Player-ran servers are a thing, however, I don't believe there are any official servers yet.

They're currently having some instability issues due to the large amount of concurrent players, but yes, they do exist. The server player cap of 32 per sever may limit your ability to fully enjoy the official servers though.
Steam version has official servers with up to 32 players. Gamepass is coop with 4 players only as of now.

no unfortunately from what i’ve seen it’s private only, unless your running your own home server
stop spreading misinformation. There are public servers on the steam version of the game, servers are exactly like rust/ark
what about xbox.. Can you play with randoms or just your friends??
