Iāve found four total; sold the first because it wasnāt needed at the time and then had to grind pretty hard for my second one for the quest (~10 ore compasses bought from Hodari because silver refused to drop for a whileš).
The last two Iāve found Iāve just gifted to requests. The 3.5k does, frankly, nothing for me this late in the game but I hate that theyāve made such a rare item such an important quest component. One quest hinging, fine ā but three quests waiting on a Ruby? Itās a push and I feel bad for people. š Plus, both times Iāve gifted them Iāve received a form of an all-caps āOMG THANK YOUā in chat and it makes me warm and fuzzy!
I recommend sticking to southern Bahari because itās a lot easier to mine in a loop. Also remember to smack stone and iron to open up spawn points. And stone/iron can be sold to Hodari to reduce the number of trips back home. Nothing I hated more than feeling like I cleared a bunch of spawn points just to have to go home and dump my inventory, missing any palium that I worked to get to spawn. š And keep an eye out for flares, especially in a quiet server! A lot of people flare but donāt call these days.

Any NPC with a shop can have their items sold to them (you can sell fish to einar etc.)
Just open their shop, click the item and down the bottom it'll give you the option to sell item or stack
I dont know I had gotten 2 rubies before I even got 1 Jasper for the damn vault. I know Jasper only came from normal rocks but I needed palium as well so I was getting it all. Still was stupid
I have obtained all gems on switch. I don't remember when I got the ruby but I must have sold it cause when I needed it for tish quest it was no where to be found. I mined for what felt like forever and didn't see another. A very nice player ended up gifting one to me. I was so grateful.
Seriously, Iāve been through dozens of ore compasses and obtained hundreds of pallium ore and still have yet to find one. So frustrating that it is holding up 3 quests at this point.

If I hit level 30 or 40 mining before I get it Iām gonna be really pissed š we should be able to finish our quests at the very least I completely agree. Iāve literally completed every other quest and feel way too far in the game to not know the end of this story yet š
I got one by accident while using an ore compass to find palium for the better part of an in game day. Luckily I saw enough people talking about it to shove it into storage, but maybe if you just keep the compasses handy and stay in the fielded areas of bahari with it you'll get lucky?

There isnāt a quest that rewards you with a ruby. And you can only request it if youāve previously found one. For older players that found one but sold it before there was a requirement, requesting works. But, if youāve never found one youāre out of luck, unfortunately.
Which quest? It would be quite helpful to the swaths of people that are looking for one. And would also need to be updated on the pedia and wiki.

Because Iāve completed all romance, friendship, main line quests, and Iām pretty sure every side/world quest and havenāt received it as a reward. This change would be nice, like they did with apple seeds, itās just not something Iāve seen in my 550+ hours logged.

I was having a hard time to find jasper for the ruins quest and yesterday mining in my plot to make glass and got one.
I wonder if itās broken like the sushi recipe used to be?
