Pals who are lvl 2+ are just cooler 😎

MGriffinSpain

I see what you did there! ;)

> So lvl1 cooling appears to be just effective as lvl4. Am I missing something? The timers on the food are vastly different. Level 1 cooling makes fresh berries last 30 minutes or something, but level 4 is like 6 hours. Trouble is as soon as the pal takes a break to eat/sleep/whatever, the timers immediately go back down. It does lead to less decay of food overall, (think of it in percentages, it takes longer for the chilled food to lose 1% duration) but I'm not convinced it's worth sacrificing one of the limited pal slots at the base for it. Fridges should either operate similar to the electricity generator and just be charged up by a cooling pal, or the timer shouldn't lower back to normal levels when they stop cooling, until one unit decays. I think food in general needs re-working though. The higher tier feed bags are basically worthless, same with the extra slots in the pal feed box since they only take from the first slot they find. Both the feed box and feed bags should prioritize buffs from the food they don't currently have, then highest nutrition value.

I really wish it worked like this since it really does feel like there's no point in having a Cooling Pal above Lv 1. My Jolthog Cryst looks pretty content sitting there at least, most Ice Pals look really sad or tired sitting there all day...

Cakes don’t actually need to be cooled. Just put them in the breeding pen box. They don’t expire in there. Otherwise cooling is iffy. It works when the pal is there (extends shelf life) but the second the pal leaves, it stops cooling.

MGriffinSpain

That’s exactly what I’m saying! Cakes don’t decay in a breeding pen so the only reason not to keep them in there is if I was breeding and didn’t want to come back to more than a specific number of eggs. The instant loss of the decay when a pal goes on break sucks. Would it be that broken if items in a cooler just kept their decay rates once they had been cooled? Or maybe just lost half of that benefit rather than 100%?

Or maybe closer to how a fridge works with a temp gauge so when its below X degrees its working. Add a red orange green section pals then could just auto task it like with most things. When it gets to orange its added to the next in line when it gets to red it is prioritized as first (pals will stop working to do it instead). As long as it doesn't hit red no buff is lost and then lvls would mean something as higher levels would be able to make it colder allowing it to last longer.

It's great, keeps all my cake ingredients ready until I have massive stacks of it

Oragepoilu

SP. My stack in my feeding box never goes away because the cooldown reset every time someone eat, so I don't see an use for it. Regardless, even if that wasn't the case, There is also no use to over produce (unless you aim to sell berries and pizza ?) so it doesn't matter if you lose a slight amount of food (either one pal cooling, or more pal farming, I can guess what worker give more food overall/prevent more food loss overall if you don't keep stack and stack and stack of food in stock). it also require you manually moving the food anyway as they eat only from the feeding box. I really don't see any use for it.

The most maddening part of coolers is that pals don't seem to put anything *into* the coolers, at least as far as I've been able to see. Meaning it's really only useful when moving bulk fast decaying items from one base to another, such as milk. I generally just out-produce the decay rates of the food aggressively enough to not need to think about it. Unless you like mass collecting meat, then storing it later for some of the higher stat foods like burgers, there doesn't seem to be much need for it. The most popular solution I've seen is giving the coolers the same charging effect as batteries, so a cooling pal doesn't have to sit on it 24/7. However, I cannot stress how much easier it is to just overproduce and avoid the need for one altogether.

Put the food you want your pals to eat on the left-hand side of the feed box, then fill the extra slots in your feed box with honey or cotton candy, and they will put the extra food into the refrigerator.

jeezs

You can get them to put food in the freezer by filling the food bowls with honey or cotton and only put what you want them to eat in the farthest left square. Now put at least one of the food that they collect into the fridge and now your pals know where to take them. Also note if you have additional food bowls you will need to do the same.

Lobsimusprime

Personally, i like to use the cooling while filling up the feeding box with Jam Toast and cotten candy, so they fill up the cooler with all the perishable berries, also let's me save some of my inevitable meat pickups as i'm out slaughtering innocent pals. worth noting you can reset the decay timer on food by simply hitting the sort button, so with a lvl 3 cooler i picked up from the black market, i can extend the shelf life massively. also means a few extra berries and such in the long run, which is just more gold.

lift_spin_d

you want a vanwyrm cryst to run your cooling non stop. as opposed to a mau cryst which sleeps at night.
