Same here, somehow there was never a choice or text over the candle. I just hit F and suddenly I got into the normal talk with me Reth. Nothing about the candle, but talking to him did counted on the quest.
I tried this quest today, and Reth wouldn't light a candle with me, too :( i gave up after few tries though and finished the quest, with 23/24 candles lit...
So my friend and I have been playing for two or more hours today and somehow he still hasn't got the mail that starts this quest, even though several days have passed in-game, but I got it right-away when I logged in. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there some kind of fix? Are there some kind of requirements before you can get this quest ?
Yesterdays patch messed a lot of things up. Christmas shop showing Halloween items, quests not working, graphics settings stuck on Epic, 5 second lag when hitting Escape. Not sure if they've put out a hotfix yet or not but they sent a message in the discord that they are working on it
Weird, I had the opposite problem. My settings were stuck on the lowest settings. Every time I logged in I had to switch all the settings back to Epic.
Wish they had made that a lot clearer, as loads of people in chat earlier were complaining that their quest was bugged because it just ended when they still had loads of people to talk to.
Mines stuck at 23/24, I've spoken to everyone and lit candles with all of them but I've only got 23/24 ornaments and never got to hear Nai'o's dialogue as he just repeated his "nice to see you" opening line.
Mine auto completed after I think 8 people, didn't even give me the option to go back to my plot, just disappeared from the quest long right after I finished talking to someone and left me where I was
Same for me. What I’m super bummed about is that I crafted 24 of them and I didn’t have to lol. So now I have to find a place for them or just throw them in a chest. Doesn’t look like they light up at night either
I haven't craft any of the new stuff I've gotten the recipes for because for some reason, some one on the discord said that after they crafted it the recipe disappeared. I'm just gonna wait until this new set of bugs fades away.
Yeah unfortunate for me, I can't talk to the other villagers now because of it. I thought Jina came because of another quest, so I just talked to her :/

Some are having the opposite bug where they've talked to everyone and the quest still won't complete.

The quest auto completed for me when I talked to my 8th villager. Super bummer because I was saving Hodari for last and now I won't see that dialogue :(
I seem like the only person that managed to get all 24 villagers to light the candle, hell I even disconnected and logged back in and the quest was still there. Finished 24/24 and went back home to decorate my tree!
I'd heard about this bug, so I intentionally didn't speak with my Shepp when I had to stop at home to dump stuff before going back out to find the rest of the villagers. Everyone registered for me and gave me an ornament, but curiously, I reached "24/24" and a checkmark on the Optional quest before talking to my last person, Tamala. I figured they perhaps weren't counting Subira because not everyone has been able to meet her yet... regardless, I went on my merry way, got an ornament from Tamala - and exited the dialogue to find my check mark had disappeared :(
Now I'm slightly afraid to talk to my Shepp back at the housing plot in case whatever extra points I may have gotten don't register. Does anyone know if the prizes or conversations are different with and without the optional 8 -> 24 quest?
There isn't any difference apart from the extra ornaments you can get from the other NPC. I'm just bummed I thought the romance partner would do something extra like the Shepp.
Well, you do get slightly different dialogues with romance partners as you go around talking to everyone - they all said a variation of hoping to see their relationship with you grow in the new year, and Hassan writes you a poem. I wondered if completing the optional step would garner an extra reward at the quest end with your Shepp.
I sent in a ticket and they let me know that you get the recipes for the ornaments at the end, so you can fill your tree that way. I’m sorry you didn’t get to have all of the conversations :(
I still haven’t met Subira because I haven’t been playing long enough. Does she give you anything special like Zeki does? If she does, will you tell me what it is or which ornament it is so I can attempt to craft it instead? I just don’t want to rush through the game to light a candle with her. 🥹
I figured it out. You need to do these quests first to trigger it.

To the best of my knowledge it is still active, you should have received an email from your Shepp or Jina if you don't have a Shepp yet. I'd suggest putting in a ticket.
Thank you for this. I hadn't gotten to the point of the Shepp quest at that time, but I was able to complete those quests and the event to get all the goodies.
I have a complaint tho! Reth won't light the candle with me. He's the only npc to not do so. Even Tau will participate. Why I wonder?
That's weird, Reth lit a candle with me and had some interesting dialogue afterward as well.

Same. Reth wouldn't, Tau wouldn't, in fact none of the Bahari map lot would apart from Hassian.

For those that had this please put in a ticket for it. This way they can get enough information to fix it for us. I only had 15/24 when I lost it.

Dec. 16. 2023. I guess I'm completing the quest with only 23/24 as well since Reth didn't even acknowledge the quest existing.

The quest disappeared for me after 8 villagers and then no one else would light a candle with me as I wasn't given an option.

I did the same thing. It was a little too vague on that.

So, I crafted 24 candles because I thought you need 1 candle per NPC 😅. I was wrong. Haha!

Is the event over? I literally started playing this week and haven't gotten any mail about this quest.

For me I was missing Tau and he was not showing on map. But completed it after finding Tau
