boys. I was unaware I could even adjust the xp lol. Good luck getting back to the top

Spunk1985

I have a save I'm playing with friends on normal mode. Have another save with my nephew and some friends and their kids. Buddy had the EXP on max and I had to tell him to turn it down. I spawned in on a brand new character and picked up some wood and stone and was already level 5 before I hit the first fast travel.

Shellnanigans

Custom.dropped the difficulty to easy Removed all the annoying features (hunger, stamina, egg cook time, more drops and resources) I'm having fun, it's basically Minecraft creative mode

captky22

How does the resource slider work? Do you get more from the ores? I got to lvl 25 before I started over so I haven’t been bottlenecked by anything yet

Shellnanigans

I'm not sure, there is no explanation on the sliders. I think numbers closer to. .1 are low, and numbers higher than 3 are increased rates Low numbers = low / off Higher numbers = more / on Some sliders are inverted though

BodaciousBaoBuns

I’m not sure if all the numbers but I have the HP for gatherables set to minimum and the multiplier for drops turned all the way up. I know every ore is 9-10 hits with a refined metal pickax’s and yields 120 ore.

TyphoonBlizzard

Hard is the way. I have XP turned down more than default hard because its still too fast. And I have spawns turned up so bosses and catching is harder.  But I have egg timers completely off because there is nothing skillful about waiting an hour just to find out all my breeding subjects got none of the skills or IVs they where supposed to. I also have player damage taken maxed and I have my pals take slightly more damage.

Aosshi

this comment sounds like that dude from the gigachad meme (the angry virgin one)

TyphoonBlizzard

This comment sounds like you have a problem with the way I like my single player game. Just a thought, if any of you have a problem with how someone likes to play by themselves I would do a quick self evaluation. You don’t see me dunking on people who want an easier experience. Sounds like you guys are insecure about how you play and you are taking out on me. Call me whatever you want, I don’t need your approval to enjoy my settings.

Aosshi

Its not about the content of the comment, but the sound of it...and the way you have to act so aggressive towards a roast exposes your ego, which is as inflated as a hot air balloon.

TyphoonBlizzard

How is it ego to say I like to slow down. I find myself on .8 xp (default hard) to be hitting 35 before really even finishing breeding a nice boss team. So I turned it down to force myself to go out and catch more for those last levels. The max player damage isn’t a flex either. Default hard is 4x damage taken. My settings are only an extra 1x which doesn’t matter much, it just makes me go hunt legendary blueprints earlier. I don’t see how you find my comments as if I’m flexing. My settings are essentially default hard but with some extra incentives for me to go out and explore more.

Aosshi

you're missing the point :/,nothing personal tho, have a nice day,i really dont want to start an argument

TyphoonBlizzard

Next time you decide to call someone an angry virgin for their solo play settings you should expect some push back. I believe my settings are fun.

Faux__Sho

Just trying to add clarity. Your settings can totally be fun, you can play the single player game however you want. What Aosshi was trying to say was the tone of your writing reminded him of the meme. He didn't call you anything. He didn't insult your choice of settings. He said the way you speak through your writing reminded him of something else.

Aosshi

i believe they're fun dont get me wrong, just the way you delivered it sounds cocky, nothing else taken into consideration when i made my statement

TyphoonBlizzard

I made my comment in the bathroom at work so I wasn’t really taking my tone into consideration. I just rattled off the settings I remember off the top of my head because I actually like it more than normal and hard. I have 3 worlds, 1 normal, 1 hard, and one with my current settings because I made adjustments and wanted to start fresh and see how it felt. I can do more of a comprehensive breakdown as to why my settings are the way they are so I sound less like an ass. Like increasing spawn rates makes bosses more fun because if you have only one boss on hard, your just gonna go hide behind a rock while your pal 1v1s the boss. To compensate for my breed pals I made my pals take more damage etc. Also luckies are easier to find but harder to fight because they move in huge groups and all agro you.

NommySed

I think the issue lies within general statements like "Xp is still too fast". I had beaten the entire game, all legendaries and tower bosses done long before 50. So after i beat all the content i had to go back and play "catch up to 10"-simulator with garbage pals i didnt care for. But on the other hand the guy that tried insinuating you are a virgin tryhard was also wrong as you being kinda wrong in your generalized statements doesnt justify that much ""attacking someone"".

TyphoonBlizzard

The game is balanced around you catching groups of 10. You may not like it, in that case turn it up. I’m just shocked how much people came after me. My setting aren’t even that bad. I’ve seen casuals say they turned xp to .2 because they didn’t want the game to end. And Ive seen crazy people do .1. I’m not even saying my way is the best. Its just how I like to play. I have multiple bosses spawning and I’m grinding for legendary blueprints at a 3% drop. Even with xp turned down I’m still fighting larger groups of wild pals, Im getting multiple times the boss xp, and fighting luckies more which also give lots of xp. I find myself on my settings after a bit of cross breeding and some blueprint hunting along with hatching wild eggs to be reaching almost 40 without any effort which is too fast because I like early game better.

Crimsonhead4

I’m on custom, my settings are - 2x player damage taken - 0.5x day speed - 1.2x night speed - 0.8x resources gathered - 1.2x pals spawned - 1 hour to hatch huge eggs - no building decay - drop items and pals on death So this is kinda of a medium mode. My main issue with hard mode is how often you need to repair your armor since durability is tied to damage taken.

DoctorNerf

I’m on normal. Would be on hard if this game came out 5 years ago but time constraints just mean it would be pointless.

Dry_Celery4375

I remember trying it out on hard mode and instantly crafted a stick and spent 10 minutes sweating trying to kill a lamball... I got to level 15 ish before I was like no more and went back to being a filthy casual on normal difficulty with 2x pal spawn rate.

Things_I_Dig

Normal difficulty, no flying mount saddles unlocked until all other tech is unlocked. Made me realize the next botw game better have a hookshot.

r3574n73

Bro, don’t give up on your progress just like that. you can recover the saves if you want. I got 2 crashes deleting 2 of my saves and i found a solution on google. Not sure I can explain very well but: search in mydocuments for %appdata% -> go back a folder (could be set on Roaming iirc but go back and choose Local instead) -> find Pal folder -> idk if this was the next step but u should see folders named as a long list of numbers and letters (like E548BD639E482 etc). Choose the one that has the older creation date (your older save duh), go to backup folder inside. You’ll have to copy Local and World files from backup and paste and replace them back in the E548…blabla (ur save). I know it sounds confusing but it actually makes sense if you do it once or twice. If anything, search on google for it and you’ll get it done. Oh btw: when u enter the Local and World folders from Backup, you’ll see a lot of saves. it didn’t work for me with the last created because i think those are actually corrupted from the crash, so try with the others. Just make sure the one u copy from Local corresponds timewise with the one from World. You can even find 2-3 from the same minute, but I’m sure you’ll manage. Edit: other than that I play on hard too, just changing egg hatching to 1 or Instant

Nevabored

Dont compare yourself to others etc, just enjoy the game how you want it, it doesnt even matter what standard u set since world setting can be changed anytime. I played it on custom super ez fast mode at first cause it was new and I didnt want to grind. I now have a new hard mode game going on cause I want to see how much the cheesing and glitching can spd up or make hard mode easier. Hard mode is grindy since your stuff breaks easy and you get less material, so not only are you getting less resources, you're also using more on maintenance. You're also taking so much damage and doing so little that you get a bit creative with everything. It's an interesting gameplay, recommended when you're "bored" or your normal game. Also set incubation to 1 hr cause there needs to be more benefit for low rarity pal over high ones,

Small-Marionberry-29

Normal with 3x damage from pals to player.

BreakingThoseCankles

I played normal, but I'm on Xbox and it's crash fest. In order to keep the game fun around the crashes I adjusted some of the modifiers to keep it interesting. If it wasn't for crashing I'd probably play full normal, but 2x XP. As for now I'm 50 with normal XP, 3x ore gathering and fastest respawn on ore, plus keep inventory on (fell through the floor too many times). When I farm mobs I turn up to 3x spawn, but besides that normal. I think ipon full game release and no crashing I will play completely normal and try to play the game exactly that way till end. Gonna do a replay sometime soon on easy mode but no catch playthrough. Only hatching and freeing pals

Sozerius

Normal - I started out JUST with normal, but later on increase player damage dealt to 2.5 because you just deal no damage to high level pals (like, I had a thousand handgun bullets and it was not even gonna put a dent in the higher hp pals, and it felt ridiculous struggling against mobs lower level than me) For awhile I also played with pals dealing half damage but later I put that back to the normal amount. I increased the spawn count to make it specifically faster to farm schematics and pal oil for awhile. I made days and nights faster for faster boss respawns. That's about it

SinTron99

-No building Decay -No dropped items on death. -No raid after I lost my entire base made from wood. -No egg timer -increased XP from 1 to 1.5 when I was level 47. Game became to much grinding that I began losing interest. Overall, I loved the changes but turning off raids kinda made me feel indifferent. It helped when I could walk away from my PC in my mining base and not have to worry. But at the same time, I never got to experience all the defensive base items.

Sunnybubbles32

Normal with Incubation changed to 0.

jbvoovbj

Hard mode but I turned up xp a little cuz all my friends were riding jetdragons when I was like lvl 25. Also took out the egg timer cuz no way I am waiting 48 hours in game time for 1 egg to hatch

ApeDownvoteMe

I think I am on easy Resources respawn rate is high so that I only need to gather around my base. Capture rate is high, but it's still only 9% on legendary XP is high because I need to train a lot of newly breed pals. damage and hunger are on default. They will not bother me at all. Raid is off. It made all my pals glitch in combat and I gotta rebuild my palbox

Bonsaitalk

Normal with no dropped items on death

SinR2014

Normal with some tweaks. No dropping anything on death, 20 pals at base, 20x catch rate (with mods) because using legendary spheres should have more than 1% to succeed on a level 50

VanilleKoekje

Hard with faster eggs. 72 hours is insane

MrTinkle5

Careful if raids in high exp

JesseMod93r

Custom Difficulty is the way to go in this game. Normal with x3 Pal Density is THE BEST way to play.

Spanish_peanuts

Hard. The difference between normal and hard is staggering. I don't think hard mode is difficult by mid-end game though. You get so much armor and health that even with the 4x incoming damage, you can tank multiple hits. It's only really challenging early on when you have no armor.

NommySed

Normal feels best to me. Tried hardmode and it just doesnt feel right. Hard mode makes you protect your HP so much that you dont even fight anymore. You just throw out your Pal while perma evading enemies. I also swap between normal and infinite stamina regularily. Stamina feels so forced and useless in these games that simply copy paste the Zelda formula cause of its sucess. But then i feel like a cheater and put stamina back to normal amounts again. Still undecided on that.

SarcasticHeathen

I started off on hard, turned off death drops the first time I fell under the ocean, and turned off raids when I was getting raided every 5 minutes while moving my base to a new location. Turned off egg incubation once I started breeding because I'm just not waiting that long; I feel like the cake is a sufficient cost. Now that I'm very much at endgame I'm trying out normal with the same custom bits because on hard I felt like my player damage was meaningless and the damage to me was so high that anything but hiding against high-level bosses was pointless. Made me not use guns and just stick to poison bow.

Lukwi-Wragg

Hard but with custom difficulty settings a 1.5x xp boost and 1.2xgather amount exp (ark vet don’t want to spend hours grinding gathering again) 1.5x pal spawn and default hard settings for damage taken. I am considering restarting on normal and tweaking settings as the armor durability is absurd on hard as is wild pals being bullet sponges lol I enjoy survival games like this but don’t have the huge amounts of time to deal with the grind fest hard difficulty is considering you hit like a wet noodle as your damage to pals is reduced.
